Is Being A Met Fan Like A Greek Tragedy?

David Groveman of Mack’s Mets had an interesting post in which he compares Mets fans to the Greek mythological figure King Sisyphus who was cursed to rolling a huge boulder uphill for eternity. The tragic fate of this Jerk of a King is similar in many ways to my experience as a Met fan. The Mets begin […]

Will Johan Santana’s Velocity Suffer As A Result Of The Surgery?

Interesting response by Anthony DiComo when he was asked a question regarding a potential loss in velocity for Johan Santana who had already seen the velocity on his fastball decline in the years before his shoulder surgery in 2010. Isn’t Johan Santana the first pitcher of his kind to suffer this kind of injury? He […]

Who Is The Mets’ Best Offseason Acquisition?

No, there were no big, splashy signings this offseason, but we did manage to sign some useful players that could help the Mets be very competitive in 2012. As I look over the list of new additions, none really jump out at me as far as who might have the biggest impact, but I do […]

More On Losing F-Mart

Toby Hyde of Mets Minor League Blog poses an interesting question: I just find this whole little episode stunning. Giving up Fernando Martinez for nothing just seems odd. Surely Martinez was worth something, like a live arm or two, on the trade market. Moreover, there is still slack on the Mets 40-man roster. This feels a little […]

Wilpon Doesn’t Sound Like A Man Who’s Considering Bankruptcy To Me

Shh… Fred Wilpon spoke. Did you hear it? Yes, it’s been almost a year to the day since you last read a quote from the Mets CEO, and I must say that he’s sounding like he has a lot more spring to his steps these days. Brian Costa of the Wall Street Journal caught up […]

Sandy Almighty

The other day I jokingly suggested that I was going to have Kelly design a special graphic for Lord Sandy – a moniker that frequently appears on our comment threads. I even asked if we should make one with a halo or without… Well as luck would have it, longtime friend of MMO and frequent […]
