Mets Beat Brewers 5-4 On Castillo Walk-off Hit
In typical fashion, the Mets got off to an early 3-0 lead when Jose Reyes singled to center to get things started and moved to second when Murphy singled to center. A David Wright single loaded the bases for Delgado who hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield scoring Reyes. Two batters later, Church is intentionally walked to load the bases and bring up Castro who worked out a bases loaded walk to bring home Murphy. Castillo [...]

No Heart, No Fire…
As evidenced by the jubilation when the bench cleared to congratulate Castillo for his game-winning IF hit. Did you happen to see Ollie embrace Castillo as if we’d just won it all?! This is exactly the kind of victory that you have to have to be competitive. If we cannot blow away the opposition, then we have to savor these kinds of moments and look forward to battling back—as we have done consistently in our [...]

Sheffield Blasts Number 500
It was perfect timing… With the Mets down by a run in the seventh inning, Gary Sheffield came in to pinch hit for the pitcher with the score 4-3. Mitch Stetter was pitching in relief for the Brewers, and after an eight pitch at-bat, he served a 3-2 slider to Sheffield who quickly launched it down the leftfield line and over the wall for his historic 500th homerun. Play was stopped for about 2 minutes [...]

Mets DL Brian Schneider, Promote Omir Santos
Mets.com reports that prior to Friday night’s game catcher, Brian Schneider was placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Thursday, with a muscle strain in his back. The Mets purchased the contract of catcher Omir Santos, who is expected to be arrive in time for Friday’s game and to be available if needed. Ramon Castro is behind the plate for the Mets on Friday, starting for back-to-back games in place of Schneider. “We are [...]

Thanks To Our Readers
Hi everyone, As you know we’ve completely revamped our site from top to bottom and launched it on Opening Day. We have continued working at it day in and day out because when we launched it was only 80% completed. Yesterday we were able to add the image modules for each post on our main page as many of you had asked us to. We also show more of the post on the main page [...]

Just a Thought(s).
This Mets team is struggling to get started this year. Not for a lack of production from its 4-5-6 hitters, or so the boxscore would have you imagine. Carlos Delgado has hit the ground running with a .343 BA and 3 dingers. Carlos Beltran is hitting .333. Ryan Church is batting a stellar .419 with 6 doubles!! How is it that the Mets are sitting in 4th place with a 4-5 record? Only a week into the season, and [...]

Tatis Is Getting Punished For Being Too Clutch
Fernando Tatis has been a godsend for the Mets from the moment he first arrived. Last season, Fernando Tatis had one of the highest batting averages on the Mets with runners in scoring position at .392. He batted .375 with the bases loaded, and .357 with runners on base. By driving in 47 runs and slugging 11 homers in just 273 at-bats last season, he was awarded with the Comeback Player of the Year award. [...]

Mets Notes: Pelfrey Status, Idiot Fan, Schneider & Murph
The Mets have yet to make a decision regarding Mike Pelfrey and his upcoming start on Sunday. Pelfrey said yesterday, that he wants to pitch and that he’s not concerned about the forearm. Jerry Manuel remains non-committal either way, and most have surmised that the decision has already been made to skip his start on Sunday. Until an official announcement is made, it still can go either way. Can somebody please assure me that I [...]

If It Was Your Choice, Pitchers Park or Hitters Haven?
During Wednesday night’s broadcast, Gary Cohen talked about some of the drives he felt would have been homers at Shea Stadium, specifically citing Wright and Beltran’s long outs. He went on to say how Jeff Wilpon mentioned that the Citi Field was setup so that if necessary they could bring in the fences next season if the park effected the Mets offense adversely. After many, many years of playing in a pitchers park like Shea [...]

Game Recap: Padres 6 – Mets 5
The Mets lost the game and the series to the Padres tonight thanks to a poor outing by John Maine and a lack of situational hitting. The game began with Ramon Castro behind the plate because Brian Schneider was given the night off after complaining of back and leg pain. Castro would later homer in the game. Jake Peavy started and did everything he could to give the Mets the win in the first inning. After a [...]

Brian Schneider Banged Up, Castro Starts
Catcher, Brian Schneider is being given the night off from the series finale with the Padres this evening due to what the Mets are listing as back stiffness and a leg strain. Ramon Castro is getting the start in Schneider’s place. It must have been an easy decision for the Mets to sit him as Schneider is only batting .143 so far this season. Fernando Tatis will be the Mets backup catcher while Schneider is [...]
