The Mets Are Making My HMO’s Day

I’m going to keep this brief. The Mets definitely have a way of tugging at it’s loyal fan’s heartstrings. So far 2010 should be titled the “Big Tease”. The team first teased us with a snail’s paced, dreadful start. Talk’s of axing everyone from Jerry Manuel to probably a CitiField usher started to pop up in the blogosphere. Then out of nowhere, as it always is with them, the Mets went on a rabid tear.  Now once [...]

Who Is R.A. Dickey

The Mets have made it official and have promoted R.A. Dickey while placing Jon Niese on the DL to make room for him. Tonight, Mets fans will get there first look at R.A. Dickey.  We hope his knuckleball will float like a butterfly and keep the Nationals batters off balance.  My expectations are not very high but if his opponent Livan Hernandez can have so much success, why can’t R.A.. Robert Allen Dickey is 35 [...]

5/19 Minor League Report! Nieuwenhuis!

AAA International League: Buffalo 10/12/2, Charlotte 6/8/0 Dylan Owen’s first career AAA outing was surprisingly good, he allowed just 3 runs on 6 hits in 7 innings for the win. The Binghamton connection continued with Jose De La Torre finishing out the game, giving up 3 runs (1 earned) in the final 2 innings. Josh Thole and Ruben Tejada both played tonight, as did Russ Adams, so that’s good news for Bison fans. rf Jesus [...]

Who Snatched The Real David Wright?

Have any of you ever watched the 1956 sci-fi horror classic, “Invasion of the Body Snatchers” starring Kevin McCarthy? The movie was so awesome that it has spawned over a dozen remakes including my favorite version, the 1978 release that starred Donald Sutherland and Brooke Adams. The premise of the movie is simple. One day you wake up to find yourself in a world where everyone you knew was replaced by emotionless clones. They looked the [...]

One Good Thing About Every Mets Game

I live in an area where my cable provider doesn’t carry SNY. Where ESPN, FOX and TBS often black out their games and no one around here has the MLB network. I do get NESN, but who wants to hear what the SOX are doing and all those noisy advertisements? For me, this is really wonderful because I get WFAN with the best baseball announcers team now working. (Vin Scully works solo) So for every [...]

Igarashi’s Return Will Be Welcomed By Mets…

His time in Japan was a precursor to this. Behind his diminutive stature and deceptive motion, was hidden a true ‘Warrior‘, the kind romanticized by western film and looked upon with reverence in Japan. Behind this hard throwing Japanese league veteran burned a fire to compete with the best… So Ryota Igarashi came to America…and to MLB with the New York Mets. Keith Hernandez’s favorite Met these days has to be Igarashi. Whenever his name [...]

Thrown Away, Mets Lose 3-2

Johan Santana went seven strong innings, but an errant David Wright throw proved to be the difference in the bottom of the 9th as the Mets lost 3-2 to the Atlanta Braves. Game Notes Johan Santana had his second straight stellar outing, going 7 innings, giving up 2 earned runs on 5 hits and 2 walks, while striking out 4. Johan looked like he was going to be in trouble for the whole night, already [...]

Big Pelf, Big Win?

For the first time this month, a Mets starting pitcher finally earned a victory.  (Only took them 17 days.)  Last night’s win was a big one for the Mets.  (Seems like we’re always saying that.)  Mike Pelfrey went a solid 7 and 2/3 innings, giving up only two runs.  And though the Mets offense didn’t do too much, in the end, they managed to outscore the fourth place Braves. At this point, that’s what the [...]
