Dickey Sticks It To Pirates, Mets Win 9-1
R.A. Dickey was spectacular tonight and the Mets offense went ballistic in the beginning of the game to secure at least a series tie in beating the Pirates 9-1 on Tuesday. Game Notes R.A. Dickey was great today, going for the complete game win, his only run allowed on an RBI groundout in the ninth inning. R.A. allowed five hits and struck out four and walked three in his complete game victory, and even threw [...]

ESPN, The Worldwide Leader In Snorts
I can’t believe that a smart guy like Rob Neyer would write an article that bashes Mets GM Omar Minaya for trading Heath Bell at the end of the 2006 season. It’s one of the worst cases of Monday Morning Quarterbacking I’ve ever seen from a national sports journalist. I wouldn’t have minded that much if this was some rant on any number of Mets blogs, or on Twitter, but to read this on ESPN was quite surprising and I felt it [...]

K-Rod Tries To Save Relationship, Blows It, Faces New Charges
As being reported on MLB.com, Mets closer Francisco Rodriguez is in hot water again and will face additional charges in his assault case stemming from the incident last month at Citi Field. Prosecutors said Rodriguez violated the order of protection issued against him by sending his girlfriend 56 text messages. As a result, Rodriguez will be charged with criminal contempt. The judge spared Rodriguez immediate jail time for violating the order, but warned that further contact would result [...]

Johan Santana Has Successful Surgery
According to Mets.com, Johan Santana underwent successful surgery on Tuesday to repair a torn capsule in his left shoulder. The procedure was performed by Mets team doctor David Altchek at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. The timetable for Santana’s return is unclear, although the Mets expressed optimism last week that their ace would be “ready to throw during Spring Training”. Others have suggested he likely won’t be strong enough to resume a [...]

About That New Mets GM Job…
The Johan Santana injury has spawned a variety of opinions on what the Mets strategy should be moving forward. With reports and speculation having Johan Santana miss from as little as six months to as long as two years, it’s difficult to predict how the Mets will act this offseason, but their recent history does speak volumes. In 2009, the Mets never did anything to replace Carlos Delgado, their biggest power threat, after he underwent surgery in [...]

Mets Haven’t Learned Anything From Past Mistakes
Last week it was announced that Johan Santana would need surgery to repair the the anterior capsule of his shoulder. What started out as a pectoral injury has now developed Johan Santana having surgery on his pitching shoulder. Of course when the injury first occured there was no MRI. Santana was “day to day” which must be the only phrase Omar’s buddy and head trainer Ray Ramirez knows. Not only was there no MRI or [...]

Gee, Thank The Heavens For Nick Evans – Mets Win 1-0 Over Bucs
Mets take the series opener against the Pirates with a 1-0 win in ten innings. Gee pitched another great start while the bullpen kept it together again. The offense fell silent again with the exception of Nick Evans’ walk-off RBI hit. Game Summary Dillon Gee continues to impress with another great start tonight. Manuel wants to limit him with innings but he still made it to over 100 pitches in the game. Gee was dominate [...]

Ike Davis Needs 8 More RBIs To Break Strawberry’s Record
Whether you are totally jazzed by Ike Davis’ rookie year, or luke warm on it consider this… According to John Schweibacher of WFAN.com, Ike Davis is on the verge of toppling the team record for runs batted in by a rookie, a record that has stood for over a quarter century. Ike Davis continues to climb the Mets all-time leader boards for rookies. Davis’ 18 home runs trail only Darryl Strawberry (26 in 1983) and [...]
