3 Up & 3 Down: The Bar Is Now Open Edition

the-most-interesting-man-in-the-world-looks-smooth-in-a-pinstripe-jacket

Last week I read an article here on MMO, and at the end of the article Joe D. added his comments. Joe was explaining that MMO is not a site that is going to sugarcoat things. We’re going to give it to straight. We’re passionate about the Mets, but we’re not going to insult your intelligence. Joe’s last sentence was “we serve hard liquor here“. Those five words have inspired this edition of 3N3. As [...]

My Personal Attempt To Sabotage The All-Star Game

721_-mlb_all-star_game-primary-2013

It’s that time of the year again. Seven weeks into the season and we are being asked to vote for the 2013 All-Stars. This week Cincinnati came to town. Now, imagine for a moment, if as you walked into Citi Field you were handed a ballot where you could choose which Reds you would want playing that day. Safe to say, we Mets fans would probably decide that Brandon Phillips, Joey Votto and Jay Bruce [...]

Mets Need More Time To Get Better Understanding Of Ike Davis?

Ike sad

Updated Post 7:40 PM Straight from the files of Believe It Or Not, Mike Puma of the New York Post reported via Twitter that Ike Davis is unlikely to be demoted before the end of the weekend. “Was told Ike is on double, secret probation, but likely still be a Met on Friday. Mets will use weekend to get a “better understanding.” If the Mets still need more time to get a better understanding of Davis, they’re not [...]

Mets Swept After Ike Davis Blunder Ignites 7-4 Reds Win

matt harvey

Ike Davis’ troubles at the plate and in the field continued as he botched two plays at first, one in which opened the door to the Reds’ three-run ninth inning in Wednesday’s 7-4 loss. With the Mets being swept, they fell to a season-high ten games below .500. Matt Harvey did not have a great start, but came away with another no-decision. ON THE MOUND: Harvey gave up four runs on nine hits in 6.1 innings. …. Bobby Parnell gave [...]

MLB Denies Mets Appeal On Harvey Run

matt harvey

Update By Clayton Collier on 5/22 at 12:20 PM Major League Baseball has declined the Mets appeal to change an earned run charged to phenom Matt Harvey on Friday at Wrigley Field reports Adam Rubin of ESPNNewYork.com. The move would have lowered the 24-year old’s ERA from 1.55 to 1.41. However, it will remain the former as he takes the hill against the Reds for the series finale to avoid the sweep. Original Post 5/18 1:00 [...]

Logan Verrett Talks About His Road To The Show With MMO

logan verrett gordon donovan

You hear it all the time: it isn’t about velocity, it’s about location. And no one exemplifies that old adage more than Logan Verrett. The 22-year-old Texas native was taken in the third round of the 2011 draft and has been impressive at all three minor league stops. Verrett dominated A ball in 2012 in both Savannah and St. Lucie, combining to make 17 starts and finishing with an ERA of 2.70, a WHIP of 0.968, and [...]

Is Ike Davis Really Mike Jacobs Reincarnated?

Perhaps if Ike Davis closes his eyes, he won't be able to see his lofty strikeout totals.

It always is interesting how people automatically call a hitter that hits homers, strikes out a lot and has a low average “Dave Kingman.” Kong certainly had his issues, but regardless of what you think he still had a 16-year career in which he hit 442 homers. To say that Ike Davis is Kingman would be an insult since that would be an improvement over what he’s producing today. As a matter of fact, a [...]

Sandy Disappointed With Some Of His Moves And The Team’s Performance

sandy alderson sny booth

During the third inning of Tuesday night’s Mets broadcast, general manager Sandy Alderson joined Gary Cohen and Ron Darling in the booth. Alderson is disappointed with the team’s performance this season, particularly with some of the players he acquired for this transition year who did not perform to his expectation. He no doubt was referring to Collin Cowgill, who he expected to become the team’s leadoff hitter and regular center fielder. Cowgill batted .157/.173/.294 before [...]
