PED’s: Which Player Would Really Shock You The Most?

When the news broke yesterday about Manny Ramirez being suspended for using a banned substance, many expressed surprise and some shock. It was the same when Alex Rodriguez admitted he lied and that he did in fact use steroids. When two big players such as A-Rod and Manny Ramirez get thrust into the performance enhancing drugs controversy, it’s going to become a tabloid-like, National Enquirer-esque sensation. The rumors of PED use had already been tied to both [...]

MLB News: What A Steal!

I was inspired to write this post based on something I read in an article by Tyler Kepner of the NY Times this morning. Longoria, 23, is in the second year of a contract that could run for nine years and cost the Rays about $45 million. Rodriguez, 33, is in the second year of a contract that will run for 10 years and could cost the Yankees $305 million. I don’t know how many [...]

Pelfrey Is Doing It Without The Strikeouts

Mike Pelfrey pitched a heck of a game yesterday as he helped to extend the Mets winning streak to four games after a 7-5 clubbing of the Phillies. Pelfrey pitched seven solid innings, but failed to notch one strikeout. It was his second straight game without a whiff. So far this season, Pelfrey has struck out just six batters in 28 innings. He has now gone 76 batters without a strikeout which caused David Wright to playfully [...]

A week ago, Mets fans everywhere were scratching their heads wondering how short of expectations this team was going to fall. Baseball is a funny game, and the baseball season is a long one. This weekend, the Mets welcome in the fourth place Pittsburgh Pirates. This is a [...]

As we all know Manny Ramirez has tested positive for Performance Enhancing Drugs (PED’s) and will serve a 50 game suspension under the drug policy instituted by Major League Baseball.  To be clear Manny did not use a steroid.  The drug found in his system Human Chorionic Gonadatropin (HCG).  Wikipedia identifies the intended use for the drug as: a glycoprotein hormone produced in pregnancy that is made by the developing embryo soon after conception and [...]

The Mets have announced that tonight’s game will be played according to WFAN. Jerry Manuel was a guest this afternoon of Mike Francesa on WFAN. On Santana – If his turn would not have come up at bat, he would have started the eight inning. When asked about the poor run support for Johan Santana, Manuel said he believes it all evens out and that when he doesn’t have a good day we’ll probably win [...]
