Do Mets Have Enough LHP’s To Beat The Phillies?
Last season, the Phillies had one of the best offensive lineups in baseball. They feature three perennial MVP candidates in Ryan Howard, Chase Utley and Jimmy Rollins. Despite the loss of Pat Burrell to free agency, the Phillies were able to upgrade the left field position to a more consistent hitter with the recently signed Raul Ibanez, and more importantly they added yet another dangerous lefthanded hitter to their already potent lineup. In addition to switch hitters [...]

David Wright Vows To Be Better
Kevin Kernan of the NY Post, spoke with David Wright who is hell bent on stopping the Mets’ consecutive September slides. “This winter there’s been a desire, a passion to get into the gym as soon as possible and to get back to the cages because just like last offseason, the way the season ends it leaves a bitter taste in your mouth,” Wright said. “I kind of lost a little bit of aggressiveness last [...]

Putz Is Going To Be Tremendous
Eddie Guardado, the former closer and teammate of J.J. Putz, had glowing remarks for new newest Mets setup man during a conversation with the NY Post. The Mets acquired Putz on Wednesday night at the Winter Meetings in Las Vegas. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound power righty will set up Francisco Rodriguez at the back end of the Mets’ now-impressive pen. Guardado, who spent two-plus seasons with Putz in Seattle, gushed about him yesterday, noting that Putz is [...]

Don’t Ditch Your Oliver Perez Jersey Yet

Q: As negotiations progressed, you looked K-Rod in the eye, and what did he tell you? A: “Hey look, I just want you to know, I would [...]

The Yankees: Bad For Baseball, Bad For America
It has once again become crystal clear there are two sets of rules in Baseball: One for the Yankees and one for everyone else. In a matter of hours, ‘The Evil Empire’ handed out almost a quarter of a billion dollars as if they were the Federal Government bailing out Wall Street. By signing CC Sabathia for 161 million and a marginal pitcher in AJ Burnett for 82 ½ million, the Yankees have once again [...]

Mets Trade Schoeneweis For What?
Update: Saturday, 11:00 AM The Mets agreed to pay $1.6 million of the $3.6 million that Scott Schoeneweis is owed under the terms of Friday’s deal. Wow, we really got hammered on this one. If we were gonna kick in all that cash, we should have gotten back a better player than Connor Robertson. I know many of us wanted Schow out of here, but he really wasn’t so bad when you compare him to [...]

Cole Hamels Calls Mets “Choke Artists”
Cole Hamels had some choice words about the Mets yesterday. If you’re in a good mood, stop reading NOW: On our two September slides: “Last year and this year, I think we did believe that. Three years ago, we didn’t, because they smoked everybody. I really thought that was the year they were going to the World Series. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen. That’s kind of what we believe. … I think we’re always going to [...]
