SNY's Loud Mouths Gave Me A Freakin' Headache
Hang on a few seconds... I'm waiting for my Advil to kick in... Okay, there it goes...
Ahh... Relief at last...
I can't begin to tell you how horrible the new show "Loud Mouths" on SNY is. It features loudmouths Chris Carlin and Adam Schein in a head to head format where they shout about all of the day's top sports stories. The idea for the format is as old as the hills and reminds me of CNN's Crossfire which has since been canceled.
The problem is that even when they agree on something they still manage to shout and talk over each other and disagree as to the reasons why they agree. It's like Jerry Springer meets Hannity and Colmes.
Adam Schein has never been one of my favorites to begin with, and today he reinforced that position by proclaiming Ian Kennedy as the next Greg Maddux based solely on three major league starts. The next Greg Maddux???
Chris Carlin, who I actually enjoy on WFAN, just needs to take some Xanax and calm down. Even so, he didn't endear himself to Mets fans during today's broadcast when he pointed to Mike Hampton as a reason we shouldn't count the Braves out this season. Mike Hampton? Are you serious?
After that gut-wrenching opening the show went into their "Boom or Bust" segment. They actually took the time out to explain what boom or bust meant as if 95% of their sports nuts viewers couldn't figure it out on their own. The topics were what you would expect and the format was archaic at best and a needless spattering of noise at worst.
About 20 minutes into to the broadcast they went into their viewer call-in segment which was being portrayed as spontaneous questions with just as spontaneous answers. Instead you had one email, one voice mail and one live call that was as staged as a showing of Macbeth at Radio City.
I have to apologize to everyone because I could not make it to the end of the show. After 24 minutes I had to bail out. Hopefully, SNY will do the same in very short order.

ian kenndy isn't going to be the next Greg Maddux if any thing the next victor zambrano at least they didn't talk about joba it annoys the hell out of me that every freakin yankee fan thinks he's going to be the best pitcher in the game, does'nt everyone remeber that joe smith start the season with just as long streak without giving up a run

Yeah, it looks absolutely awful. Mike Hampton will help the Braves win the NL East the same way that Timo Perez will win the Tigers a world championship.

No wonder why MetsBlog is on SNY while MetsMerizedOnline isn't doing shit. This website is a total joke, this is about the Mets as a baseball team. Nobody cares about the damn network, this is retarted.

Well I dont get SNY and with a show like this I am glad I don't. I have heard the Ian Kenndy is the next greg Maddux thing before, I for one dont see it. I guess its because they both have fastballs in the mid to high 80's or something. From what I have seen this kid will be a middle of the road #4 maybe #3 starter, with a decent win loss record as long as the Yankees hit from him.

I thought this website was a forum to discuss everything Mets, that includes the network they play on and the personalities that talk about them on air. If being on SNY is a reflection of the quality of the website then there are probably hundreds more fan sites that are in "SNY"s' estimation "retarted"(retarded)
Don't get me wrong, MetsBlog is good and Matt Cerrone and his staff do a fine job, but there are many writers and contributors on this site that I find just as informative and entertaining to read. While I'm sure everyone enjoys constructive criticism, SNY, the filthy language is not necessary to get your point across.

I don't see how this blog knocked SNY? It only implores SNY to ditch this show which in his opinion sucks. I thought it sucked too. I hate it when SNY gives all that exposure to the yankees too. God knows the YES network doesn't give the Mets any exposure outside of a game score. Adam Shine is a total idiot and always has been.

ADAM SCHIEN IS A JOKE! I didn't see the show and I don't think I can watch anything with Schien as the host! Knowing what an arrogant and ignorant jerk he is, I can't even imagine him being pitted against Carlin. Carlin at least has a clue and I've found him to be very knowlegeable. Schein only overstates the obvious and has no original thought. If the show ends up having any success it will be because of carlin and not Schein.

I'd replace Schein with Joe Beningo or that other bald young white dude that is on Daily News Live who's from ESPN Radio. Don't remember his name but he's a loudmouth too.

I was personally upset to see that they shortened Daily News Live to a half hour show to allow the new shows. And also it appears that all the guys on the other shows won't be appearing on DNL.
I watched part of the show in the 5:30 timeslot (can't remember what it's called) but didn't get a chance to watch Loudmouths.
What still irks me about SNY is the fact that they STILL lead shows w/ yankee news instead of mets news.

Ian Kennedy as the next Greg maddux. This is the most absurd comment I have ever heard uttered. Kennedy has like 3 games under his belt and would not even be considered anything more than Masato Yoshi if he was not coming up with the two other studs.
Greg Maddux. Lets see 4 consecutive Cy Young Awards, 347 consecutive wins, 7 consecutive seasons with an ERA below 2.72 including two years with an ERA in the 1's.
Schein has no right being on TV.

I meant 347 career wins not consecutive wins

I'm just glad somebody else said what I was thinking as I watched that show. Mets fans deserve better. The guy who suggested Joe Beningo over Schein has a good idea and that might make the show better. Adam Shien is so annoying but he definitely fits the term loud mouth so you cant fault SNY for trying. I am glad that SNY is at least trying to add some new programming to it's mix. I wish they had a regular fantasy sports show!
