Let's Give Mota A Good Old-Fashioned New York Send-Off!
I know I already posted on this subject, but I can't help myself and I needed to release some more energy.
Can somebody please tell me what kind of drugs the Brewers were taking when they agreed to trade Johnny Estrada for Guillermo Mota. Somebody, please explain to me what their thought process was?
I don't even care at this point how good or how bad Estrada is at throwing out runners. He can hit for average, he can hit for some power, and he can call a good game and block the plate. I would have taken any warm body they were willing to give us for Mota. Hell, I would have even taken a cadaver.
Guillermo Mota has never been a friend of Mets Merized. His signing was a mistake that thankfully has been erased. Goodbye, good riddance and good luck.

the brewers wouldve been better off just buying out estrada if they really didnt want him... why take on mota's contract? the guy's era was almost 6.00 (39 runs in 59 innings!), and of course that doesnt include all the inherited runners he let score. he was even worse in 2006, except for the 18 innings he pitched in september for the mets (but he went right back into form against the dodgers and cards). something is def fishy here...

And the best part is we only have Estrada for one year instead of the 3 years Terrible Torrealba almost got.

Well hey at least I can say Omar is touching up the small vacancies we need to fill. 2nd base and getting rid of Mota in 2 days is good. If they plan on going with a platoon of Estrada & Castro I can deal with it. But if Estrada now can be added in with a few of our "premium" prospects for a trade for a top notch pitcher (Johan, Haren?) and we can re-sign LoDuca-I'll be REAL happy.
Estrada does have good numbers but lets not forget the argument he had in the dugout with the manager last season. He's had little confrontations with most of the managers hes played with (including respected Bobby Cox in Atlanta). So Im not hating on him but he does come with some baggage.
Why you think the Brewers let him go?
Omar said "Hey, how about I give you my pain in the ass and you give me your pain in the ass?"
And the Brewers GM said "DEAL!!"

I saw this quote from Bob Melvin...explains what he saw in Mota:
"We have been looking for a pitcher who can give us multiple innings, and last season, Mota showed he could do that, pitching two innings 13 times."
That one totally cracked me up. Did he SEE the 2nd innings he pitched?

I personally always liked Mota, always thought that Willie used him wrong, along with everyone else in the 'Pen.
Mota has good stuff and I wonder what his splits were when he only pitched 1 inning as opposed to the 2 Willie was convinced he could handle. He'd come in Strike out the side and then come back in for the next inning and get shelled. Steroids or No Steroids the guy has got filthy stuff and I wish him the best......
Now Only if we can trade Willie.....

i agree that mota is talented but the steroid business bothers me alot n any cheater shouldnt b allowed to play...period
