Nats Like Mosquitoes In 13-4 Drubbing Of Mets
Will someone pass the rubbing alcohol please! The Washington Nationals have a thing for the sweet blood of the Mets. For the third time in four tries, the fourth place Nats chewed up the Mets. We couldn't swat them with a fly swatter as large as the home run apple.
This time the Nats took their act to Shea after leaving RFK Stadium for the final time on Sunday. But whether the score was 13-4 or 5-4, it's just one loss. The Mets need to toss this one aside and look forward to the services of Tom Glavine Tuesday night.
With the Phillies idle on Monday, the Mets only slipped a half game. The goal now is to take the series against the Nats and defeat the punchless Cardinals Thursday night. With a two game lead, there is a slim margin for error, but I don't think the Mets want to go there. Take care of your own business. We know we're better than the Nats. Just prove it!
Congratulationa are in order to Moises Alou, who set a Mets club record Monday by hittting in 28 consecutive games. Had Alou not missed several weeks earlier this summer, there would be no pennant race.
It's nice to see Carlos Delgado had a double and single. Good job. We need you.
Turn the page, get a good night's sleep and Tuesday will be terrific.
