Mets Clincher Has Become a Matter of If, Not When
The Phillies have once again closed the gap between themselves and our first place Mets. Not a single good thing came out of the weekend series, except our MVP hopeful David Wright becoming only the third player in Mets history to join the 30/30 club.
Two Mets players were ejected during the series for legitimately arguing balls and strikes. It was as if the Mets were taking on 10 players in the field. The calls were terrible, the pitching was horrible, and the defense, especially in the third game, flat out stunk.
The Phillies are now three and a half games behind the Mets. Up next: I can't see the Cardinals beating the Phillies and helping the Mets cause. I can, however, see the Mets beating the Nationals. The Mets just can't seem to beat the team that's chasing them. If they are trying to make this interesting, this is not the way to do it.
Even if the Mets pull this out and take the division as anticipated, my concern comes when and if the Mets should meet the Phillies again in the postseason. As the wild card team, the Phillies would not play the Mets in the first round of playoffs. But if the Mets and Phillies should both win their first series of postseason play, they would in fact face each other in the League Championship Series. I don't even want to imagine the results.
Comments
1- It is a matter of when, not if.
2- Phillies aren't going to make it to the playoffs.
3- Even if they do, they can't beat the D-Backs or Padres.

Here are some stats as to why the Phils will conquer the NL East and win it. Their hitting is far superior then the METS. Remember METS stands for MY ENTIRE TEAM SUCKS..

Don't look now, the Mets can't even beat the Nationals. 4 errors today. 10 errors in 2 days. Maybe they have been watching the Bad News Bears
!!! This team is disgusting. I used to like Willie, but if the Mets throw away the division, which is entirely possible given how they are playing, then Willie has to go and Omar has to be on a short leash. This team is making me want to vomit!

Oh yeah to the want to be MetsMan. The Mets play in a pitchers park and the Phillies play in one of the best hitters parks in the game.

To compare the Mets offensive stats and the Phils is just stupid. The Phils play in a band box. Just to see the Mets stats are close proves they are a better hitting team. Post the pitching stats and tell me your point again.....Look, Willie has NOT done a good job this season. I would not mind it if he got fired at the end of the season. But, the players have to make the plays and they arent. Going into the Phills series, I was feeling great about the team. Now, I dont know anymore....What good is it if Pedro, Glav and Maine pitch well (with the lead) and the pen blows it? Picture this, NLCS game 6 in Philly. Mets 4-3 lead in the 7th. Rollins, Utley, Howard due up. Willie calls to the pen....Yeah, scares the shit outa me!
