Believe In The Impossible Dream!
What seemed improbable only 24 hours ago has become a reality for the New York Mets. Not only do they win in impressive style on the strength of a masterful pitching performance by John Maine, but with both the Phillies and the Padres both losing this evening, the Mets are back in the game!
They once again are in control of their own destiny, and with a win tomorrow it ensures at the very least a one game playoff with the Philadelphia Phillies. However, should the Phillies lose, the Mets will clinch the division.
Like I wrote this morning...
We've seen how good the Phillies can be when they were chasing first place, now let's see how good they are at staying in first place.
THEY LOOKED TENSE AND THE CROWD WAS MOSTLY QUIET UNTIL THE ROWAND AND HOWARD HOMERUNS.
I also wrote this...
I wonder what they will call the 2007 Mets after we comeback and win the division... The Unbelievable Mets? The I Can't Believe What I Just Saw Mets? The They Came Back And Did What Mets?
Miracles do happen, and they happen quite often for the Orange and Blue!
Tomorrow the Mets will pin their hopes on the crafty left-hander, Tom Glavine, who has been in these big games so many times in his career. Expect another dominating pitching peformance.
Ya Gotta Believe!

All I gotta say is look at what happened in 1999. Mets lead Wild Card by 4 games over the Reds on September 1. From September 1st to October 1st the Reds went 19-8 and the Mets went 12-13 turning a 4 game lead into a 2 game deficient. Mets then sweep three from the Pirates while the Red lose 2 of 3 to the Brewers and forcing a one game playoff in Cincinnati. An Al Lieter complete game 5-0 win and the Mets were on their way.

THERE IS STILL LIFE LEFT IN THIS TEAM< I KNEW IT. Absolutely awsome game today, Maine steps up and shows why hes a stud. I would love to see Glavine follow suite tomorrow and the Nats knock off the Phillies so there wouldnt be a tie breaker now.
LET
GO
METS!!!!

I hope we saved some runs for tomorrow. Willis is undefeated at Shea.
This is the reason Glavine was brought here - to win games like tomorrow. LET'S GO METS!

I hate day games cos here in Australia they are played at like 3am in the morning so when I wake up everything is all said and done.
Although I may have to pull an allnighter and stay tuned to the net to see the Mets push through into October

I got my mets jacket ready as its type cold here in brookly. My boss is a phillies fan, and against his wishes I have given my subway store an orange and blue makeover. Ya gotta believe

They'll call them the Lucky Mets if they Win the East. The Phils had them dead to rights, 1 game up and 2 games against a crap opponent. But much like the Mets choked their 7 game lead the Phils gave a small amount of that choking back to us.
I went to Wednesday's game and exchanged some old Rained Out tickets for todays game, thinking it would just be a lazy day at the park. Better be a sell out!
