Mets News: Joe Smith Goes On DL With Sore Arm

If you thought the Mets were going to get a huge boost from the call-ups on September 1st, think again.

This morning, reliever Joe Smith was placed on the Minor League DL with what is being called a tender biceps on his pitching arm.

Smith has not pitched in 10 days and the Mets originally stated it was just a tired arm.

This comes 24 hours after Ambiorix Burgos had season ending Tommy John surgery that will force him to miss all of next season.

Willie Randolph said that Joe Smith might still be able to contribute once he comes off of the DL, but he is now ineligible to play in the post season.

Three weeks ago Burgos and Smith were being looked at as prominent figures to help our beleaguered bullpen.

I was really looking forward to seeing Joe back on the major league team. Oh well i wish him the best and hope he gets healthy!!

Better luck next year Burgos and Smith

A championship this year really doesn't look like its in the cards. EVERYTHING that could have gone wrong has

0-4 in Philly this week. The dream is over, and we all get to look forward to the Braves snapping our necks. 2007 Mets RIP 04-01-07 to 08-30-07.

Joe Smith is a good reliever. We need him back. Joey heal up so you can be back just in time for the post season. Lets Go Mets!
