Random Observations About This Year's Amazin's
To take a break from pinpointing Amazin’ pluses and minuses at length, I figured I’d take this week to express some observations I have over the team and more. Here goes nothing…
If the Braves get Teixeira, we’re in serious trouble…
If only Howard Johnson were hitting coach last October…
When all is said and done, Wags may end up the team’s MVP this year…
Omar better hold onto Lastings…
Ramon Castro isn’t used enough…
I’m calling it now: Pelfrey is the next Isringhausen: he’ll be a success in another team’s bullpen years from now…
Mets need a set-up guy more than Mota needs his happy pills back…
I’d be cool with Carp and Mulvey going in a deal for Cordero…
Someone needs to give Keith Hernandez his own talk show on SportsNet – oh and a shameless plug, questforkeith.blogspot.com is quite hilarious…
If Piazza’s traded to the Yankees, I’m burning my jersey…
I fear Gotay is the next “flash in the pan” Timo…
Jay Payton can stay with the Orioles as far as I'm concerned...
Aaron, your time’s up now get the Heil out of here…
Management: Thanks for the game-winning hit and welcome to the bigs, but you can go away now, Chip …
I have problems enough spelling Schowenweiss’ last name, please stay away Grudzielanek…
LoDuca needs to lighten up a bit…
Note to Yankees: stop winning…
Note to A-Rod: are you willing to shift to first for us next year?
I miss Endy…
The Mets are like the van in “Little Miss Sunshine,” they keep on going despite appearing to be breaking down…
Jose Valentin may be on the DL, but I hear his mustache is still active…
Julio Franco isn’t as wise as he seemed this time last year huh?
Where’s Shea Hillenbrand and why isn’t he at Shea Stadium?
If I woke up one morning and discovered Beltran was traded, I wouldn’t lose sleep…
Delgado has been looking like vintage Delgado lately only without the power…
Let’s re-record the 1986 “Let’s Go Mets” anthem again only this time no Joe Piscopo…
Nady is a lot like Green in that he can’t field, but at least he can hit…
I still say the D-Train belongs at Shea - I don't care what his numbers say...
I never liked Gregg Jefferies...
Jorge Sosa doesn't look the same...
I could go on, but I'll have you guys add some of your own... Let's Go Mets and please Omar make smart - not panic- moves!

i love this..
although if we woke up to beltran being traded we would watch our mets fall below the marlins in the rankings...he is that important!

Is Rickey Henderson jealous of Jose Reyes, becuase it seems like everyone has been stealing bases expect our best base stealer....

Its actually schoeneweis. And I think he changed his name from "Scot" to "Scott". Anywho I think Grudzielanek would be a decent pickup. He's hitting somewhere in the neighborhood of .280 with RISP. And he's a damn good fielder. Also if Shea Hillenbrand came to the Mets it'd be a disaster with the Media...verbally he's like the white baseball playing Terrell Owens. Although the shea reference could have just been a pun that flew right over my head

I AGREE ON ALOT OF THIS EXCEPT BELTRAN.

Shea Hillenbrand should only be at Shea Stadium in the visitors dugout. The guy is a head case. Plus, he is hitting about .250 with 8 extra base hits in roughly 200 at bats this season. You should probably layoff Heilman, too, in his last 9 games (11 2/3 innings) he has a 2.31 ERA with 8 K's and only 1 BB. I still don't trust him completely in a big spot, but at least he is not Mota!

Good website Keith.
Smart.

Whats up with the Beltran remark! He just got finished hitting 3 homeruns in 3 games... he is a crucial part of the team. Yes, he goes on slumps but who doesn't. If you think there is anyone else who could play center field as well as Beltran, you're wrong!

It's not Piazza's fault if he got traded. And leave Beltran where he is! Outside of those two I totally agree and this was a cool blog!

I may be one of the few people who actually agree with you about Carlos Beltran. We're basically paying him to complain about his quad and then hit three homers in three games. Besides, we still have Gomez (when he gets off the DL) and F-Mar in the minors. Here are a few of my own:
-Keith Hernandez's mustache should have it's own talk show on SNY.
-Ruben Gotay is an everyday second baseman, even if Willie Randolph doesn't realize it yet.
-Is it me, or does everybody in the world know when Jose Reyes is going to steal a base EXCEPT for the catcher of the opposing team?

Jon - What do you mean by the comment about Aaron?
