MLB News: Former Met 2B Ty Wigginton Traded To Astros
The Tampa Bay Devil Rays traded second baseman Ty Wigginton, to the Houston Astros in exchange for reliever Dan Wheeler.
Another nice second baseman option bites the dust...
The 29 year old, right handed hitter originally broke in with the Mets in 2002.
Earlier in the day, the Reds acquired second baseman Jorge Cantu, outfielder Shaun Cumberland and cash from the Devil Rays for LHP Brian Shackelford, RHP Calvin Medlock and future considerations.
Yesterday the Phillies landed Tadahito Iguchi from the White Sox.
It's safe to assume that Ruben Gotay is definitely the second baseman of the present and the future for the New York Mets.

We don't need another free swinging first ball hitter.

I'm still hoping for Mark Loretta....he'd add so much versatility to this Mets team...but it looks like Omar is sticking with ruben. Looks like its going to be another painful trading deadline for the Mets
