Is Milledge Out Of The Picture In Mets 2008 Outfield?

Adam Rubin, Mets beat writer for the Daily News and a favorite here at Mets Merized Online, wrote an interesting article on yet another exciting outfield prospect in the Mets organization. His name is Caleb Stewart and here is just a few lines from that column...

Stewart, who turns 25 on June 11, has a .341 average with seven homers and 30 RBI in 37 games for Double-A Binghamton. The outfielder was named Eastern League Player of the Week for the period ending last Sunday. He’s currently on a 16-game hitting streak, with five multi-hit games in the past week.

It sounds to me like Lastings Milledge picked the wrong time to get injured as he has seen his stock fall as others pass him by on the organizational depth chart. Carlos Gomez, Fernando Martinez, and now Caleb Stewart are shining bright for the Mets right now, while Milledge looks more and more like trade bait everyday.

Stay tuned for our 2007 Mets Merized Top 10 Prospects list which comes out on Thursday!

Make a wish everybody, the Mets Magic Number is 111!
