Endy Chavez Is Sizzling In Winter Ball
Endy Chavez is showing off his bat in Venezuela, ranking fourth in the league with a .380 batting average and fifth with a .560 slugging percentage. He's also scored 10 runs for the Navegantes del Magallanes, who boast the best record in the playoffs at 11-2. Endy continues to make a case for being an everyday player. If I were Shawn Green I'd be concerned.
Anderson Hernandez remains one of the top hitters in the DWL playoffs. The 24-year-old infielder leads the Tigres del Licey with a .389 batting average and 17 runs scored in 18 games. He also has 10 RBIs and has struck out eight times in 72 at-bats. He could get more playing time this season at second base if he continues to improve his hitting.
The New York Mets team up with New York Blood Center for their semi-annual “Mets Blood Drive.” Fans donating blood will receive a voucher redeemable for two tickets to a select home game in April 2007. The Blood Drive will be held on Monday, Jan. 22, 2007 at Shea Stadium during the hours of 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. It's a great way to see if you really bleed Orange and Blue. hee hee hee...
Not for nothing, but I am feeling better and better about Moises Alou playing in left field for us this season. He is one of the most professional hitters out there and he can really mash left-handed pitching. Did you know that over the last 3 years he has the third highest batting average against left-handed pitching? He really changes the whole dynamic of our line-up. I think Alou will have the same effect on Wright as Delgado had on Beltran. I expect big things.
I hope you guys got a chance to read my latest installment of my 2007 Mets Preview. If you haven't already, I invite you to scroll down and check it out.
I also just put up a whole new page of Mets Graphics and hope you guys like them. As always feel free to use them on your own sites.
