Chris Schwinden Answers A Few Questions For MMO

Chris Schwinden

I recently conducted an interview with New York Mets pitcher Chris Schwinden who was kind enough to answer a few questions for me to share with our MMO community. Schwinny was totally cool and I hope you’ll leave him some nice comments. Enjoy! First of all Chris, congratulations on a terrific season in 2011! Anchoring the Bison’s rotation all year was quite an achievement, and of course being named to the mid-season AAA All-Star team was [...]

Michael Fulmer

Well here we go with the second installment of the Official MetsMerizedOnline 2012 Mets Top 20 Prospects list, featuring RHP Michael Fulmer of the GCL Mets, at #19. When the Mets made Fulmer their 1st round sandwich pick in the 2011 draft (44th overall), as compensation for losing Pedro Feliciano as a free-agent, many scouts said he would be a very tough sign due to a commitment to attend the University of Arkansas. The Mets [...]

The 2011 Sterling Award winner at Brooklyn, Muno got off to as fast a start to his professional baseball career as anyone possibly could. In the on-going endeavor to compile as many stats, and as many lists as possible regarding our beloved Amazin’s, here is the NY Mets 2012 Top Ten Left-Handers in the farm system, list. In previous posts I have identified areas of weakness in the farm system at the positions of catcher, and shortstop. Here is another area that desperately needs some upgrading: left-handed pitching. Let’s hope the front office is up to the task. 1. Darin [...]

Trade Target: Jesus Flores

Jesus Flores

One player that Sandy Alderson should target this winter is Washington Nationals catcher, and former Met farmhand, Jesus Flores. The Nationals are unbelievably deep behind the plate not only in the majors, where Wilson Ramos is a budding star, but also in the minors where they are stocked with catching talent at nearly every level. The Nat’s have in-house options at the back-stop position for years to come with such prospects as: Slugger and top [...]

The Arizona Fall League starts it’s 2011 season today, and the Mets have changed their minds on several player assignments to their affiliated team the Peoria Javelinas. They have assigned outfielder Juan Lagares, third-baseman Jefry Marte, and shortstop Wilfredo Tovar, as was previously announced. The Mets have also sent to Arizona, catcher Juan Centeno who spent the 2011 season backing up Francisco Pena at St. Lucie. For the year, the lefty hitting Centeno hit .318, in 157 AB’s [...]

Who Will Be Traded?

Daniel Murphy

Who will be traded? Sandy may not have much money to spend, but he sure needs to fill a lot of holes. The trade market could be a major tool for the Mets heading into the winter. Of course, two unsettling things for Mets fans heading into the off-season, are the present situations at the two defensive positions, shortstop and centerfield. Shortstop will remain up-in-the-air for quite some time. At least until Jose has drank [...]

arizona

When the Mets announced their 2011 entries in the Arizona Fall League recently, people said, “Who are these guys?” and “Aren’t the Mets supposed to send their best prospects to the AFL?” Well frankly, they did. At least in nearly every case they sent the best prospects that they could. The Mets apparent strategy in selecting this year’s participants, entails sending guys who are on the verge of a breakthrough year. Players who had good [...]
