According to Lynn Worthy via twitter, Cesar Puello, Allan Dykstra, Josh Rodriguez, Jeff Walters, and Logan Verrett will be headed to the Eastern League All-Star team. This comes as no surprise, as the B-Mets, at 47-28, have an 8.5 game lead over the Trenton Thunder in the EAS Eastern Division, and have the best record overall in the league. With a high-performing team comes a lot of All-Star nods. I just talked about how well Puello […]
As we were talking about when Ike Davis will make his return to the Mets in the big leagues, he’s been bestowed with today’s Pacific Coast League Player of the Week award. The first baseman enjoyed a week in which he hit a healthy .474/.630/.1.263 in six games. That line includes four home runs, seven RBIs, and eight walks. Those four homers came in back-to-back games; he enjoyed a pair of two-homer games. He probably […]
Catcher Kevin Plawecki slammed a two-out, three-run homer in his first at-bat with Advanced-A St. Lucie last night, who beat Palm Beach by the score of 8-6. The 2012 first round draft pick added an RBI-double and went 2-for-5 with four RBIs in the game. Plawecki, Jayce Boyd and Bret Mitchell had been promoted from Savannah to St. Lucie before the game which you can read below. Original Post 6/20 This isn’t shocking news, but we’ve been […]
Michael Fulmer is continuing his road to recovery from knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus earlier this spring. After throwing five innings last week in an extended spring training game, the right-handed pitcher threw another four innings on Wednesday. In talking with people on twitter, Fulmer said he’s expecting to make one more start before taking his rehab to the Gulf Coast League. At this point, he’s unsure as to whether he’ll be reporting to Advanced-A […]
The Mets offense at the big league level has been pathetic recently. Actually, pathetic is probably the nice way to put it. Their inability to do anything at the plate was once again highlighted in last night’s affair, as Dillon Gee drove in the only run of the game for New York in their heartbreaking 2-1 loss to the Atlanta Braves. With that being said, the lineup is in dire need of a boost. Over […]
Jayce Boyd was a sixth-round draft pick by the New York Mets in last year’s MLB Draft, and has certainly made people within the organization take notice with his performance with the Savannah Sand Gnats through 62 games this season. After signing with New York, the Florida State University product joined the Cyclones in Brooklyn for 54 games and 201 at-bats. He put together decent numbers in his first professional season (.239/.320/.368), but certainly nothing eye-popping. […]
He very well could be in the air flying to Las Vegas right now, but in addition to getting promoted to Triple-A today, Baseball America tabbed Rafael Montero on their weekly Prospect Hot Sheet. The right-hander made the list because of his seven shutout innings in a win against Altoona on June 8th. The performance included only two hits and one walk allowed, while striking out six. Montero has been getting a lot of attention, and rightfully so. […]
A few moments ago, left-handed reliever Jack Leathersich tweeted the following: Flight to Vegas #GoMets — Jack Leathersich (@LeatherRocket) June 13, 2013 Unless he’s going out to Vegas to play the slots, one would assume he’s getting promoted from Double-A Binghamton to Triple-A Las Vegas. Earlier this week, Sandy Alderson said on WFAN with Mike Francesa he wouldn’t be opposed to promoting minor leaguers straight from Double-A to the major leagues. It looks like Leathersich […]
There’s no way this should be surprising news. Cesar Puello had another monster week for the Binghamton Mets earning him the honor of being named the Eastern League Player of the Week. Puello’s name has been in the news a lot over the past few days because of news surfacing about the Miami Biogensis clinic, but he hasn’t let those distractions get in the way of his play on the field. In 24 at-bats over the past […]
