Mets and Santana Begin a New Era
The New York Mets proudly introduced their newest addition in a formal press conference today. Top ace pitcher Johan Santana is now officially a Met and very happy to be representing the great city of New York. General manager Omar Minaya spoke first announcing, "It is an historic day today for the New York Mets franchise." Mets Acquire RHP Brian Stokes from the Rays
The Mets have reportly acquired relief pitcher Brian Stokes from the Tampa Bay Devil Rays for cash. Stokes went 2-7 with a 7.07 ERA in 62 1/3 innings last season. The 28-year old will battle for a spot in the Mets pen in the spring. Sorry I’m not reporting more exciting news but maybe this is a start of something big!

Wright Up For Hitter of the Year
David Wright is one of 10 players nominated for the Hitter of the Year award presented by Major League Baseball. Wright has put up some impressive numbers this year including becoming the fourth youngest player to join the 30-30 club. He finished with a .325 batting average, a .416 on-base percentage, 30 homeruns, 34 stolen bases, 113 runs and 107 RBIs. Center fielder Carlos Beltran was named National League Player of the Week today. Recently coming off the DL, Beltran showed everyone he was healthy and ready to play some ball. In the last two series against the Pirates and the Nationals, Beltran went 9-for-24 with 4 homers and 10 RBI’s.
