Oliver Perez Will Sign This Weekend Or Mets Will Move On?

Last week I wrote that I had a hunch that if Oliver Perez was going to sign with the Mets, it would happen by this weekend. I still feel that way, but I’m a little skeptical about whether Oliver Perez wants to play for the Mets in the first place. He has said nothing about having a desire to return to the Mets in all this time. What is he waiting for to take the [...]

I spoke with two people over at the Sh…er…Citi Field ticket office. So weird to say that. I asked them when the single game tickets will go on sale, and if Opening Day and the Subway Series will be a part of that. Here’s what they told me. While there is [...]

Will Mets Get 60 Homers From Their Outfield?

I’m a little worried about where our power will come from in 2009. We can easily count on Carlos Beltran to hit at least twenty-five homers and most likely thirty, but then what? The Mets don’t have that prototypical power hitting corner outfielder in left field or right. The most homeruns that right-fielder Ryan Church ever hit in a season was fifteen, and at 30-years old, he isn’t getting any younger or better. Who knows what we can expect [...]

If Mackowiak makes the team he will have a base salary of $600,000 and he has a chance to earn an additional $200,000 in bonuses depending on plate appearances between 250 and 500. Mackowiak, 32, played in [...]

Is Jeff Kent A Hall Of Famer?

With the retirement of second baseman Jeff Kent now a thing of the past, the argument now shifts to his credentials for the Hall Of Fame. In my opinion, he is not only worthy of the Hall of Fame, but he should be a first ballot Hall of Famer. What sets him apart from the tainted numbers of other sluggers in his era, was Kent’s vehement opposition to steroids. Let’s look at what some in [...]

Mets Sign Pitcher Freddy Garcia

According to Adam Rubin of the Daily News, the Mets have signed righthanded starter Feddy Garcia. Freddy Garcia is a Met. The righthander agreed to a minor-league deal with the Mets tonight, the Daily News has learned. It’s believed he can earn as much as $8 million to $9 million if he makes the team and reaches all of his incentives. Nice signing for the Mets, especially if Garcia returns to his pre-injury form. It’s [...]
