According to Adam Rubin, The Mets placed center fielder Carlos Beltran on the 15-day disabled list today with a bone bruise on his right knee. The team called up Fernando Martinez from Class AAA Buffalo today, though he wasn’t expected to be there in time for tonight’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals. Donald Fehr Stepping Down As Union Boss
ESPN is reporting, that Donald Fehr is stepping down as executive director of the Major League Baseball Players Association. Don Fehr joined the MLBPA as general counsel in August of 1977 and was named executive director in December of 1985. According to several sources including Bart Hubbuch of the NY Post, the Buffalo Bisons released outfielder/first baseman Wily Mo Pena and infielder Javier Valentin today. The Mets released two veterans, outfielder Wily Mo Pena and infielder Javier Valentin, from Triple-A Buffalo today while activating newly claimed left-handed reliever Arturo Lopez to the Bisons’ roster. Oliver Perez Takes Another Step Forward
Oliver Perez took a big step forward in his rehab today and seems to be nearing a return which could have him back by early July.
