I was holding out hope that he could do it, but Kirk Nieuwenhuis was beaten out for the NL Rookie of the Month award by Arizona Diamondbacks left-hander Wade Miley, who went 3-0 with a 1.29 ERA in April. Congratulations to Flushing’s own Mr. Met on being named the most popular mascot in sports by Forbes Magazine. The “veteran, kid-friendly mascot”, they say, “has taken on a greater role during the Mets’ troubled years”. Ain’t that the truth?
