MMO Mets Quotables: Phlying High Edition
I feel sorry for all those saps who claimed they wouldn’t go see or in some cases watch this team because of some stupid protest against the Mets owners. What about all the princes and paupers who predicted doom and gloom and falling attendance, and the seers and prophets who refused to give this Mets team a chance? What a bunch of whiny, uninformed, poor excuse for Met fans they turned out to be. Proud to be [...]

System Failure: No End In Sight For Mets Bullpen Implosions
In eleven save opportunities, the Mets bullpen now has five blown saves. That’s not a typo – Five blown saves to go with six saves for the season so far. Every time that bullpen gate opens, no matter who emerges from it, the odds that they will protect any size lead is a little bit better than 50/50. A revamped bullpen you say? The Mets saw fit to expend 75% of their available $14 million [...]

Hey Kirk, There’s Always May…
I was holding out hope that he could do it, but Kirk Nieuwenhuis was beaten out for the NL Rookie of the Month award by Arizona Diamondbacks left-hander Wade Miley, who went 3-0 with a 1.29 ERA in April. Nieuwenhuis led all major league rookies with a .325 batting average and 26 hits in April. He was second in runs scored (11), tied for third with two home runs and fourth with eight RBI. Nieuwenhuis’ .325 batting average is the [...]

The Most Popular M (mascot) In Sports
Congratulations to Flushing’s own Mr. Met on being named the most popular mascot in sports by Forbes Magazine. The “veteran, kid-friendly mascot”, they say, “has taken on a greater role during the Mets’ troubled years”. Ain’t that the truth? Mr. Met beat out the Phillie Phanatic who finished in second place in their rankings. In other news, Metsblog named the Mets’ letter “M”, the “Best M in Baseball”. Read more here.

How ‘Bout Them Cowboys… Err Mets…
After tonight’s series win against the Rockies, the Mets filed out of the clubhouse one by one dressed in western garb as they head down to Houston, Texas for the start of a three game showdown with the Astros. Here are a few pictures courtesy of the Mets. Ruben Tejada & Dillon Gee look like outlaws. Jon Niese is heading to the saloon for some whiskey. Don’t mess with Ike Davis, the fastest gun in [...]

Regarding Ike’s Slump At The Plate
I was certain heading into last night’s contest that first baseman Ike Davis had bid farewell to his week and a half long slump to start the season. His 5-18 spurt with three homers and six rib-eye steaks gave me hope that the worst was behind him and that it would be smooth sailing from here on in. Then he goes 0-for-5 last night against the Giants and picks up two more strikeouts to add to the [...]

Watch It Again: Bay’s Sensational Catch
Last night, Jason Bay had a coming out party of sorts as he not only belts his second home run of the season and is showing some signs he may be ripe for a rebound, but he also made a sensational leaping catch to rob Jack Wilson of a home run in the fifth inning. “It’s one of those things, it’s almost like tunnel vision. I know I’m getting close to the wall, I know it’s there, [...]

Mets Were Rocking Their Road Grays In Philly!
I loved how sharp the Mets looked in their 2012 road uniforms which are an homage to 1962. They look even better dirty!
