I’ve been a die-hard Mets fan for 30 years. When I’m not watching Mets baseball, I’m talking or blogging about it. My favorite Mets story is about the bottom of the 10th, Game 6, ‘86 series. The Kid, Kevin Mitchell, & Ray Knight all said the same thing, verbatim, at 1B. “I wasn’t making the last out of this f’n World series.”

Lucas Duda Has the Most to Prove in 2014

There are many players that have a lot to prove in 2014. Let’s break it down between our position players and pitchers.  Position Players Ruben Tejada needs to prove he is a major league shortstop.  Daniel Murphy needs to prove he can improve defensively, while maintaining his offensive prowess.  Ike Davis needs to prove that […]

Considering A Mets Infield That Likely Returns Unchanged

Joe D. asked: Even before last season ended, there was a general sense that the Mets infield would be revamped to some degree for the new season. This was further advanced when Sandy Alderson appeared on WFAN and mentioned first base and shortstop as his two top priorities this Winter. It’s now obvious the same […]

Considering How The Mets Offseason Has Gone

I think the Mets have had a decent off season thus far.  Going into the offseason I felt the Mets needed to sign 7 or 8 players that would be on the 40 man roster for the majority of the 2014 season. Those 7 or 8 would be two outfielders, two relievers, two starting pitchers, […]

Are We Better In 2014: The Bullpen

In the final part of the “Are We Better?” series, we’ll focus on the bullpen. On the outside looking in, the 2013 Mets pitching staff seemed like a strength of the organization.  Our rotation finished with the 8th best ERA amongst all teams, and the bullpen seemed to be average, with good seasons from Bobby Parnell, LaTroy […]

Are We Better In 2014 Than 2013: The Mets’ Starting Rotation

We recently ran through the position players on the current Mets roster, and projected the opening day position players vs the 2013 opening day Mets.  It’s pretty safe to say that we are in much better shape, on paper at least, than we were last year at this time.  Let’s see how the arms stack up […]

Tackling 4 Main Arguments Against Signing Stephen Drew

Why should the Mets sign Stephen Drew?  I mean, 3 years and $30-36 million is crazy for Drew, right?  Here are some of the arguments flying around this offseason regarding Drew. “He’s not worth it, he’s just barely average.”   “Drew is hurt all the time. He is way too injury prone.” “Drew costs too […]

Are We Better In 2014 Than 2013: Position Players

I thought it might be fun to take a look at where we are right now, in comparison to last year at this time.  To make things a little more comparable, lets assume that today’s roster is what we open the season with. Behind the plate Travis d’Arnaud is replacing John Buck, and while TDA […]

A Breakout Season For Daniel Murphy

A Breakout Season For Daniel Murphy

Earlier in the offseason, there were whispers of Daniel Murphy possibly being moved, which made me think about Murphy’s value, and if it really  is at its peak. If his value is at its peak, should we move him, or should we sign Murphy to an extension and make him part of our future playoff runs?  Let’s […]
