Mets And Royals Discussing A Trade For R.A. Dickey?
Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com has reported that the Royals have contacted the Mets regarding R.A. Dickey. At this point it is unknown how far the talks have gone, and whether or not any names were discussed. The Royals are on the prowl for starting pitching, and would love to have Dickey headline a rotation that also includes the newly acquired Ervin Santana, and the recently signed Jeremy Guthrie. The Royals have also recently been linked [...]

Alderson Has Given Mets Fans Nothing To Be Thankful For
Mets General Manager Sandy Alderson has not given the Mets fans much to be thankful for so far this offseason. It is almost the end of November, and all he has done is make a few minor league signings. At this point it’s tough to say whether or not the players he has signed thus far are going to help us next year or not. But from the looks of the numbers those players have put up [...]

Marlins Lied To Reyes
Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com is now reporting that the Miami Marlins made verbal promises to Jose Reyes and Mark Buehrle that they would not be traded. They were apparently told that they were players to be counted on and not to worry about being dealt. The promises made were only verbal, as Miami has a club policy of not giving players no-trade clauses in their contracts. Those promises lasted less than one full year, as both [...]

Melky Cabrera Signs With Blue Jays
Free agent outfielder Melky Cabrera has inked a two year deal with the Toronto Blue Jays, according to Enrique Rojas of ESPNdeportes.com. The deal is reportedly worth $16 million and is currently pending a physical. Melky was having a career year leading the National League batting .346 for the San Francisco Giants, before coming up positive for elevated levels of testosterone. He was given a 50-game suspension which he served during the second half and into the Giants playoff run. Due [...]

Do The Mets Have What It Takes To Get Justin Upton?
In the wake of Tuesday’s blockbuster deal between the Miami Marlins and Toronto Blue Jays, I think it is only fair that the Mets make a blockbuster trade of their own. Justin Upton is still available, and despite the lack of rumors linking the Mets and D’backs in trade discussions, my hope is that GM Sandy Alderson has at least inquired about the young right fielder. A talent like Upton NEVER becomes available at such a young [...]

Can Ike Davis Crack The 40 Home Run Mark?
Ike Davis had a first half to forget in 2012. But he rebounded in the second half to produce high end power numbers. Ike became the first Met player to reach the 30 home run mark since Carlos Delgado jacked 38, and David Wright hit 33 in 2008. Davis displayed the kind of power you hope to get from a future clean up hitter. Ike will turn 26 just before opening day in 2013, and will enter a [...]

Super-Agent Scott Boras Says Mets Are “In The Freezer”
A year ago at this time the Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers were in very similar situations. Both clubs were going through some difficult financial times, and we were hearing frequent rumblings about their respective owners having to sell their teams. Fast forward a year, and the Dodgers have been sold for $2 billion, and went on a spending spree. While the Mets received some good news regarding the Madoff case, they are still looking at “bottom end” free agents, [...]

So Who’s Excited About The Bay/Duda Platoon In 2013?
The Mets brass has made it clear that they don’t intend on cutting Jason Bay, but who knows if that will be the case or not. Sandy made a statement when he first arrived, and cut Luis Castillo and Oliver Perez in his first Spring Training at the helm. Next season will be no different, as he will enter the Spring with a drastically underachieving, grossly overpaid player in Bay. Although this time I don’t [...]

Should The Mets Trade Wright To The Dodgers For Ethier?
Over the past week some rumors from ESPN’s Buster Olney have surfaced that Dodgers outfielder Andre Ethier might be available on the trading block. With the news today that the Mets and David Wright may have hit a snag in their negotiations, my mind began to churn up possible trade scenarios. David Wright for Andre Ethier swap might benefit the Mets for a few reasons. 1. He plays right field, and the Mets desperately need a starting outfielder. 2. [...]
