Terry Shuffles Lineup, Who Should Bat Cleanup?

I like what Collins did in finally moving Bay down in the order.  I know it was made easier because guys like Murphy, Turner and Pagan are hitting so well right now.  But, it was a much deserved demotion for Jason who has not been the player we thought we were signing.  WIth Bay out as the Cleanup hitter for now, the question is who should bat 4th and what are some other lineup possibilities? Collins [...]

Rant: Did Jason Bay Really Need A Scheduled Day Off Yesterday?

I understand that Jason Bay had a scheduled day off yesterday. But with Reyes having to leave for a family emergency how does that not change the plans??? Can someone please explain this to me because I feel like that was a Jerry Manuel move yesterday!  That kind of stuff is a huge pet peeve of mine, and here’s why it upsets me. Reason 1: We are struggling as a team right now to score runs, and due to a [...]

The Invisible Top Prospect Wilmer Flores

Amidst this crazy season, it’s easy to forget about a guy who most of upper management is hoping will be apart of the team’s future within the next few years. Flores, 19, is the prototypical Mets prospect in that he’s young and raw with unlimited amounts of potential. They signed him as an undrafted free agent out of Venezuela back in 2007, hoping he’d quickly find his way up to Flushing. It’s going into his [...]

Mets Fans And Yankee Fans Have A Mutual Dislike For Each Other

Over the past few seasons a lot of the talk has been about how the Subway Series has lost it’s juice.  People say it’s not the same anymore.  Radio personalities say that once it moved from 3 games a year to 6 games,  and now alternating stadiums every year, that it became diluted. I disagree with all of that. The Subway Series is a time for New Yorkers to engage in friendly banter.  Whether it [...]

Tejada Up, Who’s On 1st, What’s On 2nd, I Don’t Know’s On 3rd.

After the extra inning loss to the Fish, the Mets made some roster moves in the wake of Wright’s injury.  Chin Lung Hu, who did not hit at all, was sent to the minors for the slick fielding Reuben Tejada.  Ryota Igarashi was also optioned to Buffalo, as Pedro Beato was activated.  Sandy Alderson also said that Nick Evans would be called up later today once David Wright was officially placed on the DL. Reuben [...]

There Was A David Wright And Jason Bay Sighting In Houston

It was great to see Bay and Wright homer last night, but with the hopes that those home runs get these guys going, there is still no doubt that Jose Reyes, Ike Davis and Carlos Beltran have been by far the best hitters on the team so far this season.  Ike Davis is becoming a player teams game plan for, which is a great sign, as he is a huge part of the future.  But, [...]

The Cory Vaughn Story

Cory Vaughn is rated as the the Mets 7th overall prospect in the farm system. He is the son of former big league slugger Greg Vaughn, and has followed in his fathers footsteps on the fast track to the major leagues. The 22 year old outfielder was the Mets 4th round pick out of San Diego State in the 2010 draft, 122nd overall. Cory Vaughn has good size at 6’3, and this kid has all [...]

Mets Seek Rocky Mountain Redemption

Two weeks ago the Rockies left the Mets beaten and bewildered. They came into Citi Field, and swept the Mets in four straight games. The four game sweep capped off a dreadful home stand, one that saw the Mets go 1-6 as they opened their season in Citi Field. At the time, the Mets had come home having given their fans some hope with a few quality wins early on. But as Troy Tulowitzki stepped [...]

Sandy Has More Moves Than You Think

With the recent rumors about a potential trade for Jose Reyes swirling, it got me to thinking about who else we could trade.  When I started to think about it, surprisingly, a lot more players seemed potentially intriguing to other teams depending on their circumstances. Teams are not desperate yet, but some inevitably will be as this season goes a long.  Eventually a team who is in a race will lose a key starter, reliever or [...]

Mets Need A Win, Schedule Gets Very Tough This Week

Coming off the 6 game winning streak we really need to find a way to win today’s game against Cliff Lee. Following up that streak with a 4 game losing streak almost erases all of the progress we just made. It is important for the confidence of this team going forward. It is also important because things don’t get any easier this coming week, even though we are heading home. The defending champion San Francisco [...]

Is Ike Davis The Solution At Cleanup Spot?

Mets vs. Padres

There are going to be a lot of changes over the next year. But I think it’s a pretty safe bet to say that Ike Davis is as close to untouchable as anyone could be on this Mets roster. That is for good reason, since there is no reason to move a 25 year old budding young power hitter, who is under the teams control for the next 6 seasons. Unless the Mets fill the [...]
