Dwight Gooden to Star in Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew; Oh Boy!

This article I found on ESPN New York sort of shocked me a bit, considering that Dr. K was saying that he is going great. Adam Rubin is reporting that Dwight Gooden will be one of the newest stars on Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, which is a reality show on VH1. This show is basically a video diary that shows celebrities going through rehabilitation for addictions to alcohol, drugs, and other addictions. This will be an [...]

R.A. Dickey’s Got a New Knuckleball

MetsBlog.com’s Matthew Cerrone posted pictures of R.A. Dickey’s throwing session.   According to Cerrone, R.A. Dickey now has a new and improved knuckleball. We all seen last season that R.A. Dickey’s knuckleball was really nasty. Now, it looks like its only going to get even more nasty as it takes on the movement of a circle change which just dies at the plate.  Cerrone says that R.A. Dickey used his new slow knuckler in several games last season, but had [...]

Was Ollie Guaranteed a Spot on the Roster?

During the offseason, Sandy Alderson said that if Luis Castillo, and Oliver Perez didn’t earn a spot on the roster, that both of them would be cut. Unfortunately Mets fans, Sandy Alderson is apparently changing his stance on him.  As Terry Collins talked to reporters on Friday, Collins revealed that both him and Sandy Alderson promised Oliver Perez that he will get a chance to win a spot in the rotation or be in the bullpen if he does not win a job as as a starting pitcher. [...]

Daily News: Howard Johnson Leaves Mets

According to the New York Daily News, sources have told the paper that Howard Johnson has decided to leave the Mets organization.  Johnson played for the Mets from 1985-1993, joined the coaching staff in 2007 as first base coach, and later became the hitting instructor.  He served in that role under Jerry Manuel, and while he seemed headed for reassignment once the team dismissed Manuel at the end of last year, team insiders assumed that [...]

Would the Mets Call Sabathia If He Opts Out of Yanks Deal?

As most of you know, there has been talk lately about CC Sabathia and his contractual clause that allows him to opt out of his current 7-year, $165 million dollar deal.  CC has said that anything is possible. Let me ask you this.  If C.C. Sabathia were to opt out of his current contract, would the Mets be interested and would you want them to pursue him? The Mets have not had a great rotation over the [...]

Will Chris Capuano Win A Spot In The Rotation?

Yesterday in my Key Players post, I included Chris Capuano as one of the players to watch this Spring because its going to be interesting to see whether or not he will win a spot on the rotation or be part of the bullpen.  I asked MetsBlog’s Michael Baron this particular, but yet intriguing question about Chris Capuano yesterday. According to Michael, Capuano will apparently be competing early on for a spot in the rotation, but then again Terry Collins [...]

Key Players To Watch in Spring Training

I cannot believe its finally here!  I have been sitting at home bored out of my mind all winter long without any baseball going on.  But, we are finally going to be getting some added excitement in the days ahead, as spring training has finally arrived.  In 3 days, pitchers and catchers are to report to the Mets camp in Port St. Lucie, Florida, and signal the start of spring training.  There are several players and spring [...]

Mets Made Offer to Alfredo Aceves; Chose Red Sox Instead

According to ESPN New York’s Adam Rubin and ESPN MLB analyst Buster Olney, the Mets reportedly made an offer to free-agent reliever Alfredo Aceves. The deal was reportedly a major-league contract worth $500,000, with an additional $100,000 in incentives.  Unfortunately, Aceves chose to sign with the Red Sox instead.  Aceves appeared in ten games for the Yankees in 2010, and he went 3-0 with a 3.00 ERA in 12 innings before missing the rest of [...]

Lets Focus On Spring Training, People!

Thankfully, spring training is around the corner.  Everyone is preparing for another season of Mets baseball.  This is the time of year that I love the most.  (Besides the Daytona 500, and E3 Expo).  There has been plenty this offseason to talk about (Chris Young, Sandy Alderson, Terry Collins, etc), but the main talk of the offseason has been mainly about the Wilpons and their mega million dollar lawsuit from the trustee in the Bernie Madoff Ponzi scheme.   We all [...]

Piazza Talks Ownership, Mets Fans, Future in Baseball

Mike Piazza was honored last night, along with Angel Pagan, at the Thurman Munson Awards Dinner in Manhattan. Piazza was asked about the ownership situation, and he talked about Mets fans in this situation.  He told this to reporters. “For me, I think of the fans [who] are frustrated, and I get a little frustrated for them because they have been truly loyal to the team. Again, they have a beautiful new stadium and a [...]

Madoff Trustee Accused Of “Character Assassination”

According to the NY Daily News, the attorneys for Fred Wilpon are accusing the trustee in the lawsuit against them of  “character assassination”, as well as trying to leak files out to the media for their viewing pleasure.  Counsel for the Wilpons are also filing a motion not to have any sealed records and files released to the media.  This motion, according to the article, was filed Monday and stated that the publics interest in the [...]
