Have Your Feelings Toward Bobby V Changed Now That He’s With Red Sox?
A couple days ago, I brought a question up to MMO Facebook fans regarding Bobby Valentine. I asked the following question. If Bobby Valentine becomes the Red Sox new manager, will you still like Bobby V, or will this move make you want to hate him? After I posted this question, Mets fans responded with some very passionate and heated responses. It was great to read everyone’s opinions on the matter and from most of [...]

Francisco Cordero Makes the Most Sense for The Mets
So far this offseason, the Mets have been linked to several free-agent closers including Joe Nathan, Matt Capps, Frank Francisco, and Jonathan Broxton. The team has also been linked to one player who, in my opinion, probably makes the most sense for the Mets. Francisco Cordero. Cordero, who was with the Reds in 2011, saved 37 games, won 5 games, and had a 2.45 ERA in 68 appearances. Out of the list of potential closers [...]

With Thanksgiving Out of the Way, What Will The Mets Do?
Its great to be back at MMO. Did you guys miss me? Now that we have had our yearly helping of turkey, stuffing, cranberries, a glass of wine, and shopping mall fights for a $2 waffle maker on Black Friday, its time to find out whats going to happen in the ever so unpleasant world of the New York Mets. Yes, I used the word unpleasant. In less than one week, the MLB Winter Meetings will commence [...]

MMO Take Five with Eric Simon of Amazin’ Avenue
Eric Simon – Amazin’ Avenue Brandon Butler: Jose Reyes won the batting title over Ryan Braun. Reyes also made the Mets season-finale controversial after he pulled himself out of the game when he hit a bunt single. What are your thoughts on the controversy, as well as Reyes clinching the batting title? Eric Simon: The only thing controversial about removing Reyes from the game was possibly short-changing the fans who schlepped out to Citi Field [...]

Enough Already, Reyes Should Be The Guy The Mets Sign
This week, I read two interesting posts on MMO, one from my good friend and colleague Clayton Collier asking “Is C.J. Wilson A Better Signing Than Jose Reyes“, the other from my good colleague Ben Yoel, who asked “Should the Mets sign Yu Darvish over Jose Reyes“. Both articles were very interesting. However, in all seriousness, Jose Reyes should be the guy the Mets sign because if they don’t, then there will be a negative effect [...]

If Jose Reyes Re-signs, Payroll And Flexibility Take a Major Hit
I came across a short, but interesting piece from Chris McShane of Amazin’ Avenue that talked about the future payroll of the Mets if Jose Reyes resigned with the team. During Thursday’s media event at Citi Field, GM Sandy Alderson said that resigning Reyes “can happen” within the $100-110 million dollar projected payroll. However, signing Jose Reyes to an extension comes with a problem he warned, that would affect the teams payroll flexibility for the [...]

MMO Take Five With Real Dirty Mets Blog’s Ed Marcus
The Real Dirty Mets Blog – Ed Marcus (Rusty Jr) For this weeks edition of MMO Take Five, I spoke with Real Dirty Mets Blog’s very own Ed Marcus (AKA Rusty Jr). Brandon Butler: What are your thoughts on the Mets potentially changing Citi Field’s dimensions? Ed Marcus: I am pretty ambivalent on the altering of the dimensions of Citi Field. I admit I was never fond of the quirkiness of the dimensions, but bringing [...]

Jose Reyes On Resigning: “I Don’t Know If I’ll Be Back”
Adam Rubin of ESPN New York, caught up with Jose Reyes earlier today and asked him about his future with the Amazin’s. Jose had some nice words to say about the Mets, and how he feels about resigning with the club. “I don’t know if I’m going to be back or not…This is the only team that I played for so far in my whole career…I feel comfortable here. I feel good with the ownership. [...]

We Don’t See Pitchers Winning 25 Games Very Often…
I want to push all the Mets stuff aside for at least one small post, to mention something going on in the world of Major League Baseball that i think we should look at (and NO it doesn’t involve “hat-gate”). We’ve seen Sandy Koufax win 25 games and go onto win the MVP and Cy Young that season. We now have the opportunity to witness a pitcher reaching the 25 win plateau again, joining the [...]

What Are the Top Priorities for the Off-Season (After Reyes)?
Now that the Mets are officially eliminated from playoff contention this year, its time that we start thinking ahead towards the off-season, and what the Mets might do to rebuild this team for 2012, and (possibly) beyond. With the Mets rebuilding for 2012, there are some priorities that the team needs to address first, and foremost. We should all know by now that the top priority for this off-season will be to resign the Mets [...]

MMO Take Five with MetsBlog’s Brian Erni
MetsBlog – Brian Erni For this weeks edition of MMO Take Five, I spoke with my good friend Brian Erni, from MetsBlog, and asked him about several hot Mets topics this week including Mike Pelfrey, Bobby Parnell, etc. Please enjoy. Brandon Butler: Jason Bay is contributing to the team with his excellent hitting over the past week and a half. In his last 10 games, Bay is hitting .353, with 3 HR’s, and 12 RBI’s. [...]
