Good morning Mets fans! The free agent market got a little larger yesterday after the non-tender deadline last night.

The Mets tendered contracts to all of their players yesterday before the 8 p.m. deadline.

Mike Puma of the New York Post reports that the Mets are open to the idea of giving Jay Bruce a three-year deal. However, he is still looking for a five-year deal at the moment.

Former Met, Jordany Valdespin, tweeted out an apology to Terry Collins and Sandy Alderson.

Welington Castillo became the first position player to sign a major-league deal after agreeing to a two-year, $15 million contract with a third-year option with the Chicago White Sox.

Joe Maddon admitted that the Chicago Cubs will likely lose Jake Arrieta in free-agency.

Shohei Otani was officially posted after MLB ratified the new posting agreement. He will have between now and 11:59 p.m. on December 22nd to sign with a club.

Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports that St. Louis Cardinals executives are set to meet with Giancarlo Stanton‘s representatives. Sources believe a deal could be finalized in the coming days if Stanton is willing to accept a trade to them or the San Francisco Giants.

The Toronto Blue Jays acquired shortstop Aledmys Diaz from the St.Louis Cardinals in exchange for outfielder J.B. Woodman.

Former Yankees bench coach Rob Thomson will join the Philadelphia Phillies staff in the same capacity. He was with the Yankees for 28 years. The Phillies also promoted Ricky Kranitz to pitching coach and hired Chris Young, who will be leaving the Houston Astros (this Chris Young is not the outfielder or the pitcher that played for the Mets in recent years).
