ESPN Analyst Aaron Boone Named Yankees Manager

The New York Yankees have finally decided on a new manager and it’s former player Aaron Boone according to Bill Madden of New York Daily News.

Boone is taking over for Joe Girardi whose contract was not renewed after a ten-year stint with the Yankees. The Yankees are coming off a somewhat surprising playoff appearance in 2017.

Boone retired from his playing days in 2010 and became an analyst for ESPN. He has no coaching experience at any level. Aaron’s dad, Bob, was a major league manager for the Kansas City Royals and Cincinnati Reds.

The Yankees also interviewed Carlos Beltran, Hensley Meulens, Rob Thomson, Eric Wedge and former big leaguer Chris Woodward for the managerial position.
