Mets Hire Gary DiSarcina To Fill Bench Coach Position

According to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe, the New York Mets will hire Gary DiSarcina to be their bench coach for the 2018 season.

DiSarcina, 49, was bench coach for the Boston Red Sox in 2017, and was previously the third base coach and first base coach for the Los Angeles Angels from 2014 to 2016.

The New England native has had some managing experience in the minors, skippering at multiple lower levels for Boston from 2007 to 2009, and managing their Triple-A affiliate in 2013. His managerial record over four minor league seasons is 205-162.

With the hiring of DiSarcina, the Mets now have a full coaching staff for new manager Mickey Callaway.

Dave Eiland will be the pitching coach, Pat Roessler the hitting coach, Ruben Amaro, Jr the first base coach, Ricky Bones the bullpen coach and Glenn Sherlock will be back as the third base coach.
