The Astros took a 1-0 lead on Thursday when Jose Altuve and Justin Verlander led them to a 8-2 win. Altuve launched three home runs becoming only the ninth player to do so in a playoff game and the first since Pablo Sandoval in 2012. Chris Sale struggled in his first postseason start allowing seven runs (three homers) in only five innings.
Former Met Jay Bruce led the Indians to a 4-0 Game 1 win over the Yankees with three RBI, double and a home run. Trevor Bauer dominated on the mound striking out eight and allowing only three baserunners in 6.2 innings. The Indians now have a great chance to move to 2-0 in the series with probable Cy Young winner Corey Kluber on the mound tonight.
