Rapid Reaction: Cecchini, Mets Beat Braves 7-3

The New York Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves 7-3 on Saturday night at SunTrust Park.

Pitching

Jacob deGrom picked up his 15th win of the season on Saturday night. The righty lasted seven innings and allowed one run on five hits and struck out seven. The only run deGrom allowed came on a Freddie Freeman solo shot in the sixth.

Jeurys Familia worked around a leadoff single in a scoreless eighth inning.

AJ Ramos allowed a two run single to Lane Adams in the ninth, but was able to close out the 7-3 Mets win.

Offense:

The Mets rallied for five runs in the second, third and fourth innings off R.A. Dickey.

Juan Lagares drove in Dominic Smith with an RBI single in the second. Gavin Cecchini followed that up with a run-scoring single of his own, bringing home Travis d’Arnuad.

In the third, the Mets jumped on Dickey again. Brandon Nimmo doubled home Nori Aoki, then Asdrubal Cabrera drove Nimmo home with a double of his own to make it 4-0.

In the fourth, Cecchini drove in his second run of the game with an RBI double to center. Cecchini had three hits in four at-bats, and drove in the two runs.

Dominic Smith stayed hot in the seventh, driving home Aoki and Nimmo with a two run double. Smith went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI’s on the night.

On deck:

The Mets look to take the rubber game of the three game set as they send Robert Gsellman to the mound. Gsellman will face off with Julio Teheran, as first pitch is scheduled for 1:35 p.m. at SunTrust Park.
