According to a report by James Wagner of the New York Times, infielder Wilmer Flores has been discharged from the hospital and is now at the team’s complex in Port St. Lucie where he appears to be making progress.
Flores, 25, was placed on the 10 day disabled list this past Friday, with an infection in his knee that required hospitalization so that they could administer IV antibiotics and medication to combat the condition.
There is still no timetable for his recovery, but the good news is that Flores is out of the hospital and is apparently making progress as he looks to regain his strength.
Flores was batting .171./.194/.343 with two home runs in 12 games before he landed on the DL, but was still hitting .385/.429/.846 against left-handed pitching in 14 plate appearances. He has become one of the team’s top weapons vs LHP.
