The Mets will try and avoid getting swept when they take on the Los Angeles Dodgers at 4:10 PM on Sunday at Dodger Stadium. Bartolo Colon (11-10, 3.85 ERA) returns from the bereavement list and will oppose right-hander Kevin Correia (7-13, 4.87 ERA) for the Dodgers.

Colon returns to make what could be his final start as a Met after being placed placed on revocable waivers by the team. If he is claimed, the Mets can pull him back, work out a trade with the claiming team within 48 hours, or dump his contract on the claiming team without getting any players in return. Colon has $12.8 million remaining on his contract, including $11 million for the 2015 season.

Juan Lagares leads all major leaguers with a 3.3 defensive WAR this season. His range factor is 2.73 which leads all NL outfielders, and his 29 defensive runs saved ranks second among all major leaguers.

Eric Young, Jr. swiped his 28th base last night and ranks fourth in the National League in stolen bases. Young has been successful on nine of his last 11 attempts. He had 38 stolen bases with the Mets last season.

Starting Lineup

  1. Curtis Granderson – RF
  2. Daniel Murphy – 2B
  3. David Wright – 3B
  4. Lucas Duda – 1B
  5. Travis d’Arnaud – C
  6. Juan Lagares – CF
  7. Ruben Tejada – SS
  8. Eric Young, Jr. – LF
  9. Bartolo Colon – RHP

The Mets had another rough day at the office yesterday as deGrom had his first rough game in a while. On the positive side, the Mets were able to show some strength with a Lagares homer and a Duda jack, #24 on the season. Today Bartolo Colon comes to the mound as he squares off against Kevin Correia.

Colon is 11-10 over 24 games with a 3.85 ERA and 161.1 innings. In his last two starts he is a combined 15.0 innings, 2 ER with 14 K’s. He missed the Dodgers earlier this year and in his career he has made 5 starts against them with a 1-4 record and a 6.61 ERA. The Dodgers have the following numbers against Colon:

  • Crawford 6-36, 2 2B
  • Gonzalez 6-18, 2 HR
  • Ethier 3-4, 2B
  • Kemp 2-4
  • Barney 0-3
  • Turner 0-3

Kevin Correia was traded in August for a PTNBL (or cash). On the season he has made 25 starts with 140.1 innings with a 4.87 ERA and a 7-13 record. Since joining the Dodgers he is 2-0 in the same amount of starts with 11.0 innings, 5 ER. In his career he is 2-5 over 13 games and 7 starts against the Mets with a 4.01 ERA. The Mets have the following numbers against Kevin:

  • Wright 13-17, 3 2B, 3 HR
  • Murphy 6-15
  • Tejada 2-8

Lets Go Mets!
