The first-place Atlanta Braves arrive at Citi Field for a four-game series against the Mets. Daisuke Matsuzaka (3-3, 3.72) opposes left-hander Mike Minor (2-5, 4.73) in Monday’s 7:10 PM opener.

Dice-K received his third straight loss in the Mets’ 5-4 defeat to the Braves on July 1 at Turner Field. He has allowed 18 hits and 11 earned runs over 16.1 innings in his last three starts for an ERA of
6.06.

Lucas Duda has five home runs and 12 RBI since June 17, a span of 15 games. The five home runs over that stretch are the third-most in the NL. Duda’s 13 home runs are tied for the fifth-most by a NL first baseman.

Wilmer Flores has been named the Pacific Coast League Player of The Week after tallying six home runs, 13 hits and 16 RBI’s during that span. The 22-year old has played an assortment of infield positions since returning to the minors, splitting time between second, third and shortstop.

Dario Alvarez was named the South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week. In two starts, Alvarez allowed just five hits and no earned runs over 10.1 total innings for Savannah. He struck out 16 batters (8 in each outing), walked two, and has a 0.87 ERA this year with Single-A Savannah.

Noah Syndergaard allowed just one run on six hits while striking out eight and walking none in seven innings pitched on Sunday as Las Vegas routed Albuquerque, 12-1.Cesar Puello, who has been sidelined with concussion symptoms. homered twice in his first game since June 23.

Travis d’Arnaud has reached base safely in all 10 games since returning from Las Vegas (AAA), including a hit in nine of those 10 games. He’s batting .297 (11-37) with two home runs and seven RBI and a .350 on-base percentage during that stretch. D’Arnaud is tied for third among NL rookies with his five home runs.

The Mets and Braves start a four game series tonight after the Mets took the series from the Rangers. Yesterday was the opposite of Saturday for the Mets. This time it was the Mets who took the lead early and then had to fight off Rangers encroachment. Daisuke gets the start, he is  3-3 on the year over 24 games and 58.0 innings with a 3.72 ERA. The last two games have been rough for Daisuke as he has allowed 5 ER over 6 and then 5 ER over 5. He has pitched 9.0 innings against the Braves this year, allowing 6 ER. The Braves have the following numbers against Matsuzaka:

  • Freeman 3-7, 2 2B, HR

  • Simmons 3-7

Mike Minor pitches against the Mets again. He is 2-5 over 12 starts this season pitching 70.1 innings with a 4.73 ERA. In his last two starts he has pitched 10.1 innings allowing 9 ER, including a 4.1 inning outing against the Mets where he allowed 4 ER. The Mets have the following numbers against Minor:
