The Mets will need a win against the pitcher with the top ERA in the majors to prevent their dive from reaching five Saturday.

Bartolo Colon (5-5, 4.52 ERA) opposes San Francisco Giants right-hander Tim Hudson (6-2, 1.75) at 10:05 PM at AT&T Park.

Colonis fourth among active Major Leaguers with 194 career wins while tonight’s Giants starter Tim Hudson is first with 211 victories.

Ruben Tejada has hit in six straight games, going 10-24 and batting .417 with five RBIs. Over his last 10 games, Tejada is hitting .424 (14-33) with five runs scored, two home runs and six RBI.

Curtis Granderson has reached base safely in 19 straight games, the second-longest current streak in the majors, behind Milwaukee’s Carlos Gomez (22). He is hitting .273 (33-121) with five home runs and 20 RBI since May 1 (34 games).

The Mets try to stop the slide tonight against the Giants tonight with Colon on the mound. Last night, the Giants took the lead in the 8th and won the game 4-2, and it ended up being the 15th loss on the pen. To be fair, the pen has been better than that for the most part, and it reflects that the offense is giving the pitching staff a very narrow range to work with. Anyway, like said earlier, Colon gets the start tonight vs and old foe Tim Hudson.

Colon is 5-5 over 11 starts and 71.2 innings with a 4.52 ERA. In his last three starts he is 3-0 over 22.1 innings with a 1.61 ERA and 5 BB, 19 K’s. In his career, he has made three starts against the Giants allowing 11 ER over 19 innings. The Giants have the following numbers against Hudson:

  • Abreu 5-25, 2B, 2 HR
  • Granderson 4-13, 2 HR
  • Murphy 0-3
  • Wright 1-3

Hudson is 6-2 this season with a league leading 1.75 ERA over 77.1 innings over 11 starts. In his last five starts he has pitched 31.2 innings with a 1.14 ERA. Last year he made three starts against the Mets allowing 6 ER over 22.0 innings with a 2.45 ERA. The Mets have the following numbers against Tim:

  • Wright 18-77, 88 PA, 2 2B, 3 HR, 7 BB
  • Duda 9-26, 2B, HR
  • Murphy 5-22, 2 2B
  • Tejada 8-21, 2B
  • Abreu 4-12, 2B

Lets Go Mets!
