MMO Game Thread: Phillies vs Mets, 7:10 PM (SNY)

wilmer-flores-2013-bm

The Mets are back at Citi Field for the opener of a three-game series with the Philadelphia Phillies beginning tonight at 7:10 PM.

Jenrry Mejia (3-0, 5.23) starts for the Mets and will oppose right-hander Roberto Hernandez (2-1, 4.50) for the Phillies.

The Mets will play 16 of their next 19 games in the Big Apple and are 8-5 in their last 13 home games after starting the year 0-3.

New York was shut out in consecutive games in Miami, losing 3-0 on May 6 and 1-0 on May 7. The last time the Mets were shut out in consecutive games was July 15-16, 2010 at San Francisco.

The Mets were held scoreless over the last 23.0 innings of the Marlins series, the longest scoreless streak for the team since July 15-17, 2010 when they went 24.0 innings without a run.

Wilmer Flores will start at shortstop tonight, while Travis d’Arnaud has been dropped to eighth in the lineup by Terry Collins.

Flores had 11 RBI in his first 11 major league games last year, tied for the highest total through a player’s first 11 games in franchise history with Jose Reyes.

Anthony DiComo reports Lucas Duda is very sick with a stomach bug. and is In the hospital getting IV fluids. Obviously, he is unavailable tonight.

  2. Daniel Murphy – 2B
  3. David Wright – 3B
  4. Curtis Granderson – RF
  5. Chris Young – LF
  6. Josh Satin – 1B
  7. Wilmer Flores – SS
  8. Travis d’Arnaud – C
  9. Jenrry Mejia – RHP

Game Preview

The Mets try to get back in a winning pattern and back to .500 tonight as they welcome the Phillies into Queens. It was a tough three days in Miami that saw the Mets lose two games in a walk-off fashion and one where Alvarez, the Marlins starter, just ripped through the Mets lineup. The Mets do look slightly different today as Omar has been DFA’s and Wilmer Flores has been called up.

Jenrry Mejia looks to put his terrible start in Colorado behind him tonight. On the season he now has a 5.23 ERA over 32.2 innings. It is his last two starts though that are crushing him. On 4/26 he allowed 6 ER over 5.2 innings to the Marlins thanks to one inning where he fell apart. In Denver he allowed 8 ER over 4.1 innings, and it was the same situation. The last time Jenrry faced the Phillies was in 2012 where he allowed three hits and no runs over one inning of relief. The Phillies have the following numbers against him:

  • Byrd 2-3, 2B
  • Howard 1-3, HR
  • Utley 0-2
  • Ruiz 2-2
  • Brown 1-1
  • Mayberry 0-1

The Mets batters will get their first look at Phillies starter Robert Hernandez who is 2-1 this season with a 4.50 ERA over 7 games and 6 starts logging 34.0 innings. Hernandez was signed as a free agent last year and is coming off of his best start of the season where he allowed 4 hits and no runs over 7.1 innings. Before that, he had only one quality start on the season. The Mets have the following numbers against him:

  • Granderson 17-41, 3 2B, 3 3B, 3 HR, .500 OBP, .854 SLG
  • Abreu 5-23
  • Recker 1-2, 2B
  • C Young 0-3

Lets Go Mets!

  • Jgreen

Is anything happened to Duda? Why rest vs. Righty? Is he officially claimed as everyday 1B by terry?

  • CJM

Is Duda sick? Why on earth is Satin starting with a righty on the mound? Makes no sens.

  • HarveyKsYou

TDA has literally become the new Thole.. Only the mets. He has no power and doesn’t draw walks.. Typical he hasn’t panned out at all for us yet.

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

    Look at the splits.

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

    Splits splits splits

  • CJM

Yeah tough break when he hasn’t panned out yet and has had 208 plate appearances. WTF is up with this guy?

  • CJM

Yeah that’s why it makes no sense.

  • tacknaf

Terryball. It’s kinda like Calvinball – no consistency – no rules – whatever the voices in the old man’s head tell him to do

  • Chris H

They did get Satin some ab’s to see if he can break out if not he’s gone

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments
  • CJM

NVM. Was looking for Hernandez v. Satin/Hernandez v. Duda splits and it appears neither has ever faced him.

  • ed charles

    Oh dear god, not Satin.

  • Schnitzer’s Marble Rye

Let tonight be the beginning of a new era for Mets’ shortstops. Best of luck Mr. Flores. Please play solid d, and become a .700-800 OPS hitter. LGM.

  • CJM

    Or sh*tty D and a .950 OPS.

  • Chris H

And what Keith said about Satins swing there are a lot of moving parts that’s why he sucks as a pinch hitter lol

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

Righties hitting .295 against Hernandez vs. .174 for lefties.

But yeah, no reason for it.

  • LordoftheMets

    Best lineup all year.

  • NewYorkMammoths
  • 3doza33

If satin plays poorly tonight he might get DA’d! Thank god! We have better guys down in Vegas!

  • Schnitzer’s Marble Rye

Fair point, kind of. I don’t want sh*tty d lol…..but below average/subpar d and a .950 OPS, sign me up! Perhaps somewhat hopeful, but more realistically, I’m really hoping for average d and a .750-850 OPS hitter.

  • $14435385

Guess the unequivocal 1B isn’t so unequivocal.

  • Not4

Ha! Done – just hope not too sh*tty

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

208!? He should have 50 home runs by now.

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

    Van Damme’s splits?

  • mr1313

Let’s go Flores show them why you need to stay at SS. Earn the playing time so TC can’t take you out of the lineup.

  • Rocky Thompson

Except for Murphy, Mets going with youth up the middle: Lagares (CF), Flores (SS), d’Arnaud (C) and Mejia (P).

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

    Gotta get Satin going!!!

  • tacknaf

that’s funny… the other lefties don’t get subbed out for someone who stinks… just your “everyday” 1B.

Also – every other year it’s the exact opposite… this couldn’t possibly be a small sample size based on one month of baseball hm?

  • Tommy Med

Why is satin playing against a righty? Enough of the platoon he’s a bench player

  • Nmartz

Wilmer will homer tonight. Yall see.

  • Scottydoeskno328

    lol THIS^^

  • Rocky Thompson

    Why Satin starting:
    Robert Hernandez vs. LHH: .174
    Robert Hernandez vs RHH: .295

  • Taskmaster4450

In Terry Collins’ world, nothing is.

  • Taskmaster4450

Not sure what you are basing that upon.

I see no evidence that is what the organization is thinking.

  • Taskmaster4450

    And 60 doubles.

  • $14435385

    That’s a scary, dim world.

  • Frank Francisco

Either Flores or d’Arnaud really need to step up and take advantage of their opportunities.

  • WilponsNeed2Go

Did we leave Duda in Miami or something? Why is Satin in the game? Maybe Terry in his utter senility thought Hernandez is a LHP.

Terry and these lineups is a story of one step forward and two steps back.

I know…I know. “We Gotta Get Satin Going!” Hopefully we can get him going on a bus back to LV, and get Campbell going to NY!

  • Frank Francisco

    Ummmm… Satin…?

  • WilponsNeed2Go

Terry thinks Henandez is a LHP.

  • mattbalasis

    OMG I cant wait!
THANK YOU BASEBALL GODS FOR IMBUING OUR PECULIAR LITTLE MANAGER WITH ENOUGH LOGIC TO MAKE THE RIGHT CALL!
Wilmer is going to change this team … book it.

  • $14435385

How dare you use statistics. Everyone knows that every off-handed match-up is better than every same-handed match-up…why do you think Terry uses 4 pitchers an inning?

  • Tom

Gonna be at the game tonight, excited to see this experiment.

  • CJM

I don’t think Flores would be called up unless they intended on giving hm a chance to prove himself as an every day starter.

  • Schnitzer’s Marble Rye

I get that Roberto Hernandez has better splits in 2014 vs. LHH than RHH…BUT he’s only faced 57 LHH in 2014. Small sample size. In his career, a much LARGER sample size, he’s faced LHH’s 2654 times, and they OPS .809 all time vs him…Idk, after a bad road trip, including losing the last 3..this team needs a win…I’d rather have Duda in there.

  • HarveyKsYou

Move on if you don’t like it. I don’t see you saying things like this to others

  • CJM

You don’t see me making sarcastic comments to others?

  • Ry110891

Where did Lucas Duda get traded to ?

  • Helloboy

Shaking things up with Satin a bit, at least he is more of a 6th hitter than Duda is. Flores hitting 7th. We will see if the 6 & 7 holes make an impact tonight.

  • mattbalasis

Yeah well, with TC you just never know.

  • Joanie Yan

I was thinking the same thing – except Thole was better defensively. d’Arnauds prorated stats for the year would be 10 homeruns (not bad) and 35 RBIs (terrible)

  • Helloboy

He also thinks Satin is a major leaguer.

  • goorru

That it goes against Hernandez’s career stats even last year Lefties hit .50 points higher. It’s most likely just a fluke and will even out at the end of the year.

  • Helloboy

Beware, his eyebrows are watching you.

  • Joanie Yan

You know it’s bad when people are clamoring for Duda. Did you guys forget he cannot hit lefties?

  • Collins didn’t want to rush him back after having a day off.

  • goorru

Spot on, even last year Lefties hit .50 points higher, Satin starting with Duda as your “starting first baseman” is silly.

  • Andrew Herbst

I’m glad Flores is finally getting a shot at ss.

  • Helloboy

Something tells me that Satin is gone if he does not do anything tonight. Both Lutz and Campbell are ready to take his place.

  • Frank Francisco

No one forgot that. The Phils SP is righty.

  • MyasDaddy

Yeah. Going back on the plane to Vegas. He is terrible.

  • I really, really hope that we look back at this and remember it as the day that the Tejada era ended. While it is one less thing for many of us to complain about, we still have plenty left.

  • WilponsNeed2Go

Satin cant hit either LHP or RHP right now.

  • Helloboy

Hold your ground, hold your ground. Sons of Gondor, of Rohan, my brothers. I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of wolves and shattered shields, when the age of men comes crashing down, but it is not this day. This day we fight! For all that you hold dear on this good Earth, I bid you stand, Men of the West!

  • MyasDaddy

I’m glad my starting 1B is on the bench tonight against Fausto…err, I mean Roberto Hernandez. Hey Terry do me a favor, just go away!

  • Joanie Yan

Sorry – a righty that lefties have trouble hitting against. But now the word is Duda is in the hospital with a stomach bug getting an IV

  • goorru

    2013
    Roberto Hernandez RHH .253
    Roberto Hernandez LHH .305

    Career
    RHH .247
    LHH .292

  • Joanie Yan

    I agree – I’d give Campbell a shot.

  • Frank Francisco

    Small sample size…
    Hernandez vs LHH (career): .292/.362/.447
    Hernandez vs RHH (career): .247/.319/.376

  • WilponsNeed2Go

    Here’s some more stats:

    Satin vs. LHP .188
    Satin vs RHP .000

    Duda vs LHP .188
    Duda vs RHP .282

  • Frank Francisco

Lefties have OPS’s .806 on Hernandez in his career, but I guess a stomach bug would explain it.

  • Agee’s Catch

WTF? Why is Satin getting the start against RHP? And why is he hitting in front of Flo?

  • Joanie Yan

Duda is sick with a stomach bug; in the hospital getting an IV

  • MyasDaddy

Apparently the Dude has a stomach bug.

  • goorru

You have to admit his power outage is very concerning. TDA was Mr. Oppo Taco, has he even hit one home run to the opposite field.

  • Agee’s Catch

Wimp! suck it up and get in there!

  • Agee’s Catch

    Juan Centeno….

  • IndianaMet

    You misspelled “dumb”.

  • BronxMets

yes what you have to complain about now is FLores fielding which is MUCH worse then Tejadas right now.

  • $14435385

So unequivocal, not indestructible. Got it – thanks for the update.

  • CJM

I will be concerned when he has 600,700, 800 PAs and still producing like the left fielder on a little league team.

  • Agee’s Catch

Answers the first question. not the second

  • Taskmaster4450

Rub some dirt on it and get back in there Lucas.

  • Helloboy

yes, it is on the twitter feed.

  • WilponsNeed2Go

In the hospital with a stomach bug and an IV huh?
Sounds like an emergency hangover cure to me. I guess Duda couldnt role with the NY met party bus.

  • Charley’s Twin

He’ll always be Fausto Carmona to me.

  • MyasDaddy

Because TERRIBLE Terry Collins is running this team.

  • George_Theodore

    That’s a much cooler name!

  • Agee’s Catch

Sounds like a Billy Joel song…

  • Taskmaster4450

I guess he learned from Ike.

We will see another Rubin article soon how Duda is such a party guy.

  • Helloboy

Duda is in the hospital getting IV from a bad stomach virus.

  • tacknaf

ssshh you’ll upset the Terry apologists on here. they’d rather look at a month’s worth of stats instead of a whole career’s worth that tell the opposite. and they’d also like to conveniently ignore the fact that Satin sucks

  • WilponsNeed2Go

Well there is a Ranger game tonight….just saying.

  • tacknaf

yep don’t tell that to the Terry apologists on here tho.

  • Agee’s Catch

Needs some hair of the dog

  • Taskmaster4450

    NYU Medical.

  • Taskmaster4450

I dont think he had much of a choice in the matter.

  • Rocky Thompson

If Carlton K. were the teams manager, Duda would be on the field or he would not be in the team!

  • Agee’s Catch

    SMH. I should have known…

  • Joey D.

It’s kind of uncanny with CY. His performance is reverse his usually trait. He’s hitting only .200 against left handed pitching, which was supposed to be his better attribute. Against right handers, which he has had a career filled with trouble, he is hitting what for him – and for 2014 considering the league overall – a respectable .255.
As Joe Garagolia said, “Baseball Is A Funny Game”. It also shows that one has to go with what they see and at this point, play CY against right handers!

  • MyasDaddy

That is why you sir are in my starting lineup.

  • Taskmaster4450

    Actually both do.

  • Helloboy

or just say that Duda is in the hospital right now per the twitter feed with a bad stomach bug.

  • Agee’s Catch

Joey, the season is still new. Trends have a way of working themselves out.

  • Joey D.

    Tom,
Look out for Ryan – he’s in section 123, named after my old junior high school LOL.

Enjoy and you too get home safely.

  • Helloboy

Thank you! Someone else that knows that Plawecki is not the only good prospect at the position, and Centano is further along.

  • Taskmaster4450

Will Harvey be at Citi or the Garden is the bigger question?

  • Agee’s Catch

    Garden.

  • MetsFanSantaMonica

Duda is in the hospital getting intravenous fluids for a stomach illness, Terry Collins told reporters.

  • Taskmaster4450

LOL He wants to rehab in NYC to support his team except….

when the Rangers are in the playoffs and face elimination.

  • Helloboy

    You actually foretold the future.

  • Joey D.

    HI Agee,
Actually, I was trying to be nice to CY at this point in the season, giving credit where credit is due. I doubt it will continue but that’s for CY to determine, not me.

  • MyasDaddy

I mean let’s hit a guy 6th in our lineup who has is hitting .188 for the year. He should be hitting 8th…or better yet he should be on the next flight to Vegas.

  • Helloboy

He is sick with a stomach bug and at the hospital getting IV.

  • WilponsNeed2Go

There is no question…..he’ll be at MSG. And its sounds like Duda will be with him; Lucas Duda ‘s Day Off!

  • Schnitzer’s Marble Rye

    Saw Duda’s sick, disregard ^

  • Manager of The Year

Satin has been terrible he should be batting eighth to put less pressure on him. Then again the same applies with Flores and TDA

  • Agee’s Catch

I thought he had a nice audition last year. If TDA needs a change of scenery, I’d swap him and Centeno.

  • Jgreen

I hate myself saying this but I will not belive Terry’s word without doctor’s note on Duda.

  • Agee’s Catch

    Did he say which team?

  • Taskmaster4450

Collins told him he was hitting cleanup and Duda couldnt handle it and got physically ill.

  • While this is somewhat flawed it helps to make the point, Tejada has 6 RBIs and scored 4 runs while, for LV, Flores has 25 RBIs and 20 runs. That is Vegas, this is NY but is he even gets half that production, he is involved in twice as many runs as Tejada. I don’t believe that his defense will allow 10 or so runs to score that Tejada would have saved, so net gain. If he doesn’t hit, then perhaps he’ll sit. I’m a poet, and I didn’t know it.

  • Frank Francisco

Lol… So much Satin hate based off of 30 AB’s like he didn’t just put up a .780 OPS over 200 last year…

  • Jgreen

    I’ll buy it

  • The stars are veiled. Something stirs in the East. A sleepless malice. The eye of the enemy is moving. He is HERE.

  • MyasDaddy

Yo CJM- are you in AC yet?

  • Taskmaster4450

Small sample size to be sure but it could also be a case of the league caught up to Satin. Hernandez has commented about Satin’s moving parts and how it is hard to get everything timed right.

Besides, we are talking a fringe player…Satin or Campbell, Campball or Satin…

Is there going to be any major difference really?

  • Bartolololol

Duda is sick with a stomach bug

  • mad met

Awesome comment you are the new manager lol that was perfect explanation of bambi the deer in head lights

  • Misspelling aside…

  • Frank Francisco

I’m hoping Flores’ struggles and then success in Vegas means that he rediscovered something he lost when he was in the Majors last season. I really hope he hits the ground running this time.

  • Taskmaster4450

He tried to take part of Colon’s sandwich and Colon punched him in the stomach.

  • Taskmaster4450

If you recall he had it together when he came up only to suffer that severe sprain at 3B.

  • mad met

    260 lbs sissy baby

  • Taskmaster4450

Me. You. Geren. Some guy outside Citi.

I would take anyone over Collins at this point.

  • CJM

Man something came up and I had to postpone. Nothing too important, but I need to be in the city tomorrow evening, and decided to save the money and time and plan to go the first weekend of June when I can stay Friday and Saturday nights. Disappointing though. Now I’ll just go get a twelve pack and probably stay home tonight.

  • Mike B

See that pic of Flores? That’s a wristy swing, somewhat like Beltran. That causes streaky hitting, good breaking ball hitting, but difficulty on top notch heat. He will have trouble hitting 95+ mph fastballs.

  • WilponsNeed2Go

Careful, you don’t want to get banned from the Mets Clubhouse !?!

  • Captain America

Some scouts would disagree and say his struggles were his ability to recognize and hit certain types of pitches – injury or not…

  • goorru

    When you’re starting at first
And your pants begin to burst
    That’s diarrhea, diarrhea

  • mad met

This lineup still sucks .grandy should never bat cleanup

  • WillisReid

Most importantly he hasn’t been striking out much at all.

  • MyasDaddy

Are you freaking kidding me? Can you go next weekend. You can stay with me.

  • Taskmaster4450

    That wont do it….

Now if I made a joke about stealing Wright’s comb….

watch out..might be banned from Citi.

  • derek murphy

Seeing satin in the line up ruined my day. I’ve been waiting for Flores forever and after the last game I said I needed a break from the mets. Wish I ddnt waste money on tix. Find out Flores is getting promoted n I come off the ledge. Now I’m excited to see today’s line up. First I wouldn’t put Grandy at clean up he hits better when he’s not there. Then I see satin. What is the deal with this guy he’s just like Q a bum. Dfa him and call up Campbell, he’s a better hitter and plays more positions. TDA hitting 8th I like hopefully its a wake up call for the kid. He don’t seem to be putting in max effort.

  • mets4lyfe

Remember when Fausto Carmona was good? Yeah, 7 years ago.

  • billpulsipher

why is satin still here? and valverde? and dice k? and farnsworth? is sandy asleep on days off? how has the bullpen not been addressed yet? lol unbelievable

  • WilponsNeed2Go

Hey! The Face of Major League Baseball needs his mirror time.

  • goorru

Satin seemed to do best when he was playing almost everyday, he doesn’t seem to be good at the part time role.

  • Helloboy

    up vote

  • BarnRat

Sounds like Duda’s good for at least 3 runs tonight 😉

  • Pablo Purchese

At the game today really excited to see flores back and Mejias nasty cutter

  • derek murphy

That’s silly talk. Don’t be a hater. Flores has no troubles turning on heat. He’s a hitting machine.

  • goorru

You know all that from looking at a picture? really?

  • CJM

Man I wish I could go soon. Next weekend I am going to my parents’ place to watch their dog who is too old for the kennel. The weekend after I have a 3 on 3 basketball tournament. This was my perfect weekend but a friend needs a place to crash tomorrow and I felt obligated, because it’s a friend who has done me many favors in the past.

  • Helloboy

It looks like he just hit the ball and froze after seeing Superman flying overhead.

  • goorru

Mejia had 2 bad innings, one was against the hottest hitting team on the planet. I think he’ll be fine.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    Just wanted to say

    THANK YOU OMAR

    http://media.silive.com/mets/photo/9483049-large.jpg

  • MyasDaddy

Oh no. I guess you have to do it. Just sucks whenever you have to pass up AC. Especially Borgata.

  • MetsfanInParadise

Between the sweep and the Flores news, one thing apparently has been overlooked. I haven’t seen anyone mention the fact that the rotation is on another nice little roll, starting with Gee in Colorado but also seeing us allow the previously hot-hitting Marlins only 7 runs in 3 games, when they’d been averaging almost 7 rpg at home before that.

  • Charley’s Twin

Omar looks like he just ripped a huge fart in that picture.

  • CJM

Yeah but I plan at least 1 trip to AC for the summer and right now my friends and I have tentative plans for a Vegas trip sometime next fall.

  • mets4lyfe

And at Coors field. Not making excuses for Mejia, but a bad outing against the Rockies at Coors Field while they’re red hot isn’t the worst thing in the world.

  • WilponsNeed2Go

I know where Harvey will be tonight…..LGR!

  • 94SupraTT

LOL wow…you should apply for the hitting coach job…

  • MikePiazza3186

You act like he brought us a World Series lol he was ok for as much good he did it was out weighed by the bad lol hahah Castillo Ollie bay krod justu awful

  • MetsfanInParadise

.780 is nothing special at 1B

  • CJM

    He’ll be in St. Lucie.

  • MikePiazza3186

Lol I’m a huge pens fan and there is no doubt in my mind we bury those overhyped loser rangers tonight easy!!!!

  • MyasDaddy

Yeah I’m thinking Vegas may be an August trip for me. My daughter goes with my ex mother in law to FL for a week. I think if I have a good AC trip, hopefully it will pay for a Vegas trip.

  • WillisReid

Thanks for the 92 loss season, with the $140mm payroll that netted you a top ten pick Omar Minada.

  • WilponsNeed2Go

    Are you from Pittsburgh?

  • CJM

I’ve actually never been to Vegas. In college I didn’t have the money and since, I just haven’t had the opportunity. So I’m looking forward to popping that cherry in 2014.

  • WillisReid

That he somehow found the will power not to use on a college relief pitcher.

  • MyasDaddy

Vegas is adult Disney World. I don’t know how else to explain it. But, I wouldn’t really know. Since I was there for 120 hours and I spent 110 playing poker.

  • MikePiazza3186

Nope born and raised New York the penguins are my only out of state favorite team I just fell In love as a kid watching super Mario jägr barasso

  • MikePiazza3186

    Yahtzee!!!!

  • CJM

Yeah from friends I’ve been told sleep is not really high on the to-do list in Vegas. But that’s what the cross country flight is for.

  • WilponsNeed2Go

So I guess Messier guaranteeing victory and delivering, with the first Stanley Cup the City has seen in 54 years wasn’t inspiring at all huh?

  • WillisReid

The bankrupt Jersey rejects have 3 Cups since then.

  • Fast Eddie

Tejada has had his chance to show us what he can do and it’s not enough. Next! Okay, Wilmer, take your best shot. You get ten days to show that you can hit better than Ruben while not allowing too many ground balls to trickle under your glove. Good luck, son.

I’ll bet Josh Satin is as nervous as the famous Don Knotts character. With both Lutz and Campbell hitting well in Vegas, Satin is running out of time to make a good impression. He certainly doesn’t resemble his 2013 self. The times may indeed be a-changin’ in Flushing.

    Veloz

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    lol you seem very upset

  • WilponsNeed2Go

I hope they savor those, thanks to Kovalchuk they’ll be the lasts they see for awhile.

  • derek murphy

He was a middle IF he’s a very light hitter. We have better options in the system it’s not a matter of hating him. Last season I wanted him to get promoted. He offers very little.

  • goorru

Almost everybody hits well in Las Vegas, Teagarden looks like Mike Piazza so far this year.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    THANKS SANDY

I love how you used Wilmer Flores as a diversion to this below:
(our terrible record since you became GM)

P.S. Im not mad at the promotion, because it was overdue just the timing

  • WillisReid

Not really, just think it’s funny that anyone could appreciate the circumstances by which Harvey became a Met. Omar was a joke, openly mocked by other GM’s.

  • MyasDaddy

Exactly. I popped a xanex and I was snoring before we took off.

  • WillisReid

Nah, they have strong player development, and got his albatross contract of the books. They’ll be better without him going forward than with him.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Lmao….Beltran tore FB’s up he didnt miss many at all.

Wilmer has excellent bat speed and has never been streaky neither has beltran who by the way does not have a wristy swing.

Lol…Armchair hitting coaches you remind me of Sandy Alderson

  • derek murphy

After seeing grandad numbers vs this guy clean up a good call.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

He rarely plays how can you judge a guy based on that. The most you can say is he isnt a good Pinch hitter but even that is flawed since he hasnt received much of a chance to do that either

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

He was a Omar acquisition thats why? 😉

Look at the rope Omar Quintanilla got. Or Mike Baxter. Or…….lol

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Have you seen Grandads stats at Citi Field???

    Kind of negates that

  • MyasDaddy

Hey that’s my squad! I wish Lou ran all of my sports teams!

  • Waz0787

Mejia will fail. Bring up Dykstra and Lutz. Put them in 1st and 3rd. Our offense need more injections

  • Xavier 22

Shhh dude! You’re harshing on his nostalgia trip!

  • I loved Omar,
Liked Satin’s drafting, but thought he was an organizational filler. I still stand by that.

  • jaypayton

Battle for last place begins tonight. Should be a rockin crowd of 8,000. Remember when Omars Mets had 35,000 in Shea every night

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    3rd???

  • WillisReid

The only thing Lou did that I didn’t like was keeping Kovalchuk at the expense of Parise.

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

Ok stop just stop I am sick of people like you trying to put a damper on everything. The Mets were just 15-11 do you forget so quickly? If we turn this around tonight we could be in the battle for 1st as we are only 3 games back.

  • jaypayton

That means a lol.how many did they win in Florida? Oh yeah. 0

  • MyasDaddy

Yeah that really hurt. I got to meet Lou at a preseason game up here in Albany a few years ago. What a great guy. I seriously though wish he could run the Mets. The guy is brilliant.

  • jaypayton

Wake up to reality dude. The last week is indicative of what type of team this is. Drink the sandy kool aid elsewhere.

  • jaypayton

    Dice K to the rescue

  • WillisReid

Are you from Albany? I grew up there. River Rat games were how I became a Devils fan. But RPI and Union are the big draw there.

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    10$ they win tonight

  • MyasDaddy

You better believe it. That’s how a became a devils fan myself. I went to games all the time as a kid. Elias, Sykora…Saw the Calder Cup in 94 and watched them win the Stanley Cup in 95. What an awesome time!

  • WillisReid

David Wright is not sitting. He’s hitting the ball hard. Stop smoking crack or trolling, or whatever it is that makes you post such nonsense.

  • Taskmaster4450

Why because they encountered two of the hottest team at home right now?

Did you see what Colorado did to Texas in taking three out of four from them? They destroyed them.

  • Hitmanᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ ✔

Flores is 7th? After Satin? What a joke.

  • Taskmaster4450

I am still baffled how a manager lets a guy give up 8 earned runs IN AN INNING. That is almost impossible to do.

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

    Duda is in the hospital.

  • Taskmaster4450

The same number the Braves won in Florida.

Is the Braves season shot because they got swept in Miami?

  • WillisReid

35,000 watching Brian Lawrence and Luis Ayala trying to pitch that team to glory.

  • You clearly have too much time on your hands. lol

  • BCleveland3381

Why are you crying tears of blood?

  • Taskmaster4450

Just be grateful that Collins did apply his logic.

Remove Tejada from SS batting 8th instill Flores at SS…so I will bat him 8th.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Omar is such a joke Alderson tried to rehire him…so what does that make Alderson???

But I wonder how could anyone appreciate the circumstances for our continued poor play and 4 straight losing seasons and still support Alderson.

  • BarnRat

Good to see you liked your comment. Have to start somewhere.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    lol…Today I do

    No work and rain

  • WillisReid

They needed someone to replace the urinal cakes in the bathrooms at Citi.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    Steroid injections?

    You might be right

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

and youre full of it, Wright has looked terrible. Youre smoking crack if you think he is hitting the ball hard

  • Wouldn’t a three homer game by Grandy be just perfect tonight?

  • MikePiazza3186

well i was a pens fan before that so no!!! just dont cry tonight when the king gets his crown knocked off haha rangers suck!!!

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

I thought that was JP Ricciardis job? Did he get promoted to peeling gum from under the seats?

  • Anthony

I can’t believe my eyes. Flores starting at ss

  • KMO82

Three run homer from anyone would be nice lol.

  • By the way: Cecchini #4 on BA Hot list, Flores in the team photo (Should have been on the hotlist too), via Metsminors.net

    http://metsminors.net/cecchini-4-on-baseball-americas-hot-list-flores-in-team-photo/

  • Anthony

    I’d take 3 hits

  • MLBGM Fire TC

I remember when Wright came up they said he could hit, but his glove wasn’t too good, I remember when they said murphy could never play 2b…so we put him in the of, lol. Wright become a pretty damn good fielder and murphy (because of his bat) is tolerable at 2b. Both of these guys are 290 ish hitters in the infield. IF flores can keep his pace with what he did in the minors, figure 280-300 average 20-25 hr at ss, and can be just tolerable I think it would be a big step in making this team better.

  • KMO82

Looking forward to tonights game. Mejia on the hill, Flores at SS! Crazy…but mostly I am hoping the Mets can change my mood as I caught Monday’s game right after they took the 3-0 lead. So, since then I had to watch them not score for 23 straight innings and watch two Marlins walk-offs. All while have to watch the Marlins broadcast. It’s a miracle I am still here really lol.

  • MLBGM Fire TC

id love to see Flores go 3 for 4. and turn 2 nice double plays. 🙂

  • MLBGM Fire TC

you think 8000 people will show up tonight, pretty nasty out there.

  • metsfan79

I wonder how many they had made. My bet less then 10k

  • MLBGM Fire TC

Did you see what Colorados line up

  • WillisReid

He has hit in 6 straight games, with 3 of those being multi hit games and more than a few of those hits have been doubles. He’s close, a hell of a lot closer than Lutz contributing anything of value to the Mets right now.

  • KMO82

    Any word on his knee?

  • metsfan79

Whoa he hit the the ball to the warning track twice in colorado. Hes raking right now

  • MyasDaddy

That is my cover photo on my facebook page.

  • MLBGM Fire TC

yea hes due to get back on track. id expect the same numbers he usually puts up, 290-300 ave, 20-25 hr, 15 sb

  • I forgot that picture. I loved it when it was first posted.

  • Chuck

Well, Satin hit pretty good LAST year, so TC must figure he needs protection … LOL.

  • MetsFanSantaMonica

yep and the dodgers lost 2 of 3. at some point, you have to credit the marlins right? If we sweep the Phillies (which I actually think we will do), we’re back doing the happy dance. On the other hand, if we lose 2 of 3, even I may start to feel pessimistic.

  • WillisReid

Really? You and I must be the only two Met fans that don’t think he’ll finish 2014 with 1 HR.

  • not that i’ve seen.

  • Just_Da_damaja

    🙂

    the movement is starting @metsmerizedonline:disqus

  • Chuck

I expect him to come in somewhere in his normal (pretty good) range by the end of the year. LGM!

  • NewYorkMammoths

We should do OK tonight — we only have to face ONE Marlon.

  • MetsfanInParadise

Naah, I think the Wright-bashing is over-the-top too. He’s had at least an .850 OPS 3 of the last 4 years, and in the other he had a fractured back. It’s irrational not to have at least as much confidence in the captain as in anyone.

  • Chuck

Because he wants SA to tell him to put Dice-K in as a starter? Sabotage? *sigh* I hope not …

  • MLBGM Fire TC

    tc is awful

  • BigAl831

I hope Flores absolutely shuts me up and leaves me without any doubt that he can play the position on a regular basis. I also hope he rakes.

    LGM

  • Dave_in_Spain

Duda´s in the hospital with an IV.

  • Dave_in_Spain

Duda´s in the hospital with an IV. Stomach bug and dehydration.

  • Chuck

And lots of scouts get it wrong … let the results this year speak for themselves. And yes, I am hoping for good results, in fact, I’m even expecting good results … go Flores, LGM!

  • Nice!

  • Duda is out with a stomach flu.

  • Chris H

Prediction tonight Wilmer 2 for 4 with 2 ribeye steaks

  • PessiMets

    Hopefully

  • TPT

now that we replaced Tejada i think its time to replace our .158 batting avg 1st baseman theres got to be someone who can do better than that

  • MetsfanInParadise

And Grandy murders this guy. *Mets luck* until tonight

  • TPT

HEY WAIT are you asking us to sign a IM A TRUE MMO FAN petition?

  • muskytoes

Really out. Hospitalized and receiving IV fluids. Get well, big guy.

  • mattbalasis

Exactly, i bet there was a phone conference involved.

  • metsman

    Let’s go Mets…by “go” I mean win.

  • are you going to make me sign your letter? Because I want to read it before you send it out to fans.

  • MyasDaddy

I have said this before and I will say it again. It is becoming increasingly hard to root for this team. Between the front office being cheap, to that old jackass managing this team. However, seeing Flores in the lineup is giving me some hope. Maybe with Thor, deGrom, and Montero on the way, maybe it will get better. For once, I would like to see the team think with their hearts, instead of with their wallets. LGM!

  • Chris H

If Satin struggles tonight I’m hoping we send him down also

  • MetsfanInParadise

You have to give Wilmer credit for learning English well enough to be interviewed in it, something Bart apparently hasn’t done in a career of what, 18 years? I get the impression that he’s a smart kid who is going to be able to adjust and improve, a la Lagares.

  • MetsfanInParadise

No one denies our collective patience has been tried. But I’ve always felt this level of fandom is like love–it’s chemical, illogical, so we’re frustrated when the people who are most responsible for the club’s success don’t appear to share that affinity at the gut level. Unrequited love? It can hurt, bad. One of the most appealing things about Wright is that he does share that-he’s been a fan since childhood. And I think we’re finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Just hope it’s not a freight train.

  • Metfan9876

Nice to see Nimmo 2-3 so far tonight. He’s been struggling a bit lately.

  • TPT

i love this picture lol….. LGM

  • MyasDaddy

You are right. That is exactly what this is…love. And love hurts for sure. I hate feeling this way. When the team plays bad, I am in a rotten mood. It shouldn’t affect me this way, but it does.

  • Captain America

Absolutely I hope wilmers bat can carry his glove…

  • QueensRussell

Spare us, imagine being a Cubs fan or a Lions fan, or a Browns fan. I’ve been a true blue Met fan since 1969. As I teenager, I endured Shea in the late 70s and early 80s. This isn’t so bad.

  • Chris H

If Mejia doesn’t go at least 6 innings tonight make him the closer plzzzzzzzzz

  • metsman

I’ll give Wilmer credit because learning another language is very difficult, but I’m not going fault Colon for not learning american… This is a no dersh zone.

  • Some player just refuse to learn english, or aren’t confident in it. Beltran recently said that he wanted there to be more interpreters employed in the MLB for players not confident with their english.

  • QueensRussell

    Where is Alex 68?

  • billpulsipher

its kinda like the women who gets abused by her husband and refuses to leave because she doesnt want to “give up” on the marriage…

  • jaygreen55

His record is actually better than frank Cashen’s after 4 years (209-344). How did that turn out?

  • billpulsipher

    banned

  • billpulsipher

battle for 4th place tonight….the 2 dreads of the NL East…only dif is the Phillies payroll is 100 million more than sandy’s

  • He was banned by me. Not because of his opinions, but because of his personal insults which I am cracking down on.

  • It’s no detriment to them, it’s respectable, since it’s hard to become bilingual after 12 years old, and they do it, and learn baseball and a new country that is very different as well. Imagine that combination, so it’s scary to even think about the first combination of just Baseball and America.

  • TPT

he must of ate at in n out 😉

  • QueensRussell

Thanks, Joe, but I am sorry to hear it. Nuff said.

  • Could’ve been Shake Shack, which is floridian, and terrifyingly bad for you.

  • MetsfanInParadise

I agree. The story was picked up by Yahoo and I was appalled at the amount of hate in the comments.

  • MetsfanInParadise

Right, which is why Wilmer deserves credit

  • gameball

I think in Venezuela kids learn some English in school, but in DR they’re pretty much on their own, or maybe the schools aren’t as good.

  • TPT

how about TrevorDunn? what ever happened to him?

  • MetsfanInParadise

I came on board in ’73 and endured the same fallow period. Just because someone else, such as Cubs fan, may have it worse doesn’t diminish our pain.

  • MetsfanInParadise

His pregame radio interview impressed me. (It’s the only pregame show MLB carries online) I remember having the same impression last year.

  • Fast Eddie

Basically everything they said on the pregame is this is now Wilmer Flores’ shot to win the SS job. If he can even hit .250, make the basic plays with the glove with the occasional web-gem…this will be his spot for good – we hope. Of course as we all know, Terry Collins has the right to change his mind on a daily basis. For all our sakes I hope Flores tears it up or at least is respectable out there because we know Tejada is not the answer. Good luck Wilmer!!!

  • QueensRussell

Geez, we need a win tonight. My kids, dogs, and wife are counting on it. If the Rangers were to win…champipple

  • He was banned for the same reason.

I don’t care if some of you think Sandy blows or is God’s gift to mankind. Say whatever you want about the team.

But here on out personal insults get you banned with no warning.

I suggest some of you become more tolerant of all opinions, or don’t attack others regardless of how much you disagree.

Debate passionately and engage all you want, but either act like adults and disagree respectfully or go somewhere else.

  • oleosmirf

I think Mejia has a better shot to go 9 shutout innings than the Rangers do of winning tonight.

  • E1Guapo

Regardless of what happens on the field, I want to remind everyone that peerless makes america’s best boilers. I needed the extra money and why not sell out? Seriously, good luck Flores and LGM. I’m all for the youth movement and would like to see some young blood in the bullpen (Degrom, Black) and at 1B (Dykstra?).

  • TPT

i agree on the personal insults your totally right

  • QueensRussell

No argument, really. I feel the pain too. It stinks. My point is just that some sports fans really have it bad. Let’s not forget we’ve been to Series four times in franchise history. Not great, but not horrible either.

  • Bail4Nails

Flores and Lagares are in the Mets Lineup. Mejia’s on the Mound. All is (finally) Right with the World.

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

You banned alex D: he was like my favorite… person i hated

  • QueensRussell

    afraid so…pens have their #

  • El_Verdadero_Presidente

I remember Jose his first year, joking in Spanish that NY was a place where you never have to learn English. But he actually got pretty good. Jenrry has worked very hard. Then there’s guys like Vlad Guerrero – as far as I know, his next word of English will be his first.

All credit to the guys who make the effort to learn.

  • MetsfanInParadise

Duda on the bench, looking dazed. I hope we don’t need him tonight

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

Got to start getting worried about mejia’s pitch count…

  • Terrible weather for the game, hope Mejia pushes through and goes seven.

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    He was out

  • Bail4Nails

Btw, I love that they have Flores sandwiched between Satin and D’Arnaud. Let’s hope Satin gets on base.

  • Metfan9876

Make it a 3-4 night for Nimmo and a 3-3 night for Herrera

  • Waz0787

Mets need to hire Jose Canseco as their hitting coach.

  • Jgreen

    I can live with that

  • bspo1

he got to it, just dropped it. Range looked good.

  • CJM

LOL Flores can’t even make a throw. #TeamTejada

  • Taskmaster4450

    Nerves.

  • Taskmaster4450

    Or strength coach.

  • MetsfanInParadise

Planted his hand in the wet grass.

  • Bail4Nails

But Flores shouldn’t be able to get to that ball? How st[range]!

  • oleosmirf

good both players have cooled off considerably in the last week.

  • MetsfanInParadise

Spray charts are going to allow increasingly better positioning for infielders as time goes by.

  • E1Guapo

The Mets would lead the league in OPS and Backne…

  • bspo1

    working way to slow.

  • HarveyKsYou

Another big crowd for Grandy t-shirt night! Smashing hit, huh?

  • HarveyKsYou

    Mejia has clown hair

  • MetsfanInParadise

I didn’t fault, him I just said he hadn’t done it.

  • AJF

I am laughing seeing all those empty seats Knowing the Wilpons they probably can’t understand why

  • Nice!

  • E1Guapo

Don’t worry they’ll announce a sellout in the 3rd inning

  • Jgreen

Do that again in 5th inning!

  • Manuel1991

    Nasty pitch

  • bspo1

I bet half of the tickets were given away as well.

  • MetsfanInParadise

Thanks for the non-spoiler. MLB online broadcasts are always a pitch or 2 behind.

  • Anthony

A little offense is in order

  • Bail4Nails

    Close-o the Clown?

  • BurnInHellWilpons

the sooner the wilpons no longer walk this earth the better. to hell with those guys

  • BarnRat

It will be a rare collectible by tomorrow — 147 in existence lol

  • CJM

Lagares just isn’t fast enought to lead off. A suitable leadoff hitter beats that ball hit to Utley out.

  • Waz0787

David wright start using PED. You suck. Mets pay u hit HR not singles

  • MetsfanInParadise

Sunny, breezy and 85 in Ft Lauderdale today

  • Anthony

    Let’s hammer this guy

  • MetsfanInParadise

    LGM!

  • Grandy! 1-0 Mets!

  • CJM

Told you guys Granderson was a great signing. Hale Sandy!

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Spoiler

  • HarveyKsYou

ALRIGHT!!! Take that fans who went to boo Granderson today!

  • wow, that hurt…

  • CJM

    Charge the mound!

  • MetsfanInParadise

    He barreled it up

  • Chris H

Wow forgot what it feels like to score a run lol

  • Wish Flores was up instead of Satin…

  • Hitmanᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ ✔

Lol logic? Collins has NO LOGIC!

  • CJM

Shame they don’t have Duda and his 1.000+ OPS with RISP in 2014 up right now.

  • oleosmirf

Just like last year. Flores came up with the bases loaded 4 times in his first 4 games or something like that.

  • Anthony

    He is on the ropes

  • he set two met records for RBIs his first week…

  • CJM

All you folks blaming the offense take note, the Mets have had the lead in 28 of 34 games this year. Sounds like the pitching is to blame for them not being 28-6.

  • Chris H

    Nice job Satin

  • Waz0787

    Satin sucks!!!!!!!!

  • bspo1

these are the situations were this team needs to do damage and they never do.

  • 2rings

    he has to be DFA’d

  • oleosmirf

yea well going 2-4 with the bases loaded in your first series will do that for ya!

  • El_Verdadero_Presidente

Satin is going back where it’s much warmer.

  • CJM

Tomorrow will be a great day to demote Satin.

  • Andrew Herbst

Satin has to at least get a sac fly there.

  • I hate that stat and I hate hearing it every day. And I do mean everyday. It’s the first thing in every pre-game notes email from the Mets.

  • AJF

    Haha keep rubbing it in!

  • BurnInHellWilpons

good. hopefully its to hell bc im done with him

  • HarveyKsYou

    What a joke.

  • Taskmaster4450

Bad AB there. Cant give those opportunities away.

  • CJM

    Tejada could’ve done that…SMH.

  • Waz0787

Thats a GS in yankees stadium

  • CJM

Ha. That’s actually the first time I’ve heard it.

  • billpulsipher

Hernandez is washed up garbage. shocked sandy hasnt signed him to pitch the 8th or 9th innings

  • PessiMets

    Ah the mets

  • 2rings

Satin, as ALWAYS KILLS the inning

  • Frank Francisco

THOSE are the innings that set good teams in front of bad teams. Good teams leave that inning up 3-0 or better. Bad teams leave the inning up 1-0.

  • If Satin was batting 7th instead of Flores, we’d be up 2-0 with a sac fly. Thanks Terry.

  • billpulsipher

you have 2 bad teams playing tho

  • Anthony

This opportunity waisted will haunt us

  • Mets4ever

Can’t wait. Been calling for it for. Long time. Bring up Campbell. He’s been living off last year too long

  • LIMetfan22

Meh. Phillies suck. We will sweep

  • The three batters left on base is sponsored by Verizon.

  • billpulsipher

Hernandez looks old and washed up. he would fit in perfect in the bullpen for the mets. part of sandys retirement village for washed up retreads

  • 2rings

    Joe,
Satin has to go..he needs a ton of at bats with his weird swing. He is not going to get that here..Bring up Soup

  • BurnInHellWilpons

id bring you up right now. anything to get rid of satin.

  • Cold Hard Facts, the Wilpons still suck….

  • BurnInHellWilpons

you know sandy and the wilpons are watching saying ” he looks good ” .. “just got out of a bases loaded jam. impressive”

  • HarveyKsYou

They’re the best owners in the world, according to Matt Cerrone.

  • willywater88

Yikes, that put out was not pretty at all.

  • BurnInHellWilpons

dont even get me going on that idiot cerrone……….

  • AJF

    And true NewYorkers

  • LIMetfan22

    Nice throw.

  • HarveyKsYou

He may throw well but he doesn’t throw anyone out.

  • MetsfanInParadise

    out

  • CJM

Did Terry not even go out to wait for the team to check the video?

  • Andrew Herbst

I thought d’Arnaud got him out.

  • LIMetfan22

That was on a breaking ball and it was a bullseye. He throws great.

  • To each his own, what can I say…

  • Strange that Terry didn’t go out…

  • NewYorkMammoths

    Better call Saul!

  • CJM

And that’s why they say runners steal on the pitcher, not the catcher. That was pretty much a perfect throw. Can’t really find any fault with d’Arnaud on that play.

  • Waz0787

He blocked me. Don’t mention his name

  • ArchieBellandTheDrells

and he has never gotten a hit in the majors before, fits right in

  • MetsfanInParadise

That’s that lack of veteran catching showing in the pitch selection

  • HarveyKsYou

How can you respect him as a blogger when he too lies to his viewers and is a shill.

  • CJM

Ok if Flores cannot handle the wheel, which is in no way complex, then he shouldn’t be playing shortstop in the Majors. Ron’s thought that they should “keep it simple” for Flores for a while is ridiculous.

  • Almost an hour for 7 outs.

  • oleosmirf

    Who should play though?

AAA is doing nothing for him and either is Omar Q or Tejada.

  • CJM

I’m not implying that Flores should not be playing short. I have no problem with him playing short, and think they should let him sink or swim out there. The idea that they should keep it simple for him is ridiculous though.

  • bspo1

has the league figured mejia out?

  • Mets4ever

C’mon let’s get this 3rd out. No runs here

  • Cool another BB fan… Miss that show….

  • MetsfanInParadise

Flores is too deep. Revere could beat it out from there

  • Anthony

Jason tyner how could I forget

  • CJM

Was the control Mejia displayed last summer just a fluke?

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Jason Renyt Tyner

  • AJF

Trust me we all feel the same

  • PessiMets

Well mejia probably won’t last till the 5th with all the pitches

  • ArchieBellandTheDrells

I think it’s time for bullpen Mejia

  • corny12491

Wow four pitch walk to revere?

  • Mets fans are sick in the head, I hope Y’all aren’t bashing Flores like twitter is already. Sad thing is I don’t even follow the mongo’s out there,

  • The water’s fine, come on in…

  • Weeeee!

  • Anthony

    Just level headed folks here

  • Mets4ever

    Aw right

  • bspo1

nice getting out of the inning, but 40 pitches come on.

  • Big K!

  • CJM

Phew. I thought we were gonna see the patented Mejia Meltdown a few innings early this game.

  • Anyone against Mejia as closer? To me it may be a solid move. Only would be happy f he moved to the pen if that was the role.

  • corny12491

Probably the biggest reason Mejia should go to the bp. He does this way too often

  • All for it!

  • CJM

Off topic. CANNOT WAIT for Million Dollar Arm. I think it could very easily join the ranks of The Natural and Field of Dreams for best baseball movies.

  • Waz0787

Mejia in the minors. He has attitude problem, immature and lastly highly overrated

  • bspo1

I agree, he’s going to need to change his attitude though, he keeps saying he doesn’t want to do it.

  • Mets4ever

Joe D. What’s rotation for Yank series. Colon wheeler mejia gee?

  • What I’ve been thinking is deGrom & Black up now and cut loose Velveeta and Farnsworth. Move Mejia as
closer and Dice K in the rotation untill super 2 cutoff then replace him w/Montero.

  • Taskmaster4450

Cant find the strike zone to Revere and then blew a FB by Rollins for the K.

    Funny game.

  • corny12491

I wonder if giving him high leverage (setup or closer) will change his mind

  • El_Verdadero_Presidente

You ought to know about the first two.

  • Waz0787

    We love complaining dont hate.

  • Anthony

    Is that an auto biography

  • I would have Campbell here already, posted that over a week ago. The sentiments in my comments were too early. Why wait?

  • Hotstreak

I thought personal insults were banned.

  • Chris H

I want Mejia to be the closer. He wants to be a great starter like Pedro he said but don’t think it’s gonna happen. Be like Rivera instead Mejia that’s what we need

  • TDA has long strides when he runs to first, deceptively fast.

  • CJM

D’Arnaud for leadoff hitter. Who else on the Mets beats that out? Probably nobody. Maybe EYJ.

  • George_Theodore

he said the other day he was fine with the bullpen, he is just concerned with having a regular role for health reasons

  • Nothing wrong with complaining. I excel at that. Just give the guy a fuggin inning before wanting to quit on him.

  • That sounds right.

  • He’s a gazelle.

  • CJM

Hard not to love the game when you see Mejia smiling.

  • Thanks McCarver…

  • Hotstreak

I felt game on the line early.

  • PessiMets

Risp!!! Mets r always terrible at this stat

  • E1Guapo

Next up: Salty Gary sings from the Great American Songbook

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Keith’s a riot again

  • Mets4ever

    2 out big hit here

  • Anthony

Ah Felix Milan one of my all time favorites

  • CJM

LOL I predict the captain fails here.

  • corny12491

I do hope that eventually he can 2nd. this lineup would be a lot deeper

  • Waz0787

    7 more years :-/

  • Hotstreak

    IBB to face DW

  • FLY ME TO THE MOON….

  • While Cohen was just talking about Murphy leading second basemen in hits in 2013, someone should have told him he led the league in hits.

  • Chris H

C’mon Wright left center gap like old times

  • PessiMets

    Another big hit grandy

  • Ted Danson

    Come on Grandy Slam!

  • You really enjoy what you do, don’t you? lol

  • corny12491

    can hit* 2nd

  • CJM

Murphy didn’t lead the league in hits, though.

  • El_Verdadero_Presidente

    I don’t think that’s true, Mr. D.

  • bspo1

    Carpenter.

  • CJM

    Yes all of it.

  • Kian Momeni

    Carpenter led the league

  • MetsfanInParadise

    you beat me to it!

  • Really? Thought he did…

  • Kevin H

He was #2 in the NL. Cohen mentioned it.

  • Ah no. 2, thanks

  • I can still see Ott throwing him like a rag doll.

  • corny12491

    the suspense

  • bspo1

bases loaded 2 innings in a row, 0 runs.

  • PessiMets

Hey he saw a lot of pitches

  • Ted Danson

    Typical Mets.

  • CJM

    Wow 6 LOB, 1 run.

  • corny12491

they are letting this guy off the hook, they could have at least 3 runs already

  • Kevin H

2 innings in and already 6 LOB. Typical Mets.

  • HarveyKsYou

This guy is terrible and we only have one run.. Ugh.

  • bspo1

    clutch factor, 0.

  • Anthony

Does Felix still have the most at bats in a season record for the mets

  • bspo1

    hey, he’s a CY contender.

  • E1Guapo

    Says Matt Cerrone?

  • bspo1

    well, just against the mets.

  • AJF

Wow the Marlins would of put up 7 runs by now Phillie fans are probably starting to feel bad for us

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Hit it off the trademark.

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Isn’t everyone?

  • If we are truly building for the future, a good manager wouldn’t have TDA buried at the bottom of the order the way Collins has. For nearly his entire MLB stint he’s had either Tejada, Quintanilla or the pitcher hitting behind him. Put the kid in a position to succeed for crying out loud.

  • bspo1

    that would require brains.

  • Mets4ever

I would be happy with a good mgr

  • corny12491

bat him numba twooooo. ive been hoping for this for awhile

  • Andrew Herbst

    I think TDA should bat # 2.

  • E1Guapo

Lewin just said it, Mets fans don’t want to hear the labor they just want to see the baby!

  • billpulsipher

these 2 teams totally dont look like 4th and 5th place teams..no, not at all

  • That’s where I’ve wanted him as well. Seems perfectly suited for that spot.

  • MetsfanInParadise

That’s facile. We’ve been in labor for 4 years

  • Hotstreak

Cohen’s stat LOB shows why OBP is misleading and RBI’s mean something.

  • corny12491

Joe think of how deep this lineup would be. you could bat grandy 7 for crying out loud

  • E1Guapo

    Is Joe D. our Doula?

  • mets4lyfe

A person could write a book on ‘How Not to Score Runs in Baseball’ just by looking the at Mets.

Man on 2nd and 3rd with less than 2 outs, no runs scored.

Bases-loaded with less than 2 outs, no runs scored.

Man on 3rd with less than 2 outs, no run scored.

The Mets do exactly what you DON’T want to do in these situations and it has been like this for the past couple of years.. Whatever approach Alderson is preaching to these players is obviously not going through considering the Mets are consistenly one of the top 5 worst offensive teams. Maybe if he didn’t put such emphasis on PPPA (and other things involving trying to drive the pitch-count up) and actually watched the games, he’d see that his principles of hitting are just not compatable with the current Mets roster. Too bad his arrogance and pride won’t let him admit that he’s made a mistake.

  • They both have merit IMO.

  • bspo1

    nice catch!

  • Kevin H

That’s not fair. It’s been years. Plus doctor Sandy told us the baby was coming in 2014. Did not realize Lewin was a FO shill.

  • HarveyKsYou

    Mejia not looking sharp.

  • Any Howard Stern fans? Today is the 5th anniversary of the Ba Ba Booey wild opening pitch at Shea. Keven Burkhardt did narration for the event and it was on Sirius channel 101 today around 5pm. I missed it but it will be replayed all weekend.

  • El_Verdadero_Presidente

Utley reminds me of Stan Laurel.

  • E1Guapo

I think he was calling out the FO for saying that the Mets were just getting tough luck outs so far this season and sticking by their hitting approach

  • Anthony

    Could Stan hit?

  • You gotta admit it takes guts to say he is either Pedro Martinez or Mariano Rivera at this early stage. I could never do that. lol

  • George_Theodore

    that’s a classic!

  • AJF

I swear I feel like I been watching the same game for the last 4 yrs

  • Kevin H

Ah, then I like him again.

  • HarveyKsYou

Mejia needs to go to the bullpen.

  • He sure can, didn’t you see him slap those line drives in March of the Wooden Soldiers?

  • BCleveland3381
  • Mets4ever

Giving this game away. Blew too many chances

  • MetsfanInParadise

KB off covering the NFL draft?

  • bspo1

    bullpen time.

  • 2rings

and that my friends is what happens when you have the bases loaded 2 innings in a row with ZERO runs

  • CJM

    Let the meltdown commence.

  • PessiMets

I didn’t know u were allowed to get a runner home from third with less than 2 outs

  • bspo1

we truly are a last place team.

  • Waz0787

    Mets getting swept.

  • MikePiazza3186

    Go away!!

  • muskytoes

I’ve seen other teams do it a lot.

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Don’t feed the troll

  • Apparently it is possible.

  • MetsfanInParadise

I read about it. Back in the 1800s?

  • George_Theodore

He’s hosting MLB Whiparound at midnight on Fox Sports 1

  • MetsfanInParadise

    huh.

  • E1Guapo

That’s not part of this team’s organizational hitting philosophy

  • The best is when Gary and Robin separately went On Kimmel’s show. Kimmel and Howard are fiends and Kimmel had Robin throw and after his look into the camera was just perfect.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mps69TKTTXs

  • Waz0787

They got swept in miami. No life they’re playing with no emotions. When you leave so many runners on base. You deserve to lose.

    Ronnie’s reaction is beyond priceless.

  • metsfan79

    This. Yes please

  • MetsfanInParadise

If my last name was pronounced “Jerko” I’d seriously consider changing it

  • George_Theodore

i think he’s been doing Fox stuff on the weekends

  • El_Verdadero_Presidente

God was steering that right to the bag, but Satin prevailed.

  • MetsfanInParadise

Jose Fernandez could no-hit the Padres tonight

  • PessiMets

Good job by mejia getting out of the jam, I’d still love to see mejia in the bullpen and bring up montero. Then in July trade colon and bring Noah.

  • PessiMets

    Good one!

  • Mets4ever

    Rangers up 4-1

  • bspo1

he really would be a shutdown closer.

  • PessiMets

We just need a dependable closer but I agree

  • Hotstreak

Mejia is awful by having a typical Wheeler game. SA you walk on water. Omar you sunk the ship.

  • WillisReid

He could slam his glove down on the ground like spiking a football, after getting the 3rd out.

  • That Wright photo is a perfect avatar.

And if I had that last name I would live up to it and embrace it.

  • Anthony

How bout a bakers dozen here

  • MetsfanInParadise

I saw the photo and couldn’t resist. The look on his face speaks volumes

  • The Mad Hungarian.

  • Mets4ever

    Satin sucks

  • MyasDaddy

GET THE DAMN BAT OFF YOUR SHOULDER! CHRIST!

  • MikePiazza3186

Man satin has to go he stinks!!!!

  • El_Verdadero_Presidente

    Never say that to Satin.

  • MyasDaddy

    Ha. He is terrible.

  • jaypayton

Both these teams are awful. Clearly the bottom feeders of the division

  • Metfan9876

For sure. I’ll be watching. Anytime a young talent like him comes into the majors, I always enjoy watching.

  • bspo1

    .500!

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

    Wilmer in da hizouse!

  • Traid!

  • Andrew Herbst

    Nice hitting Wilmer!

  • George_Theodore

    Flores is a baseball player

  • Taskmaster4450

    The kid can hit.

  • metsfan79

    Ugh flores tejada no difference

  • SinHalo27

Good hit Flo. On top of the high FB!

  • metsfan79

    Look at the rookies

  • Andrew Herbst

Good job by TDA to clear the pitchers spot.

  • Waz0787

    I have a better avatar.

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

d’Arnaud in da hizouuuuuse! Youth movement!

  • bspo1

great time for that first hit.

  • oleosmirf

He’s not the SS of the future though. Just a way to his bat in the lineup and see if he’s a ML hitter.

  • Mets4ever

Mejia hit. Unfortunately not gonna happen. Hope for a walk

  • oleosmirf

    here comes the first hit

  • Damn, come on Mejia do it!

  • Metfan9876

    Damn

  • HarveyKsYou

We give up a lot of hits to opossing starters though..

  • bspo1

    laughable at this point.

  • Mets4ever

Good thing we have mr eyebrows batting. 6

  • El_Verdadero_Presidente

Why was he allowed to throw one of those bendy things to our pitcher?

  • 8 LOB through 3 innings. #Fail

  • George_Theodore

I hope he’s enjoying his last major league game..

  • Mets4ever

Your lips to Collins / Aldersons ears

  • George_Theodore

It’s only the 4th inning? man!

  • Andrew Herbst

This feels like a Steve Trachsel game.

  • bspo1

Mejia needs to pick up the pace.

  • Anthony

Good to hear gelb on the job

  • MetsfanInParadise

    He’s kind of bland

  • Mets4ever

Let’s get thru this top half inning. We will finally break thru bottom 4th

  • SchadenfreudianSlip

    You are high

  • El_Verdadero_Presidente

Jenrry has such personality. Really hope he makes it big.

  • Anthony

    He forgot his pocket protector

  • Taskmaster4450

He has a closer’s personality…a bit off but cool.

  • George_Theodore

he should totally dye his hair Mets orange

  • Metfan9876

I’d love to see him succeed, whether it’s as a starter or a reliever, it doesn’t matter to me.

  • Hotstreak

Mejia fork ball shades of Elroy Face of Pirate closer lore.

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Flores too

  • Taskmaster4450

I like that Flores is confident that he can play SS at the major league level.

  • Super T

NBA Playoffs, NFL draft, baseball…..so much going on it’s a great time to be a sports fan right now.

  • Me too, can’t recall someone as animated and who’s having as much fun, on this team in a long time.

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Reyes

  • George_Theodore

    Reyes maybe?

  • Mets4ever

    No walk here

  • Yep, definitely.

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

    Shut up, Gary.

  • bspo1

    so many pitches.

  • Oscar…

  • Taskmaster4450

The Mets should let Mejia pitch 5 then Wheeler for 4 then switch them the next game.

They both throw way too many pitches.

  • Hotstreak

But it is true dispute it.

  • MetsfanInParadise

YEAH!. That AB will probably cost Mejia the 6th inning.

  • We do that a lot in AA and A during the dog days.

  • Super T

    Mejia 5th inning coming up

  • Hotstreak

    A Garden Party.

  • MetsfanInParadise

I had that card. That was in my collecting heyday

  • Anthony

    Omar Moreno had some hair

  • Me too. The good old days.

  • Tomthetinker

there was nothing as fun as watching Jose play ball.

  • billpulsipher

    dreads of the NL East..shameful

  • Anthony

    Hernandez’s best start this season

  • PessiMets

And the mets bats go to sleep

  • MetsfanInParadise

Letting another pitcher off the hook.

  • El_Verdadero_Presidente

I was about to scream at Juan for not taking a pitch and then Murphy goes down on two.

  • muskytoes

Time to start popping the pre-emptive imodium.

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

    Captain K

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Another awful pitch call.

  • Mets4ever

    Well that was depressing

  • Anthony

Wtf this bum is mowing us down

  • MetsfanInParadise

Hey Joe, how come I can’t see who’s given me the thumbs up til I refresh the page?

  • Taskmaster4450

Give Wright a golf club for that one.

  • MetsfanInParadise

He had to swing at it, after the previous pitch was called a strike

  • El_Verdadero_Presidente

    That’s Disqus.

  • SchadenfreudianSlip

No one has said Mejia is awful. And when Wheeler struggles through early innings, people criticize.

The Sandy v. Omar stuff is just pure nonsense and a waste of discussion.

People are legitimatey concerned about Mejia throwing so many pitches because he has shown a penchance for tiring and having the wheels come off. That analysis should have no bearing on or relation to what anyone says about Wheeler. But you can’t get out of your own mindset of this Sandy v. Omar crap.

I actually feel bad for you. Most of us Mets fans can enjoy all our players. You have built this stupid wall and must root against half the team because of your hatred for Sandy.

    Also, you’re high.

  • mr. belvedere

Anyone know the status on Cechini? Left last night’s game and is out tonight?

  • derek murphy

Hopefully TDA was insulted by being in the 8 hole and it jump starts his game. Lately the effort hasn’t been there and it seems like he’s going through the motions.

It’s cool when you have a call up and he gets a hit in first game. That usually helps them relax rather than go games w/I and start pressing.

Hopefully Mejia has a quick inning.

  • MetsfanInParadise

    “Disqus sucks”

  • Mets4ever

    No attempt to avoid

  • Hotstreak

Your post should have been to Jason Bay the blogger and Destry. I just counter their nonsense I did not start it.

  • Tomorrow’s Nolan Ryan bobblehead.

  • metsfan79

Easy boys are super prospect Lastings Milledge looked like he was having fun

  • George_Theodore

    can it pitch?

  • MetsfanInParadise

Joe did you delete my Rollins comment?

  • PessiMets

    Here it comes

  • MetsfanInParadise

    decent likeness

  • What Rollins comment?

  • MetsfanInParadise

F–k Rollins (without the hyphens), when he was fouling off all those pitches

  • Hotstreak

    Excuses are getting ridiculous.

  • SchadenfreudianSlip

I really don’t get the Jason Bay hatred by you Core folks. His posts are well thought out and always backed up by facts or at least explanations of where he’s coming from. His view, which clearly you disagree with and which clearly justifies some short term pain, is that of a mets fan with hope and acceptance/understanding of the reality of the situation. Broke arse owners and a GM whose only choice is to rebuild an entire organization to hopefully have a chance of extended success despite onging payroll limitations.

Why does that anger you so?

Also, being high isn’t necessarily a criticism.

  • Would have never gotten by filter.

  • MetsfanInParadise

Is that new? I was pretty profane last week

  • Mets4ever

    It did

  • metsfan79

Im kinda happy lagarrs flores and tda I truly enjoy them truth be told I dont mind the struggle with the kids playing

  • Kid8

It showed up, but when I re-loaded the page it was gone.

  • MetsfanInParadise

    me too

  • You could say it’s new, yes.

  • Hotstreak

Enough. I agree with JB on certain issues but not the trashing of Omar which is uncalled for. That is it from me as I watching the game.

  • Delayed reaction by Disqus I guess.

  • SchadenfreudianSlip

Once again I’m watching the game by following this comment thread and occasionally checking twitter. The youngest Slip is watching Peppa Pig and the slightly older but still young Slip is in the bedroom with Mrs. Slip watching a cooking show. It is quite apparent that I am not the king of my castle.

  • goorru

ThE Mets have such boring bobble heads.

  • $14435385

Does anyone have a Jim Fregosi bobble head?

  • Destry

They both suck. I just like to get you guys fired up.

  • Or it got 5 flags which automatically deletes any comment.

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Add Gameday

  • derek murphy

They are so stupid. How do you start an inning w a change up w mejia on the mound. He has such a great cutter he should throw it at least 70% of the time. When its that good it dont matter if they know its coming. Mariano really took off when he started throwing the cutter all the time. He has a good curve and change and can use them to keep people honest but he’s all over with these pitches. Cutter, cutter, cutter thank you.

  • Hotstreak

No one runs sprints more than Daniel Murphy. I have seen him do it.

  • SchadenfreudianSlip

I keep assuming that I’ll get back control of the remote. But yeah, that’s long overdue.

And as I type, the littlest went to join the cooking show viewing and I’m back on the game.

  • George_Theodore

    you need 3 TVs

  • MyasDaddy

    Wear a cup kid!

  • derek murphy

Come on throw the god damn cutter. Another breaking ball. Come on.

  • Andrew Herbst

    Poor Wilmer.

  • Bartolololol

    right in the testis

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Ronnie doesn’t prevaricate

  • Mets4ever

Horrible throw. C’mon jenri this is your last inning. Go out strong

  • SchadenfreudianSlip

Yeah, I’m 7 weeks from 5 TVs. And GameDay is still the right idea.

  • derek murphy

Yeah FB. Uh oh Flores never wears a cup so you know that hurt.

  • derek murphy

    Please no more change ups

  • El_Verdadero_Presidente

We won’t even ask how you discovered that.

  • derek murphy

Ok a curve. How bout a cutter

  • metsfan79

Thata hysterical cannon by tda and a blow to florrs….

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Between the legs (where)

  • Mets4ever

    Damnit

  • PessiMets

    And that’s probably the game

    Doubt it

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Neither did Valdespin

  • 2rings

again, this is what you get when you leave the bases loaded 2 innings in a row and get ZERO RUNS

  • Anthony

How are we behind in this game

  • HarveyKsYou

Time to move him to the bullpen. He gives you no length.

  • PessiMets

    The mets have patented that

  • MikePiazza3186

    Yea bring up montero

  • HawkZon

CY has no arm in the outfield.

  • KMO82

If the moved Mejia now it would be Dice-K who would prob get the spot.

  • corny12491

the other team has scored more than we have. :p

  • metsfan79

Huh y pull him here? Because he gave up the bloop and

  • HarveyKsYou

    The stadium is dead. Typical!

  • PessiMets

    He has no anything

  • derek murphy

How do they do this to this kid. I hate TC. Somebody needs to tell TC if they are going to continue to call games they should get a clue.

  • MyasDaddy

This is the Mets problem. This is why we will never amount to anything. Because of the idiotic decisions they make. Let this kid go. Show some confidence in him. Jesus, I am sick of tired of them butcher young talent. Just let the kid start, and let him go. For crying out loud! Stop f’n with his psyche, If I see Dice-K start for them, I quit.

  • PessiMets

Yeah cause they have to wait for super 2 cut off date

  • HarveyKsYou

    This isn’t on TC.

  • George_Theodore

for a month, tops.. then Montero

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Shinjo!

  • welcome to the bullpen, Jenrry

  • 2rings

agreed. This is on JM..and the offense

  • He’s got nothing at this point. He has proven over and over and over again that he cannot go deep into games

  • SchadenfreudianSlip

Love a guy who loves to play the game, and play it he way he did/does

  • MetsfanInParadise

Even after 101 pitches I’d still rather see Jenrry try to get this out than DK

  • Mets4ever

If like to see some combination Familia Mejia Black as 7- closer DFA Valverde asap

  • SinHalo27

Becoming more clear with each start Mejia’s best work may come out of the bullpen.

  • Chris H

Yes it’s time to try Mejia in the closers spot. He is lights out usually the 1st time through an order. Make the move after tonight’s game

  • Anthony

Time for a haircut jenry it might change your luck

  • George_Theodore

I would have let Jennry finish the inning

  • mr. belvedere

Mejia needs to be in the bullpen enough is enough, he’s a Max effort strike thrower that can get rh and lh out…he’s killing the bullpen every time he starts now. .. and the intangibles of holding runners on, fielding his position, and handling the bat are all really bad, he’s a reliever and probably a really good one

  • metsfan79

100% serious question is collins trying to get fired?

  • BurnInHellWilpons

yeah or a wash. that sh*t looks dirty as hell

  • did TC make him have 100+ pitches after 5.2?

  • MyasDaddy

Where are we going? Just let the kid develop. I really believe he has the best stuff on the staff. I just wish they would stop jerking the kid around and let him pitch.

  • $14435385

Curious if Recker has caught Mejia this year. Anyone know offhand?

  • HarveyKsYou

So much for being a good defender.

  • Mariano had the best stuff on the staff for all those Yankees teams too. He would’ve sucked in the rotation.
Also, I am not ready to concede the season on 5/9 at a game under .500

  • George_Theodore

yeah, Dice to start innings at least.. he’s not a reliever

  • Anthony

    Deja vu all over again

  • 2rings

can anyone here play this game?

  • bspo1

    Much deserved loss

  • MyasDaddy

Who is more important? A good starter or a shut down closer?

  • MetsfanInParadise

    It’s only the 5th inning

  • SinHalo27

Those great framing skills unfortunately don’t translate to caught stealing for TdA.

  • Waz0787

Is that you? You didn’t get hacked?

  • Chris H

He is just built to be a closer with so much movement with his pitches but can’t get through 5 innings

  • MyasDaddy

I really hate Dice-K. Stop being cheap and bring up the goods. I am sick and tired of seeing this crap.

  • Mets4ever

We have extra starter candidates. No closer. I vote closer for Mets

  • huh?

  • Anthony

    Running at will

  • George_Theodore

Dice K is not a reliever, end of story..

  • MetsfanInParadise

    2 run single-watch

  • Mets4ever

He better not walk or get a hit here

  • who’s Will? Can he pitch?

  • MyasDaddy

    Of course its coming.

  • MetsfanInParadise

That’s Fiore Gino Tenaci to you

  • Mets4ever

Glad Fausto is still gonna be pitching.

  • Tomthetinker

    thanks for your scouting report.

  • Tomthetinker

I think it looks pretty awesome.

  • KMO82

Yup, and I am sure they have some sort of agreement with Dice-K that if this kind of thing happened he’d get the first shot at a rotation spot.

  • Hotstreak

Why did Sandberg let the pitcher hit with his high pitch count?

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Hai Karate

  • Anthony

I’m not so sure about that

  • mr. belvedere

    Your welcome champ

  • George_Theodore

    good question

  • QueensRussell

WHat’s the under/over that we score another run?

  • KMO82

Depends, are you predicting the Phils will score again?

  • El_Verdadero_Presidente

This game sucks a little bit, but the board atmosphere tonight is about 600% improved for some reason.

  • QueensRussell

    It was pronounced “Tennis”, no?

  • Anthony

Someone tell sandberg to have a laugh once in awhile

  • KMO82

    you guys hear that sigh?

  • Waz0787

Will the mets score another run to tie this game? I am sorry but the reality is TDA may not be that great Towers and Teagarden were highly rated prospects that couldn’t make it in the majors. I guess sh* t happens this is the reality.

  • mr. belvedere

Kind of hard to throw a guy out when he gets an 8 step jump

  • QueensRussell

    C’mon Mets MVP!

  • George_Theodore

time to have a Feast-o on Fausto!

  • Mets4ever

    Pinch hit for satin here

  • KMO82

    Thats what we needed lol

  • QueensRussell

    MVP DP ball…and woo-hoo rally!

  • Waz0787

I miss all my friends. :-/

  • MikePiazza3186

    Cy stinks

  • Taskmaster4450

That couldnt have happened to a nicer guy.

  • HarveyKsYou

Jeff Mathis is another one; guy can’t hit a lick, but very good fielder. He was highly touted.

  • Anthony

    Was that tejada

  • QueensRussell

Dunno, thought Grandy should have scored. Youse?

  • George_Theodore

i’ll take duda with his IV

  • KMO82

    no outs

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Jimmy Rollins-my new best friend

  • BurnInHellWilpons

    0 out.

  • KEITH

What the heck is up with Wright? The captain. Captain America. Face of the franchise, and baseball. Glasses or hit the weight room. Has to do something different. Thank you Rollins!!!

  • QueensRussell

    Hail, Satin!

  • Taskmaster4450

    Satin take strike 3 here?

  • George_Theodore

    We HAVE to score here!

  • Mets4ever

At least chances of a DP is small

  • QueensRussell

Not in our parallel universe, necessarily.

  • Anthony

Why be aggressive with all the runs we are scoring

  • George_Theodore

    Keith trashing Satin

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Teufel is aggressive-he’s not stupid

  • KEITH

Where is Duda? Missed the pregame. Did he have a stomach ache?

  • corny12491

good keith yell at satin. time to drop him there are adequate options in AAA

  • Anthony

    Hernandez will pull a houdini

  • George_Theodore

    Buy-Bye, Satin!

  • iwamofo

    Back to AAA buddy…

  • QueensRussell

OMG, he sucks, DFA this punk!

  • Mets4ever

I hope Soup is on a flight here

  • El_Verdadero_Presidente

Satin coming up with a new deadly sin every time he’s up there.

  • Manuel1991

    Bring up campbell satin sucks

  • BurnInHellWilpons

SEND THIS PEICE OF TRASH SATIN TO THE DUMP WHERE HE BELONGS

  • 2rings

DFA do NOT wait for end of game….RIGHT NOW

  • PessiMets

No accountability on this team if satin is here tomorrow

  • HarveyKsYou

Time for Jason Bay jr to help us

  • Skip

    Free Soup!!!

  • Chris H

    Satin sucks

  • CJM

I’ll drive this guy to Vegas myself. Seriously.

  • George_Theodore

he was in the hospital getting an IV.. was in the dugout but didn’t look good

  • MyasDaddy

    Bye Bye Satin!

  • $14435385

    Soup time.

  • Super T

Anyone rather see Tejeda here? Anyone…….?

  • MikePiazza3186

This has gotta be it for satin

  • MetsfanInParadise

    What a surprise

  • MyasDaddy

    We got that. WSOP time…

  • MetsfanInParadise

    The RBI machine?

  • Metsfan27

Bro you have an awesome username.. I love it haha

  • QueensRussell

    Interesting K Zone

  • Super T

    Q???

  • Anthony

    Wtf

  • CJM

Haha yeah I mean I’d like to go to Vegas any time. It’d be icing on the cake if the Mets were to send Satin there with me.

  • Mets4ever

    Disgusting.

  • QueensRussell

    This is ugly, incidentally!

  • MikePiazza3186

    Gary said it. Wow!!!

  • Tomthetinker

    ugh

  • MetsfanInParadise

Sandy obviously doesn’t read this blog

  • KMO82

It would usually be TDA and now Tejada, technically.

  • MikePiazza3186

Tda with a clutch double here

  • QueensRussell

    TDA will help us!

  • 2rings

Satin and Hudgens have to be gone, right now

  • Waz0787

    Joe,

Please bring back my friends. This site is not the same without them.

  • HarveyKsYou

    Overrated.

  • Chris H

If they done score with runners on 2nd n 3rd no outs I give up

  • MyasDaddy

    $100 on black?

  • PessiMets

This team sucks, watch tda k after he’s had two meaningless hits

  • MetsfanInParadise

What’s the opposite of making a deal with the devil?

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Thank God for that

  • Waz0787

Now u know why I said mets are getting swept. We can’t hit

  • BurnInHellWilpons

god this team is so frustrating! i swear this team is gunna be what kills me.

  • KMO82

    Good lord

  • PessiMets

    Night it’s over

  • MikePiazza3186

    Wow he belted that one

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

It doesnt matter who is on this team. They are cursed. Never seen a more inept team.

  • MyasDaddy

    BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

  • 2rings

    PATHETIC

  • Anthony

    NFL draft anyone

  • Chris H

    Wow this team is horrible

  • Super T

Might wanna pitch that to the Wilpons’, you save them $ and they might take you up on it.

  • HarveyKsYou

    Blame is on Flores.

  • MetsAussieNation

    that sucks.

  • bspo1

this team is almost impossible to watch. I think it’s time to take some time off.

  • Kian Momeni

Everyone should be booing in the stands. Absolutely Rediculous

  • QueensRussell

On a brighter note, we still have four chances to score!

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

    Only the Mets

  • $14435385

    Can both teams lose tonight?

  • KMO82

    Soup is 2-2 tonight…

  • bspo1

to watch 3 hitters do what they just did is absolutely unacceptable and someone needs to be held accountable for this putrid offense.

  • ArchieBellandTheDrells

    will we ever win again?

  • jaypayton

All u sandy lovers might wanna be quiet the rest of the year. This team is ABSOLUTE GARBAGE. gutless piece of trash 95 loss team lead by the genius sandy. BOYCOTT

  • mr. belvedere

That’s it blame tda but not satin and Flores for striking out, if they did what tda did the game would be tied

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

Wilmer Flores the RBI machine! The next Miguel Cabrera!

  • MikePiazza3186

    Wha wha wha!!!!its 2-1 relax

  • Taskmaster4450

Easy runs and the team doesnt take them.

Hernandez is right about Satin. Too many moving parts to be a successful major league hitter.

The league caught onto him….time to go.

  • MikePiazza3186

    Yes tonight

  • George_Theodore

the minute i see “sandy lover” i dismiss everything else that person has to say

  • HarveyKsYou

His ceiling is Daniel Murphy with a few more home runs.. That’s a solid but just regular player.

  • Destry

That is unacceptable. 2nd & 3rd nobody out’ down 1, and we can’t hit a damn fly ball or grounder to 2nd. Ridiculous

  • jaypayton

Bring Trevor Dunn and Alex back. They were the voice of reason

  • Hotstreak

TdA had the other Aberu to protect him. So much for setting one up to succeed or fail when they all by themselves continue to fail.

  • Waz0787

    Amen. Pathetic team

  • MikePiazza3186

Lol it’s like travolta in grease!

  • bspo1

you are absolutely right it’s unacceptable, only team in the majors that doesn’t drive at least one of those runs in let alone two. Sandy Alderson, Terry and Hudgens need to be held accountable.

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Right there with ya bro

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

    I was promised Cabrera today.

  • Anthony

Never fear terry Collins will guide this ship home tonight

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

They are the worst team in the history of sports ever!

  • Damn, enough with Arenado already. They haven’t shutup about him for over a week.

  • MetsfanInParadise

They are the worst thing in the history of ever!

  • HarveyKsYou

They can rave about Flores then… Oh wait.

  • jaypayton

BRING TREVOR DUNN AND ALEX BACK. THE VOICES OF REASON

  • MyasDaddy

CJM- You wanna take Dice-K with us?

  • jaypayton

The last 4 years are unacceptable

  • KEITH

Where does this team rank in Mets history, as being the most disappointing offensive club. I’ve seen many of them, but this ranks right up there.

  • Waz0787

Bring back Trevor and Alex. They were the voice for logical mets fan. You’re turning into like scumbags from metsblog.

  • Hotstreak

    It’s news.

  • MyasDaddy

That may be the magic word to get you tossed.

  • HarveyKsYou

    The magic is back!!

  • George_Theodore

Welcome to the new MMO, TROLL FREE ZONE!

  • Anthony

We could trade for arrenado today an he would forget how to hit tomorrow

  • MyasDaddy

It is trolling but he is frustrated like we all. He just chooses to express like a mad man.

  • Waz0787

He sold out to the wilpons too

  • QueensRussell

We tolerate some garbage like you, but we have some self-respect as Mets lovers, so don’t push it!

  • jaypayton

Flores looking like the scrub that he is.

  • HarveyKsYou

    What about wild wheels?

  • jaypayton

They weren’t trolls. They were fans of this garbage team who didn’t sit around and accept losing like a lot of u have

  • George_Theodore

we’re all frustrated, but i’ve never seen Waz do anything but trolling

  • QueensRussell

He’s 22. What kind of stupid pill did you ingest?

  • MetsfanInParadise

That was impressive, I guess. Just so inconsistent

  • Waz0787

I will complain until there is a change. Freedom of speech baby. I shal not be kept quiet

  • George_Theodore

Like this? “Flores looking like the scrub that he is.”

    Troll!

  • QueensRussell

Negativity, frustrated MMO participants are one thing, but some of the Turds writing are just too much for genuine Mets fan to take.

  • George_Theodore

    Troll

  • George_Theodore

there’s no freedom of speech on chat boards, dude. grow up

  • Joanie Yan

Why is everyone so upset and irritable? The team was projected to win 74 games and that’s what they’ll win.

  • Waz0787

You were one of those who probably got too excited seeing mets finishing second base in our division

  • MyasDaddy

No more settling. Time to be held accountable.

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

Bad start for Mejia. Bullpen bound.

  • gameball

You were promised “a body like Cabrera.” Very different thing.

  • QueensRussell

Well, Joanie, we certainly hope they win more than that, but people are so irritable when it looks as if they play the game with no fight or smarts; drives us fans crazy, no?

  • Waz0787

Hush. Don’t write that you will upset a lot of people here who drank sandy’s kool aid

  • George_Theodore

I seriously hope you’re 12 years old, otherwise I feel sorry for you.

  • QueensRussell

    Here we go!

  • MyasDaddy

I wish we could send you to a bullpen.

  • We only need a pair of runs, let’s do it here.

  • WilponsNeed2Go

Are you crying Judas! Cause the Rangers just embarrassed your team in your adopted home!!!!! Why don’t you move to Pittsburgh!!!!!!!

  • Please no bunt!

  • Anthony

    Let him hit

  • HarveyKsYou

    We’re cursed.

  • QueensRussell

    C’mon JLag!

  • KEITH

In the real world, Collins and his crew would be gone. Someone has to be held accountable. That’s the way it has always been. For an offense to be this bad is unacceptable.

  • QueensRussell

Do you send EY, or no chance down a run?

  • Lagares is going to be so good. Lots of good signs we’re seeing in his at-bats. He is evolving.

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

Send him. Make something happen. Cant wait for this offense to get a timely hit.

  • Damn, slider….

  • Anthony

    This is bad

  • We got Murphy and Wright up, we can do this!

  • Okay that was disappointing.

  • QueensRussell

    C’mon David–come through!!!

  • HarveyKsYou

The fans barely cheer for Wright anymore.. The fan base is dying all thanks to the Wilpons.

  • saturn

the mets bad…very bad…all those bases loaded chances…all those runners with no outs…very very bad

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

Honestly. Who thinks he is actually going to drive a run in here? I dont.

  • QueensRussell

    Yeah, esp. with an IW

  • MyasDaddy

Shame on you Wilpons. The crowd is dead, the passion is gone.

  • QueensRussell

    Grandy Be Dandy!

  • It’s Free Shirt Friday with Grandy T-shirts. A 3 run bomb would be perfect!

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

Haha. Awwww. Does truth hurt? 101 pithes through four? Worse than Wheeler.

  • saturn

Cant believe they walked wright…you mean the league still respects him??

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

Obviously that made it impossible but he has been disappointing so far this season.

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

They dont but Grandy is an even easier out.

  • MetsfanInParadise

The Thrill Is Gone The thrill is gone
    The thrill is gone away
    The thrill is gone baby
    The thrill is gone away
You know you done me wrong baby
    And you’ll be sorry someday

  • saturn

youre light. throw low and in or low and out and hell swing

  • KMO82

    That was not a surprise.

  • saturn

    Like that

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

    Nothing wrong with this offense!!!

  • MikePiazza3186

Wow I’ve just never seen anything like this lol

  • QueensRussell

    Eatin’ broken glass here!!!

  • Super T

So you’re saying you haven’t signed on as a loyal fan yet?

  • Anthony

    Grandy took an aggressive cut

  • I’m running out of enthusiasm for this game. I feel so dirty.

  • HarveyKsYou

The worst offense in mets history. You have to factor in the good position players we have, as opposed to those terrible mets teams that did not have much hitters.

  • KEITH

TDA, Lagares, and Flores are going to catch the disease. The vets are not doing anything. Scary bad.

  • Anthony

    I feel used

  • WilponsNeed2Go

They should give out a T-shirt every time Grandy strikesout, that way we at least get something from him.

  • Mets4ever

He’s NOT a # 4 hitter. Don’t know what FO was thinking when they signed him to be one. We will never be good till we get a true # 4. Last one was Delgado

  • MyasDaddy

LOL! Oh yeah, I printed it out and put in my office as a reminder everyday of how much I hate myself.

  • $14435385

They need to give those t-shirt guns to the fans to shoot the giveaways back on the field…

  • Taskmaster4450

Simple fundamentals this team misses. Heck even Darling with Lagares bunt, why drop it to third when you have a lefty on the mound and Howard on first?

    They guys pay no attention.

  • HarveyKsYou

    Wild wheels!

  • MikePiazza3186

Help!!! I need somebody help!!! Not just anybody help!! Ya I need someone help!!!!

  • El_Verdadero_Presidente

I’ve lost something you can only lose once.

  • HarveyKsYou

He’s driven in our lone run…

  • MikePiazza3186

Lol this team is getting me delirious

  • Tomthetinker

How I long for the days of Jose Castillo Beltran Delgado wright alou

  • $14435385

Cold comfort…this is just brutal to watch all around.

  • Super T

Somebody should come up with a top ten list of things one can do with the Mets e-mail to the fans.

  • you also have to factor in 1/6 of a season when declaring them the worst offense in history

  • KEITH

I agree. Ive seen most of them.

  • Anthony

Watching paint drying is good therapy

  • I don’t think the league is quite like the dregs… err.. I mean denizens of MMO

  • Helloboy

    blow blow blow.

  • PessiMets

I’m so glad the wilpons saved money instead of going after abreu, I’m also glad they didn’t sign latroy and saved those 2.5 mill as well

  • MikePiazza3186

Lol faces of death is easier to watch

  • Mets4ever

We were in every game no matter the score.

  • MyasDaddy

Glad to see Familia getting more of a rub.

  • MetsfanInParadise

    NOT Castillo

  • metsman

Just tuning in..what kind of reception did Byrd get? It makes me sad thinking of him getting booed after all the love he gave us in the papers.

  • Familia impressing out of the pen lately.

  • PessiMets

Have the mets won a game since all that love?

  • saturn

I respect him. I got his signature and lovely photo. But all pitchers have to do is throw him a couple of balls and he will swing and miss. That was my point

  • George_Theodore

the crowd is dead.. i don;t even think they know who our players are

  • Anthony

    The crowd is comatose

  • Tomthetinker

I thought he was an ideal 2 hole hitter although his stay in n.y. Wasn’t what you would hope

  • PessiMets

He probably won’t pitch again till next week

  • MyasDaddy

They just have no clue. Whatsoever. Its so frustrating.

  • MetsfanInParadise

The pitching has been great all week. The Marlins scored 7 runs in 3 games.

  • Hotstreak

I hate Famila but this is the best I have seen him. He looks like Kimbrel right now.

  • metsman

Lol. We are desperate for a whipping boy lately…it was nice.

  • goorru

    Lol

  • metsman

So they are like Yankee fans?

  • MyasDaddy

Castillo in FL was really good. He was just broken down when he got here.

  • George_Theodore

They didn’t even cheer Flores in his first AB

  • Mets4ever

Like I said earlier. Combo of familia mejia and black to pitch 7-9.
I would have mejia as closer familia as set up man

  • and I am quite sure most pitchers aren’t as blase pitching to Wright as you make it sound. Maybe you’re just a better scout than the combined scouts of MLB. It’s possible, after all. If so, pay more attention and cash in on that expertise.
Until then, I think the league will regard him as a slumping, dangerous hitter… or perhaps he just forgot how to hit at 31 years old after a decade of wild success in the ML

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

Mets will use four or five relievers in this game because of Mejia. If he can’t give them length, he needs to move to relief.

  • derek murphy

Why not leave dice k in the way he breezed through the order he may have been able to pitch 3. They r gona need it to stay a close game. Satin n Flores let me down not getting a run in. Satin is such a waste if Campbell was in there results probably been different. Not only is he a good hitter but he’s an excellent situational hitter. Flores gota get the ball in play. That was brutal 2nd n 3rd no one out n we come away with nothing. Ouch.

  • metsman

How’d he do in the field?

  • saturn

  • George_Theodore

i’m not sure who these people are, or how they ended up at the game

  • seems obvious, doesn’t it?

  • I miss those games at Shea when the entire stadium would rock and the place was so loud rooting the team on when we were behind.

    Wilpons stole that from us.

  • this Sandy Hater talking point brought to you by: last week

  • George_Theodore

OK…. not a ton of chances but no major red flags

  • metsman

    Lol. Pod people!

  • SinHalo27

Familia is electric. They should have used him in more high leverage situations than the reclamation projects who worked for about a minute. TC being TC: gotta cater to the crusty old vets- save the clubhouse while losing games- awesome!!

  • HarveyKsYou

I say blow up Citi Field in the offseason and just let us play in the parking lot.. No one goes to the games anyways! Thanks Wilpons.

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

It’s clear enough to me. If they want to give him another start, fine. But there’s nothing wrong with moving to the pen. He would be great there I think.

  • Helloboy

TC only trusts people in his age demographic

  • MikePiazza3186

    Got heeem

  • WilponsNeed2Go

    Asche couldn’t even touch Familia!

  • MyasDaddy

    98 Smoke!

  • Solid inning from the big guy!

  • Helloboy

    he smoked asche

  • muskytoes

Montero 5 IP no-no so far (you can blame me if he doesn’t get it).

  • Waz0787

I admit most of my comments are very negative towards the mets. I am just tired watching them lose. Since 2006 its been nothing but crap for the mets. Last couple of games it seems like they’re lifeless. They look like zombies no energy what’s so ever. I can’t even hate on them. It’s like kicking a dead animal. Whats to hate? We can’t score runs when other team’s are basically saying score runs.

  • saturn

Yeah. We can all watch the PRO’s of this game. Dice K. And Familia is just filthy. We can also infer that Mejia will be a stud in the bullpen. And that Satin will be sent packing and they will bring someone at least that can hit the ball

  • KMO82

Prob will be pulled after one more inning at most.

  • Taskmaster4450

    Or Gary Cohen.

  • HarveyKsYou

Sadly, he hasn’t had goo control this year.. Which is odd.

  • SinHalo27

Orosco is warming up to face Utley…

  • goorru

It’s the team not the stadium

  • Taskmaster4450

Isnt a one run game about as high leverage as it gets?

  • muskytoes

    Yep, 91 pitches.

  • MetsfanInParadise

The good old days. I was there the night we clinched in ’86 and for 2 of the NLCS games. Electric! But you have to believe this place will rock in response to an exciting team.

  • MyasDaddy

    She got clocked!

  • KMO82

It’s possible that he is trying to stay out of the zone more in the PCL.

  • Wow poor woman got wrecked.

  • saturn

I saw Jamie Moyer on the Phillies Booth

  • gameball

Watching 4 hours of really crappy baseball will do that.

  • George_Theodore

since 2009… 2007 & 2008 they were in it the whole season.. nothing wrong with being negative, i think Collins sucks & Alderson is a lawyer..

  • MyasDaddy

    Yay! Satin is on deck!

  • El_Verdadero_Presidente

What kind of dirtbag doesn’t hand over that ball!?

  • SinHalo27

would have been nicer several losses ago

  • KEITH

Looks like Familia is gaining confidence.

  • donobrien

7th inning. Whydoes it feel like the 15th?

  • SinHalo27

    get him some spikes!

  • saturn

To be fair attendance is down in most MLB parks and has been in decline for years

  • KMO82

They will go on and on about how the Phillies bullpen has been struggling all year and we will watch them keep the Mets off the board.

  • Mets4ever

    Another K?

  • Anthony

When is cy gonna do something

  • Helloboy

    mets lost all confidence

  • George_Theodore

    Shea rocked!

  • I hope it continues. We’re definitely due for some good things happening for us.

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

    Worst hitting team ever.

  • HarveyKsYou

Josh Satin is terrible. Send this bum down.

  • KMO82

He’s being used more…funny how that works.

  • MyasDaddy

    Satin: Take, Take, Take

  • WilponsNeed2Go

If only he could hit, as well as he grows eyebrows!

  • MikePiazza3186

    He’s a stiff

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

A yuppy db like that dude.

  • MikePiazza3186

Doesn’t he know how to swing!!!??

  • This.

  • saturn

Since he cant hit, he will take…maybe he is hunting…for a pitch he is actually capable of hitting

  • El_Verdadero_Presidente

I know nothing about him and I dislike him intensely.

  • $14435385

That’s all he can do – he goes up there trying to walk. He’s not a major league baseball player…time to end this.

  • KEITH

I’ll be shocked if Satin plays another game up here.

  • Tomthetinker

    Satin sucksssssssssssszzzzzz

  • MikePiazza3186

Lol now that’s why he never swings!!

  • MetsfanInParadise

Alderson is a bean counter and we need a baseball man making the decisions. It’s about more than the balance sheet. Collins is one of the worst in-game managers I’ve seen. he has to go, regardless of how good he is in the clubhouse. He should be running the minor league system. Player development is his strength

  • Guest

    I will

  • knicksjp07

    satin sucks

  • MyasDaddy

    I wont

  • HarveyKsYou

He’s just another useless player: no speed, bad glove, no power, but can draw a walk and also strikeout a lot.

  • mikeyknows

    time to send satin down

  • PessiMets

    Mets starting another scoreless streak

  • oleosmirf

I think it’s time to make the move now. Satin isn’t the kind of player who “deserves” more time. Not enough of a resume.

Bring up Lutz or Campbell and move Pelfrey to the 60-day. Not need to DFA yet.

  • $14435385

It’s got to be hard to be an announcer in a game like this…

  • Mets4ever

I bet Flores was aggressive in Vegas. Now that he’s up here he will watch pitches go by

  • KMO82

Campbell is better than Satin but Soup could struggle too it he played just once a week.

  • Waz0787

    He won’t. Ownership doesn’t care

  • I will never hail Satin again. Lol

  • PessiMets

    Pelfrey?

  • mikeyknows

at this point, anyone is better than satin

  • HarveyKsYou

    Excuse you? Pelfrey?

  • MetsfanInParadise

We won’t know until…he couldn’t be any worse

  • Andrew Herbst

Move Famiia to 8th or closer.

  • Chris H

    Pelfrey is on the Twins

  • mikeyknows

twice as hard as a fan. at least they are getting paid

  • Agee’s Catch

    Flo!

  • HarveyKsYou

I swear he looks just like Bay up there.

  • gameball

I hope they’re not basing the decision on the weight of one start. Mejia to the pen makes sense—he’s not going to be able hold down a rotation spot through the season regardless of his success, his style and stuff are well suited for short bursts of effectiveness, and we have guys in Vegas who can get a chance to start.

  • SinHalo27

Wil Flo: 2 for 4, good return to the show

  • Change of heart? 😉

  • PessiMets

    Nobody on two base hits
    Runners on no hits= flores

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

Flores looks like the only guy other than Lagares on this team that has a clue how to hit.

  • muskytoes

    You mean Humber, right?

  • $14435385

    But we can leave…

  • Mets4ever

    Abreu should’ve hit for satin

  • KMO82

Well, I want Soup up here so lets find out lol. He offers more than Satin does. Plays more positions isn’t slow as molasses.

  • WilponsNeed2Go

Can we call sub .100 BA the Satin line? Or does another player have claim to that already?

  • saturn

    did you lick a toad?

  • HarveyKsYou

We’re cursed, it’s as simple as that.

  • MetsfanInParadise

    A Trachselian pace

  • Kian Momeni

    right down the middle..

  • Anthony

Give him a couple weeks an he will be hitting like the rest of these zombies

  • Tomthetinker

    Serious

  • Super T

    Battle of the offense futility.

  • mikeyknows

can someone swing the friggin bats here!!!!!!!!!!!

  • MikePiazza3186

Hudgens will get the boot by next week

  • MetsfanInParadise

Good question, Keith–what’s he looking for?

  • Mets4ever

Hudgens told him not to swing

  • KEITH

The Mets are breaking some records this year. Oh, nevermind.

  • KMO82

He’s looking for the walk! It’s like gold to this organization.

  • Helloboy

    what is a dexter mcdougal?

  • Chris H

I want Keith to be the hitting coach. I bet with him these guys wouldn’t be looking at pitches right down the pipe

  • Tomthetinker

    Wowwwwwww

  • HarveyKsYou

He does look weak up there.

  • MetsfanInParadise

    This is beyond comprehension

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

    Horrible

  • Andrew Herbst

    This is the worst offense.

  • KMO82

That would mess with Keith’s laying around time lol.

  • knicksjp07

i wonder how much longer they will stick with this hitting approach. or should i say waiting approach

  • MikePiazza3186

Wow this kid is looking like a big time bust!!

  • mets4lyfe

That at-bat by d’Anaud is an ideal example of strictly looking for a walk instead of looking to get a hit AND/or walk.

End result? Strikes out swinging at a high fastball.

    Excellent job.

  • billpulsipher

TDA looks like a keeper. sandy really outsmarted toronto

  • Chris H

We are great at something at least it’s stranding runners

  • HarveyKsYou

I’ve never seen a player swing and miss at so many 89-91 MPH fastballs right down the middle.

  • MetsfanInParadise

I thought Recker was going to be getting more playing time. Another TC flipflop

  • He has no interest in coaching.

  • KEITH

    In the real world.

  • goorru

    Travis d’Milledge

  • billpulsipher

he looked great swinging at the ball 10 feet out of the strike zone with a runner n 3rd earlier

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

    …and took a MEATBALL for strike 2.

  • No way, front office loves him.

  • MikePiazza3186

    Thor

  • billpulsipher

    yeah his name was Bay

  • $14435385

You could be talking about pretty much anyone in the lineup with that statement…

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

    david wright

  • WilponsNeed2Go

“Can’t anybody here score a run!” Stengel

  • Taskmaster4450

It is an example of giving a guy a hitting philosophy when he spent his entire career in other organizations doing it differently.

Teach this in the minors to the guys who experienced nothing else. Let the guys who had success throughout their professional careers do what they do.

  • QueensRussell

Wally Backman would not put up with this!

  • saturn

David Wright. Because Granderson just swings at low and away or low and inside pitches. Fastballs he just stares at their beauty

  • KMO82

Plawecki slowly finding his groove in AA. First HR tonight, 2-4 with 3RBI. Up to .298 for the year.

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

Nevermind his Two hits and nice at bats

  • $14435385

Boots were made for walking, so it would be appropriate for his “approach”…

  • billpulsipher

2 horrible teams going at it..the marlins have moved so far ahead of the mets and phils its not even funny…these 2 teams will be battling for 4th place with their 70-74 win teams while everyone else in the div will be over .500

  • billpulsipher

with his 4 ERA in Vegas

  • Kevin H

    Trash g’Arbage

  • Hotstreak

TdA s afraid to swing at a cookie because he can’t hit it.

  • EzRider

They could just replay his commentary in the club house and get more incite into hitting than listening to the SA/Hudgens philosophy.

  • MikePiazza3186

Darvish got a perfecto going in the 7th mlb network

  • MikePiazza3186

    Key word. Vegas!!!!

  • donobrien

If we can throw 3 no hitters a week, we might finish over 500. Maybe.

  • Hotstreak

Big mistake with Famila is 2nd inning of relief. This time he looked great Kimbrel like. I would try Mejia and Famila as setup and closer.

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

It is ok to vent and get frustrated with this team but you take it to a different level. Do you like anyone???

  • Wolfmicky21

Gotta stop with this obsession to draw a walk

  • mets4lyfe

Alderson is forcing these players to follow his approach instead allowing them to combine their own approach and Alderson’s approach.

  • mr. belvedere

Satin should be DFA’d after his performance… it’s time to start rewarding good performance and punishing poor performance… won’t make much of a difference but will put guys on notice…DFA Satin, send Tejada down and call up Campbell and Tovar… this will clear up the log jam in AA and AAA as well

  • George_Theodore

yeah, gotta just go one inning with these guys.. another collins fail

  • CJM

There’s really nothing that he could do to change things in a game like this. This is squarely on the players.

  • PessiMets

D’arnaud’s bat is super slow and we are in may wait until its July and its hot and he’s tired because he’s never experienced a full year and he will probably be even worse. I still want to wait till Memorial Day to cast my judgment in him but he looks horrendous

  • mikeyknows

    Tejada has no options left.

  • Tomthetinker

    Borrrrring

  • gameball

Hoping Vic Black can work into the mix as well.

  • MyasDaddy

Wow what a fail for Darvish.

  • MetsfanInParadise

Seaver never had more than 18 hits in a season. Hampton-20. Gooden’s 21 in ’85 ismy pick

  • WilponsNeed2Go

WOW Rios just blew a routine pop up to ruin a perfect game!

  • George_Theodore

some combination of black, familia & mejia for 7, 8, 9..

  • PessiMets

That’s like having a 4 in Colorado probably a sub 3 anywhere else

  • mets4lyfe

One of my concerns with d’Arnaud so far has been his bat speed. He hasn’t been able to get the bat head through the strike-zone fast enough. It’s surprising considering scouts used to rave about his batspeed in the minors.

  • EzRider

Yeah, because we should be afraid someone will claim him away from us.

  • Mets4ever

Was the 2nd baseman that let it drop

  • WilponsNeed2Go

    E9

  • mr. belvedere

I know but at this point who really cares, and who would claim him?

  • MyasDaddy

Wow. What a debate this makes it.

  • Hotstreak

Very true. His swing mechanics are good. It is his bat speed.

  • MetsfanInParadise

I HATE Harold Reynolds, but he’s probably right this time. No, I don’t hate him, I just think he’s a blithering idiot

  • mikeyknows

i know we dont care, but the FO does. thats the problem

  • WilponsNeed2Go

Yeah I think it should of been a hit.

  • MyasDaddy

That ball needs to be caught though.

  • Taskmaster4450

Forcing the approach is fine on the guys who are brought in after being drafted and this is all they learn in their professional baseball career. But to do it with guys who are professionals for 7 years or worse, career major league players, is asinine.

  • mets4lyfe

because Familia vs. Rollins is clearly a worse match-up than Rice vs. Rollins. Does Collins realize how awful Rice is against righties? Such an incompetent manager, jeez.

  • EzRider

And neither does the rest of MLB so the FO has no need to fear losing him. He’ll clear and remain.

  • Mets4ever

Was watching Darvish. Why did TC take out familia for Rice. Didn’t he know Rollins would turn around bat righty

  • mikeyknows

whats its going to take collins to get fired? lost 15 out of 17?

  • Kid8

By the rule book it should be a hit, but I have to agree with Mitch here – that ball HAS to be caught at the major league level.

  • George_Theodore

    Murph – Wilmer DP! 🙂

  • MyasDaddy

Ronnie, Keith and Gary didn’t know what happened in the Darvish game.

  • HarveyKsYou

    We will win this game.

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

    But they cant field!

  • Ted Danson

When double plays are turned Gary gets a b0ner.

  • SinHalo27

Flores uncorked a dart on the throw to Satin- nice DP.

  • George_Theodore

yeah, i notice no difference with Tejada, maybe an improvement

  • WilponsNeed2Go

Never touched a glove. It would have not been an Error in the 1st.

  • El_Verdadero_Presidente

I wonder how the hell you lose bat speed at his age. Hope that old back injury’s not bothering him.

  • chago

Another bomb by Jose Abreu and 2 rbi tonight

  • MikePiazza3186

    Whoo!!! Let’s get some runs!!!!

  • EzRider

Sandy moving on to a new job.

  • Wolfmicky21

    That makes two of us!

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

    Too risky!!!!!!!!

  • Wolfmicky21

    Too risky….

  • MyasDaddy

    3-

  • mets4lyfe

it depends on the context of the situation. if a player excels at hitting the ball the other way for doubles and HRs when a pitch is 3-4 inches of the outside corner, you don’t take that away from them. You build off of that ability to hit the ball the other way while making sure they don’t expand the zone too much.

From what I’ve read, Alderson’s philosophy does not permit swinging out of the strike-zone no matter what. Players, even if they excel at hitting certain pitches outside of the K-zone, will have that taken away from them through negative sanctions (the point system, remember?).

  • Mets4ever

    Too many 1st basemen

  • MyasDaddy

Boy Campbell would look good in this spot.

  • KEITH

My kingdom for a legitimate clean up hitter. Only thing that’s nowhere in this organization.

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

    Lol ruben pinch hitting

  • Mets4ever

    Pop up coming

  • Tomthetinker

    Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat

  • MetsfanInParadise

All true. They need to be able to charge an error to the team if it can’t be charged to a player. There are certain circumstances when a run is unearned against a team even when it’s charged to a pitcher, such as when pitchers are changed in the middle of an inning, and one or more errors have already occurred, it is possible to have a run charged as earned against a specific pitcher, but unearned to the team. There needs to be an analogous rule for fielding, even if it unbalances the books slightly

  • George_Theodore

Can Ruben be emergency catcher so Recker can PH?

  • LIMetfan22

    LOL PINCH HITTING RUBEN TEJADA

    fire Tc. ASAP

  • Kid8

Agreed that it never touched a glove. But if Tejada watches a ground ball go through his legs without bending over to pick it up none of us here would call it a hit whether or not it touches leather.

But yes, the rules state it has to touch the glove to be an error, so it is the wrong ruling.

  • saturn

wow i stopped watching for a min and come back for ruben the pinch hitter

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Soooooooo I didnt get to catch the game but by the boxscore I see our offense has been running on all cylinders again.(sarcasm)

    Questions:
1.How does Flores look at SS? I see he has 2singles.
2.What happened with Mejia? I see he didnt make it out of the 5th.
3.How many bone headed moves did Collins commit?
    4.Any bright spots?
5………………………I dont think I wanna hear the rest

  • Ted Danson

    You sir are correct.

  • CJM

    Tejada is good against lefties.

  • MetsfanInParadise

We have gone through the looking-glass

  • I cant see the game, can anyone tell me how Flores looked at short

  • oleosmirf

Tejada was such an easy decision here against a LHP. Can’t argue against using him there.

  • Mets4ever

    Wasn’t a difficult exam

  • CJM

Flores has been fine. Mejia had no control. No bright spots.

  • George_Theodore

Flores looked OK in the field so far..

    Familia looked good..

Collins bonehead move was just using Tejada as a PH

  • saturn

Dice K and Familia, and Satin…Satin for sure to be sent to hell

  • $14435385

You picked a good one to miss. I’d submit to a mind wipe after this game..

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

Sure you can. He is simply not good!

  • LIMetfan22

    He’s hitting .183. 0-15 (now 16). You don’t PH him there.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    Thanks Typical Mets

  • Super T

13 HRs and 37 RBIs already…..yeah, good thing we saved that $11.5M there.

  • gameball

I’m begging you Keith, stop sighing into the mic!!

  • oleosmirf

he is very good against LHP. Always has been.

  • LIMetfan22

    What? he’s 0-15.

  • mets4lyfe

Could be a possibility since back problems are degenerative and recurring.

  • Mets4ever

    Let Rice pitch to Howard

  • MetsFanSantaMonica

first game where lagares has really looked off at the plate

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Ha! Pinch hitting Tejada? Why the F#$% with anyone do that?

He was just benched because he cant hit lol

  • HarveyKsYou

    Team looks dead.

  • PessiMets

The loss on Monday against the marlins is going to be the turning point of this season, only 1 run since that game and this team looks like its dead and just playing through the motions

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

He stinks. He is an auto out and you know it.

  • MetsFanSantaMonica

ive preached patience and optimism this season so far, but this has been one of the most frustrating games to watch. Men left on base, no pacing, the offense looks as uninspired as they have all year.

  • KEITH

Kid looked good. 2 hits. Part of dp. Good start.

  • MetsfanInParadise

Except for the game last Sat. when he was 0-5 but gave them the lead in his 6th at bat.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    What about Dice-K and Familia?

    I see Dice-BB had 3BB in 1.1innings of work..
    Familia’s line looks good.
I see Satin is spitting the bit

  • MetsfanInParadise

    .318 this year

  • oleosmirf

can u give me his career numbers against LHP? and his 2014 numbers too?

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Lmao…But, Arent they ALL good ones to miss???

  • so I guess he looked like he could handle the position

  • Mets4ever

Hope he doesn’t walk. Grandy will K against lefty

  • George_Theodore

looked fine, not a ton of chances to judge him..

  • HarveyKsYou

This is typical mets.. Waste your best hitters before the ninth but don’t score.. So we have terrible bats due up in the ninth with us down.

  • El_Verdadero_Presidente

Made a nice diving stop but dropped the wet ball on the transfer, handled a few routine grounders, made a pretty good, tho late tag on a throw to the SS side of the bag, nice level slider-speed swing on two line singles to left, took an unfortunate bad hop off the pinga.

  • MyasDaddy

    TIE GAME

  • Tomthetinker

    OMGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!

  • George_Theodore

    Oh, my!

  • WilponsNeed2Go

    OH YEAH!

  • Super T

Wake up everyone, we have a Captain sighting!

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Damn stat padder!

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    JOSE ABREU!!!!

    Thanks Sandy!

  • MetsFanSantaMonica

hate to agree but I do.

  • Yes!!!! Finally Wright comes Through

  • mets4lyfe

That would’ve been out at Shea, I believe. I dislike Ebbets Field. Good job by Wright.

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

Sure i can baseball reference them but he is flat out atrocious and does not belong on a ml roster.

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

    Wright sucks. Boooo!

  • CJM

Yeah, but let’s see him do that in October. LOL Captain Clutch my azz.

  • SinHalo27

    Captain comes through!
(Guarantees Flores an AB in the 9th) 😀

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Warning track power

  • Ted Danson

    FINALLY Wright!

  • iwamofo

Can I say that was clutch or did Wright have to hit a homerun…

  • CJM

Pretty sure that’s a HR in August at Citi.

  • knicksjp07

    captain clutch!!!

  • MetsFanSantaMonica

    and just like that…

  • HarveyKsYou

    CURSED!!!

  • LIMetfan22

Wright hitting Mid-300’s so far in May.

If it’s 80 degrees out in June that’s out.

  • QueensRussell

SO unclutch, until he’s clutch. Where are the lil’ anti-Wright bitches now?

  • saturn

One of Dice K was Intentional and he struck out three. He looked impressive.

  • When the weather gets hot, those balls will be gone from Grandy

  • George_Theodore

I wasn’t even paying attention because how often does the 3 hitter get an RBI?

  • $14435385

I’m not quite at that cynical yet, but this one was particularly brutal – by both teams. They’re on the verge of setting a record for combined LOB in a 9-inning game (I think they’re at 27 now…record is 30).

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

Is this the part where we lost in the 9th?

  • Super T

And you wouldn’t be if you had to call these games?

  • Tomthetinker

    lol

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    Holy CRAP!!!!

    David Wright has a PULSE!!!

  • CJM

Where was Wright last October? Oh yeah, on the golf course because he’s unclutch.

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

Do you keep tissues next to the couch during Abreu’s at bats in case you get really excited or what?

  • LIMetfan22

A walk off win would reenergize this team, methinks.

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    Watch TC bring in Valverde

  • saturn

Yeah Bet you that felt good for david. Good for him. Seems murphy was pumped up too

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

Right here sonny boy. Where are you when he fails? I am happy he came through but lets call it like it is. He came through this time.

  • oleosmirf

How can they not intentionally walk Wright there with Granderson on deck and 2 outs. Wow, baseball 101 right there.

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

Yeah, that’s why. All because of Wright.

  • MetsFanSantaMonica

Young to lead off – abreu pinch hitting for satin, flores with a chance to win it…feeling optimistic again

  • MetsfanInParadise

or not. We still have Abreu, Duda and Recker

  • Mets4ever

Let’s win this God Damn game. Phillies suck. We need a sweep

  • Ted Danson

    Heck Yeah!

  • QueensRussell

Stats and action don’t lie,, Fool!

  • oleosmirf

so go do that and report back to me.

  • Mets4ever

    100% right

  • iAmDevlynT

The Mets weren’t playing golf last october because of Wright year.. he was AMAZING last year before he got hurt..

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

I know it hurts everytime I bring him up because it highlights how terrible your GM is

  • Taskmaster4450

    Or Farnsworth.

  • gameball

I am really surprised that ball didn’t go out—he just cranked it. I’m not complaining, but I guess at this point DW is pretty much a RH Mark Grace.

  • QueensRussell

I am always hear, Sweetie, and I always will be ’cause I’m a genuine Mets fan!

  • mets4lyfe

Wright has now pushed his OPS above .700 (.702).

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    GOD DAMIT

  • Have a shot at the all time LOB mark. LGM!

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Farnsworthy or Farnsworthless?

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

    Careful…you will get called out

  • gameball

You don’t walk the tying run to second, I don’t care who’s up.

  • MetsfanInParadise

    baby steps

  • LIMetfan22

definitely worth $15 mil a year. He really needs to pick it up.

  • Mets4ever

    Walk off win tonight. Cmon

  • Super T

We don’t have a LH to throw against Howard here?

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

Im always HERE, too… Win or lose EVERY game.

  • oleosmirf

well then enjoy blowing the lead. Wright is hitting about .300 points higher against LHP this season than Granderson.

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

Haha. Keep “beating” that drum. Just not too much. You’ll go blind I hear.

  • Terry Collins would.

  • Mets4ever

    Pinch hit Tejada for Rice

  • LIMetfan22

I don’t think anyone is Anti-Wright besides psycho #CORE members. It’s just annoying that he is the ‘golden’ boy and can do no wrong.

  • mets4lyfe

Familia now has a 3.52 ERA.

    CLOSER!

  • MetsfanInParadise

nope, but Edgin’s looked good in Vegas lately

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    He gets hurt EVERY YEAR…lol…

In the past 3years JOSE REYES and Jacoby Ellsbury whom everyone says is injury prone have both played MORE GAMES

  • QueensRussell

    Murph!

  • CJM

I’m complaining. This field freaking sucks. That ball is out in most parks, and even out of Citi on a warm summer day. Farnsworth could be pitching for the save right now.

  • gameball

I don’t think so, it would be too unorthrodox.

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Yes, he’s getting closer

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

Agreed. This is what annoys me.

  • George_Theodore

    Wilmer walk off!

  • I just don’t get why so many of you people have no faith and assume the worst! We will lose in the 12th.

  • KEITH

The shift worked. The shift worked. It’s a miracle!

  • QueensRussell

But you are such a lil’ whiner most of the time!

  • MetsfanInParadise

Since it’s the only way we can win I agree

  • CJM

The shift works most of the time. If it didn’t, teams would not use it. Duh.

  • mets4lyfe

Byrd has a .850 OPS. Well, damn.

  • Mets4ever

    What’s his ERA. In Vegas?

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

He poops Vanilla Ice cream and supplies the Mr. Softee trucks 😉

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

Lets trade Wright for byrd… Lol jk

  • LIMetfan22

He’s looked much, much better lately.

  • oleosmirf

not if you include 2014, he hasn’t…

And as much as I’d love to have Reyes still around, the guy is nowhere near the player he was when he was a Met.

    Jose has depreciated real fast.

  • gameball

Well with the luxury of hindsight it would have worked, but it’s just not done.

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

Awww. Butt hurt because I am not a Wright groupie like you. Sign the petition, Mary.

  • MetsfanInParadise

How do you think Darvish will feel about a tainted no hitter?

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Yeah shutup and enjoy these illustrious losses.

    I love watching terrible baseball

  • KEITH

    Dudas cold could prove costly.

  • mets4lyfe

Clayton Kershaw has a career 2.58 ERA.

  • WilponsNeed2Go

    no hitter*

  • The Professor

I smell a walk off! Oh wait, that’s smell is my feet.

  • CJM

Jacoby Ellsbury played 366 games from ’11-’13. Wright played 370 games. Reyes played 379 games. Your comment is only half true.

  • Tomthetinker

imagine if this game goes 15 innings

  • oleosmirf

and that’s why the Mets are back in this game…

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    So it begins

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Yeah when Collins finally started to give him playing time

  • LIMetfan22

Challenge him don’t walk him…Damn I miss Byrd

  • WilponsNeed2Go

    Whats his WHIP?

  • Hey Dave Singer, a former MMO writer….

  • LIMetfan22

    Agreed

  • $14435385

I think they might need to give Keith a valium. Or a stripper.

  • KEITH

    Roids work!

  • George_Theodore

What are they supposed to do? Change the weather?

  • mets4lyfe

What Byrd showed was true plate discipline, which is surprising since he’s not someone who exhibits great discipline.

  • Tomthetinker

never thought I would hear that.

  • Kevin H

Cold? The guy was at the hospital getting an IV.

  • Tomthetinker

    I vote stripper

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    Huge out!

  • oleosmirf

when he finally started earning playing time you mean.

Dude was terrible up until the last week or so.

  • KEITH

Duh, got s hit against the shift earlier.

  • QueensRussell

    How ’bout them Blueshirts!

  • mets4lyfe

Yu Darvish is the most exciting pitcher to watch in the Majors.

The Prince of Persia (yes, I know he’s not from Iran, but he’s half Iranian so I’ll go with it).

  • Tomthetinker

I didn’t know he was part Iranian.

  • CJM

Yes and that is not the norm.

  • oleosmirf

shocking win! gotta hope Fleury pulls a Mets and collapses again.

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

Only against the Mets. 6 walks coming into this game.

  • QueensRussell

    HEEEEEYYYYYYYYY, Da’ Farnz!

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    Wtf was that camera angle?

  • mets4lyfe

    His father is Iranian.

  • QueensRussell

    Farnzarelli!!!

  • Tomthetinker

    Interesting fun fact.

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

Flores walk off something. Lets do it!!!

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

The REAL most exciting pitcher has a message for you

    http://cdn.faniq.com/images/photos/photo_large/92/24892-7189.jpg

  • MikePiazza3186

    Let’s get this win lgm!!!

  • $14435385

It’s called situational hitting. Look for a pitch to drive; If you don’t get it, take the walk. That’s what good hitters do. The Mets go up there trying to “extend” pitchers…a great approach designed by three guys who haven’t seen a single big league pitch in their lives.

  • CJM

    1) Time machine. 2) Blue prints. 3) Pencil. 4) Cross out original dimensions. 5) Make hitter neutral dimensions.

  • LIMetfan22

He was great for us last year

  • Mets4ever

    Glad you agree

  • Tomthetinker

ALRIGHT BOYS. ITS TIME TO BELIEVE!!!!!!!!!!

  • oleosmirf

how many Asians have the last name Darvish?

  • MetsfanInParadise

Kyle is Farnsworthy of a win tonight. Flores has looked OK at SS. Wright and Grandy drove in runs. But hopefully we won’t have to settle for moral victories. LGM!

  • KEITH

My bad. Missed the pregame. I asked about it earlier. No one responded.

  • WilponsNeed2Go

    No leather = hit

  • LIMetfan22

    How many K’s?

  • Tomthetinker

    I have np with that.

  • QueensRussell

to win three in a row against pens…now that would be something!

  • MyasDaddy

DW kills the Phillies. I love it.

  • QueensRussell

    C’mon CY!

  • gameball

When I first saw the plans for the field, the first thing I thought was that they were turning it directly into the prevailing wind off the bay. Shea used to play well for lefties, now it’s tough for everyone.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    Wally Backman > Terry Collins

  • MyasDaddy

    YAY! Satin is on deck…

  • Tomthetinker

Blast this ball to the moon gett this game over

  • SinHalo27

    Time to walk off! LGM!

  • $14435385

Would be nice to see a Flores walk off hit…

  • mets4lyfe

KEEP TAKING THOSE FASTBALLS DOWN THE MIDDLE FOR STRIKES BOYS!

    THAT’S HOW YOU SCORE RUNS!

  • Kian Momeni

Young has just been taking pitches down the middle of late. Usually the last guy you would expect to do that

  • Taskmaster4450

Recker will be pitching then because Collins will long be out of pitchers.

  • Super T

Don’t know what it is about the Mets & the Jets – but neither team puts much of an emphasis on an offense.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    Homerun here by Wilmer Flores

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

Mets hitters are rarely ahead in the count. Screw Hudgens.

  • CJM

That would help explain DW’s drop in power being that he used to hit for power the other way often.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    Hudgens mustve got to him

  • LIMetfan22

LOL I hate Hudgens more than TC.

  • LIMetfan22

    He’s infected.

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    lets not get carried away

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

    It is ridiculous!

  • oleosmirf

    3 BB and 5 K.

He’s walked a surprising amount of batters so far though.

  • KEITH

We need this freakin record. Plus a win! LGM!

  • Tomthetinker

    praying to the baseball gods

  • CJM

Harvey is on the sidelines if you haven’t noticed. LMFAO

  • QueensRussell

    Moonshot there!

  • Tomthetinker

    I guess they aint listening.

  • goorru

    Oh CY

  • El_Verdadero_Presidente

CY looking ill up there lately.

  • MikePiazza3186

    Cy is so bad

  • Kevin H

Sorry. Thought you were bashing him. He has some sort of stomach virus. Must have been pretty bad if he needed an IV.

  • Setting up for a Wilmer Walkoff.

  • mets4lyfe

    Mets philosophy

    – Don’t swing at fastballs down the middle
    – Swing at high fastballs that are way above the belt when you have 2 strikes

  • MikePiazza3186

    Satin bomb

  • KEITH

Can anyone on this team break a bat like Chilli Davis?

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

    Nope!

  • QueensRussell

    Keith is losing it

  • Tomthetinker

    lol. Happens

  • QueensRussell

Mets have some terrific pop up swings

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

How do you earn playing time when you werent given a chance to earn it smh

  • Tomthetinker

    I cant take it

  • QueensRussell

Eyebrows has perfected that crappy swing!

  • MikePiazza3186

    Satin dfa tomorrow

  • HarveyKsYou

    What a useless player.

  • $14435385

    Someone please shoot this game.

  • tacknaf

never thought anyone would make me miss Duda

  • SinHalo27

Great value for the ticket holders- one low price- 4+ hours!

End this one Wil Flo! XD

  • CJM

Satin really should be sent down right after this game. He has shown nothing.

  • LIMetfan22

I can feel it. Mets will lose this game. It’s only too Metsian.

  • Kian Momeni

home run! how bout that power from Satin!

  • QueensRussell

5 Hrs in Vegas. WHat’s that they say about what happens in Vegas?

  • $14435385

  • Tomthetinker

    hahhaaha..I wish it wasn’t true.

  • LIMetfan22

    Wow. Love Gee.

  • tacknaf

is flores standing closer to the plate than last year?

  • QueensRussell

This ump has an insane strike zone!

  • SinHalo27

Keith is itching to leave. I hear his car keys jingling!

  • MyasDaddy

    That’s a HR in Vegas

  • LIMetfan22

Why can every team besides the Mets hit bombs at Citi Field?

  • Tomthetinker

    yay!! more exciting Mets baseball.

  • El_Verdadero_Presidente

No long balls in Wilmer’s cut.

  • QueensRussell

Yeah, well that would have been outta here in Vegas!

  • Tomthetinker

    We were spoiled by reyes.

  • Hotstreak

Wilmer you are a keeper. Welcome back.

  • tacknaf

    LOL Papi broke it up

  • MetsfanInParadise

Big Papi with the 2-out hit

  • mets4lyfe

You don’t see him as a 20-HR hitter?

  • LIMetfan22

    Of course Papi

  • $14435385

How are 30,000 people still paying for tickets to see this team?

  • Mets4ever

No hitter broken up. 2 outs top of 9th

  • Kid8

Papi’s revenge for not being given a hit in his last at bat.

  • mets4lyfe

    Papa Gasoline is here

(sorry, these Jose Valverde nicknames are hilarious)

  • Tomthetinker

    wow

  • CJM

Hahaha on a groundball through the shift no less. Man that’s tough. That’s the second no-no Darvish has lost after 8.2.

  • WilponsNeed2Go

And the baseball gods get their revenge! No leather = no error

  • mets4lyfe

I’ve seen that before, Ron. People are in the bathroom charging their cellphones. it’s funny.

Papa Grande has a racoon sticking out the back of his cap

  • $14435385

  • El_Verdadero_Presidente

Right now, with that cut? No way. Eventually, if he learns to turn on the ball…could happen. Just maybe.

  • oleosmirf

Valverde’s numbers really aren’t that bad.

  • CJM

What a grab by Flores there!

    Platinum Glove Wilmer Flores

Wilmer Flores Defense > Anderlton Simmons defense

    FACTS!

  • still been a great pickup for my fantasy team….for ryan braun..

  • Tom Seaver just rolled in his bed.

  • If Tejada starts tomorrow, I’m done.

  • ArchieBellandTheDrells

no you’re not. you’ll be back here like all of us whining about tejada starting.

  • Ted Danson

He wont. Collins gonna see what Flores can do.

  • Waz0787

Common bro. More like flores > jeter in his prime

  • QueensRussell

C’mon Crazy Val, finish ’em off!

  • CJM

How many strikeouts will Tanaka get against the Mets? I think we’ve got a legitimate chance of seeing 20Ks by Tanaka.

  • Hotstreak

That ball on replay shows it should have been creamed Daddy did not teach son..

  • MetsfanInParadise

    It’s only 8pm in Cali

  • $14435385

    and Jimmy Qualls just chuckled.

  • Waz0787

I use to believe in hope but mets destroyed the meaning for me.

  • gameball

    Yeah, didn’t hurt Piazza either.

  • Kevin H

LOL. If Tejada pinch hits again tomorrow I’m done.

  • QueensRussell

    JVAL rocks it!

Are we winnin’ now or what?

  • You are probably right, Mr. Jones.

  • tacknaf

come on let’s get a damn run here

  • mets4lyfe

I have to see a bit more of him. I’ve read that Flores started turning on the inside pitch back in 2012 that enabled him to hit for more power. I could see him as a 15-18 HR hitter right now.

  • LIMetfan22

    tda walk off bomb

  • MetsfanInParadise

MLB network revisited our no-no briefly in talking about Yu but also talked about Dickey’s 1-hitter in 2012 where Wright tried to barehand a ball in the 1st and they ruled it a hit. It wasn’t as interesting as it appeared to be. And Harold Reynolds won’t shut up. I really wanna punch him.

  • mets4lyfe

    over 9000

  • MyasDaddy

You call him Dr. Jones, Doll!

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Donald Sterling > Fred & Jeff Wilpon

  • Tomthetinker

    elaborate please.

  • $14435385

    one MILLION strikeouts…

  • Hotstreak

Not a ridiculous statement . It has validity.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

GM Jerry Jones > GM Sandy Alderson

  • KEITH

This has to be a win tonight. Philly is horrible. Right?

  • Waz0787

He put out a winning team on the court.

  • oleosmirf

    Valverde has been good lately.

  • LIMetfan22

    One would assume so

  • El_Verdadero_Presidente

Sterling may be easier on the eyes than Jeff.

  • WilponsNeed2Go

    “Its 11:27….Wonderful!” -Keith

  • Hotstreak

He got away with one to Gwyn.

  • KEITH

Right about now, Keith wants to kill someone.

  • MetsfanInParadise

They’re just about as bad as we are. But they’re 10 years older and their roster costs about $100 million more

  • oleosmirf

    he really is obnoxious sometimes.

  • mets4lyfe

mets hitters swing at more balls than strikes. Isn’t Sandy’s approach supposed to be the other way around?

  • tacknaf

    why not Abreu here?

  • Rally caps!!

  • WilponsNeed2Go

Someone better get Duda from the hospital, we may need him.

  • LIMetfan22

Marlins would have hit 3 walk off home runs by now

  • MetsfanInParadise

    He’s in the dugout

  • Ted Danson

Hes worried bout that traffic getting home.

  • KMO82

Juan is going to end this.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

So you mean to tell me that Jordany Valdespin couldnt help this team. This game would be over if he was here. Best PH of all time 😉

THE MAN RIGHT NOW AND 4EVER

  • LIMetfan22

    What traffic lol

  • goorru

Didn’t Roger McDowell invent the rally cap?

  • gameball

    . . . heaving.

  • mets4lyfe

He gets too unprofessional at times and it’s really annoying. If he doesn’t enjoy watching the game of baseball and broadcasting, he can leave.

  • Tomthetinker

    I love keith

  • George_Theodore

he’s going to double switch Recker.. my guess

  • Lagares is due though I’m quite concerned that his drop is somewhat inevitable given many signs. I’ll take him as a .270 hitter with his defense.

  • donobrien

Lagares and Murphy. Back to back doubles.

  • QueensRussell

    Legendary pop ups!

  • CJM

Wow rally caps on the bench? SMDH. The culture of this team is so JUVENILE. They’re worse than a damn little league team. They’ll never win with this kind of BS. Fire Sandy, fire Terry, fire the players, and most of all, fire the “captain” David WRONG!

  • MetsfanInParadise

    because of the game

  • Kevin H

Duda hitting barefoot, in a hospital gown, with an IV still attached is better than Josh Satin.

  • Tomthetinker

thats a bunch of crap sir.

  • Hangover has passed.

  • MyasDaddy

    hahahaahahahaha

  • QueensRussell

    you’re complaining about rally caps!!

  • oleosmirf

He’s suspended again I believe too

  • Ted Danson

lol he was moaning about construction on lie earlier.

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Got mine on

  • mets4lyfe

    ‘fire terry’

    I second that

  • WilponsNeed2Go

Well just put a bat in his hand and send him out. He will still probably hit better than Tejada.

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

    Mastersarcasmatworkagain

Wrap it around the foul pole!!!

  • WilponsNeed2Go

    Duda puking > Tejada

  • oleosmirf

    Lagares really hates ball 4.

  • Tomthetinker

who complains about rally caps? geez

  • MyasDaddy

I really didn’t want to, but I might take a couple more whackers to keep me awake.

  • QueensRussell

    Got the bloop!

  • CJM

    Juan should steal second here.

  • MetsfanInParadise

Bang it off the wall Murph

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

Hit ’em where they ain’t – Wee Willie Keeler

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Lagares is so clutch…..EYjr would of K’d or hit a weak grounder to 1B

  • goorru

    Murph the walk machine

  • QueensRussell

    C’mon Murphster!

  • A nice walk off win for the 5000 remaining fans. Let’s do it!!

  • mets4lyfe

    Murphy is Barry Bonds

  • oleosmirf

This is where your leadoff hitter needs to steal a base.

  • Hotstreak

    Best two out RBI up.

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

    You mean 50 fans…

  • mets4lyfe

    you mean 5…

  • El_Verdadero_Presidente

Those bathrooms must hold a lotta ppl.

  • $14435385

Much harder with a lefty and Ruiz behind the plate.

  • QueensRussell

    Not pop up cuts.

  • mets4lyfe

Murphy trying to hit a HR lol

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Mets and Phillies suck combined they have left 27 mean on base

  • CJM

Murphy closes his eyes when he swings way too often.

  • I’m including the TV audience.

  • Mets4ever

    Ball 4

  • QueensRussell

    Ugh!

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Damn Murph looked like David Wright that at bat

  • mets4lyfe

Well, Murphy, that’s why you’re not a HR hitter.

    Keep them singles comin’, baby!

  • Ted Danson

    Murph trying to end it.

  • CJM

Glad Murphy is such a confident free swinger! Walking’s for sissies!

  • Waz0787

Drykstra and Lutz must be an improvement over duda and Satin.

  • QueensRussell

He’s actually one of the best doubles hitters in MLB. Have you heard?

  • LIMetfan22

    JESUSSSSSSSS

  • Waz0787

    Alderson is probably mad.

  • Lamest thing ever…

    http://metsblog.com/metsblog/jose-reyes-and-justin-turner-do-the-spotlight/

It’s called “The Spotlight,” not, “The Claw,” according to recent interviews by Reyes and Turner, and based on what SNY’s Kevin Burkhardt told me this morning on text. From what I can gather, it’s based on The Claw done by the Rangers, which is based on a tradition started in the Dominican Winter Leagues, where a lot of Jose’s friends play in the off season. Reyes re-defined it as “The Spotlight,” because, well, he’s an awesome performer, i.e., he’d slide in to third off a triple, and shine the light on himself, which is awesome. I love it. That’s hilariously great.

  • CJM

Are you not mad that he went out of the zone and struck out? That was a disgusting at-bat.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Duda is kind of a you know………….sissy

His walking with men on base last year led to so pretty ugly stats lol

  • mets4lyfe

Murphy hits a lot of doubles down the line that get past the 1B or 3B which isn’t a true sign of power. He’s not someone who drives the ball very often.

  • Mets4ever

    No walks!!!

  • Super T

You need to quit spending so much time over there, lol.

  • LIMetfan22

I’ve been struggling to tell the sarcasm from non-sarcasm with you and idk why.

  • QueensRussell

Ridiculous: he hits loads of gappers.

  • Ted Danson

    Gotta keep your enemies close.

  • metsfan130

I didn’t see him drive in any clutch RBI double.

  • George_Theodore

I think I saw Lagrares do it last year

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Crap carlos Torres is in the game. He’s gonna blow this game

  • Waz0787

Mets stopped caring long time ago. There is no energy in their play.

  • Ted Danson

Who keeps on yawning in the booth?

  • CJM

I’m serious when I say that was a terrible at-bat. Murphy’s over aggressive in pretty much all parts of his game. This is an instance when his over aggressiveness came back to burn him.

  • WilponsNeed2Go

If the Mets run out of pitchers, they should let Ronny pitch for old times sake!

  • Kid8

They’re gonna be really confused when that “article” gets its first comment three years later.

  • ArchieBellandTheDrells

Darling says “Wouldn’t be surprised if a position player is pitching in this game”
    Keith “ohhhhhhhh”

  • Tomthetinker

    me.

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

His arm will fall off before that.

  • Super T

Guess, we now know whose been driving up their web hits over there.

  • LOL we were talking about rally caps and if the Mets invented them, and then I remembered this stupid thing.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Collins is going to use EVERY pitcher in his pen tonight watch.

Youd think the idiot would of put in a man and at least let him get 2 innings instead of eating away at the whole damn pen

  • KMO82

Keith has been sighing a lot this game lol.

  • mets4lyfe

    He’ll hit a handful.

Murphy doesn’t have much power, that’s the point. He’s mostly a singles and doubles down-the-line type of hitter.

  • Waz0787

Philadelphia please win the game. Mets did their best to lose tonight.

  • LOL

  • LIMetfan22

This game is all on the offense if we lose. Absolutely unacceptable performance against a STRUGGLING Phillies team. Too many men LOB.

Heads really need to start rolling for performances like these.

  • KMO82

You know Byrd is going to get us here.

  • MetsfanInParadise

    I appreciated that too

  • $14435385

Both teams have been awful – it’s a shame either has to win.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Great job Collins walk the Phillies coldest hitter to get to their hottest!

    What a friggin genius

  • CJM

7! commas in that last sentence. 7! It’s a shame he’s too full of himself to sign up for a community college rhetoric course.

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

Keith sighing like a fiend. You can tell these guys have had it with this crap team.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    Marlon Pigeon

  • mets4lyfe

Can the Mets trade for Mitch Moreland and use him as the primary left-handed reliever? He throws a 93-95 mph 4-seamer and a cutter around 90-mph.

  • $14435385

He had their longest HR of last year and may have their longest of this year. He’s stronger than you think.

  • WilponsNeed2Go

    That was strike three!

  • Waz0787

Ugh. True mets lose by default because we’re the home team. One of them will finish last in nl east.

  • LIMetfan22

    unbelieveable

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

    Game over

  • KMO82

    Knew it.

  • Ted Danson

    Oh Well.

  • Tomthetinker

I thought it was strike 4

  • CJM

    Well f*ck this game.

  • MikePiazza3186

    Ump just cost us

  • Plus! From what I can gather, he said “from what I can gather.”

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Like I said earlier Torres will blow this game this inning. And Collins is a fool to walk Howard to pitch to Byrd.

  • QueensRussell

Sorry, pitch was outside, but he is an inconsistent HP umpire

  • HarveyKsYou

Torres is starting to suck. And this bullpen is still ass.

  • LIMetfan22

of course dinky little hit goes against the mets. crazy snake bitten

  • Waz0787

    This will end soon

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

It was off the plate. Ass bag offense cost this team.

  • MyasDaddy

    Goodnight everyone

  • MikePiazza3186

I would have pitched to Howard

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Why is he walking DOM BROWN dude is hitting around the damn Mendoza line

  • Kian Momeni

that pitch strikes out the batter 9 times out of 10…

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    16-18…

  • Waz0787

If we lose tonight are we dead last in our division?

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    Torres has sucked badly recently

  • El_Verdadero_Presidente

I’ve got to watch this stupid thing to the bitter end so I can hate myself more completely tomorrow.

  • iwamofo

    I feel you keith hernandez

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    THE METS SUCK!!!!!

    THANKS SANDY!!!!!

  • No need to give up on Duda yet.

  • QueensRussell

Ruiz kills us. I understand righty-righty, but this one is stupid.

  • Kid8

L, ol, i.e.; that is humorous.

  • ArchieBellandTheDrells

being a mets fan makes you a sadist

  • Taskmaster4450

Torres with his righty righty matchups….just stupid.

  • Waz0787

He is human being bro.. TC killed his arm

  • Taskmaster4450

    Most of Colllins moves do.

  • That’s the spirit! Drink up too… cheers!

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

We will be tied for LAST PLACE after this game.

    THANKS SANDY!!!!

  • QueensRussell

You and me, both. I’m afraid that’s what it means to be a fan!

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

Tied with Phils for last place…

  • Mets4ever

Whether you like or dislike Collins ( I dislike) you have to admit his moves usually back fire. Time for a change

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    HR Ruiz

  • That’s what it is to be a Met fan, in a nutshell.

  • HarveyKsYou

dont worry we’ll tie it, go into the20th, but still loose.

  • QueensRussell

Gamble paid off. I guess Torres is in RUiz’ head.

  • KEITH

Meat of the order coming up. Oh, the Mets don’t have a meat of the order.

  • Waz0787

    Lexapro baby 🙂

  • People like him?

  • Chris H

Mets will come from behind and walk off with a win. Yeeeeeaaaaahhh Riiiggghhhhhhhht

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

uh oh another Lefty hitter and we cant have a righty pitch to a lefty.

    We should walk him.

    Terry-ble Collins Logic

  • KMO82

Lol, Keith wants to go home in the worst way lol.

  • Mets4ever

Well we know the FO does. I guess some fans do as well

  • Metropolitan

Wow can’t even beat the hapless Phillies..Again I predicted this folks Mets Phillies the battle for the basement

  • QueensRussell

Okay, let’s just tie it, so we can stay up even later!

  • Ted Danson

    Going for the self KO

  • MattHarvey’sEgo

    Haha yup sighed again.

  • Hotstreak

Fred Wilpon and Sandy Koufax. SA really did not hire him.

  • Chris H

Yeah I want position players pitching haha

  • mets4lyfe

    I’ve become apathetic.

I’ll get excited if they ever reach 8+ games over .500, which probably won’t happen until maybe 2020.

  • Metropolitan

this can’t be a pace for 90 wins..

  • Waz0787

It can’t be that hard to score runs. Can’t it?

  • Metropolitan

his worst nightmare will be if the Mets just manage to tie it up

  • Hotstreak

Wright has to get on or win it. This is real clutch time.

  • Bail4Nails

A Walk-off Win would be a big boost for the Mets right now.

  • Tomthetinker

    Back to Back then bed!

  • MikePiazza3186

    http://youtu.be/nfa9XetyzIE

What it’s like being a mets fan lol

  • mets4lyfe

The main reason why Alderson was upset about the ’90-win’ comment wasn’t because it left closed doors. it’s because people started laughing at him that he actually believed this team can potentially win 90 games. Obviously crazy things can happen in baseball, but a team with this many holes would be lucky to win 84 games.

  • Waz0787

Lexapro did it for me. It doesn’t matter if mets or lose. They did their best thats all it matters

  • Kevin H

Did they break the all time runners LOB record yet?

  • QueensRussell

Despise that Papelbon. Love to kick his ass now!

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Ever since Alderson has taken over this team the hitting has been EXTREMELY BAD.

This team cannot hit. Its obvious this philosophy is a failure.

    FML

  • Waz0787

    90 loses? Most probably

  • mets4lyfe

Did papelbon just throw a sinker? wow

  • Metropolitan

so what did flores do tonight?

  • Well, Collins and Wright won’t be able to say, “Give the Marlins and Rockies credit and tip your hat to them, we went up against two red hot teams.”

  • Waz0787

David Wright strike out. I called it.

  • ColoradoMetsFan

Where’s Omir Santos when we need him?

  • Tomthetinker

    2 for 5

  • Mex_17

A 4 hour 40 minute game between two last places team, and featuring 32 left on base.

Come on, all you “true New Yorkers”, give this team a chance!!!

  • Waz0787

7 more years. Get used to him striking out when mets need something. At least he swung this time. Its an improvement

  • QueensRussell

We know you secretly yank off to your Yankoff Jeter poster!

  • WilponsNeed2Go

    2 for 4 1 RBI 2 BB

  • HarveyKsYou

Positives out of this: Granderson no longer looks lost up there. Wright got a big hit. Negatives: everything else.

  • KEITH

If Wright made contact, that ball would have traveled 300 ft.

  • MetsfanInParadise

Jose Fernandez gave up 5 runs FACT

  • HarveyKsYou

    Good.

  • MikePiazza3186

    This is a sad offense

  • MetsfanInParadise

    And “Hudgy” Bear

  • Bail4Nails

You forgot Hudgens. Is Exile still a thing?

  • Tomthetinker

    lmao

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    We’re in Last place

  • MikePiazza3186

Yea seems to happen every year

  • Kevin H

She clearly did not watch the game. Otherwise she would feel bad for you…or be laughing at you.

  • Flores had a couple of hits so he’s almost got more than Tejada already.

  • KennyandtheMets

This is not the game to get on DW. He was on base 4 times and drove in a big run with a double. The real goat tonight is Satin. He seems to stand in the battery’s box with an actual toothpick in his hands.

  • chago

OK time to think of a new excuse for losing .

    The :

    “We ran into hot teams”

    Can’t be applied .

How about we just stink ?

  • derek murphy

Nice 0-5 for satin. Maybe I am a hater n maybe its a small sample size but how would we not be batter off with Campbell. Satin 2 n 3 w 0 outs n ha can’t get a run in. When things are going bad they really go bad.

  • Mets4ever

You are correct. Can’t believe I left him out

  • Mex_17

Our “best” hitter and face of the franchise hits an RBI double against a last place team in May, in a losing effort, and it qualifies as a “big hit”. lol. I guess the bar has been set pretty low.

  • Tomthetinker

Joe D. you should write an open letter to the Wilpons.

  • 2rings

Bobby O RIPPING apart the Mets on the post game

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Remember when everyone was Giddy when we were over .500 and all the 90Win chatter. And the Sandy Alderson praise about how we should enjoy being over .500 and not be debbie downers???

Well we’re in LAST PLACE ladies and gents……The bottom of the dogpile

  • MikePiazza3186

    With title FU!!!!

  • 2rings

we would be better playing a man short, then Satin

  • mets4lyfe

Plain and simple, The Mets are one of the worst hitting teams in the Majors. It is what it is. At least us Mets fans can watch Flores develop at the Majors.

  • Waz0787

So we have hit rock bottom. I doubt this team ever leaves, last place in our division. They look like they don’t care

  • MetsfanInParadise

No, a petition. We can all sign as well as frequenters of other blogs. I said that as soon as the “loyalty oath” came out.

  • KennyandtheMets

I’m so glad our FO isn’t concerned about our lack of offense. I mean, we don’t want them to panic. They might actually bring in a real hitter.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

And have everyone on MMO put there virtual signatures to it 😉

  • Tomthetinker

    works for me.

  • 2rings

after year after year after year

  • MetsfanInParadise

You’re actually in very good company

  • Yeah, that surprised me too. I was going to rewind to be sure.

  • Mex_17

I think technically we’re one of the worst teams, period. I mean, we’re in last place in our division. Florida and Philly are better. Good thing Houston is around.

  • You know, I really enjoy your posts here, BBLB, and share a lot of your frustrations…but I really think that picking Wright apart almost at-bat by at-bat gets in the way of what’s REALLY wrong with the team. On a night when he has a single, a double, two walks, and drives in a run, I don’t think he’s the one to focus on.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Cant wait til the NFL season starts.

  • Tomthetinker

Hope your not a Jets fan.

  • ColoradoMetsFan

    The relationship…with the Mets…

  • mets4lyfe

Oh, Sandy and Co. are well aware of the shortcomings of the offense. They just never publicly admit anything significantly wrong with the team because they’re the ones responsible for it.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    Hell no…G-men all the way.

    My only winning team

  • Bail4Nails

Bobby O has ordered The Soup. Excellent choice!

  • mets4lyfe

The Mets will most likely end up being one of the worst teams in the Majors, but they’ve just been really mediocre for now.

  • CJM

ColoradoMetsFan knew exactly where I was going with it haha.

  • WilponsNeed2Go

Satin, having shattered the Mendoza line, is heading straight to the Throneberry Triangle.

  • CJM

Wow you knew exactly what I planned to say. Nice work.

  • KennyandtheMets

Are we still a playoff team? Boy, that didn’t last long, did it?

  • ColoradoMetsFan

Hits are better than strikeouts…or are they?

  • Hotstreak

Wright Grandy and TdA Colon and CY too. SA plan to rebuild. It’s like building a sand(y) castle on the beach during the storm named you guessed it Sandy.

  • Tomthetinker

I wonder if fred and jeff actually even care.

  • CJM

Yes they are still a playoff team.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Fred and Jeff were busy tonight watching the Yankees game lol

  • billpulsipher

this team is horrible. last place

  • chago

In all of MLB there are only 6 teams with a worse record than us

  • Metropolitan

mets need guys who hit some home runs and doubles..not a singles hitter

  • KennyandtheMets

My girlfriend is upstairs watching 24 on DVR. She knows I’m an addict and lets me waste my time with this pathetic team.

  • Tomthetinker

So we went to 4th best record to 7th worst in a matter of a week. I think I just puked in my mouth.

  • MetsfanInParadise

He’s already got him beat. Marvelous Marv never hit below .143.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

LoL….Youre delusional if you think the Wilpons give a sh** what you fans do.

I remember the fan campaign to resign Jose Reyes…Welp! guess what? They didnt even offer him a dollar lol

  • MetsfanInParadise

Oh well, the grousing gets a bit repetitive after awhile. We all know what, or who, the problems are. Pound that Budweiser and get ’em tomorrow (Ball Four).

  • Waz0787

Is it okay to say mets suck and I predict we will get swept by the phillies. As usual by mid June our baseball season. Is officially over.

  • mets4lyfe

they were watching the Dodgers game on MLB.tv

  • KennyandtheMets

Why? Because he criticizes the team? I guess he isn’t a “true fan”.

  • billpulsipher

BOYCOTT. its the only solution. when you are in an abusive relationship, you have two choices. Keep getting abused or get the hell out…its time to get out..let fred and jeff rot in their misery

  • ArchieBellandTheDrells

    alright…see ya here tomorrow

  • Guest

i can come on here..doesnt mean i have to waste time watchin these clowns or going to the games..keep suporting fred and jeff

  • Tomthetinker

lol..Like somebody said we sholuld get together a petition threatening an active boycot by all signers.

  • ColoradoMetsFan

If it weren’t for moral victories, we wouldn’t have no victories at all…

  • $14435385

They never admit anything is wrong because it doesn’t matter…the only thing that matters to the Wilpons is the Wilpons. The Mets winning was never the goal – keeping the team is the goal.

  • SinHalo27

TC please shut up already. This guy has no business anywhere MLB unless he buys a ticket!

  • WilponsNeed2Go

Well I guess Sub 100 BA is the Satin line.

  • mets4lyfe

At what point can we expect a Clayton Kershaw statue at Citi Field?

  • so, does mejia get another start?

  • billpulsipher

i wish. it would never happen because there are still sandy lovers and the ultimate diehards who accept losing…if the yankees or red sox did this to their fans, their fans would have boycotted and burned their stadiums down..met fans just accept losing, much liek cubs fans

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    Jose Abreu

    3 for 4 tonight w/1Homer, 2Runs, 2RBIs

    Thanks Sandy

  • Hotstreak

    Why is no one accountable?

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    lol

  • ed charles

The season doesn’t have to be over, but how long can this bush league FO stick with a perennial loser and leaderless manager? This guy makes D’Antoni look like a genius. It doesn’t matter if he’s been given a terrible team. You can’t turn the roster over. TC has to go. You hate Backman? Fine, turn the team over to the other vanilla 3rd Base coach TT. And every single guy who’s hitting at Vegas should be brought up. Eventually, SA will HAVE to give the job to Backman.

  • Guest

    Satin lookin great

  • billpulsipher

in 2 weeks when he pitches a shutout there

  • Tomthetinker

I say let the kid ride it out a 3 or 4 more starts. I really like watching him and the mets suck anyways.

  • billpulsipher

it doesnt have to be over….but it is over my friend..its over and done with

  • ed charles

I am talking about shooting for .500 and not having to dig yourself out of deep dark hole for 2015.

  • MetsfanInParadise

He has something named after him! Just like Cy Young! NOT

  • $14435385

All they care about is keeping the team. Winning is fourth or fifth on their priority list.

  • Bail4Nails

Terry telling the press how good Hernandez was tonight. Hahaha.
I worry for the Population of New York City that 30,000 people actually paid to go to the Met game tonight. These people probably Drive and Vote.

  • HarveyKsYou

The glut of first basemen have looked good. Ike and Satin have been terrible. Ike counts because he was in that glut and even got traded and still sucks.

  • billpulsipher

because you have 2 pigs as owners and a moron as GM

  • MetsfanInParadise

And it’s nothing but a coincidence that every pitcher just happens to be good the night he faces us

  • KennyandtheMets

    Excuse me?!

  • $14435385

Sadly, I don’t think they’ve hit rock bottom yet.

  • Tomthetinker

    Hernandez was awful!

  • HarveyKsYou

He gets two more max. He should go to the bullpen and call up deGrom and let him start.

  • billpulsipher

manhattan mets fan “Abreu wasnt the right option” LOL

  • ed charles

When does David Wright explode? Ever?????

  • Tomthetinker

    Time will tell.

  • MetsfanInParadise

I really wish I could see those postgame pressers

  • KEITH

Lucas Duda. Catching up on some zzzzzzzs. Whose better than him?

  • mets4lyfe

D’Antoni is actually a very good offensive coach when you surround him with the right personnal. Collins, on the other hand, is terrible regardless of what situation you put him in.

Teams managed by Collins have all under-performed whether it’s the Mets , Astros, or Angels.

  • Tomthetinker

When he sits on the toilet.

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Ask Molly

  • HarveyKsYou

    More like sleezebags.

  • billpulsipher

.wait til next week when the Yankees come in here to take out the trash. they will be lucky to win 1 game

  • KennyandtheMets

You tell ME I have no credibility?

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    I appreciate that Joe,

But I just couldnt help myself that time….Im an in the moment kind of guy. He’s our best player and he looked very bad that at bat. And it was crunch time, he couldve been 4 for 4 wiith 4 grandslams before that at bat.We were down and he looked bad is all I could think of how bad an inferior Papelbon made him look

  • HarveyKsYou

    Pause.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

I didnt get on DW’s game tonight. Read what I wrote again I specified that AT BAT.

  • billpulsipher

you saw tonight the 2 bottom feeders of the NL East. both teams are horrible 90 loss caliber

  • mets4lyfe

“Terry telling the press how good Hernandez was tonight.”

He’s just trying to bail out the hitters for their offensive futility.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

And what does that have to do with that at bat???

You are aware that I said THAT AT BAT???

  • mets4lyfe

Trust me, you don’t. Save yourself from throwing inanimate objects at the TV.

  • HarveyKsYou

With it being Jeters last year and the Yankees having all stars back on the field (remember during last years Subway Series they had a lineup full of nobodies) Citi Field will probably be sold out and 75 percent Yankee fans:(.

  • MetsfanInParadise

    You may be right.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Yeah righty when all else fail go to making up jokes about the gays.

  • Name

Ok. The Mets had every opportunity to score more than two runs AND FAILED! Something needs to be done about this lineup. I don’t know if it’s pure mismanagment (Satin is below Mendoza and hitting before d’Armoad and a prospect considered to an RBI machine), awful hitting philosophy (Dave Huggins isn’t working), or lack of player quality (I think this is the least of the issues. Most of these players have decent track records). All I know is that any person in charge of these hitters should be fired. This is insane.

  • HarveyKsYou

At least Fernandez got pounded. Don’t want him being better than Harvey, though, sadly, he is.

  • mets4lyfe

Fernandez is better than Harvey whether we like it or not. I knew he was as good, if not better, than Harvey after his first 5 starts last year. He is THAT good, Kershaw good.

  • Hotstreak

Guess we are in contention for a lottery pick.

  • KennyandtheMets

I know you were talking about that at bat. However, it isn’t really fair to criticize a guy for ONE bad at bat when he had a very good night.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown
  • KEITH

Mets pitchers can throw a no hitter and still lose. Hello, its not the starters. This offense blows. Keep the kids in the minors. Kids should not be subjected to this garbage.

  • Tomthetinker

Harvey had an 2.27 era and 190+ K’s. That really as good as it gets for a pitcher in his 1st full year. Time will tell who is better.

  • El_Verdadero_Presidente

What inanimate? My dog went through the flatscreen half an hour ago.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    LMFAO!!!!

They are both extremely good. Harvey was a front runner for the CY Young last year in technically his 1st season

  • Bail4Nails

I can’t remember a time when an Offense was this bad, and the Hitting Coach wasn’t fired.
Sabremetrics might have worked well for Oakland, but it does not work for the Mets. Get rid of this stupid “Philosophy” Coach, so our players have no more excuses. Either they are good Hitters or not. We don’t need Gigabytes of Data here. Pick up the wooden stick, get it off your shoulder, and let’s see what you got. If not, bring up every 51 until we find someone who can Hit.

  • Hotstreak

You never get Sandy Lovers to sign it. Where are you guys. Why not blast us for criticizing DW, SA TdA and so on. Yes Niese, Gee and Murphy suck. Harvey sucks too Fernandez is better even when pounded. Flores only got two hits and not an extra base hit. He sucks too. Mejia pitched the same as Wheeler but Omar sucks and SA walks on water. What a sham. SA lovers you guy are the trolls and not real Met fans. Oh Jose Aberu is a bum.

  • mets4lyfe

Fernandez was better than Harvey last year. While Harvey was cooling off down the stretch, Fernandez kept on getting better.

    Fernandez –
    April 4.50 ERA
    May 3.18 ERA
    June 1.67 ERA
    July 2.06 ERA
    August 1.15 ERA
    September 0.64 ERA

Reward good play and punish bad play…DFA Satin and Tejada, promote Campbell and Tovar…none of those moves will mean much but we may catch lightening in bottle with Soup and Tovar is hitting better than Tejada and MUCH better defensively…those moves will be more to put everyone on notice that they need to earn their jobs to stay in NY…TDA should be put on notice immediately afterwards because Teagarden is crushing the ball in Vegas

You misunderstand, naturally. Not anti-gay, just anti-you. You’re the type who’s never quite understood the fact that .300 hitters fail 70% of the time.
