MMO Game Thread: Mets vs Rockies, 8:40 PM (SNY)

bartolo colon

The Mets will open a four-game series against the Rockies on Thursday night in Denver. Bartolo Colon (2-3, 4.50 ERA) opens the series for the Mets and will be opposed by Juan Nicasio (2-1, 5.27) for the Rockies in an 8:40 PM matchup.

Colon won his last start against the Cardinals at Citi Field, tossing 7.0 innings, allowing four hits and one run while striking out eight and walking none. He has tossed at least 6.0 innings in 28 of his 35 starts dating to his first start of last season, allowing two runs or fewer 22 times.

Juan Lagares is expected to be activated from the disabled list for the series opener after doubling and scoring a run in a pinch hitting appearance for Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday night. Terry Collins said he would begin employing a four-man rotation in the outfield.

Lagares told the Daily News that he doesn’t mind being part of a rotation with Curtis Granderson, Chris Young and Eric Young Jr., even if it means not playing every day.

Kirk Nieuwenhuis has been optioned back to Triple-A Las Vegas to clear the roster spot for Lagares.

Starting Lineup

  1. Juan Lagares, cf
  2. Daniel Murphy, 2b
  3. David Wright, 3b
  4. Lucas Duda, 1b
  5. Chris Young, lf
  6. Curtis Granderson, rf
  7. Travis d’Arnaud, c
  8. Ruben Tejada, ss
  9. Bartolo Colon, rhp

Game Preview

The Mets escaped the rain last night with a postponed game and accomplished the rare one game sweep of the Phillies. Anyway, the Mets head off to the Mile High city to start a set with the Rockies tonight as they look to keep their winning ways alive. Bartolo Colon gets the start today as he squares off against Juan Nicasio.

Colon is 2-3 on the season over five starts with a 4.50 ERA and 32.0 innings of work. Since his bad start in LA, Colon has been on a similar roll to the start of the season. In his last two starts he has logged 14.0 innings with 4 ER and 14 strikeouts. He has made two career starts against the Rockies where he allowed 8 runs, 7 earned over 11.2 innings. The Rockies have the following numbers against Colon:

  • Morneau 0-11, 4 K
  • Barnes 2-6, 2 2B
  • Gonzalez 1-3
  • Pacheco 2-3, 2B
  • Stubbs 1-2

Juan Nicasio is 2-1 in the first month of the season with 5 starts and 27.1 innings while posting a 5.27 ERA. In his last two starts he has pitched 9.1 innings allowing 15 hits, 10 runs, 9 earned. Last year he picked up the win in one start against the Mets after allowing 6 hits and 4 earned runs over 5 innings. The Mets have the following numbers against Juan:

  • Abreu 0-3
  • Granderson 0-2
  • Murphy 0-2
  • Wright 2-3, 2 HR
  • Duda 0-1
  • Gee 1-1
  • Tejada 1-2

Lets Go Mets!

  • Metropolitan

I am worried about Jabba pitching at Coors field

  • tacknaf

Lagares should be in CF every day. Rotate the other 3.

  • Schnitzer’s Marble Rye

Hey, the Rockies and Marlins are a combined 19-8 at home this season. 4-3 on the rest of this road trip would be pretty solid. 5-2 or better would be just plain awesome. Looking forward to Lagares’ return! Oh and btw, look towards the top right corner of this page. The Mets are just 2 games out of first place. LGM.

  • mets4lyfe

Lagares should never be in a platoon.

This is a fine example of Collins being Collins. Doing whatever he can to appease his favorites on the team.

  • billpulsipher

someone needs to tell TC that EY is a 4th/5th outfielder. apparently he’s too stupid to realize what the rest of MLB, the fans and the media have already figured out

  • Big Daddy D

    Mike Puma is that you?

  • This was on Twitter from one of ESPN’s saber heavy guys…

  • Good night for Wright to wake up.

  • That is not cool. Jabba would never put peanut butter on his neck.

  • KEITH

He Will be allowed an ounce of peanut butter on his neck. No worries.

  • I think even EYJr tried to tell him but he still won’t listen.

  • CJM

I think regarding this 4-man outfield, we need to wait and see before passing final judgment. My hope is that Lagares, Grandy, and CY all play well enough to establish themselves as full-time outfielders for this team going forward. Right now though, considering the DL stints to CY and Lagares, and the horrendous offense from Granderson, TC probably has a bit of justification to employ a 4-man outfield, because no player has fully established himself yet.

  • Schnitzer’s Marble Rye

I haven’t been there too much lately, but I actually saw a few well articulated, on the money comments about this topic on a post yesterday on Metsblog:

“Each of them (our 4 OF’ers) should play….not necessarily equally. The real problem is THIS: Terry Collins doesn’t need to answer EVERY question or address EVERY situation. The answer is: “Hey…they’re all good…we’re lucky to have them ALL…My job is to use all of them to help us win games”….PERIOD!” -Eraff

“..Leave him (Lagares) alone in CF. Sit Granderson down once in a while against a lefty, and sit Chris Young down once in a while against a righty. That would get Eric Young two starts a week. And when Lagares and Murphy need a day off, EY can get in again. That’s plenty of playing time for him.” -nthmetsfan

lol this stuff seems obvious to everyone except TC

  • sperry

If you’re not gonna sit Granderson, and Collins is going to insist on making EYJ more than he is, then just rotate EYJ and CY in LF. Under no circumstances should Lagares be platooned. EYJ is not the future. CY is not the future. If he’s healthy, let’s find out exactly what Lagares can be. Duda has been around for 4 years and is only now being given that full time shot. Do you really want to have the same situation with Lagares in 2018? See if he sinks or swims so we know if we need to find someone else for 2015.

  • Metjorge

I bet Collins is setting traps all over Coors Field hoping one of his outfielders trips and breaks something, so he doesn’t have to deal with this. All while putting bubble wrap all over EY Jr.

  • AJF

Who is kidding who here ! We all know Lagares will be on the bench more than starting I won’t be surprise to see Aberu starting more games

  • Not4

Very funny and probably true. EY’s offense has been as bad as expected. I have no faith whatsoever anytime he comes to bat right now – he reminds me of Luis Castillo late in his career with the Mets at the plate. That said, its early in the season and hopefully he can find some sort of groove offensively.

He has done a better job of walking this year, which makes up a little for his woeful offense to date. And, more importantly, he is 5th in the league in runs scored and at least a few of those were directly related to his stealing 2nd to get into scoring position. So mark me as conflicted. I still think he is no more than a 4th or 5th OF (and excellent pinch runner), but if he can keep scoring runs, I have less of a problem with him getting playing time.

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

The whole “quest” thing is a bit strong. EY got lots of playing time because Lagares and CY each missing chunks of time right at the start. I’m willing to sit and see how he handles having all four guys before I start foaming at that mouth. He literally hasn’t done anything yet and he’s already doing the wrong thing apparently.

Also, keep in mind those tweets are in reverse order so, in the end, he’s putting it on Alderson.

  • HillsideAve

On the money comments, and I said the same a few days ago. If TC actually kept his mouth shut, media and fans would actually say that he’s done a great job so far.
A lot of us actually know that a broken clock is right twice a day, but that’s beside the point.

  • HillsideAve

I can hear TC saying that EYJ deserves the chance to play in front of his former fans.

  • NewYorkMammoths

No fat jokes! We’re better than that, people.

  • BigAl831

Right because Lagares didn’t start at all last year! Or early this season! So true!

  • Jgreen

Wouldn’t mind if he gets traded away day after

  • WilponsNeed2Go

Looks like this might be a big day for Wright! 2-3 2 HR lifetime against Nicasio and we’re at Coors.

  • AJF

Are you paying attention with what Collins is saying? Do you really think he is going to Sit Curtis ? Chris Young? No because they make too much $$$ And Collins love Eric Young because of his speed!

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

    Even better.

Wright at Coors Field: .392/.472/.700 w/ 10 home runs in 120 ABs

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

Really hopeful some of our bigger hitters can bust out at Coors this series. And out pitchers keep the ball out of the stands.

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

Who was in CF Opening Day? They know he’s supposed to be out there.

  • everybodysbuddy

Personally I just don’t see fitting these guys in as that big of a deal. If EY gives each outfielder a day off each week he get’s three games starting and the other guys get 4 or 5. And once in a while he gets 2nd base to give Murph a day. It’s really not that complicated. Am I missing something here?

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

    No, you’re not.

  • Jgreen

Rockies bats are on freaking hot streak right now. I was hoping for Colon to avoid Coors but oh well hope Wright and Grandy can make it up.

  • QueensRussell

Let’s win this first win, boys! We plate five and I think we win.

    LGM!!!

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

Why does this outfield rotation have everyone so upset? Is it simply because no one wants to see Lagares on the bench? Seems to me there are two other guys playing poorly – Granderson and CY. Playing time for EY isn’t necessarily going to come at Lagares’ expense. There are two other guys perfectly capable of sitting out. And even still, if we’re talking about EY getting into a game or two each week, that still means Lagares, for example, plays six out of seven days a week and that’s plenty. Or Granderson. Or CY.

Make EY a bench player? Fine. But bench players are going to get into games also. Can’t complain every single time it happens.

  • MetsfanInParadise

The primary OF rotation will have a LH OF on the bench 2 days out of 4, assuming Grandy & EYJ each sit once every 4 games. making Nieuwy expendable. If he is sent down they’ll need a RH bat with HR potential on the bench, except the one day when CY sits (knowing TC hates to use his 2nd catcher to PH under normal circumstances) so the logical thing to do would be to switch out Satin for Campbell at the same time. What are the odds they’ll do the logical thing? If I were Campbell I wouldn’t be wagering my meal money on it downtown

  • Pedro’s Rooster

Makes sense. Do you see TC having the mental aptitude to execute on that approach? I do not. Here’s how I see his process:

“Curtis plays every day. He’s a true vet. Check.”
“CY plays every day. He hits homers. Check.”
“EY or Lagares? EY runs fast. Check.”

    Two weeks later….

Reporter: “Terry, why isn’t Juan Lagares playing?”
    TC: “Um….errr…..”

  • MetsfanInParadise

It’s a conundrum only because each of the other 3 has compelling qualities. EYJ has been one of the top leadoff hitters in baseball for the first month, and the other 2 have to play in order to justify their big contracts. Lagares is the most necessary, but in a way he’s also the most expendable, if you look at it from anything other than strictly a performance standpoint. What we’ve found, so far, though, is that these things generally work themselves out, through injury or performance (except for 1B). I think all this angst will turn out to be overdone.

  • Rocky Thompson

Not sure how switching Satin (a righty bat) for Campbell (a righty bat) is the logical thing to do, except for the fact that you want Campbell in the Mets roster.

  • billpulsipher

3 of these 4 OF’ers are bench players on big teams and listening to TC, its like he has 4 all stars to choose from lol

  • MetsfanInParadise

Looking at an article abut the recent fan broadcaster poll eventually brought me to the GKR drinking game-there’s never a bad time for it, though some of the references are a little dated (hope this is ok)

    http://www.amazinavenue.com/2009/7/9/941855/gary-keith-ron-drinking-game

  • MetsfanInParadise

More power. I have no particular allegiance to either player, I just want the most complete mix on the team. I don’t thin anyone will deny we need more power at this point. It may be different in June, when (if?) Wright, Grandy and CY are all pounding-maybe then a contact bat on the bench will be q better complementary piece.

  • All other commenters will now remain silent until you leave the discussion.

  • Fast Eddie

Curtis Granderson is like Goldman-Sachs: too big to fail. The obvious solution is to platoon CY and CG in RF. One hits only lefties, the other does the same with righties.

Too simple and logical for Terry? Probably. There’s your problem.

    Veloz

  • sperry

Can’t forget Bobby Abreu. He’s a professional ya know, knows how to get things done out there. He finds a way. Just have to get him going.

  • CJM

I see that one of the rules is to chug your beverage if Ralph Kiner makes an appearance. I think that rule should be amended to, “Chug your beverage, go out and buy as many beverages as you can and chug those too.”

  • Michael

I agree. Everyone has to get upset about something. Fans were upset because they thought Lagares was going to sit when CY was activated and then boom he got hurt. It will work out. Everyone stays fresh, match-ups and the like. They all contribute!!

  • Pedro’s Rooster

    Oof. Forgot about Abreu.

May as well let a Roomba patrol RF. It’s just as fast, will take better routes, and at least it’ll go near the wall.

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

Everyone is just so, so upset about this. They haven’t even done anything yet. Can’t we at least wait and see how it’s handled before we complain?

And what’s even funnier to me is that everyone loves the Dodgers. “Oh, I wish the Mets had Dodger money. Oh, look how MLB got McCourt out of there. They need to do that with the Wilpons. We need a real manager like Mattingly.”

Yeah, well that “real manager” is also using a four-man outfield rotation so how are we going to get on Collins if he’s so terrible? People are complaining about something that hasn’t even happened yet.

  • Rocky Thompson

Assuming your statement about 3 of the 4 OF’ers being bench players is correct, what do you want TC to say: “My OF is comprised of mostly bench players and none of them really derserve to play full time, so we are going to rotate them.” I am not sure why you think it is a good idea for a manager to trash his players.

  • Erin_II

As expected, Kirk taking the short flight from Denver to Vegas (or maybe Wilpon went halfsies on a rental car) Thanks for the 3 run homer, that likely won the game for us, buddy.

  • Sylow59

“Yeah, well that “real manager” (Mattingly) is also using a four-man outfield rotation so how are we going to get on Collins if he’s so terrible?”

Mattingly does not manage the Mets. Therein lies the difference.

  • LastSaneMetsFan

    Nail on the head.

  • everybodysbuddy

I do have to admit that if I’m paying the big bucks to sit in the stands ( as well as pay for my three sons) to see the game, I’ll be bummed if I can’t see Lagares play the field.

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

And if he did, he’d be a total moron who can’t do anything right.

The point is the Dodgers are so great, yet they’re doing the same thing and as far as I know, their fans aren’t ready to start knifing people in the parking lot.

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

Well, sadly, teams don’t manage games to please fans. If they did, we’d probably have a much better team. haha.

  • Metjorge

Don’t forget who the manager is. Sense doesn’t apply to him most of the time.

  • TheMets philosophy

@AdamRubinESPN: Juan Lagares activated and Kirk Nieuwenhuis demoted. #mets

  • Agee’s Catch

Those who “bash” are just expressing fear that TC will favor EY Jr over Lagares, when Lagares has arguably been our best outfielder.

  • Metjorge

Why hasn’t it occurred to TC to play EY Jr. at SS. Is his arm that bad?

  • BCleveland3381

We have had CY, Lagares, and Grandy in our OF together for exactly half an inning this season.

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

See, that’s not really an argument. You just don’t like Collins, which is fine.

  • BCleveland3381

Yes. His arm is really bad.

  • BronxMets

people that bought into the reyes hype do not know baseball

  • Joe Blo

It should be Grandy or CY but this is TC and the Mets; logic will not prevail.

  • Joe Blo

Considering most fans wanted Granderson, probably not. :/

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

Yet it was Lagares on the OD roster after so many said it wouldn’t happen. And it was Lagares in CF on Opening Day after so many said it wouldn’t happen. And Mejia made the rotation. And Flores played second base the day he came up.

    It’s not always illogical.

  • BronxMets

what are you blaming terry for?

  • BCleveland3381

EY is not Reyes. Reyes is better at getting on base, a better hitter, with more power, better basestealer, better defender at a more important position, and a better arm. If Reyes got off to a slow start he would be given the benefit of the doubt because he has a proven track record and his skills are off the charts.

  • Shaun

Reyes would be getting killed right now too if he were hitting around 200. He also played a premium position well and had a lot more pop in his bat. Different animals

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

Ssssh. All the fans that wanted Granderson have deleted those comments.

I think it’s funny so many older MMO posts have no comments on them. Wonder why.

  • BronxMets

so exactly WHAT do you want Terry to say about the player SANDY gave him?

  • CJM

Doubtful. If Reyes were performing to EYJ’s level, he would be criticized for it. Perfect example, David Wright is just as well liked among fans as Reyes was, and plenty of people, including me, have pointed out that he has been performing poorly this season.

  • BronxMets

    lets leave town with Tuli

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

    Where to begin…

The sunrise. Global warming. The high cost of socks. That tag on your sweater that makes you itchy.

  • peter

Tough series coming up. Colorado is gonna hit in that stadium, the Mets are gonna have to hit this series to grab 2 or 3 games. Big test in my view, but of course I beleive so its all good.

  • BCleveland3381

That’s a good point. Also, you have to look at the fact that if Reyes was struggling, our other option would be Ruben Tejada. If Wright is struggling, our option is Josh Satin. With EY, we can use either CY or Lagares instead who both have way more upside than EY to begin with.

  • Joe Blo

Not always, but the season has only just begun, TC has something hidden up his sleeves 😉

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

    Oh, ok.

  • TPT

and who do you think will pay the 136 million dollars that left on his contract??

  • CJM

EYJ is not even close to capable at shortstop. Enough with these crazy ideas. Not only that, but Tejada has actually been better with the bat than EYJ, haha.

  • BCleveland3381

That’s the easy solution, but it is more complicated than that. I really believe CY was promised a starting role with this team. That was part of the deal when he signed here, he even eluded to that when he talked about signing with the Mets. And the Mets didn’t pay Grandy 60 million to platoon in year 1, even if it makes the most sense.

This probably would greatly benefit the team if they did that, but it wont happen.

  • Shaun

Hopefully Sandy has a big enough trunk to fit a 6’5″ shortstop into hog tied, because short of a kidnapping I don’t see this ownership signing off on that.

  • Pedro’s Rooster

Would this theoretical Reyes you’ve built also be slugging .285 like EY?

  • CJM

There does happen to be a stark difference between Crawford/Kemp/Ethier/Puig and EYJ/CY/Lagares/Grandy.

  • Taskmaster4450

They were so happy with him that he was DFA’d.

Not sure how much of a following EYJ has out there.

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

Yeah, the Dodgers have four superior players and they’re STILL platooning them.

The Mets have it easier than the Dodgers do. Hmmm. Which player having a bad season should sit today. Decisions. Decisions.

  • Pedro’s Rooster

I assume he has to hitch.

  • BCleveland3381

A .235 average would be 20 points higher than what EY is hitting right now. And he has 2 HRs in 39 ABs this year. That’s not bad. Especially on a team that desperately needs power.

The signing made sense, because Young also serves as Juan Lagares insurance in CF. EY can’t play CF, and Grandy is about 2 or 3 years past that point in his career. CY means that Kirk doesn’t have to get everyday playing time if Lagares goes down.

If CY does hit a little, he becomes a good trade piece to a contender if we aren’t in contention at the deadline. 7.5 million dollars is a very small investment in a potential 20/20 guy who is only 30….especially on a one year deal. Chris Young actually might have been the best signing of the offseason for Sandy. Saying it’s a waste of 7.5 mil is a very shortsighted way to look at the signing.

  • BigAl831

Don’t forget his big 2 out hit against Cishek!

  • BCleveland3381

Would love to see some bats get going in Colorado. This might be a series where our pitchers struggle a bit. We may need some offense.

  • Pedro’s Rooster

    You’re kidding. Seriously?

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

Eh. Partially. I sure would like to read through the comments from the day they singed Granderson, but alas, I cannot.

  • BigAl831

Sometimes I wonder what Wright would do if he played 81 games in any of these bandboxes. It’s a shame the Mets built a stadium that makes it virtually impossible for a righty to hit one out opposite field. He used to do that with regularity even at Shea.

  • MyasDaddy

More than all that. It’s good to see #12 back on the big league roster.

  • oleosmirf

The problem is Terry doesn’t see it that way. He sees a guy that when he gets on base manages to score more often than not.

He truly believes EY is the catalyst this team needs to win games.

  • Pedro’s Rooster

But will that be the selection criteria applied?

Having seen a sufficient sample of TC’s personnel decisions, I do not feel that critical reasoning will be a main factor here.

Instead, lots of confirmation bias, convoluted logic, and oldey-timey baseball thinking will get top billing.

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens. I’m waiting before I start throwing things around.

  • Pedro’s Rooster

I’m glad you’re around. Your rational thinking is very helpful, at least to me. Hail Sandy!

  • BCleveland3381

How does EY resemble a leadoff hitter? Because he’s fast? He plays well leading off a game. He tries to work his walk and when he gets on base, he is a weapon. Unfortunately, he doesn’t get on base nearly enough. And when he gets up later in games with runners on base, he’s useless.

  • CJM

EYJ doesn’t remotely resemble a leadoff hitter either. Sorry, but it’s true. Just because he’s fast doesn’t mean he is a leadoff hitter.

  • BigAl831

    Where those lineups at

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

Didn’t bring up Sandy even a single time and it has nothing to do with him, but sure. That’s the usual default anyway for you guys.

  • oleosmirf

    too early. It’s a late start remember…

  • BCleveland3381

How many team homeruns do you think the Mets will hit during this 4 game series? Im going to be optimistic and say 7. Or maybe that’s not optimistic. It’s so hard to say considering it’s Coors.

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

Unrelated note, did MMO totally ignore Marlon Byrd’s comments in Philly or did I miss something?

  • BigAl831

    I’m gonna guess for funsies….

    CY
    Granderson
    Wright
    Murph
    Lagares
    Duda
    Travis
    Tejada

Not what I would go with but what I think TC will do.

  • CJM

Against righties, Murphy leads off. Against lefties, CY leads off.

  • Taskmaster4450

I think its a given EYJ is in there.

  • CJM

    What did he say?

  • BigAl831

How so? He’s been slumping. Lagares is back he’s getting the start and colorado is the perfect place for Granderson and CY to hit some bombs.

  • NewYorkMammoths
  • CyYout

They’ll each get three out of every four games. The one who sits probably pinch hits or gets double-switched. EYJ spells Murph at second. It’s all fine.

  • Taskmaster4450

Is a team HR like a team rebound in the NBA?

  • oleosmirf

I think it’s a lock Lagares wont be starting tonight.

  • Taskmaster4450

Collins even said that EY deserves a chance to play in front of his fans from his old team.

You are using logic instead of trying to figure what Collins will do.

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

Praised them to the rafters and said they can win 90. I guess MMO ignored it.

  • Pedro’s Rooster

Hmmm….you may be unclear. I was being sincere–I’m glad you’re here. You counterbalance my tendency toward irrationally assuming the worst.

The “Hail Sandy!” line is because you’ve been labeled a Sandy Lover by a specific commenter, and I find his whole shtick mock-worthy.

Guess I’ll need to work on being clearer (and funnier)…..

  • BigAl831

It’s all going to be okay. If everyone plays how they are capable of playing we’ll have a good problem on our hands and EY will play less and less.

Fans like to make big fusses out of nothing. We’re 4 games over with virtually no offense and our favorite CF is back!

  • BigAl831

Let’s make a bet about that.

  • BigAl831

Well he has 3 other games to play.

Lagares is playing tonight I’m banking on it.

  • Taskmaster4450

Who would have played CF when Lagares went down? Or worse, what if Lagares didnt hit and was a candidate to head back to the minors?

Who is your CF in those instances? Kirk? EYJ?

  • oleosmirf

3 rehab games in a row coming off a hammy injury. EYJ back against his old team, CY and CG power bats in Coors field.

  • BigAl831

If Lagares is playing you have to write I <3 BigAl831 after every post tonight.

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

Ohhh. I humbly ask for your forgiveness. Haha.

All good points. It just seems hard to believe that Collins will sit EY.

If he does sit EY, I would assume he’d switch CY and Lagares.

  • BCleveland3381

Ok, don’t you see the difference with EY struggling with RISP and Lagares struggling in his rookie year? Lagares carried this team for two weeks.

  • CJM

Why don’t you look up Murphy’s career OBP against right handed pitchers.

  • oleosmirf

no thanks. too much extra typing. I’ll say it once for ya though

  • MetsfanInParadise

As I said, it’s dated. No one gushes over Orlando Hudson any more, either

  • CyYout

This is the biggest series of the year to date IMHO. Whatever they do here will carry over into their games with the Marlins, Phils, and Yanks.

  • BigAl831

The one game when all 4 OF’s were healthy, EY was the one sitting.

Everyone is really going crazy about the playing time thing but I really don’t think it’s going to be a problem. Collins likes EY, maybe a little too much, but Lagares is the CF. Just like the entire second half last season and every game in April that he was healthy for.

    Whatever LGM!

  • BigAl831

Okay and if he’s sitting I just won’t post because I’ll be sad.

  • Pedro’s Rooster

Well, I guess I can look forward to the locals rioting and throwing beer at him all summer now….

  • Not4

I think Tulo would be precisely the type of player they would pay for, but hard to imagine any way that the Rockies trade him.

  • Taskmaster4450

    Stop being a Sandy Lover.

And Byrd is a POS because Alderson signed him so you cant take anything he says seriously. He is a cheater and a worthless POS.

  • BigAl831

I WAS RIGHT YOU <3 ME!!!!

  • Taskmaster4450

They dont need an excuse to do that in Philly.

That is just an average Thursday night.

  • BCleveland3381

Correct answer for Murphy’s career OBP against righties……343.
Against lefties, I would actually let Tejada leadoff. He actually hits lefties really well and has a career OBP of .373 against left handed pitching.

  • BigAl831

OMG GUYS LAGARES IS STARTING AND IN CF AND LEADING OFF OMG I HATE TERRY COLLINS WHERE IS EY JR AHHH THE WORLD IS OVER

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

hahaha. What does that have to do with Sandy? Jesus. You guys are really entertaining.

I’m sure you sat on your hands while he was hitting home runs for us.

  • CyYout

That guy is the gift that keeps on giving.

  • CJM

Not a terrible idea either. I know Tejada is great against lefties but I seem to naturally write him off.

  • Not4

Actually, he was not sitting. He played 2B for the absent Murphy. It is not clear how the OF would have been aligned had Murphy been in the lineup.

Not going crazy over playing time. Just think that Collins has an overblown view of EY’s abilities and makes bad decisions because of that.

  • MyasDaddy

Wow, TC is actually listening to me. No wonder they started winning games. Put the kid in the leadoff spot and lets see what he can do! LGM!

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

God I love it so much! All the humble pie served up in a tasty little dish for all these fans.

  • BigAl831

    I was right…..

  • Taskmaster4450

On a side note, did anyone notice how the Braves got creamed the last two nights by the Marlins. The fish can really hit in that ball park. The Met pitchers will have their hands full next week with them.

  • CJM

The Rockies won’t trade him while they are playing as well as they’ve been playing. No way.

  • BigAl831

Didn’t mean you were crazy but I believe most fans are making something out of nothing before letting it all play out.

And tonight’s lineup looks great to me.

  • BigAl831

    Feels good yummy!!!!

  • Not4

To me too! Happy to see I was wrong.

  • Metstheory22

Could be good if all are able to play and rest. If a player happens to be hot, hopefully he will get a good run. Keep everyone fresh, have Abreu PH and DH.

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

Ah. All that whining and crying for nothing. Lagares is leading off AND in CF as soon as he comes back.

    Feel better now everyone?

  • corny12491

This is the first lineup Collins has written this year that I agree with

  • CJM

On the bright side, if things continue as is, they will miss Fernandez again. Assume with this offense that any game against Fernandez is an automatic loss, and a possible no-hitter.

  • Taskmaster4450

    That was sarcasm.

  • MyasDaddy

Yo man- Is your AC trip this weekend?

  • CJM

    Next weekend.

  • Not4

Things do usually have a way of working themselves out. Hopefully that will be the case here. Don’t get me wrong, I hope EY can start hitting. Just not too optimistic. But if he can continue to walk, steal bases and most importantly score runs, then I have no issue with him getting some playing time at the expense of the other OFers

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

Really hard to tell online. I need like a s/ or something

  • MyasDaddy

Mine is in two weekends after that. I cannot wait!

  • CJM

CY has a .363 career OBP against lefties. He’s clearly done more than just try to hit home runs against lefties his entire career.

  • CJM

I’m psyched as well. Nothing better than spring, baseball, and gambling.

  • CJM

I prefer to look at larger samples when they’re available.

  • mets2014

wow I never thought he would slide granderson to 6th

  • Metstheory22

    By Adam Rubin | ESPNNewYork.com
DENVER — Here are the lineups for the Mets’ 8:40 p.m. ET game against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field.

    Mets
    Juan Lagares, cf
    Daniel Murphy, 2b
    David Wright, 3b
    Lucas Duda, 1b
    Chris Young, lf
    Curtis Granderson, rf
    Travis d’Arnaud, c
    Ruben Tejada, ss
    Bartolo Colon, rhp

  • MyasDaddy

So true, so true! I think if it can come slow down in two weeks, I may hit the Mets/Yanks game on May 15th before heading to the Borgata. I doubt it will happen though!

  • BigAl831

I think he’ll end up giving Granderson a day off against a tough lefty, CY against a tough righty, Lagares and Murph when they need days off etc. There is playing time to be had for all.

  • CJM

This is the best lineup they’ve fielded all year.

  • mets2014

lots of ground to cover in coors field…lagares should really play all 4 games

  • Maybe if we offer them Tejada, EYJr, Gee, Farnsworth and Valverde?

  • Waz0787

    Useful

  • Rocky Thompson

With Colorado scheduled to start LHP on Friday and Saturday, I thought C Young or Lagares would sit today or Sunday and E Young or Granderson would sit Friday or Saturday. But based on tonights lineup, it looks like EY is the guy whose playing time will be most affected.

  • I’d like to file an official complaint about your comments during the game tonight.

  • Shaun

So you know they’ll get no hit haha

  • CJM

You know, the offense has sucked all year. And frankly, there’s a possibility that it will continue to suck. But the fact that they’ve started 15-11 and have yet to put out a lineup as good as tonight’s lineup is very interesting.

  • Chuck

Your glass is MORE than half-empty, Shaun. So LGM!

  • Shaun

    Haha just kidding buddy. LGM!!!

  • HarveyKsYou

We can all bash Collins, but then when he does something that we all like we don’t give him credit.. Interesting.

  • CJM

I just realized a possible reason for Lagares getting the start tonight over EYJ is Colon on the mound. He’s probably their most prominent flyball pitcher, so it seems kind of necessary to have the best possible outfield defense tonight.

  • CJM

Shouldn’t a manager be expected to effortlessly put out the optimal lineup each day? Doesn’t seem like a hard task.

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

Easy for you to sit at your keyboard and write a lineup without dealing with any consequences or any of the other factors that go into it.

  • WillisReid

    I thought apes threw poo.

  • CJM

I’m also not hired as a big league manager. But, I mean, being able to write in the best lineup seems requisite to the job, no?

  • Hitmanᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ ✔

He actually put out a good lineup for tonight. I’m impressed.

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

I’m sure you’d be a very successful big league manager.

  • Hitmanᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ ✔

Collins after the game: “EY will start tomorrow”.

  • Chuck

good idea, something like a /SARC at the end. I sometimes have to read posts twice to decide if it’s a straight comment, or sarcasm. Some of the guys you can tell, because they ALWAYS argue so strongly against SA, and some of them always argue for SA, no matter what. Buy still, there’s enough posters on the board that you can’t always remember their previous positions. Or at least that’s true for me, since I’ve only been coming here regularly for the past six months or so.

  • Hitmanᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ ✔

How’d I know you would write this?

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

So what? Is he not a player on this team? He’s going to start AT SOME POINT you know.

  • CJM

Never said I would be. You’re now just changing the subject. Should a major league manager be able to write the best lineup every night? Yes or no?

  • Chuck

LOL … I got, I got it, no, I got it …. I hit it, I hit it, no, I hit it!

  • Hitmanᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ ✔

LOL I’m just busting your chops. You’re gonna get high blood pressure reading these comments.

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

    ooof. You’re telling me. haha

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

There’s a difference between what the best lineup is and what YOU think is the best lineup.

  • CJM

So you believe every lineup TC has written this year has been the best lineup he could’ve possibly written?

  • seldomused

It’s easily the best lineup Terry has put out there, but sadly it can still be improved. Chris Young should be batting 7th, with d’Arnaud at 5 or 2 in the lineup.

  • BarnRat

I’m just happy that most of the starters are now hitting in the .200s –progress!

  • MetsFanSantaMonica

This is the lineup we should be using going forward. Full steam ahead. LGM! And let s go Marlins too!!!

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

I don’t know if it is or isn’t the best lineup. If they win, doesn’t that make it the best lineup? I care if they win and when they don’t, I’m more apt to blame the players or whoever make the mistake than I am the lineup.

And this whole thing where Collins can’t write the best lineup. Well, he just did so I guess he can. He just needed Lagares back perhaps.

You think you can write a perfect major league lineup. That’s fine. I think it’s pretty arrogant for someone with no dog in the fight to say such a thing, but that’s your right.

  • Pedro’s Rooster

Yes. But now I have to find something else to get needlessly upset over.

  • CJM

No, if they win, that doesn’t not mean they had the best possible lineup. That’s a logical flaw.

  • LIMetfan22

Anybody else terrified about facing the Rockies in Coors Field right now? They have the best offense in the league and Tulo and CarGo absolutely MASH at CF.

  • LastSaneMetsFan

For the 1st time the logical choice was made by Terry Collins.

  • CJM

    Nope.

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

Well, they have the best lineup tonight so i guess Collins is capable.

  • CJM

This might not even be the best lineup. It is the first time they’ve had all of Murphy, CY, and Lagares available in the same game, however.

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

Well, write me that best line up then…

  • Hitmanᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ ✔

Give it a few weeks and d’Arnaud will be 2nd, Murph will be 5th, and CY will be 6th.

  • oleosmirf

Terry will always bat Murphy 2nd.

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

    Plenty of options.

  • Hitmanᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ ✔

Not really, but I’m hoping we take 3 out of 4.

  • Jgreen

OMG this is dream line up

  • oleosmirf

The only changes should be Omar for Tejada since he’s better against RHP and Granderson in LF and Young in RF since CY has the better arm.

  • $14435385

What’s maddening is that if it does well, he’ll change it tomorrow…

  • Hitmanᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ ✔

Because there’s no one else right now who can be consistent enough to hit 2nd.

  • Pedro’s Rooster

Now that the Flyers have disappointed them for the eleventy billionth time, they should be free and clear for alcohol-fueled violence and stupidity at CBP all summer long.

  • Joe

    Who’s better defensively?

    Chris Young or EYJ?

  • Wolfmicky21

    Love the lineup.

  • MyasDaddy

I think TC struck gold with this lineup. Duda needs to be in the cleanup spot. CY to split the Duda/Granderson 4-5-6. EY out, Lagares in! Finally Terry… you did it!

  • Joe

    Who’s better defensively?

    Lagares or Den Dekker?

  • Erin_II

    I`m thinking he had “help”.

  • MyasDaddy

Hey bud! Long time no talk. How are you? Maybe he had help from the commenters here on this blog!

  • NewYorkMammoths

Pedro, when you go to CPB for Mets games, what do you wear?

  • Erin_II

    All good. I`ve been busy.
I think the FO has made corrections to the LU.

  • HillsideAve

Yes…that was the element of sarcasm….

  • Opti-Mets-tic

    4 game series + Coors field = > 7 HR

  • ColoradoMetsFan

Upon meeting for the first time, George Harrison told George Martin he didn’t like his tie, so there’s always that…:)

  • MyasDaddy

Me too. Are you heading to any games in Miami next week? If the FO always makes corrections, why can’t they make a good correction and find us a new manager?

  • Erin_II

They`re terrified of our SP and our offensive juggernaut, unbridled by humid air.

  • Xavier 22

I do not like the size of the bricks they used to build CitiField. And they’re too red. What are we, the Phillies?

  • everybodysbuddy

They’re both very good in my opinion, but I haven’t seen enough of denDecker to really say, but I honestly don’t know that I have watched anyone play a better center field than Lagares.

  • Metsaholic

From what I’ve seen, it’s Lagares by a length. Better arm, better jump, more gifted athlete.

  • $14435385

Both very good, but Lagares seems to get better jumps and has a better (stronger and more accurate) arm.

  • Joe

Imagine an outfield with both of them. Happened once last year

  • Erin_II

Sure am. I have tickets for 2, and I`m thinking of going by myself on Tuesday on the sly.

  • MyasDaddy

Nice! Have you ever been there before? What’s the park like? Are you bringing the kid to the other 2?

  • Guest

How did both of them play “center field” at the same time. Maybe in the outfield together?

  • Joe

It was a typo. I edited it. I meant outfield.

  • CJM

    Lagares easily.

  • Erin_II

Yep, been there before. Very Floridaish and modern. Way better than the old park obviously.

  • IndianaMet

Is TC sick and quarantined in his hotel room? Did he get suspended? Nice lineup!

  • MyasDaddy

    Nice. Is it relatively cheap?

  • Manager of The Year

No way TC made this lineup. SA probably put this together. He has done this year already and he will do it again to keep Lagares in. At least he knows what he is doing with the lineup

  • Joe

How did EYJ almost win a gold glove last year?

  • Manager of The Year

I’ve been there too I liked the park enough. I remember Tulo hitting a home run about 10 feet to my left

  • Rocky Thompson

Lagares – he gets better jumps on the ball, he charges ground balls more aggressively and he has a better arm. He also makes it look easier than den Dekker. IMO den Dekker will be included in a trade prior to the start of the 2015 season.

  • MetsPedes

That’s BS if Lagares to this point has to “fight” for his position. It’s simple, Lagares CF, CY at RF, and Curtis at LF. Although if it was up to me Curtis would be benched(bum).
But it know he’s making a ton of $(thank you Sandy for that), so he has to play. But then again TC still our manager, so we know he’s going to do everything backwards.

  • MetsFanSantaMonica

Most ppl are calling lagares the best defensive cf in baseball so…mdd gotta take.a.seat.

  • sarge69

Go get some more at bats in AAA Kirk and continue to eliminate your long swing, try to make it a bit shorter and stay away from high outside pitches; your pitch recognition seemed better but you still have to make contact, good luck!

Glad to have our best hitter at start of season back and should play more than EY.

Speed and stolen bases are great but you have to get on base, same problem Gordon and Hamilton had, great speed but couldn’t get on base though Gordon seems to have turned it around, though 0-5 today’s game.

Still EY can’t be lead off if he can’t get on base, he should be 4th OF, replacement runner, late game base steal or faster runner.
He does not inspire confidence at the top of batting order or hitting with RISP, he has looked terrible when an RBI situation is there.

  • Anthony

This will be a tough series The Rockies can hit our offense better show up

  • Sylow59

They are very likely to make 27 outs tonight. Take your pick.

  • Erin_II

Not if you want to sit close.

  • Rocky Thompson

When you say Lagares has to “fight” for his position, are you referring to injuries? For every game Lagares has been healthy this season, Collins has started him in CF.

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Tonight’s lineup:

    Mets
    Juan Lagares, cf
    Daniel Murphy, 2b
    David Wright, 3b
    Lucas Duda, 1b
    Chris Young, lf
    Curtis Granderson, rf
    Travis d’Arnaud, c
    Ruben Tejada, ss
    Bartolo Colon, rhp
If Lagares could be an igniter at the top it would make it easier to make EYJ the odd man out in the long run. I don’t think anyone expects the 4-man rotation to be more than a temporary solution.

    (Better late than never)

  • Schnitzer’s Marble Rye

Off-topic, and it’s not that I wish ill will towards the guy, but I do find it kinda funny (for lack of a better term) that Mike Pelfrey is now 0-3 with a 7.99 ERA. No idea why the Twins extended him for 2 years 11 million coming off a 5-13 season with a 5.19 ERA.

  • Sylow59

Well, that was true UNTIL BALDERSON TRADED HIM!! Since BALDERSON is an idiot it clearly follows that Byrd is not a POS.

  • MyasDaddy

Are you going to come up this year? Maybe we could catch a ballgame together?

  • Selltheteam06

I go to UM so ill probably make it to a game or two, is it easy to move around once you get in the stadium?

  • Eyeball

I think there is a triple or quadruple negative in there.

Juan Lagares – “all I want to do is work hard and help this team. If I’m not playing I will be ready”

How can anyone not love this kids attitude?!

  • This is why Colon became a bargain.

  • KennyandtheMets

Is this really the line up? Or is this just your line up? I agree with this line up Btw.

  • jaygreen55

    As posted on ESPN

  • KennyandtheMets

True. But there were always injuries, to other guys, that forced Terry’s hand. Along with Juan’s strong play.

  • KennyandtheMets

My dad saw DiMaggio play. He compares the jump Juan gets on a ball to DiMaggio. He said the DiMaggio seemed to be moving toward the ball before it even left the bat.

  • Lagares is hitting leadoff in his return, Duda cleanup, Granderson batting 6th.

  • TheJuanWhoKnocks

I read an article on espn talking about Yoenis Cespedes and his trade value. Considering the A’s 4 and 5 starters are struggling, maybe we could trade for him with Gee later in the season. Would you guys do that?

  • Take a look at Hughes and Aroyyo too.

  • +1 for TC. For the moment

  • WilponsNeed2Go

Lagares leading-off and Duda hitting clean-up! Did someone tie-up Terry Collins and lock him inside the team bus?

  • Vin

    That’s gotta be the FO.

    Either way, about time.

  • KennyandtheMets

Thanks. I’m glad. Glad that Duda is hitting clean up. He has been aggressive in RBI situations, which was my biggest problem with him before. Glad that Juan is leading off, I hope he can hit the ground running in that role.

  • Manager of The Year

It really depends on how the rest of his year goes. He has a ton of power. Also he is a free agent after 2015 so that is something to take into account

  • TheJuanWhoKnocks

True, didn’t realize he’ll be a free agent in 2015. I think we wait and see who steps up between Gee and Niese over the course of the season before we make a move

  • Manager of The Year

Can’t you tell there is no way TC put this lineup together it makes too much sense.

  • BarnRat

    Yes. Sshhh….

  • WilponsNeed2Go

It really depends how many of our young arms see action this summer. I’d rather keep Gee and trade Niese or Colon.

  • Manager of The Year

After the 2015 season but I think (not sure) Gee will be a FA the year after so if we give Cespedes an extension the deal would make much more sense

  • Tommy Med

HUGE SERIES. GREAT pitching Vs GREAT hitting lets hope our middle of the order takes advantage of the Coors effect.

  • BronxMets

A’s didn’t want colon for two years when it cost them nothing so now they trade for him????

  • KennyandtheMets

Beltran in his prime might have been as good. Aside from that, I can’t think of anyone in Mets history that has the range plus the arm. Maybe Tommy Agee, but I don’t remember his arm.

  • TheJuanWhoKnocks

Gee is only arb eligible in 2015, he won’t be a free agent until 2017. That gives him a ton of value

  • Manager of The Year

That one idiot that says its a bad idea.

  • WilponsNeed2Go

I’m talking more in general, rather than just a trade for the A’s. But if were talking strictly a deal for Cepedes, than I still rather trade Niese than Gee.

  • Mike Lloyd

One can only hope…good news for fan’s of great defense and preventing runs 🙂

  • Shortly before Terry Collins met with reporters and posted tonight’s lineup, he was in a closed door meeting with Sandy Alderson. Said one player who wished to remain anonymous, “I don’t know what went on in there, but it was loud.”

    Okay I kid, I kid…. 🙂

  • KennyandtheMets

I can live with this line up for now. I do think that Terry will work EY in at least 3 starts per week though.

  • BarnRat

    Maybe you kid

  • TheJuanWhoKnocks

I love Gee, but IF Niese can stay healthy he has higher upside. Remember lefties sometimes break out later, Cliff Lee was 29 when he became elite

  • everybodysbuddy

You might be right, but I never saw much of Beltran playing in his prime in KC. The way Lagares plays shallow and takes hits away, and he goes back better than anyone I’ve ever seen. I was a kid when Agee played so I saw him, but I couldn’t really remember that well to compare. I was like 13 in 69.

  • KennyandtheMets

That was so weird. Playing next to Lagares too. Very strange.

  • KennyandtheMets

Well. We do have a great defensive OF. So, if the pitchers can keep the Rockies in the yard, we’ve got a good shot to catch it!

  • KennyandtheMets

I was 6 in 69. I have vague memories of Agee live.

You mean the straw man Terry you’ve created in your head. You’re projecting your personal bias without facts to back it up

  • One of things I love about covering the Mets is Terry Collins. The things he says and how swiftly he reverses himself from day to day is so funny to me. I love how he riles everyone up and then never follows through with half those things anyway. 🙂

  • StrawberryPiazzaWright

Lagares is a notch above MDD defensively any day and twice on Sundays. This is how I rate them defensively:
    Matt den Dekker: VERY GOOD
    Juan Lagares: ELITE EXELLENT

  • everybodysbuddy

You know I do remember him playing, but to me Swaboda was good in the outfield so obviously I was no expert. But Harrelson was my guy though as you might have guessed by the name I chose! That was what Bob Murphy called him.

  • BarnRat

Well we’ve reached that moment when Terry’s broken watch is showing the correct time. Better win tonight or Terry won’t even keep the broken watch. LGM

  • HarveyKsYou

    Disgusting.

  • Destry

Nice lineup. There is no way Terry Collins put this lineup together.

  • That’s exactly what he does. On Tuesday I wrote something similar saying that if he simply would say “I’m not sure yet” or “I haven’t made a final decision” instead of giving knee-jerk responses his job would be so much easier.

  • KennyandtheMets

Niese has a similar arsenal to Lee as well. The big curve and the cutter too.

  • StrawberryPiazzaWright

I am not so sure that would be such a good idea (see Beltrán/Cameron collision, and a few collisions between Mookie/Dykstra). In principle sounds exeptional, but I think defensively when you combine them together, it can not get any better than Chris Young, Juan Lagares, and Curtis Granderson. That is one of the best defensive outfield units the Mets have ever had. At least since the days of McReynolds, Dykstra, Strawberry, (and Mookie).

  • Andrew Herbst

This is the best lineup we’ve had all season.

  • Destry

We’re not playing at home in April. You will see a big difference in or offense.

  • IndianaMet

Funniest thing I’ve seen here all week. And this place usually kills!

  • BigAl831

    Because I’m silly!!!

  • Tomthetinker

cool..I was just relaying what was on the Mets website. ty

  • PessiMets

Even if he does he is a 6th hitter and that’s a better run producing spot

  • Tomthetinker

Never said it made sense. Just sharing what was on mets.com

  • StrawberryPiazzaWright

Honorable mention to the 2005 outfield unit (Floyd/Beltrán/Cameron). Floyd did lead the league in assists that year, if I remember correctly, and played very solid defense.

  • I don’t know about you guys, but I feel a barrage of Mets runs in this series and breakthrough performances by Wright and d’Arnaud.

  • KennyandtheMets

I remember Buddy. Great scrappy player.

  • NewYorkMammoths

  • IndianaMet

That would take Thor, Nimmo and Niese. And the SS in Aball that is hitting .400. Maybe more.

  • It’s amazing how many errors they make on mets.com this season so far.

  • KennyandtheMets

    I got it.

  • IndianaMet

His medic alert bracelet to notify first responders about his dementia.

  • Metropolitan

If Coors field can’t help this team hit home runs nothing will, they are truly hopeless

  • George_Theodore

    Maybe Collins actually woke up.

  • jason bay

And Granderson against the two RHP in games 1 and 4.

  • Chuck

Ha! Well, if that happens, then Joe D started a rumor with a joke on MMO! LOL

  • Tomthetinker

    Thats why I frequent MMO.com

  • BarnRat

After a day off and a rain-out, I’m just going to be thankful to see someone throw a pitch. (For about 2 minutes, then I’m going to be a volatile idiot based on what happened in the preceding 30 seconds).

  • Chuck

I like Niese, but I will be amazed if he becomes elite. And happy too (i.e., if he’s still on the Mets).

  • MetsfanInParadise

I’m not Mr Negativity, but I play one on TV. Seriously, I hope this isn’t one of those times when just as we’re all getting excited we get slapped down 11-1, reminding us all of the true nature of things. I really expect a big game from Wright, and I hope Colon can keep the ball in the yard.

  • LIMetfan22

Don’t feel good about this series. Rockies offense is clicking on all cylinders.

  • Hitmanᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ ✔

You too? I’m seeing them take 3 out of 4.

  • Tommy Med

Other than Dela Rosa i cant name another Starter for the Rockies lol i think Chacin is injured and Chatwood just went on the DL. Bad pitching on top of the Coors effect should = RUNS

  • jaygreen55

He’s between a rock and a hard place. If he says he doesn’t know or has to think about it he’s indecisive or clueless and if he answers and changes his mind his mind he gets blasted for that. The bottom line is that at least for now they’re winning and I don’t think that for the last 3 years their record would have been significantly better no matter what Terry did

  • Shaun

    of course…

  • metsfan130

    Please don’t pitch to Tulo.

  • MetsFanSantaMonica

our pitching is clicking on all cylinders. good pitching beats good hitting 7 days a week.

  • NewYorkMammoths

So they’re saying they’d like #MetsFacts to be a trending topic??!!

  • MetsFanSantaMonica

agreed. would be nice to see a few more 6-1 scores up there, although I’ll be happy if we hold Colorado to 3 or 4 each game.

  • Selltheteam06

ughh ok thanks for the heads up

  • LIMetfan22

Excluding the pitcher, only 3 Rockie regulars are hitting under .300

  • WilponsNeed2Go

We also lead the National League in strikeouts with 242.

  • MyasDaddy

To your point… do the Mets ever play well (win wise) in Colorado?

  • BCleveland3381

    Our owners are broke #MetsFacts

  • LIMetfan22

From 2010-2013 Mets are 6-7 there.

  • MetsFanSantaMonica

i was sold on him after the all star break last year when it was reported he spent the 4 days studying tape and working on getting his wrists in better position. That’s why I always thought he would improve as a hitter. Never heard Ike talk like that.

  • MyasDaddy

    Well.. That’s not terrible.

  • NewYorkMammoths

Jeff Wilpon once pretended to have played minor league ball in the Expos system. #MetsFacts

  • Chuck

Me too on “our” age in ’69 … I turned 14 that December. I remember seeing Agee, but I had no idea how good he was, beyond his rep. That was the year we got even with all our friends that were Yankee fans! LOL

  • Shaun

We have a .618 OPS. Thank god for the Padres. #MetsFacts

  • BCleveland3381

I have a feeling this might be a breakout series for Chris Young. We’ve already seen his power. In this ballpark, I could see him blowing up. Really, you could see anyone going off though. Hopefully our fly ball pitchers can keep the Rockies in the ballpark.

  • KennyandtheMets

Can’t walk guys at Coors Field. That is asking for a big inning.

  • MetsFanSantaMonica

we got swept in 4 last year didn’t we?

  • LIMetfan22

No we won the last game

  • Shaun

I can see TDA having a series. He’s been making solid contact and in Coors line outs can turn into home runs quick

  • LIMetfan22

Indeed but their offense is a different animal so far this year…Then again so is our pitching

  • MetsFanSantaMonica

so before last year we had been 5-3 2010-2012

  • KennyandtheMets

It would be GREAT to see DW bust out!!

  • oleosmirf

    probably Wheeler too

  • LIMetfan22

    Yup

  • KennyandtheMets

They have lefties going in games 2 and 3? I bet Grandy gets one of those games off.

  • billpulsipher

this is how the OF should STAY

  • metsfan130

    True

  • IndianaMet

I wouldn’t do that if Wheeler went too. Touchy but I always have that post-Coors field performance phobia.

  • NewYorkMammoths

  • MyasDaddy

Is that the sound of happiness?

  • WilponsNeed2Go

This four game series, against arguably the best hitting team and arguably the most hitter friendly park in baseball, will be a true test of how great our pitching really is.

  • QueensRussell

I’m ok with EY in a reduced capacity. He’s super-athletic, but he doesn’t hit well. His fielding fundamentals often seem off, but he has a strong arm and is capable of making great OF plays. We will all miss him on the basepaths. However, if Grandy were really to tank, I’d switch them till Grandy gets hot. Hopefully, this never becomes an issue. I really hope Chris Young contributes frequently. JLag is the only OF I have real confidence in for the moment. Here’s hoping he just keeps getting better!!!

    LGM!!!

  • Anthony

    I’d take a split here

  • billpulsipher

75 and sunny in NY and Yankee stadium looks empty…gee I wonder if they will write a letter and call their fans out

  • metsfan79

    Eyj has a strong arm?

  • MyasDaddy

That was the first thing I noticed too

  • Hitmanᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ ✔
  • MyasDaddy

Oh damnit! I’m out of diesel. I can’t watch the game ripped tonight.

  • Tommy Med

    that makes one of us

  • Taskmaster4450

Watching Balt-Pitt game…Ike still cant hit a curveball.

  • Shaun

Thursday is my “wife’s at work, Mets are on” drinking day….incoherent comments are about an hour away

  • WilponsNeed2Go

Maybe Ike should start praying to Jobo to “take fear from bats”…

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gndH9mhHPk0&feature=player_detailpage

  • Pedro’s Rooster

Agreed. A great way to overcome this is to spend time thinking about an upcoming decision; critically evaluate the different choices; and then pick the best option.

When it comes time to explain why, you actually have content to share. He could make his own job easier by trying to think a little more often.

  • tierlifer

0-5 with 2 K’s today and down to .179. Crickets and radio silence from everyone bashing Sandy for that trade. Especially the NY beat writers

  • Taskmaster4450

He is in the middle of an 0-21 skid. That will put a hurting on a BA this time of year.

We will see if Ike becomes the productive hitter we saw glimpses of or the sub .200 hitter we saw more often.

  • Pedro’s Rooster

Do you think we would’ve felt the same way if he played in the Internet Age? Or would everyone be dumping on him and saying we should trade for a better-hitting SS?

  • Metropolitan

also crickets from the Ike lovers/Duda haters on this very blog

  • tierlifer

I’m fairly confident as to what the Pirates and their fans will see when the dust settles.

  • E1Guapo

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss…

  • jason bay

    I hope so.

  • Taskmaster4450

I think playing in that cracker box in Pitt, Ike will get his fair share of HRs.

  • Metropolitan

Is that Granderson walking back to the dugout after striking out?

  • Taskmaster4450

They were vocal when Ike hit that pop fly HR in Pitt not realizing that was a F9 in Citi.

  • MyasDaddy

    Willing to share? Ha!

  • tierlifer

    That too

  • QueensRussell

Well, true, he has an IF’s arm more than an OF’s, but he throws fairly accurately.

  • E1Guapo

We also lead the league in strongly worded open letters to fans

  • MyasDaddy

I really wholeheartedly believe this is our best team with the lineup constructed the way it is right now.

  • PessiMets

Hahahha! Classic! I wish i had one of those days!

  • MyasDaddy

OT: I believe our IF and starting pitching is better than the Yanks.

  • Pedro’s Rooster

Neutral colors and I try to sit in the gentrified sections.

The issues I’ve always seen are what I call “little b!tch” moves. Food/beer anonymously thrown at people, mouthing at Mets fans who have kids or are like 65, and harassing in groups.

I have no ability to handle such situations productively. And I know the instant I hit one of them, 10 will be on me. Remember that ballpark beating death (David Sale) a few years back? That’s the MO. They’re cowards.

  • pastline63

In all fairness Ike has been playing hurt since he got here. He________________________________________ during batting practice.

  • TPT

honestly??? i dont think i heard too many bashing that trade most of us were relieved the musical chair game at first was over finally

  • Taskmaster4450

I have to watch on the Seattle feed…the Yankee announcers are awful.

  • MetsPedes

No, not talking about injuries. Talking that he has to “compete” with the rest of the OF for “playing time”, when all he’s been is plain and simple our best outfielder.
And just remember that at the beginning of the year, Lagares was going to “share” or “platoon” in the OF, if it wasn’t was CY injuring that 1st game. And it was because of that Lagares took advantage of it.
Lagares should be penciled in CF EVERY DAY, unless he really struggles for A LONG PERIOD OF TIME. He’s the youngest, and who has the higher ceiling of them all. He’s a GG outfielder with a CANNON of arm, and if he just can “sustain” the hitting, there’s no telling how good he can be.

  • Taskmaster4450

    TPT,

There was the loud vocal minority like usual.

  • Pedro’s Rooster

    soils himself?
    stretches his groin?
    What are you looking for?

  • SCalNTMetfan

Just my 2cents… I like this line up…. 2 more cents I hope Colon can throw grounders

  • I can’t believe that he’s the State Farm spokesman now. Great baseball movie.

  • MyasDaddy

How are they? Dave Niehaus was good I thought. Fly away!

  • E1Guapo

    He mostly throws fastballs

  • Shaun

Macklemore has a song called “My Oh My” about Dave Niehaus. Definitely worth listening to. (My brother is a Mariners fan)

  • They have always sucked. Last time they had a great broadcast crew was Messer, White and Scooter. That team was awesome.

  • MyasDaddy

    OH SH#@ That is him!

  • mad met

    I hate them both equally

  • Taskmaster4450

Damn Joe making me feel old…that had to be 30 years ago.

  • KennyandtheMets

    Good question! Not sure.

  • Taskmaster4450

I dont know who the announcers are but they seem okay so far. I only watched about an inning so hard to judge. The Yankee announcers are like Nyquil…they will put you to sleep.

  • Pedro’s Rooster

    Pipe down, Sandy Lover! 😉

  • When I was a kid we only had one 19 inch tv. My brother and sister were Yankees fans and me and my dad were Mets fans. So on many nights we’d fight over the two games going back and forth between channels. Those were great times.

  • MetsfanInParadise

They also had a lot to talk about-the Bronx Zoo

  • mad met

    Or both 🙂

  • jason bay

    LOL.

    I wouldn’t mind that at all 🙂

  • Skip

I’m one of the ones that thought IKE should’ve been kept. Hopefully Duda proves me wrong….waiting….Still think IKE can turn it around esp. In Pitt.
Btw not a Duda hater tho

  • Ted Danson

Ahh nice to see some bud dies out there!

  • Skip

Wow TC can put a “good” line up together. Let’s see how they do. LGM!

  • BronxMets

LOL you had a 19 inch we had about a 15 B&W. Broke the channel turner had to use the key for our skates.

  • It will be a long time until we hear Alex run rampant and calling everyone who disagrees with him Sandy Lovers.

I absolutely hate having to ban anyone and I liked the guy and admired his passion. But he crossed the line today and I had to act.

It sucks that he forced me to finally ban him but I gave him innumerable opportunities to tone down his antics.

  • BronxMets

Ike needs to hit like we know he can……..

  • Skip

The radio team really sucks. Susan or whatever her name is has the worst voice ever! She makes nails on a chalk board sound peaceful! Damn Wfan!

  • Taskmaster4450

That short RF should be mighty attractive to Ike in Pitts.

  • E1Guapo

    The core was rotten?

  • ColoradoMetsFan

Although I want nothing more than to see the Mets toy with the Rockies, altitude has a way of sneaking up on you. I speak from years of having never fully acclimated…

  • Taskmaster4450

    All State.

  • LOL great job on the ingenuity and resourcefulness. I bet you were a big MacGyver fan.

  • Ted Danson

I missed it what was the last straw?

  • everybodysbuddy

besides the defense, and scrappiness, what made me a Harrelson fan was his perfect bunts perfectly placed between the first baseman and pitcher. It pulled the first baseman off the bag, and he’d always beat the pitcher to the bag. I always thought that if Reyes could bunt like Harrelson, and could read the pitcher like Harrelson, he would have been the best SS possible. Harrelson didn’t have the physical tools of Reyes, but he could really play the game!

  • I can’t stand her voice either.

  • Skip

Should be perfect for him. That trade should be the best thing for him. Now he just has to do the job!

  • Ted Danson
  • MyasDaddy

    Was it that bad?

  • Erin_II

Nobody can claim that you didn’t give him more than his share of chances. Hope he can resolve his issues.

  • KennyandtheMets

Buddy had great fundies (as Keith would say)

  • Skip

Laying down the law. Joe D “Silver”

  • jason bay

    Alex has been DFA’d?

That’s a shame I thought he was starting to come around.

Hope he doesn’t become yet another future All Star we have cast adrift like so many in the past.

Hope we can pick him back up at the deadline or at least the off season.

Chances of Keith bringing a bong to the SNY booth tonight?

  • Ted Danson

    Jack Dalton anybody?

  • I thought it was very bad. I have a long rope for leniency and tolerance, but nobody should ever be called a racist or anti Latino for simply preferring one player over another.

Our goal here is for fans to express a wide range of opinions about the team we all love, but nobody should ever be called a racist based on who bats where in the lineup or any other baseball conversation.

  • MLBGM Fire TC

I still dont like duda, hope we get a good 1b one day

I was wondering if he was actually a Hall of Fame troll (and I mean that as a compliment).

He played his role perfectly here, and I was starting to believe it was some sort of Andy Kaufman-style act. Every so often, he came across as a little too sharp for his #CORE beliefs, almost like he was breaking character.

He certainly got everyone fired up, and kept the comments section lively. I’ll pour out a 40 of Sandy Juice tonight in his honor.

  • Shaun

we can’t get him without giving up Noah i think. and his home away splits are scary

  • Pedro’s Rooster

    Nice work, Jinx! 🙂

  • metsfan130

I cringe every time I see a fly ball hit by the Rockies at this park.

  • Ted Danson

Oh man another Colon hit parade on the horizon?

  • MLBGM Fire TC

Yea he is guy is sick, maybe we can swing a trade for him???? Trying to be positive

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Right-Opening Day was in March

  • Taskmaster4450

Anything in the air has a chance there.

  • MyasDaddy

Keith is right. He has to keep that ball down tonight!

  • Metropolitan

    Colon is murdering us…

  • El_Verdadero_Presidente

Why the hell are they fooling around low and in on that guy in the first place?

  • Charley’s Twin

Hillside Honda’s new rap commercial…….just, wow.

  • HarveyKsYou

    Jokes getting old.

  • Shaun

1 bomb to a legit hitter doesn’t kill us. Still in it

  • Taskmaster4450

Down and in to Cargo and its over the RF fence.

    So much for that theory.

  • MLBGM Fire TC

    Wheeler, murphy, puelo and matz

  • Taskmaster4450

    Tulo is hitting like .350.

He kills a lot of teams.

  • Pedro’s Rooster

I prefer Cindy from Lee Toyota.

  • Metropolitan

after the Anaheim debacle I don’t trust Colon at all

  • mad met

Now that is a cleanup hitter

  • Charley’s Twin

beautiful or not, that’s clearly meant to be a yankee uniform

  • bspo1

This could be a very high scoring game

  • MyasDaddy

Obviously lefties happy zone is down and in. But he left balls up to Blackmon and Tulo as well. And they were hit hard.

  • MetsfanInParadise

A couple of years later I had to eat a joint of crippy when I got stopped. My last one, too!

  • HarveyKsYou

Duda clean shaved.. It’s been a long time since Duda wasn’t at least stubble.. Same can be said about Ike.

  • Hotstreak

Keith is right Cargo he gets his whole body into the swing. DW can learn from him. Believe it or not I am a big TdA critic but his swing is not that different. Its a matter of bat speed.

  • Metropolitan

Mets can’t even hit home runs in Coors field…hopeless I tell you hopeless

  • MetsfanInParadise

Warning track power, wherever we are. Uncanny

  • metsfan130

Of course the Colorado effect doesn’t work for us.

  • PessiMets

Warning track power no matter what stadium

  • Jgreen

That was opposite field. Relax guys

  • MyasDaddy

Hmm.. never noticed that on TDA, I will have to really follow tonight.

  • HarveyKsYou

Know we’ll truly know we’re cursed when Grandy hits the warning track 4-5 times in this series..

  • MLBGM Fire TC

Sure is always liked him, i have had him on my fantasy team since he hot into mlb

  • RyanF55

    At the game…LGM!

  • Run Support Group

Everything is scorched against Nicasio so far

  • MetsfanInParadise

    EVERY ball has been smoked.

  • metsfan130

Lets go Grandy I expect big things this series.

  • Shaun

CY is on the ball right now

  • MLBGM Fire TC

    Lol

  • MetsfanInParadise

Read some articles today showing how bad our luck has been-high line drive rates, low BABIP. Tejada especially

  • MyasDaddy

Really pulling for Granderson. More than I ever did Bay. Really want him to get going!

  • Run Support Group

Take the bat off your shoulder curtis

  • mad met

Yes out of town ..this guy needs a tennis racket

  • Killer seats.

  • MyasDaddy

    You there too?

  • Run Support Group

    Ugh

  • mad met

    This guy sucks

  • MetsfanInParadise

    F–k!

  • Skip

    I’m jealous. Enjoy man

  • HarveyKsYou

I don’t get how he comes here and sucks… You played for the Yankees.. He came over in a big trade.. There was pressure then as well.

  • Shaun

    oppotaco TDA lets go

  • Charley’s Twin

I’m feeling an Oppo Taco here

  • Run Support Group

I have a bad feeling about this series…Idk just feel it’s gonna be a bad one. Let’s just hope they can split

  • Kian Momeni

I don’t see why keith doesn’t just tell all the hitters how to fix their swing

  • Run Support Group

    Nice CU

  • Nope I’m in NH.

  • MetsfanInParadise

Travis is hitting .286 in his last 10

  • Charley’s Twin

    ok, scratch that

  • Run Support Group

Lol please let this be sarcastic

  • wwdwd

Mayb is time to bat grandy behind the pitcher

  • PessiMets

He was about the 5th best hitter on those teams, he’s the second best on this one much more pressure

  • wwdwd

Idk y but I feel it to

  • MetsfanInParadise

Casey Stengel was once asked why his pitcher couldn’t keep the ball down during the game…

  • PessiMets

    With absolutely no power

  • El_Verdadero_Presidente

If I’m one of these suckers retrieving those light beers I pee in the bottle.

  • MetsfanInParadise

    For one team, anyway

  • wwdwd

    Think of me 😉

  • Chuck

    Glad to hear it! LGM!

  • Denelor

Because above all we want him to consistently do the right thing.

He manages like he’s playing blindfolded darts. Sure, he’ll hit the bulls-eye every once in a while but usually the game ends up with some poor guy getting a dart in the arm.

  • wwdwd

Idk they don’t do that either the guy knows wat he’s talkin about

  • MyasDaddy

    Boy Rube… keep it up!

  • Kian Momeni

    lol “Senor Colon”

  • mad met

Maybe time to sit on bench for a month

  • Joe

Tejada looks good defensively this year

  • MyasDaddy

Gotta tip your cap. He’s been good defensively

  • MetsfanInParadise

500 comments before the game even started. Might be a new non-rain-delay record?

  • Shaun

to put it in perspective, metsblog has 212 comments total..

  • wwdwd

I wish but that won’t happen if we were the yankees then we would no that the best 9 guys will b playing

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Amazin’Avenue regularly has high tallies

  • Shaun

I like AA. I don’t frequent there as much as I should

  • There is a long time crew at AA that post the crap out of the games. There regular articles don’t get a ton of comments but the game threads are FAST.

  • MetsfanInParadise

    I’ve noticed that

  • MetsfanInParadise

That’s where I found the link to the GKR smoking game today

  • MyasDaddy

    He is out!

  • Joe

    Doesn’t SNY sponsor Metsblog?

  • Metropolitan

I think it was too close to challenge though

  • wwdwd

I use to really like metsblog but lately matt cerone pisses me off

  • Good guys over there and trolls don’t last long at all.

  • NYM86

Rather have Nicasio at the plate than Graderson

  • Metropolitan

    lardball….

  • Anthony

    Cmon

  • Ted Danson

    IDK man not cool.

  • MetsfanInParadise

How else could Cerrone be in charge?

  • E1Guapo

That’s it, you’re banned from the clubhouse

  • PessiMets

I had a feeling that was going to happen

  • Charley’s Twin

That moment when you remember you have work tomorrow….

  • You would think that a FB only pitcher would thrive in Colorado

  • NYM86

And I was typing this before he got that hit.

  • bspo1

He should bat cleanup for the mets

  • Joe

    Game over

  • Metropolitan

    oh my god…smh

  • mikeyknows

not a good matchup for colon

  • Fuck it’s goddamn beer league out there

  • Charley’s Twin

    Shades of 1962 there

  • PessiMets

Yeah here r the mets we all knew were going to show up

  • Awesome. Over the years, we’ve taken our kids to a good number of the stadiums around the country and Colorado is one of the few remaining that I really want to get to.

  • Lately?

  • bspo1

Terrible could be 10-0 by the 5th

  • E1Guapo

    Without the beer, big difference

  • Joe

Colon is literally the worst pitcher in our rotation

  • HarveyKsYou

Games over. They have the hitting in a hitters ballpark and we have decent pitching in a hitters park; not a match.

  • Metropolitan

We got Colon for two years folks..thanks Sandy

  • SNY owns MB. and it’s brought to you by Verizon.

  • MetsfanInParadise

Their pitcher now has more hits this year than our entire pitching staff

  • AJF

I really wish they signed Colon just for 1 yr instead of 2

  • JerseyCityMetsFan

Yup, we hit rockets all over the field no runs

These bums have 3 runs cause the pitcher hits a double(should’ve been)

Seen this too many times folks, “baseball gods” chose a side today and it ain’t us.

Time to light it and go watch x-men cartoons

  • wwdwd

Wen ever the fans actaully get excited about this team nd may start going to games they start to suck nd remind us not to spend any money on this tesm owell atleast I no I don’t have to stay up tonite watching this joke of a franchise

  • BarnRat

It’s getting late early, but have faith. Statistically the offense has to emerge at some point. Maybe tonight.

  • bspo1

    That’s why you shouldn’t over a month.

  • MetsfanInParadise

Except for LA he came in with a 2.33 ERA

  • iwamofo

Already giving up on the game and its the 2nd inning? Yea this team isn’t right for you.

  • HarveyKsYou

I’m hoping Tulo is In a mets jersey at the end of the year..

  • Fast Eddie

    lol! Ok good!

  • LIKayLGM

People declaring the “game over” in the bottom of the 2nd and then are insulted about being called out to be better fans?

  • bspo1

Except LA happened and this is happening.

  • El_Verdadero_Presidente

No offense, brothers, but we’ve got about half a dozen “fans” here I don’t care to hear from ever again.

  • Royalty check is on the way.

  • Skip

It took two years to have the privilege of him on our team. Hopefully at the trade deadline the two years will net more return.

  • bspo1

That being said I think he’s good for this team

  • igotyourbackman

Crikey. Get the f out of here if the game is over for you. Sheesh. LGM!

  • JerseyCityMetsFan

Yeah I’m a terrible fan, I always turn off the game when the opposition scores in the first two innings !!!

    PS… Not true

  • Joe

Our offense simply can’t come back from this deficit. It’s the truth. We can only win with our pitching.

  • You get to Disney yet?

  • AJF

    Never know lets hope so

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

Guys were averaging 4 runs a game remember?

  • Charley’s Twin

At least we have the Dial 6 jingle. I like that one

  • MyasDaddy

Baseball is a marathon, not a sprint.

  • Joe

    AKA realistic fans

  • JerseyCityMetsFan

Two years were the smart move. His value is trade bait anyways

  • wwdwd

As long as the rockies r in it they won’t trade him nd the mets wouldn’t trade for him anyway

  • Manager of The Year

While he fills 2 big holes on this team he has 136 mill on his deal too much for the Wilpons. Also he only has a .814 OPS away from home. You would give up talent worth Coors Tulo not Citi Tulo

  • E1Guapo

I still remember when we chased Smoltz (when he was a closer) and ended up scoring 9 runs on the Atlanta bullpen in one inning, anything is possible

  • Taskmaster4450

Did you realistically predict 15 wins in April?

  • HarveyKsYou

Nicasio is a big boy. By Colons age he’ll be just as big.

  • Skip

    Feeling the “love” in here

  • BarnRat

And just to manage expectations, the come-back probably doesn’t start with Tejada and Colon…

  • Joe

We can’t come back from this deficit. if our pitching implodes, the game is over. We don’t have the offense.

  • wwdwd

Well actually sice alderson took over ifeel like crone has a hard on for sandy

  • Shaun

    #burn

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

You never know with the mets..

  • Waz0787

Hmmm why am I seeing that idiot barron tweets here?

  • MetsfanInParadise

“No offense” is exactly what we’ve got

  • Waz0787

    Our offense is pathetic.

  • Mr.Metropolitan

Go root for some other team then. Plenty of game left and you can’t win them all. Every comment you have is negative.

  • Skip

That was a fun night. Take that, dumb tomahawk chop!!!

  • AJF

Yeah had a blast! Wish it were warmer it was around 70 and overcast but a 100% better then the weather here! Got to see Mets play the Braves in Disney there 7th inning song was thank God I’m a country boy lol. Thanks for asking

  • Waz0787

I hope I am not one of them

  • Joe

That’s inaccurate. A few posts ago I complimented Tejada on his defense.

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Our offense is offensive

  • HarveyKsYou

Offense looks good. Meanwhile, the Rockies have hit bullets against Colon.

  • BarnRat

Nice real time slo-mo on that play

  • LIKayLGM

claiming to be “realistic” fan is just an arrogant way of saying “my opinion is better than yours”. I don’t know if they will come back to win this game, but as a fan I hope. That’s all.

  • Taskmaster4450

He is shaping up like CC.

  • MetsfanInParadise

No surprise, it was an idiotic comment too

  • Shaun

Can we all agree to chug a beer when Colon gets his first hit? The ultimate drinking game.

  • PessiMets

As easy a 2 outs as there is in baseball

  • billpulsipher

glad sandy gave 20 mil to Colon instead of Abreu…the genius strikes again

  • Taskmaster4450

The Beer companies wont make much money on that one.

  • BronxMets

    UHF Correct

  • Joe

I hope so too. It’s just hard to believe it with our offense. What’s wrong with saying that?

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

Your not talking about Tejada are you??

  • BronxMets

    Big time McGyver fan…..

  • BurnInHellWilpons

    well stay sober forever

  • MyasDaddy

He will get a hold of one soon. It will be legit.

  • E1Guapo

That drinking game would be endorsed by MADD

  • Well I think that coincides with SNY buying him out but he has always been very positive and very non-committal with any stance on a issue.

Back in the day it was a good place to get that breaking news. With Twitter and the work people like Adam Rubin I think his site is obsolete. If you want any opinion pieces or in depth stat breakdowns, he has never provided that and MMO and AA do a fabulous job with that type of content.

  • BronxMets

    That’s hysterical run with it

  • Selltheteam06

    worry about granderson not colon

  • MetsfanInParadise

    That’d be worth a KEG!

  • Shaun

    hahahahahahaha This comment was awesome

  • HarveyKsYou

Colons going to have to stop the bleeding.. The offense looks dead yet again.

  • El_Verdadero_Presidente

There’s no doubt which team got in at 5 and scored 3 hours’ sleep by noon.

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

Ok It’s 3 innings calm down

  • bspo1

Maybe David will start to hit this road trip. Hit the ball hard first ab. I’d like to see some power though.

  • Skip

    Bench him, bring in EY…..

  • billpulsipher

TC “We arent scoring tonight because the great EY isnt playing”

  • Taskmaster4450

Well then why dont you go root for the Marlins and their offense.

I am sure you were wrong about how the Mets would do in April so it is possible your are wrong about this.

  • BronxMets

ok so Hope and Predictions are 2 different things..

  • Or chug whenever he swings his helmet off.

  • JerseyCityMetsFan

I would love to know what makes you a “better fan “, whatever that means..

  • wwdwd

I realy wish we signed byrd nd hudson instead of colon nd granderson that would of saved us 42 mil nd mayb we would have drew at ss rite now

  • mikeyknows

this is one of the worst hitting mets teams in their history.

  • Metropolitan

    Colon is horrible..just horrible

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

Ok we have to score like 10 runs tonight just so we can say we scored 10 runs today because EY is not playing

  • BronxMets

we have the most comebacks in the majors………..Face Palm!!!!!!!

  • Dice-K may get some extended innings today.

  • NYM86

Colorado’s offense makes ours look like AA by comparison.

  • igotyourbackman

But we didn’t so why mention it in a game thread?

  • BronxMets

I hope he is by Sunday.

  • JerseyCityMetsFan

You just said your a better fan. Same arrogance different word

  • billpulsipher

can all the sandy lovers talk about letroy Hawkins dominating at closer, balfour dominating in Tampa and K Rod dominating with the Brewers, while the Mets are bleeding to death at closer….

  • Metropolitan

I guess it does rival some of those putrid hitting teams of the late 70’s early 80’s

  • Taskmaster4450

    Balfour?

He turned down the Mets offer.

And you dont know KRod wasnt offered a contract…he turned down a number of offers to sign with the Brewers.

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

So if colon hit a ball to LF what are the odds of him getting thrown out at first?

  • Andrew Herbst

    Nice dp.

  • igotyourbackman

    Nice dp

  • wwdwd

I thought that was the point of this website

  • And there’s the MMO turning point of the game.

  • MetsfanInParadise

can we stop worrying about who is or isn’t a “Sandy Lover’ and focus on the game action? The finger-pointing gets really annoying

  • what’s there to speak of? We probably should’ve signed Latroy. We offered Balfour $16mm – not how much more you want to give a reliever when we already had a closer and K-Rod is a basket case who was very shaky when he left NY.

Sandy Haters – love showing off the dumb

  • Mcgrupp81

Nice turn there boys. The Mets offense will come around this game.

  • Joe

I’m a Mets fan…. I can be realistic about my team and speak how I feel. it doesn’t make me a bad fan.

  • 3 – 2.

  • SchadenfreudianSlip

Bleeding to death at closer? Really?

  • BarnRat

    Double A or Alcoholics Anonymous

  • Waz0787

Ganderson and colon are epic busts. This is ridiculous. Alderson has a thing for PED users. We should have gotten hudson instead. Nate Mclouth would have been upgrade over ganderson. I rather kirk in right than ganderson.

  • Novito

I really despise Met fans who do nothing but just complain about EVERYTHING! Colon having a rough start and he “sucks” or sandy should’ve signed Abreu, etc. We ALL Already Know That! Its fans like y’all that just make it more depressing. I understand frustration but some of y’all are some straight up divas. Carry on. LGM! ✊

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    Stop just STOP

  • Taskmaster4450

Hey the Mental Midget showed up.

  • billpulsipher

K Rod wanted to come back and they could have upped their offer to Balfour

  • And never mind about the turning point. Nothing like risking an injury with a boneheaded play.

  • PessiMets

Don’t worry Duda will make it up with his bat

  • Shaun

Alright I’m in…Let’s do this Bartolo

  • Skip

Ha. I don’t understand but it’s still funny.

  • Mcgrupp81

I have to imagine it was mentioned earlier in this thread, but it doesn’t help that the team got in at 5AM. That’s total garbage by the MLB.

  • bspo1

    Met killer

  • billpulsipher

unless you think Dice K and Farnsworth are the answer…yes, bleeding to death

  • igotyourbackman

This is a game thread. Watch the game and comment on the action.

  • didn’t take long for the tedious and dim “fans” to get all excited and vociferous. Please tie it up so they’ll crawl back into their holes, fellas

  • Joe

    Come on offense

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    Their “caves”

  • MyasDaddy

Morneau looking like a good cheap sign for the Rockies.

  • igotyourbackman

    This^^^^

  • pick any – literally ANY of his posts at random and you’ll get it

  • Yeah, stupid scheduling. I think TC is head of that committee.

  • Taskmaster4450

These fans are turning this place into:

    MMO..mental midgets online.

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

Can you imagine TC as GM LOL

  • yeah – $20,000,000/2 years for a set up man sounds good to me

  • billpulsipher

this 4 game set will be a disaster, then all the people drinking the kool aid and taking bows after a 15-11 april wont have anything to say

  • Taskmaster4450

What suddenly you are rooting for the team?

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    lmfao

  • Alright, big inning now. Good time for some bats to wake up and pickup the big man.

  • HarveyKsYou

That’s not nice, I’m sure there’s a lot of drunks in this thread.

  • Novito

Yea its ridiculous. They need to get ousted. Buncha divas!

  • Joe

    ……yes? When wasn’t I?

  • mr. belvedere

    Isn’t Balfour’s era like 6 something?

  • KMO82

    It’s little people lol.

  • Selltheteam06

upvoting your own comments is cool!

  • Novito

    Troll much?

  • sperry

The splits don’t even suggest a coors inflation.

    Glad we got Duda though!

  • LIKayLGM

Read it again, because that was not said

  • MyasDaddy

    Alex?

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

Let’s score a couple this inning!

  • KMO82

Why are you watching? Why waste your time?

  • Andrew Herbst

He would just say everybody is a baseball player and that EY, Baxter, and Turner should play every day.

  • billpulsipher

bad offense in coors field against a team that scores a ton=bad results

  • Skip

You can’t call them Midgets any more. The PC word is “Little people” Jesh come on get with it.

  • HarveyKsYou

Where’s Scott Hairston when you need him?

  • Run Support Group

  • Novito

Nah fam you sound like a diva not a fan

  • Run Support Group

Oh the uproar on here that Alderson and the Mets couldnt even afford $8M for Hairston over two years.

    Now where are they?

  • Run Support Group

3 innings. And the teams we had in past years didn’t have pitvhing like this

  • E1Guapo

Where are the Japanese groundskeepers from Major League when you need them?

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    Thats the sad part ;(

  • because they’ve had the same team since Coors Field opened and never had powerful offenses. Sandy Hater Logic, ladies and germs

  • HarveyKsYou

45 pitches through the fourth in a hitters park.. And the pitcher isn’t good. Ugh

  • Manager of The Year

  • Here comes a HR.

  • wwdwd

  • Taskmaster4450

We’re on pace for 4 hits at Coors. Ouch

  • Manager of The Year

We are in Coors and besides the hit by Lagares and some line outs we aren’t making any hard contact. Not even deepish fly balls

  • E1Guapo

Perhaps it was lasagna night for the pre-game meal?

  • igotyourbackman

Well, maybe pass the Red Bull around… What’d they all have the fish on the flight out to Denver? LGM!

  • MetsfanInParadise

    It’s NOT an STD

  • billpulsipher

Ike hitting .179 for the Bucs, Turner hitting .160 for LA, Thole hitting under .200 for Tor, Pelfrey with an 8 ERA for Min…all these former Mets guys are other teams worst players…interesting

  • Taskmaster4450

I think he is on the Nationals bench.

  • JerseyCityMetsFan

Someone do a running tally to see how many times that big mac commercial plays a game

  • metsman

I think games are a lot more fun to watch when both teams are playing….awake.

  • Run Support Group

Closers are an outdated relic of the past. “saves” are a useless stat that should be thrown to the wayside like wins.

Come on Alex, I know you’re in there. Call me a saber nerd!

  • Taskmaster4450

The guy has a career year and Alderson was an idiot for letting him go.

Never resign a guy after a career year.

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    5 so far…

  • Novito

    Well that was intense

  • wwdwd

Ya this is going to be a blow I’m turn on keeping up with the kardashians have a good nite guys nd grls

  • Mcgrupp81

Perhaps it was getting in at 5AM after probably waiting around for hours in the airport lounge. You know this stuff happens. They come out flat and it’s just a throw away game. Still, they are not putting up much of a fight.

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

its 3-0 were avging 4Runs/G and were in cors field…

  • KMO82

I live in Florida so that commercial is all lies to me lol.

  • I already did and I have to tell you that it is not easy to type with my toes.

  • E1Guapo

    “Voting has changed, learn more”

  • QueensRussell

The approaches at the plate are garbage. Nicasio who has nothing special is making us look like crap.

  • Charley’s Twin

not a surprise they’re flagging tonight–they got in at a ridiculous hour last night, rainout nothwithstanding.

  • ArchieBellandTheDrells

Someone needs to tell me what Hudgens does on the mets. I’m pretty sure not one player has improved offensively under his tutelage. It seems like keith points out an issue every game and what does Hudgens do? Maybe he points it out too, but it doesn’t seem like it when they all have the same mistakes every game.

  • Manager of The Year

I just lost all respect for you

  • HarveyKsYou

Just watch her sex tape if you can deal with seeing another male (gross). I don’t know how anyone watches these celebrity reality shows.

  • or is it?

  • El_Verdadero_Presidente

    Finally found your niche.

  • MetsfanInParadise

I believe it was a charter and it was undoubtedly a weather-related delay. Mets luck. I was afraid the Phillies would delay calling the game just to keep the Mets in Philly longer. Didn’t have to.

  • KMO82

Duda looks like he needs more sleep.

  • Charley’s Twin

God Duda is such a clown

  • Mcgrupp81

    Wow

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

NO JUST NO COLON HUSTLE YOU BUM

  • QueensRussell

    Is Duda a fielding idiot?!

  • HarveyKsYou

    Yeah, this is a loss.

  • BarnRat

    That’s what did it?

  • bringbakbenitez

Wat the mets need to do is trde wheeler nd duda for mornuo he would give us some power

  • This is getting a little embarrassing.

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    GET out

  • ok bye

  • bspo1

    Great job mets.

  • Metropolitan

We should probably start getting used to those now

  • E1Guapo

Slow movements, lack of coordination, increased appetite…did the Mets get some brownies before the game?

  • MetsfanInParadise

He panics a bit. He doesn’t have enough time in there to know when to hold the ball

  • igotyourbackman

Don’t know why but I’m not really worried. Gotta believe. And it’s just one game. LGM!

  • Joe

Apparently, you’re a “bad” fan if you feel like this, and fellow Mets fans have no interest in hearing from you ever again just for expressing how you feel.

  • bringbakbenitez

Also, I don’t know about you guys but if we don’t do that let’s jus give morales a 5 year deal

  • Tommy Med

Just by that name I can tell ur a wannabe troll or a jacka$$

  • saturn

    wut?

  • BurnInHellWilpons

does anyone else hear.. ” pitchers got a big butt ” ?

  • MetsfanInParadise

You can only guess about the appetite, unless you can see an enormous pile of sunflower seed shells in the dugout

  • metsman

    Dykstra is licking his chops

  • There’s a Colon joke in there but I will not touch it.

  • NYM86

Nickeas batting .139 in AAA lol

  • HarveyKsYou

    Unbelievable.

  • Are you saying it because, you know, we can’t hear you.

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

you have got to be kidding me

  • Metropolitan

    meltdown warning

  • QueensRussell

    Bartman is done!

  • Taskmaster4450

Do you think Terry would have someone up in the BP?

It is obvious Colon doesnt have it.

  • Super T

Everybody likes keeping up with our exes, so here’s a little preview from today’s action of what we’re missing –
    Ike Davis 1-7 batting .190
    Jose Reyes 0-4 batting .180
Mike Pelfrey gave up 5 ER in 4IP 7.99 ERA

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

Why are you even pitching up there when its a 1-2 count it should be low if not in the dirt

  • Andrew Herbst

    TC should get someone warming.

  • bringbakbenitez

Benitez was one of the best clsers the mets have ever had we just over worked him when the ws came along

  • BurnInHellWilpons

no im not at coors field. good one though

  • OriginalMetsFan

Colon just doesn’t have it tonight. Let’s call it a night…..

  • I’m going to say that this is not good.

  • bspo1

It was either philly or here, either way he was going to get lit up in these parks.

  • saturn

Dickey hasnt been that interesting either for 2 years now

  • Metropolitan

    wheels about to be off

  • Taskmaster4450

Reyes just got off the DL.

He hasnt had many ABs this year.

  • MetsfanInParadise

Benitez racked up a lot of saves but seemed to choke in the big games

  • HarveyKsYou

This guy has hit the ball harder than Granderson has his entire mets career.

  • MyasDaddy

    Wow

  • Waz0787

    Don’t write any negative comments.

  • NIce shot by the pitcher. Nice play by Lagares. Of course. How do we ever sit him, assuming he continues hitting?

  • Super T

I know he ain’t been helping my fantasty squad at all so far.

  • Taskmaster4450

Not only with the Mets…he did that elsewhere also.

  • KMO82

    Blackmon looks like Helton.

  • Joe

    Lagares is damn good

  • saturn

“Duda…well hes a very sensitive guy”

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

At the end of the inning it WILL be 6-0 sorry 🙁

  • PessiMets

Rockies pitcher has hit the ball harder than any met has since the 1st inning

  • JerseyCityMetsFan

Nice looking prostitute in the front row

  • QueensRussell

Would never want Reyes back at this point. He’s a half-time player at best for whatever career he has left.

  • You recognize her?

  • Taskmaster4450

Collins isnt bright enough to have someone up and pull the SP when the Mets are still in it.

He will wait until they are buried before making a move.

  • Metropolitan

That is really tough because we as Mets fans are known to be negative by nature..

  • Taskmaster4450

    A family member?

  • Charley’s Twin

sometimes it’s not your night, and that’s ok.

  • It’s time.

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

Wow just Wow does granderson have a arm at all ???

  • Manager of The Year

Well atleast that RBI helps my fantasy team

  • metsman

The Rockies have learned to lay off the sensi on game days but me thinks Met players are feeling the Rocky Mountain high.

  • HarveyKsYou

So I guess when Colon doesn’t have it he’s just going to give up 8 runs.. Jeez.

  • El_Verdadero_Presidente

Curtis looks like he’s throwing with the wrong arm.

  • MetsfanInParadise

How long has it been since they won a game in which they allowed 5 runs-2 years?

  • Super T

With all those $20M seasons he still has left on the books, sadly I would agree.

  • Taskmaster4450

When will Terry get the BP up?

How much more evidence does he need that Colon doesnt have it?

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    NEVER

  • Metropolitan

    Metropolitan • 8 hours ago
I am worried about Jabba pitching at Coors field

  • Joe

    Noodle Arm Granderson

  • iwamofo

Sooo….that super 2 date can get here any quicker

  • QueensRussell

I can see this one going 13-1, and not in our favor!

  • MetsfanInParadise

Not in the “Hudgy” era, anyway

  • HarveyKsYou

Grandy has the worst OF arm I’ve ver seen.

  • bspo1

At least you guys on the east coast can get some sleep tonight

  • Ted Danson

    Brutal Brutal Stuff.

  • QueensRussell

    D’Arnaud looks super-crappy

  • Manager of The Year

Wait us scoring? That’s kinda funny

  • bspo1

    Good call

  • Shaun

    I’ll need another beer Sam

  • bringbakbenitez

Also we need a sswe can prob get jose reyesback for david wright straight up and we would save the much needed money we need a ss badly

  • MetsfanInParadise

Yeah, cause that tag was only about 1/10 of a second late

  • Arjun Vidudala

    duda X.X *facepalm*

  • BarnRat

Went and asked my wife is she’s interested in some together time. Answer “so the Mets are getting blown-out?”

    Long-story-short, I’m back…

  • Ted Danson

Its on the house tonight Shaun.

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

Calon better NOT go out there next inning

  • KMO82

I hope Colon can at least give us 6 at this point.

  • KMO82

    I think he will.

  • MikePiazza3186

That is the stupidest thing I’ve heard in a while

  • Joe

    Calon

  • igotyourbackman

Making prodigious use of the “collapse post” feature tonight.

  • George_Theodore

    LOL

  • Taskmaster4450

    Look at EYJ’s arm.

  • HarveyKsYou

So it’s pretty evident that when Colon doesn’t have it he’s going to get hammered.. A lot of pitchers can keep you in the game, obviously Colon can’t.

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

Guys lets keep it positive were in cores field and were not vrsing a good pitcher this could be a 2 run ball game very quickly!

  • Waz0787

People are very sensitive. You know we are a winning franchise we have a winning records. Like we have won muliple championship over past decade. Taking out vent here hard for some to read.

  • Manager of The Year

You’re just an idiot. Have you seen Reyes? He has been injured ever since he left the mets. Also he is hitting like .180 right now

  • MetsfanInParadise

To match the 6 he’s given them?

  • BurnInHellWilpons

    wilpons love fans like you.

  • saturn

I dont know. TC doesnt seem to care about Colon too much. He left him in Los Angeles to get hammered. He doesnt seem to leave his young starters to get hammered. Then he leaves Colon there to get hammered, his ERA gets inflated and he looks way worse than what he is. The bullpen is well rested. He doesnt seem to care and gives the game away

  • QueensRussell

He was in slow motion in slow motion.

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Big night for the trolls

  • Joe

Colon better be traded at somepoint this season

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    Sorry for being positive..

  • Metropolitan

Hey this is Coors field where no lead is safe…..nah not with this line up the Rockies lead is safe

  • bringbakbenitez

Ya but with the mets he would be amazing

  • metsman

Here’s hoping we make some noise at least.

  • HarveyKsYou

    We have zero power threats.

  • mad met

I dont know whats worse granderson weak a$$ arm or his batting avg. If this guy was a horse he would be put down

  • Rocky Thompson

Interested to see how Wally allocates playing time with four OFs (Puello, den Dekker, Brown and Nieuwenhuis) for three spots.

  • Shaun

hahaha I’m in the same situation….sees right through me

  • QueensRussell

    Here’s our MVP!

  • Pike Miazza

    For what…?
    A bag of Pork Rinds…?

  • Matt Mosher

    Reyes looks awful. No thanks.

  • Metropolitan

Gonna be hard with him pitching like this and that genius Alderson having a two year deal with him

  • BurnInHellWilpons

if we had a good lineup. id agree with you 100%. Unfortunately our line up is garbage.

  • KMO82

lol, Need to save the pen for the rest of the series.

  • MyasDaddy

I am convinced that 65% of the you post stoned.

  • mad met

Im with ya anthony but im going to bed

  • billpulsipher

just put Valverde in the game for 3 innings, watch him give up 8 runs and DFA him…..

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    Are you stoned?

  • KMO82

Colon needs to at least eat up some innings here lol.

  • QueensRussell

    MVP AB there.

  • Mike Lloyd

    That’s funny Barn.

  • Maybe my memory is failing me, but I could have sworn when we signed Granderson that everyone raved about his defense. I even read a bunch of articles that with Granderson and Chris Young, the Mets would have the greatest outfield defense the game had seen in years.

    So what happened?

Chris Young seems tentative on any deep fly balls and has shown poor instincts. And Granderson has looked below average.

  • KEITH

Is Greg Maddux pitching. This dude is amazing!

  • Pike Miazza

I said it in October & Ill say it again, “Sign Hudson, not any other SP”

  • Here comes a HR.

  • MyasDaddy

Yup. We can usually spot it right away.

  • Shaun

Well I did say before that it was my day to drink…

  • metsman

I bet this guy wins the CY this year…said no one ever.

  • KMO82

I still think CY’s quad is bothering him and Granderson just looks off and has no arm.

  • bspo1

The mets can’t even charter a plane correctly.

  • MyasDaddy

    You did. For sure.

  • QueensRussell

    Or a pop up!

  • saturn

Not with TC leaving him to get hammered when he doesnt have “his stuff” going on. He’s not too bad of a pitcher but when he’s off, he is off and then TC leaves him there

  • HarveyKsYou

3-1 and he pops it up.

  • Guest

Colon pitched for the As…Chris Young played for the As…see a pattern here? sandy likes his oakland As players…with their rich winning playoff history of course

  • If the fences were moved behind the plate. He looks absolutely horrible. In his best at bats.

  • Mcgrupp81

Looks like Granderson has taken the baton from Ike and really run with it.

  • Metropolitan

well at least Granderson has graduated from strikeouts to pop ups..baby steps

  • Manager of The Year

Man we need this pitcher to hit cleanup for us. Our hitting absolutely sucks

  • billpulsipher

waiting for Keith to do 20 minute dissections of every at bat like he did for 2 years with Ike

  • QueensRussell

    He eats enough already!

  • iwamofo

    *Bay

  • Joe

I think all the fans on here that crucified the fans for saying “game over” after the Rockies got a decent lead owe us an apology

  • Taskmaster4450

Hudson wasnt signing…he either was going west coast or the Braves.

Same with Josh Johnson who I wanted (good thing he wanted the West Coast being out for the year).

  • Manager of The Year

    Cargo’s constant minor injuries continue

  • Hotstreak

    Omar’s Met:(big leagues only)
Niese, Gee, Mejia,Murphy, Lagares, Duda, Satin

Alderson’s Mets (big league tem only)
Wheeler, Colon Wright (extension) Grandy Young (both of them)

  • billpulsipher

the game was over when Colon took the mound. he cant pitch in stadiums like this, you knew he was going to get pounded

  • KMO82

See how I set you up there lol.

  • George_Theodore

They should have to sign a letter or something..

  • QueensRussell

    D’Arnaud…crap

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    *Cries*

  • HarveyKsYou

Grandys arm is below average.. He gets to most balls. CY has looked terrible.

  • bspo1

    CY young right there guys.

  • PessiMets

I find it funny the ppl that blame citifield for the mets terrible hitting, the mets terrible hitters r to blame for the terrible hitting

  • iwamofo

lol poor baby wants an apology? I don’t get people that blatantly state the game is over. Just watch the game and see what happens.

  • HarveyKsYou

Bay in 2012 had an all star type year compared to granderson.

  • goorru

Ike kept changing his stance, so it was like a new hitter every game Ike got to bat.

  • Guest
  • bspo1

And the fact that Hudgens can keep his job is baffling to me.

  • Andrew Herbst

We make so many mediocre pitchers look like Cy Young winners.

  • billpulsipher

    hes a “sandy guy”

  • Blaiseda

It’s top of the 5th and the mets look flat. This is the old mets the team we’ve seen for the last 5 years. The team that gives up after they don’t meet with success early on. It’s disappointing. Not what I expected from them after that solid April. You’d think the Rockies. Pitcher was cy young. He’s throwing batting practice and the mets are not focused at all. Sorry about this mini rant. I love the mets but I’m very disappointed in them tonight. I expected more.

  • QueensRussell

Mama said there’d be days like this.

  • BarnRat

I’m going to try talking to my wife again, wish me luck

  • TheMets philosophy

“@AdamRubinESPN: Teams run at will on Curtis Granderson’s arm.”…this really scares me!!

  • igotyourbackman

Why do I think he’s throwing batting practice? I think he’s getting outs. The other team are all major leaguers too.

  • This is only one game but it is absolutely indicative of why this pace will not continue if our offense does not come around. Defense and pitching will help but, I don’t think they will give us more wins than losses without offensive production from the middle of the order. I can’t imagine there being any clearer an indication that a team needs to make moves to bring in bats

  • HarveyKsYou

The worst offense in mets history: the 2014 Mets, with Wright, Granderson and Murphy in it… Not like their best hitter is Lucas Duda.

  • bspo1

Yeah that or the Wilpons can’t afford to pay someone else.

  • Waz0787

We mets fan have every right to complain about Ganderson. He has been the crown jewel signing of Anderson era. Most of all he plays in NYC. We demand instant success. He was supposed to the big thing after all we just finished shredding some horrendous contract of bay and Santana. So far he SUCKED. I or anyone here have every right to make negative comments about him. Bay also started cold for us except he stayed old. I am having flashback of the great one.

  • QueensRussell

Read that aloud to my wife, and she didn’t see the humor in it, though I laughed aloud.

  • bspo1

    And sooner rather than later.

  • George_Theodore

    we’re rooting for you!

  • One day it will become apparent that the only reason for the poor offense is the lack of quality hitters, and not the park, the philosophy, the food, or the weather conditions.

  • BurnInHellWilpons

to bad we all know nothing will be done.

  • QueensRussell

Murph is kind of doing his job.

  • Metsfan27

Bring out the pooper scooper! (its a joke)

  • billpulsipher

gary sheffield thinking about coming out of retirement? or manny? they are an improvement at age 44 over this garbage

  • QueensRussell

    It’s too early.

  • Charley’s Twin

I am sticking with 74 wins as my prediction. Team still isn’t that good.

  • Julio Franco?

  • billpulsipher

he might be too young for sandy’s liking

  • QueensRussell

    yes, even a blind man

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

*Starts Colon in fantasy* * Looks at Era…. Quits league*

  • HarveyKsYou

What I’m getting at his we have three quality hitters in the lineup yet the offense is god awful. The bad mets teams were lucky to have one Murphy type hitter.

  • igotyourbackman

    Colon with the curve!

  • Glenn

Geez, Colon looks like he gets fatter every week. I know this is a bad place to pitch in, but he stinks tonight and this isn’t the first time. We make their guy look like friggin’ Fernandez.

  • Andrew Herbst

Maybe Puma will write tomorrow that Colon was an innings eater.

  • HarveyKsYou

    The curse of Citi Field.

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    lol

  • MetsfanInParadise

And Grandy? And Frankie Frank? And Jon Rauch? And Marlon Byrd? And Hawkins?

  • Waz0787

You gotta believe. Don’t think about the mets.

  • I am haunted by Terry Collins’ voice in my head telling me that Colon is still in there because he’s done it, he’s been there, and we need to get him going.

  • igotyourbackman

He’s getting better as far as I can see working in the curve and change up…. Perhaps too little too late but we will see

  • Super T

Piazza’s 1st month with the Mets he had a .646 ops. And I’m sure you were using the same ridiculous logic with him as well.

  • PessiMets

In fairness sandy didn’t want to give him a fourth year

  • Manager of The Year

Speaking of Fantasy Kemp Hanley and Dee Gordon are a combined 2/25 right now

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

Guys good news! Alanta has taken our place as Miami’s Toy!

  • QueensRussell

    That was K3

  • We’re only getting semi-Colon today.

  • MetsfanInParadise

What we need is a colostomy

  • Metropolitan

with the way that AB was going who did not see that coming

  • igotyourbackman

    Had him struck out too

  • Manager of The Year

I’m begging this team to give Dykstra a shot at the bigs

  • bspo1

That was the most pathetic thing I have ever seen.

  • Super T

    Very nice. well played sir!

  • Waz0787

Bro. This is all after the ponzu scam. We have not sign anyone in years. Am I being anxious of course but this is a NYC mentality. We demand instant success especially when we share the city with Yankees .

  • bspo1

Why take him out?? Make him pitch 7 innings.

  • Shaun

I was really waiting for the Davis would have knocked that down comment…I’m disappointed

  • HarveyKsYou

Guy is useless if he’s only going to help us if he has half of his stuff… He gives you nothing when he doesn’t have it.. That’ll be like 10 starts that will be automatic losses.

  • Charley’s Twin

    who even has the energy

  • Waz0787

    I agree. He panicked

  • Taskmaster4450

It only took Collins two extra innings to realize that Colon didnt have it tonight.

The guy is a total moron. Torres or Dice K should have been in the 4th.

  • bspo1

Colon has a 5.65 era. Hopefully he can bring that down 2 runs so we can trade him at the deadline.

  • Metropolitan

Another terrible pitching signing by Alderson..

  • MetsfanInParadise

“Hudgy” is the cancer on this team

  • NYM86

They had Fernandez pitch one of those games and the Marlins have a great home record. I wouldn’t proclaim that just yet.

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

What are the ods of us coming back? 🙁

  • HarveyKsYou

He actually looks thinner to be honest.

  • igotyourbackman

    50/50

  • MetsfanInParadise

Any other team would have a chance.

  • He’s a veteran, standard rules don’t apply, longer leash.

  • 4,452,213,232 to 1. I have a scientific calculator.

  • Metropolitan

Teams may shy away with that 2nd year on his contract

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    Theres a chance!

  • PessiMets

I was about to post the same

  • Manager of The Year

Every night I have nightmares about this team. I’m playing in little league and walk into the dugout where I see my coach is Terry Collins. I wake up screaming every night out of breath and sweating

  • OK, let’s build on this!

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    lol

  • That is scary. I’m sure you need to change the sheets as well.

  • QueensRussell

    Just a flesh wound!

  • Who wants to bet Terry Collins mentions the long and late plane trip during the post game?

  • BadBadLeroyBrown
  • NYM86

Getting sick of him and his noodle arm too.

  • Super T

I’m guessing you have suffered thru the last 5 seasons with the rest of us & you’re going to bury the “crown jewel signing of the Anderson era” already after 1 month?

  • KEITH

Meat of the order coming up. No worries.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

I couldnt log on in time, sorry :'(

  • Scottydoeskno328

    Colon ain’t no ace

  • Taskmaster4450

Sorry Joe but I have to disagree. I know you are in favor of the signing but dont let that skew you objectivity. The guy was missing the target by 3 feet. He never was really in control from the end of the 2nd inning on. Hernandez and Cohen picked up on it immediately. Colon could have been taken out after 4 runs given up and the Mets might have had a chance.

Plus Collins has a rested BP. So Vet or not vet, he needs to be out of the game.

  • Taskmaster4450

    Tejada is leading off?

  • bspo1

100%. Why the hell couldn’t they get on that flight earlier? They knew the game was canceled very early. It’s a chartered jet…

  • QueensRussell

Ruben gonna get the party started!

  • Metropolitan

There is always an excuse isn’t there

  • Because of the double negative, you are actually saying that he is the ace. Just sayin’.

  • Manager of The Year

If Terry pitch hits for Familia here I will be pissed off. We would be using way too much bullpen for one game in a 4 game series. Especially at Coors

  • Blaiseda

First four innings Hes been behind on most counts and the mets are swinging at lousy pitches ahead in the count. 5th inning he lobs a cookie over the plate on the first pitch and they take it for a strike. He’s got no location and little movement. The mets hitters are just swinging at bad pitches.

  • BurnInHellWilpons

    be pissed off.

  • Tejada will now hit a HR.

  • Super T

He’s too busy going 1-8 in Baltimore.

  • QueensRussell

Ump has a curious strike zone

  • KEITH

    Sarcasm.

  • MetsfanInParadise

“Encore Action” cable channel is showing the original Planet of The Apes. THAT’S worth watching

  • QueensRussell

we can be certain of death, taxes, and the opposite of what you wrote

  • Metsfan27

Does Tejada ever hit it out of the infield? I’m seriously asking..

  • Metropolitan

You must be pissed right about now

  • Why not just let him bat?

  • Waz0787

Everyone here loves the mets. I get it butlers be realistic did the team really improved in offseason? My answer is no. We replaced Harvey with colon. Hawkins and Parnell with valvy and farnsworth. Our young talent has not taken a leap yet

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Terry Collins

  • Manager of The Year

Sigh why didn’t I expect this from our absolute genius manager

  • mr. belvedere

why didn’t TC doule switch? our pen is at least rested why use a guy for one damn hitter

  • QueensRussell

    EYJ on the basepaths!!!

  • Metropolitan

He keeps playing everyday..still too soon to talk about benching him Cohen,he is making 60 mil..now you know we have to get him going

  • MetsfanInParadise

Just like Bay (leaving Grandy in the lineup because of the contract)

  • NYM86

Let’s face it. Granderson is a bust. He’s not going to come around, ever. Nothing to be optimistic about with him. He is Jason Bay Jr.

  • Lagares deserves better than this. I’m ashamed for him.

  • Manager of The Year

I would be punching a wall right now if my hands weren’t all bandaged up

  • I’m certain that question will be asked in post game, it was a curious move.

  • MetsfanInParadise

Who was calling Gary Cohen a management shill?

  • QueensRussell

    I hope you are wrong

  • Charley’s Twin

    someone dumb?

  • QueensRussell

    Keith H. ever the optimist

  • bspo1

Gary just want the team to win.

  • NYM86

I don’t think I’ll be but I’d gladly eat crow if he does turn it around. Just think the chances are very slim.

  • And, like most people, I was pretty happy with today’s lineup. They really need a new bat or two which might actually wake up some of the other guys.

  • Super T

    I’m gonna steal Taskmaster’s line –

The Cardinals (model organization in MLB) big FA signing SS Jhonny Peralta is batting .196 BA. Fans just need to chill about Granderson.

  • MetsfanInParadise

Keith laying it on a bit heavy

  • Cameraman caught sleeping.

  • Manager of The Year

That went much deeper than I thought it would.

  • MLBGM Fire TC

Y is this guy our manager???

  • Metropolitan

usual shoddy camera work by SNY

  • NYM86

That wasn’t the biggest signing in 5 offseasons for them though.. They also have more $ on payroll to absorb a bad contract. We unfortunately don’t.

  • bspo1

    Wilpon’s only hire the best!

  • Taskmaster4450

Murphy doesnt even swing….he just slaps at the ball.

  • QueensRussell

Sorry, but I pronounce this one over.

  • George_Theodore

“Lagares has a chance to be one of the best players in the game” – Keith Hernandez

  • Metropolitan

The camera crew must be made up of friends of the family more cronyism by Fred

  • Manager of The Year

    Dam right he does

  • Taskmaster4450

No but it was the money they were spending on Beltran….so letting him go might be a mistake.

  • PessiMets

Coors field must b in their heads

  • MikeyT

Juan nicasio? In coors? Shutout? This is pitiful, embarrassing performance

  • El_Verdadero_Presidente

Wonder how Noah would do against our varsity tonight.

  • Maybe they should start including a “pressure of a big contract” clause on every Mets big free agent contract. I’m sick and tired of hearing that damned excuse for every free agent failure we have. The hell with these big back-breaking contracts in the future for players over 29.

  • Tommy Med

    Juan Nicasio aka Juan Marichal

  • MetsfanInParadise

Charlton Heston just captured by the apes.

  • MetsFanSantaMonica

well…i don’t think anyone would have predicted a 2 hitter tonight. Hopefully it’s a little rust from the rainout and the late arrival, plus the lack of oxygen and we come back strong tomorrow. This guy looked very hittable in the first 2 innings. Oh well.

  • George_Theodore

get your hand off me you me damned, dirty ape!

  • NYM86

When he uses two hands and drives the ball he’s a great gap-gap hitter. When he plays tennis with his swing he’s a worthless slasher.

  • Ad for Metsblog. Suckers.

  • MikeyT

How about you just don’t blow 40 million on .230 hitters that strike out 150 times

That was a stupid contract from day 1

  • MetsfanInParadise

“Take your stinking paws off me, you damn dirty ape!”

  • Taskmaster4450

Then you are in favor of developing talent because there are few FA who are under 30 these days.

Seems you are one in favor of upping the payroll….who are you going to spend it on?

  • All of that and our offense absolutely sucks.

  • Metropolitan

4 years at 60 mil should not be back breaking for the NEW YORK Mets .I think that is the problem we all have here one bad contract chokes this broke ass ownership

  • BurnInHellWilpons

they have better bats around him though then what we have around granderson. They can stay afloat if he doesnt hit well…we dont have guys that really pick up struggling hitters, our whole lineup struggles… atleast peralta has belted 6 hrs and 12 rbis..

  • mr. belvedere

Joe you just made Jason Bay’s day with that comment

  • PessiMets

He has 6hr and 12rbi and he plays SS

  • I thought it was “filthy paws”?

  • NYM86

Or to hell with signing hitters from Fenway and Yankee Stadium.

  • George_Theodore

    lol.. i was paraphrasing

  • Taskmaster4450

    I agree.

  • Yeah that’s the line!

  • Waz0787

I have been harsh. I admit I went overboard I also admit but he hasn’t done anything to prove anyone here otherwise.

  • Mcgrupp81

Try 175Ks. Switch to the NL with little protection wasn’t helping matters. Alderson was willing to take the .230 if he could get 30+HR and 100RBI. There’s a reason the Mets were able to snag him and not another team…

  • I was interviewed by them today. LOL

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

I really want to turn the game off…

  • NYM86

That also creates unnecessary pressure for the players with those contracts.

  • MetsfanInParadise

Tell us more, tell us more

  • Waz0787

They are jealous by the comments

  • George_Theodore

“what’s it like to run a real blog, Joe?”

  • Hotstreak

Does that including DW? It should have.

  • Waz0787

Please don’t sellout to the wilpons

  • Scottydoeskno328

Hmmm well colon ain’t ace doesn’t sound right and colon no ace sounds weird too. So I believe my grammars correct.

  • Pike Miazza

There just isn’t a big enough jet just sitting around for rescheduling for that to happen unfortunately. If it were a small jet it be no prob…

  • Nice. Exposure is exposure and despite their level of quality, they have lots of eyeballs. Dim eyeballs are better than no eyeballs.

  • Taskmaster4450

Maybe the Mets are suffering from propeller lag.

  • KEITH

The actress in that movie was beautiful!

  • HarveyKsYou

    Interviewed by who?

  • Metropolitan

Yeah we rely too much on too few players …

  • MetsfanInParadise

    More like bat envy

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Wish Arenado was our 3B now

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

What would you guys do if we scored 5?

  • BurnInHellWilpons

I HOPE YOU TOLD THAT CERRONE TO GO STRAIGHT TO HELL… AND TO TAKE THAT METSBLOG WITH HIM.

  • bspo1

    Nasty change

  • Super T

And if he was batting .196 on the Mets you and several others would be calling it a terrible signing too.

  • Metropolitan

Come on guys score at least one run..it is humiliating get shut out at coors

  • NYM86

That’s true but that’s also IF Beltran planned on staying. He always wanted to play for the Yankees.

  • A line also heard from a female patron of a bar speaking to Lucas Duda.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Continue watching like we’re doing now 😉

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    K well i predict a 4 run inning..

  • HarveyKsYou

We struggle to get on base and don’t hit home runs.. It takes 5 hits just for us to score 2 runs.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

From your mouth to the Gods ear

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

Oh god if we get shutout I have to listen to Craig go off on the Mets tomorrow

  • Super T

Replacing Beltran’s offense with Peraltas’ is going to hurt their overall offense.

  • No, no, no, not that kind of an interview, I was their guest today during their weekly podcast. We just talked Mets, payroll, Sandy, and when I started to mention Wilpon we ran out of time. Oops, looks like we’re out of time. 🙂

  • NYM86

Is it time for a vintage worthless HR from our Captain?

  • Wright should bunt.

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    yes.. yes it is

  • Super T

Any signs of offense would be nice at this point.

  • Arenado is a jerk.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

In THE hitters park and only 2 hits(Lagares,C.Young)

I guess we should blame Citi Fields dimensions for not being able to hit at Coors…

    Makes sense

  • XtreemIcon

It’s really a wash because Beltran has been awful for the Yankees.

  • KEITH

    Some freakin arm. Wow!

  • HarveyKsYou

Thanks Curtis for making Wright into a bad player as well.

  • $14435385

Personally, I prefer “You cut out his brain, you bloody baboon!”

  • bspo1

    Frustrating start for Wright.

  • $14435385

    “No-va”…

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    David Wright sucks

  • Waz0787

Lol. This is funny. I am sorry and owe you an apology. I went crazy with my response. I am, sorry again. After all we’re mets fan brother. We are in the same side.

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

OMG GUYS Its a base hit! Quick take a picture!

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Yeah always blame everyone else but Wright for him sucking

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    It’s Contagious!

  • HarveyKsYou

I hate Curtis Granderson (as a player). I hope he just decides to retire.

  • NYM86

He’d be doing us a huge favor but, unfortunately this contract is his retirement plan.

  • MikeyT

We are really going to regret quite a bit of wrights contract

  • bspo1

I doubt that. He will be fine.

  • Why would you hate him? He is such a humble guy and a class act. You could hate the contract, but I can tell you that Grandy is working hard despite the results.

  • HarveyKsYou

Another weak ground out to first by Grandy. He just sucks.. Flat out sucks.

  • NYM86

Heard that story with Bay. Nice guy, bad ball player. Mets have enough ‘nice guys’

  • Taskmaster4450

He cant hit the inside pitch. And that is where they are pitching him.

  • HarveyKsYou

    I said CG the player..

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    Arenado > D.Wright

  • Wolfmicky21

Is there a plan in place for when grandy’s batting average goes below .100?

  • MikeyT

Looks like degrom is dealing again

  • Taskmaster4450

Wright can hit the inside fastball and that is where they are pitching him.

    He is slow to adjust.

  • bspo1

Nicasios ERA will have gone from 5+ To under 4 after this outing, go Mets!

  • amarksupreme

    yes. he hits lead off

  • Metropolitan

Yeah of course….We have to get him going

  • El_Verdadero_Presidente

Lovely guy. just wish he’d close up and shoot the middle for awhile. He looks like such a 1-dimensional Yankee Stadium type.

  • Taskmaster4450

We are and I understand…passion gets the best of all of us.

It is all good my friend.

  • Taskmaster4450

And Colon went from 4+ to over 5+.

  • Yes, an aggressive and daring new meal schedule.

  • HarveyKsYou

He’s shown no power with us… Okay he’d have 3-4 home runs if he was playing at Yankee Staidum.. But that’s only 3-4 more hits and at most 7 RBIs more.. He’d still be doing nothing.

  • goorru

Saw this on a friends FB

  • mr. belvedere

Ok, this is more than just a slow start for Granderson, this is code red crisis now, he’s absolutely terrible, he doesn’t have a clue at the plate and really is only average defensively, I’d much rather have Abreu playing everyday

  • He definitely changed his game playing in Yankee Stadium, and I hope for all our sakes he reverts back to the player he was with the Tigers.

  • Taskmaster4450

The way Wright is going, Scott Rolen is better than Wright and he is retired.

  • The Rockies bullpen looks nice and relaxing. I wonder if the visitor bullpen is as well.

  • MikeyT

He really struggles with anything over 90mph. He crushes lefties and soft tossers

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

What an exciting game, I’m on the edge of my seat

  • MetsfanInParadise

I’m on the edge of unconsciousness

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    Ty Wiggington > D.Wright

    FIXED

  • Let us know when you fall off the chair. lol

  • Taskmaster4450

I think Abreau is a bit over the top but sitting Grandy for 3 or 4 games isnt a bad idea.

  • PessiMets

If the mets had signed him and nobody else yes, thats the point u can’t just sign one guy and call it a day. Sign multiple guys at positions u r in need of. Why not abreu for 1b, peralta at ss, and granderson??? It would’ve taken off pressure off of everybody but the mets don’t have that kind of money

  • Waz0787

Common now no need to step on a wound

  • I am too because I don’t have my remote and am thinking about changing the channel or turning it off.

  • Taskmaster4450

See Wright, Tulo can hit an inside fastball.

That is how it is done.

  • MetsfanInParadise

I’ve been saying that for over a week

  • Taskmaster4450

I started saying that about 2 weeks ago.

It will be another 3 weeks before it enters Collins mind.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • NYM86

I liked Wiggy. I remember a Subway Series game at Shea where he had 2 huge homers to left field. Can’t remember if one of them was a walk off but it was a great game.

  • Taskmaster4450

    Isnt Wigginton retired also?

  • PessiMets

Sad thing is that wright’s and curtis’ best years are behind them and they r the two highest paid players

  • MetsfanInParadise

“Take your stinking paws off me, you damn dirty ape!”. A better show than this one

  • Metropolitan

People were saying the same type of things about Bay

  • Taskmaster4450

I like German. The kid has a good arm and he is mixing his FB in well with that nasty changeup.

  • HarveyKsYou

    Wish we brought back Beltran.

  • mr. belvedere

    why Abreu is better

  • Taskmaster4450

    The vodka finally kicking in?

  • MetsfanInParadise

    “It’s a madhouse! A MADHOUSE!”

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    THANKS SANDY

  • NYM86

We’ve already almost made up for Santana’s and Bay’s contract. Just in need of 1 other 32+ player on the decline that will except no less than $15Mil per and wallah.

  • Greatest. Ending. Ever.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

This game is as exciting as a funeral

  • Taskmaster4450

How were the Mets going to bring back Beltran?

He wasnt going to sign with the Mets no matter what according to his press conference.

  • MetsfanInParadise

you should know by now that’s not my poison

  • KennyandtheMets

Wright should move his butt down the 1B line. Arena do made a GREAT play, but David didn’t even make it close.

  • And includes a similar level of mourning.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    Ike Davis 2-4 w/RBI

  • MetsfanInParadise

If we score 5 now it’ll be even more frustrating

  • NYM86

At least Valverde can get some work in *yay*

  • BurnInHellWilpons

we’ve gotten what…1 hit since the 2nd inning….. good luck scoring 5 runs with this pathetic excuse of a lineup

  • MLBGM Fire TC

If we drop like 10 in a row then can we fire tc? What exactly will it take?

  • I think we’re safe.

  • Metropolitan

here we go ..they are talking up the late arrival..

  • Hotstreak

SA guys: Wright extension, Grandy. CY and tonight Colon ( who I liked) all suck tonight and Colon was good except for two starts in a months work. What is that 2 out of six or every third start. Its Omar’s Guys Niese, Gee. Mejia and Murphy and Duda who are carrying this team. Sandy Lovers make out it was Sandy. Lie, Lie, Lie. I am waiting for the reply short sample. But if TdA hits in his last seven games who look at Sandy steal in the trade. Yes Thor was the real steal.

I forgot Lagares. Harvey on DL

  • Taskmaster4450

I dont think he gets fired no matter what the Mets do.

  • amarksupreme

Gary and Keith keep mentioning how late the Mets got in last night. i believe it, they look asleep

  • MetsfanInParadise

if we can’t score off this scrub it’ll be even worse than it was with Nicasio

  • NYM86

I think that’s what the Mets were banking on but he’s 6 years older than he was in Detroit.

  • KennyandtheMets

I’d be happy with a legit at bat. Not take two hanging sliders for strikes, whine at the ump, and roll over on a grounder to 3B. Then not even busting it down the line. Weak!

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

I forgot d’Arnaud was on the team. What exactly has he done anything recently???

  • WilponsNeed2Go

On a positive note…German pitched two innings of scoreless relief!

  • MetsfanInParadise

    A rally!

  • NYM86

Should we discount WAR considering Grandy is 0.1? What’s it take to get negative WAR? lol

  • NYM86

What a sorry bunch without Lagares

  • amarksupreme

if not for the Keith stories, Id be doing anything else

  • Lagares, a one man team. He’ll be on the bench tomorrow.

  • KEITH

At least Juan is making his statement.

  • MetsfanInParadise

Lagares keeps making his case. I don’t think even TC is stupid enough to sit him now

  • Taskmaster4450

Lagares 2 doubles and EYJ a walk as a pinch hitter.

So that means EY plays tomorrow and Lagares will be sat down.

  • WilponsNeed2Go

Juan picking up where he left of 2 for 4 and a Rib-eye!

  • The next time I hear someone say Lagares doesn’t walk enough I’ll clock him. Lol

  • iwamofo

If Lagares keeps this up we have to get him into the all star game

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

It should be 2.0WAR….He’s won us 2 games 😉

  • El_Verdadero_Presidente

Juan is eventually going to have some pretty good power.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Lagares is the best player on the Mets

  • Taskmaster4450

Are you willing to bet money on that LOL

  • MetsfanInParadise

    no

  • NYM86

Granderson is a better actor than baseball player

  • Taskmaster4450

Hernandez feels he can be one of the best in the league.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    Lagares > Trout

  • KennyandtheMets

He BETTER NOT BE! The only excuse would be if his leg is sore.

  • NewYorkMammoths
  • Mike Lloyd

I feel like McDowell in ‘A Clockwork Orange’ tonight…as I get nauseous while they put the drops in my eyes and hold my eyelids open and force me too watch…channel surf time…does that mean I’m not a ‘real new yorker’?

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Juan Lagares > Ken Griffey Jr.

  • Metropolitan

Lets not forget who signed Lagares…

  • bspo1

Lagares, then only one hitting still!

  • mad met

Or it means that wind mill with the little girls arm in right field will get a seat on the bench where he belongs for a few days

  • WilponsNeed2Go

    drinking….lots of drinking

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    Juan Lagares > Mickey Mantle

  • Taskmaster4450

Mantle is dead….I would hope so.

  • mr. belvedere

    0-5 2 K’s in the first game

  • jason bay

    This game sucks.

  • mad met

If it were not for omar q that game was over i guess he should be ourstarting ss

  • KennyandtheMets

So do I. There is something about Juan. I just believe he has just begun to grow as a hitter. We already know he is as good as anyone in CF. much better than most.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    THANKS SANDY ALDERSON

  • NYM86

🙂 That’s certainly one way to look at it haha.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    Juan Lagares > Willie Mays

  • Taskmaster4450

I always like guys who go to the opposite field naturally.

    Juan does that.

  • NYM86

Better yet a sore back from trying to carry these bums

  • Mets are losing and sleep is winning. Time to call it a night.

  • Metropolitan

You are getting out of control now

  • KennyandtheMets

    Stop already. Lol

  • jason bay

THANKS FOR ALL THE GREAT HITTERS OMAR MINAYA

  • Counting only players who have appeared in the majors, who are the Mets core players?

  • Taskmaster4450

    Collins is still manager.

He favors the vets over everyone else.

  • KennyandtheMets

Hey. I skipped bowling league to watch this mess. What a mistake!!

  • mad met

    Money money more money

  • NYM86

Harvey, Niese, Wright, Murphy & Lagares?

  • HarveyKsYou

    Grandy!

  • Guest

I thought Sandy was our GM…Well if Omar put this team together with Colon,EY,TDA etc…he sucks as a GM and should be fired today….

    What you think, you agree???

  • Mike Lloyd

    Can of corn for Juan.

  • NYM86

They paid him like a core player!

  • mad met

    My mom is better

  • Bail4Nails

    Gee

  • I’m very glad to see you included Niese.

  • HarveyKsYou

We better come out and whoop some ass tomorrow… This team wants to show it’s serious? After taking a beating come out and destroy the Rockies.

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Papa Flambe looked good

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

😉 When you see grwatness you have to document it lol

  • NewYorkMammoths

    Core or #CORE?

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

I thought Sandy was our GM…Well if Omar put this team together with Colon,EY,TDA etc…he sucks as a GM and should be fired today….

    What you think, you agree???

  • mad met

Ive been saying that since the day we started talking about signing this windmill

  • HarveyKsYou

    He’s cursed Wright..

  • mad met

This kid is the real deal

  • Jgreen

Well great rehap game for Juan at least

  • Mike Lloyd

Ugh. I don’t know if the could hit bowling ball sized baseballs’ tonite.

  • Waz0787

    Knowing collins one word bench

  • jason bay

More of the Mets core players haven’t gotten up here yet but if your putting that filter on it…..

Harvey, Niese, Gee, Wheeler, Mejia, Lagares, Wright

  • KennyandtheMets

I think Granderson will start to hit eventually. However, his arm is weak for a RFer. The other problem with EY in LF. Granderson belongs there.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Interesting…..None of these players you mentioned were Alderson acquisitions.

  • NYM86

I think him and even Murphy although I mentioned him in my list are more complimentary players than core players. Just my opinion though.

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Time for that meaningless HR?

  • MetsfanInParadise

    nope

  • mad met

Cant use hom now u cant run over the catcher

  • Taskmaster4450

That would provide some hope..instead a weak fly ball.

  • Jgreen

I would love to see some meaningless HR for next days

  • MetsfanInParadise

We must hope it was just the late arrival and that they’ll be rested and refreshed tomorrow.

  • HarveyKsYou

Come to a hitters park and only threaten once to hit a HR (Duda). Weak hits, aside from Lagares.

  • jason bay

By that measure 2006 was more about Phillips than Minaya.

Reyes, Wright, Glavine, Floyd, Trachsel, Heilman and the checkbook

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

LOL…IDK how you can call them core players if they havent played a game yet. Thats pretty generous to assume they will workout

I guess you dont view TDA as a core player…that suggests you think he is a bust

  • Waz0787

My conspiracy theory manhattan metsfan works for the wilpons and the mets. Everytime mets are winning he is all over the thread. When they’re losing no where to be found. He believes this is by far the greatest baseball team ever.

  • KEITH

Grandy is praying Young strikes out.

  • KennyandtheMets

    Spot on.

  • Rocky Thompson

deGrom having another nice performance. So far 4 innings, 2 hits 0 BB, 4 Ks and 0 runs. ERA now 1.69 plus he hit a ground rule double tonight.

  • Metropolitan

Most of the players doing anything are from Minaya .lagares for example

  • Hotstreak

Good answer. But only three are productive right now.

  • KennyandtheMets

    Yep.

  • MetsfanInParadise

What was that Lotto saying? “Hey, you never know.”

  • NYM86

I don’t want to think that way because than we’re making excuses for him.

  • HarveyKsYou

    He can play RF.

  • Bail4Nails

Off-topic- I just caught some of the Overtime of Canadiens at Boston Bruins. The place was quiet as a church, and even the Garden was pretty quiet the other night.
Anyone notice Live Sports Events are nowhere near as loud as they used to be?
We have an excuse that we hate our Owners. But I feel like The Corporate Boxes, The Overpricing, and Stopping the Sale of Alcohol early, have combined to Ruin Live Sports. Anyone else notice this lately?

  • BurnInHellWilpons

better chance at winning lotto, then these mets winning

  • jason bay

I prefer him to Thole, that’s for sure but he still has to earn his bones.

  • Metropolitan

    Back to back singles …wow

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    What about TDA???

    Ooops scratch that, dont answer

  • MetsfanInParadise

not even enough to be considered a tease

  • Jgreen

can we do back to back to back singles???

  • HarveyKsYou

Woo hoo. He hit a single. He did that two times last week (his only damn hits) and it did nothing.

  • WilponsNeed2Go

Maybe the Rockies’ mascot, standing behind the backstop dancing, is a little distracting to the pitcher?

  • MetsfanInParadise

    I’ll let you know

  • Waz0787

Note to self when the oposition team has an era over 7. Mets can hit multiple singles

  • MetsfanInParadise

    hope so

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Well dont you think Wheeler needs to earn his bones as well???

I would hope he is better than a late rd draft pick like thole we did trade a CY Young winner for him.

  • Why is Colon in the stands behind home plate? Sorry, going back to sleep.

  • NYM86

How do you take that pitch lol

  • jason bay

You can say that about most GM’s in their 3rd or 4th year.

Look at Amaro. Most of the Phillies work was done before he was GM. Same with Moziliak in St. Louis.

  • HarveyKsYou

The mascot is cute leave it alone.

  • MetsfanInParadise

Keith the curmudgeon. But I agree

  • NYM86

    OUTTA HERE!!!

  • Metropolitan

    Outta here

  • HarveyKsYou

    NICE

  • funny

  • MetsfanInParadise

    NOW it’s a tease

  • Jgreen

    wow meaningless HR

  • Mike Lloyd

    Nice. Good job TDA

  • KennyandtheMets

    Lol.

The funny thing is, there is an all time great player who I compare Lagares to. But only in one aspect of the game. Joe DiMaggio. My dad tells me that DiMaggio got a jump on a ball seemingly before it left the hitter’s bat. My dad says that Juan gets a similar type jump on a fly ball.

  • Mcgrupp81

That sounded real good off the bat. There’s our 4 runs.

  • HarveyKsYou

    No.. Get two men on.

  • WilponsNeed2Go

Yeah now we’re only down by three!

  • Jgreen

So we can’t do back to back to back single 🙁

  • Taskmaster4450

If Collins pulled Colon after giving up 4 runs, it might be a different game.

  • NYM86

Meaningless would be if Wright hit it. Good sign from Travis.

  • Metropolitan

too bad top 9 with two outs it finally comes

  • There’s my lead story for the morning. Thanks Travis!

  • WilponsNeed2Go

“This isnt disneyland, this is baseball…Get him outta there!” -Keith Hernandez (on Dinger)

  • Waz0787

    Hawkins time

  • WilponsNeed2Go

    sigh…sarcasm

  • but the apologists will go on about how he does not impact result of games..

  • mad met

Maybe they should shop at tiffany’s instead of k mart

  • NYM86

    I personally find it amusing.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Uh Mozeliak has been the GM since 2007 and I could name a host of core players he acquired.

And Amaro is terrible just like Alderson.

  • amarksupreme

cant burn out the bullpen in game 1 at Coors

  • mad met

    How about degrom

  • Metropolitan

come on walk it is what this line up does best

  • HarveyKsYou

Maybe if tubby boy didn’t implode again..

  • Taskmaster4450

I was told earlier that Colon is a vet so different rules for him.

It was obvious Colon didnt have it…he was missing by 3 feet.

  • WilponsNeed2Go

Good ol’ Reuben “Rally Killing” Tejada

  • $14435385

It was a good at bat….he hit a bullet right at someone. That’s all you can ask.

  • Can we just move Granderson to LF and start calling Jason Bay??

  • NYM86

    Jr.

  • Taskmaster4450

Are you kidding me? You have a rested BP and Dice K or Torres out there. Dice K is a starter. Put him in and let him pitch 5 innings to get you into the 7th.

  • Guest

    Nice ABs in the 9th.

  • HarveyKsYou

Fatso couldn’t just keep us in the game.. RA Dickey did that best.. In his bad games he would give us length and allow us to fight back.

  • jason bay

    Why don’t you?

Actually it was before the 2008 season that he became GM.

    And Amaro?

  • Taskmaster4450

Watch out for Velverde. He will be the closer again within a couple weeks.

  • Greg

The only two good free agents signings Sandy makes he lets go – Byrd and Hawkins. All others have sucked

  • bspo1

Encouraging signs from a few of the guys at the end there. Hopefully that carries over to tomorrow.

  • Mike Lloyd

    Who? Jason Overpaidison?

  • CJM

He traded Byrd. He let Hawkins go.

  • WilponsNeed2Go

Well I could ask that he get on-base once this game…, but you’re right thats too much.

  • MetsfanInParadise

It wasn’t nearly as competitive as the final score suggests

  • MikePiazza3186

    We saw

  • CyYout

Collins is to blame for letting the game get out of reach like that. Could have mounted a comeback if he took him out when he was supposed to.

  • Waz0787

Let’s be optimistic. We had a winning record in April. Hopefully we also have a winning record in may as well.

  • HarveyKsYou

Nicasio was the difference in this game.. Literally. Only the mets. Why are we so cursed!

  • Hotstreak

I sort of felt Travis would homer: I am glad he did more than anybody as I say he needs confidence.

But imagine if Tejeda was up with the bases loaded. 🙂

  • mad met

Sorry joe but lead story is don juan

  • WilponsNeed2Go

Dinger contributed more to the Mets today than half the team.

  • Mario Gonzalez

Just out of curiosity, are your feelings the same for Wright and his 0-4?

  • Waz0787

Fair to say the pitcher sucked. Dude has an era over 9 but. Something positive

  • NYM86

We’ve had good starts to the season the last 5 years. Time to start coming down to Earth.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Maybe Bartolo Colon wins a CY YOUNG this year…………………..

    Nahhh………………………”FAT CHANCE”

    http://usatthebiglead.files.wordpress.com/2014/04/bartolo-colon-jiggles-his-belly.gif?w=295&h=231&crop=1

    ~Mike Puma

  • jason bay

Actually we traded a RFer for him that had two months left on his contract and had suffered repeated attempts by ownership to embarrass him.

But yeah I consider wheeler a core part of our future.

  • CyYout

Except he took him out after 70 pitches in the 5th anyway.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Its not cursed its just SUCKING

  • Metropolitan

can’t pinpoint what our curse is ,the Red Sox could point to Babe Ruth and the Cubs fans the Billy Goat..I just blame it on Fred

  • KennyandtheMets

I think most of them were trying to jack the ball. Very poor at bats for most of them. Juan, CY, and Duda had some good at bats. The rest of them were awful, until the bomb by d’Arnaud in the 9th.

  • Waz0787

Lol it’s going to be long summer

  • Hotstreak

Unfair coment: With two stikes Tejeda was a pro.

  • Waz0787

We can’t hit but our hitting coach still has a job.

  • HarveyKsYou

Hey, at least he invented the word zimmo!

  • Mario Gonzalez

Wow, 1st game in May and here come all of the naysayers.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

I agree dude is the only consistent performer on this team offensive and defensive

  • KMO82

At least Lagares doesn’t seem to have missed a beat. Keep him in the lineup Terry!

  • TheJuanWhoKnocks

Everybody’s acting like this after the loss. Relax… we’re still 15-12 and we showed some fight at the end. Go Mets!
    http://s3-ec.buzzfed.com/static/2013-09/enhanced/webdr06/27/15/anigif_enhanced-buzz-7953-1380309443-10.gif

  • Mario Gonzalez

Let’s be honest, the hitting coach, whom I can’t stand, isn’t in the box.

  • KennyandtheMets

Bad game. They happen. Just need to bounce back tomorrow. I’d really like to see DW do some damage against the lefty starters we are facing the next two games. He has killed them throughout his career. This season, thus far, he has looked bad against them.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Hank what happened to your boy Bartolo today 🙁

  • WilponsNeed2Go

Kinda an unfair comparison. Not happy that Wright went 0-4 today, but one guy is a career 300 hitter and the other guy should of been cut in ST.

  • HarveyKsYou

Maybe a swing to his face would get him to resign.. The problem is this team would swing and MISS.

  • MikePiazza3186

Every1 on here is so funny we lose 1 game and you all start bashing almost all the players this team is playing hard and at 15-12 after a tough April schedule I’m very happy so far and this one loss isn’t gonna make me go nuts you all really have to chill out and we will get em tomorrow!!! LGM

  • mad met

    He belongs on

  • Hotstreak

    Salaries are the unfair comparison.

  • Mario Gonzalez

    THIS!!!!!

  • WilponsNeed2Go

Well when he strikes out he’s a pro too. He gets paid to play baseball.

  • Waz0787

Mets need to hire a psychic. Ghosthunters or something Something is cursed with mets. Black magic or something

  • Mario Gonzalez

Don’t respond to Wilpons…. This guy has entered troll status!!

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

How is it different from when we win a game and some start screaming out 90 wins and the WS lol…

    Pot said to the kettle

  • Waz0787

They wouldn’t swing. That’s our mets. We love walking

  • MikePiazza3186

Agreed some of these so call fans just love to cry

  • MikePiazza3186

We at 15-12 so that’s good I don’t try to get outta hand after every win or loss it’s a long season

  • Mario Gonzalez

Wright has stunk up the joint this year. Tejada, while not on the same level, has held his own. If you can complain about Tejada, then Wright should be way ahead on this list.

  • I had classes and two big papers to turn in today and didn’t get home until the 8th inning. He knew I wasn’t here to support him and threw a stinker. Wish Terry pulled him earlier though.

  • Waz0787

Alderson degroom is ready. Let’s trade from our strength our pitching get us a hitter.

  • WilponsNeed2Go

Tejada gets paid how much for a WAR of -0.4? 1.1 million that seems alittle unfair to me.

  • CJM

BTW at 15-12, the Mets are on pace for exactly 90 wins.

  • NYM86

Maybe you’re getting out of hand over a 15-11 start? I’m pretty sure we’ve had similar records in the last 5 years to begin the season and it hasn’t helped us finish the season with more than 76 wins.

  • MikePiazza3186

We are 15-12 and colon just pitched in Colorado so he gets a mulligan

  • prosoundz

Arenado seems like a great kid.

  • CJM

    Who is Balderson?

  • Connor O’Brien

Second bad start of the season for Colon. He has been terrible in two starts and really good in the rest. Still too early to tell with him.

  • Hotstreak

Yes. He is sort of like El Sid on 1986 team: (not body type) but contribution, He is vital for the success of Mets but tends to be overlooked. That is unfair.

  • MikePiazza3186

    Nah every year is different

  • Waz0787

We should have traded wright for him.

  • HarveyKsYou

This is an old troll from MetsBlog!

  • WilponsNeed2Go

Tejada has been holding his own? Really? He has the worst WAR of any starting ML SS. Which means he’s literally the worst starting SS in baseball.

  • MikePiazza3186

I hate when ppl call him balderson it’s so lame grow up the guy has done fine with the budget he’s been givin

  • WilponsNeed2Go

yeah and you have shill status! Tell me does Jeffy pay you per post or per day?

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

When the Optimist everything is roses section of the Mets fanbase start telling you not to get upset after 1 loss because we’re 15-12 or whatever…

    Show them THIS

    2009 = 70W-92L
    2010 = 79W-83L
    2011 = 77W-85L
    2012 = 74W-88L
    2013 = 74W-88L

    2014 = ??W-??L

This is why Mets fans get the way the get after a loss…Call it experience.

  • Connor O’Brien

    That’s disturbing…

  • Connor O’Brien

Glad to see that. At least one positive from the loss!

  • NYM86

You’re right instead of a RH Jason Bay we have a LH Jason Bay. And he’s a RF not a LF. Very different indeed. We always have the pitching, it’s always the hitting that fails us and we haven’t done a damn thing to help ourselves except sign the newest incarnation of Bay. Hard to be optimistic about keeping up a 15 win monthly pace with the same issues that have plagued us the last 5 years.

  • KennyandtheMets

How about this lineup vs the lefty tomorrow?

    Lagares CF
    Murphy 2B
    Wright 3B
    CY RF
    Duda 1B
    d’Arnaud C
    Tejada SS
    Wheeler P
    EY LF

    Thoughts?

  • Connor O’Brien

Reading comprehension is a wonderful thing.

  • Jgreen

Looks good. We should try more Duda against lefty

  • Connor O’Brien

    #TheVoiceofReason

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Yeah too bad he has only pitched “6 GAMES”

So 2 out of 6 games he pitched were beyond brutal.

Yore a SABR-GOON so you dont need me to tell you those odds arent good.

He didnt give his team a chance in either game. If this trend continues the whole year that will be $20 mil flushed down the toilet

  • KennyandtheMets

I hear you! However, bad games DO happen to every team. I want to see how they respond over the next couple of games before I get down.

  • Waz0787

    Joe,

When you upgraded to disqus. You unlocked a monster. I hope this is what you expected.

  • Connor O’Brien

And you think that would be a good thing?

  • Metropolitan

    How about Clownderson???

  • NYM86

Still better $ spent than Granderson.

  • MikePiazza3186

Last year we had marcum and laffey kill us in the first half don’t forget that

  • Hotstreak

    Other is Lagares.

  • KennyandtheMets

Agreed. I think Terry will put Satin in there, but I’d like to see Duda in there.

  • Connor O’Brien

    Not at all

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Yeah I actually have him on 1 of my fantasy baseball teams and needless to say IM BENCHING him…not too confident of his chances

  • Connor O’Brien

Yeah, 2 out of 6 is definitely bad, as his stats will show. Still hopeful that it’s just an anomaly. No one can really say either way, even if he had four terrible starts. Too small a sample.

  • NYM86

That’s true but now don’t forget that John Buck had 14 HR’s in April. He carried us that entire month.

  • Mario Gonzalez

    You forgot Lagares!!

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Cant argue that so far. With the exception of the 2 game winning hits/sacrifice Grandy has sucked mint balls

  • Mike Lloyd

DW needs to make an adjustment. To me with pitcher’s busting him in-he’s still trying to inside out the ball to RF.

  • Connor O’Brien

I don’t remember him being a projected ace. Number two starter, yes, at best. That’s what all the experts said.

  • jason bay

Everything goes smoother with a farm system.

Those years we had very little nearby but that is changing.

  • Metropolitan

Collins is like come on do I have to talk about Lagares…Lets talk some EY instead..

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    OH YOU ARE LYING CONNOR.

    THATS A BLATANT LIE

He was projected a #1 pitcher by almost all accounts until he finally pitched in the majors then everyone backpedaled

  • amarksupreme

Coors Field games, as u may know, are a bit on the high scoring side. youre gonna need a lot of guys ready on alot of nights. and actually, was just repeating what Gary and Keith mentioned

  • billpulsipher

Colon has lost almost as many games now as he did all last year. another awful sandy signing…right up there with Marcum and Fatsisco……..between Colon and Grandy, Sandy cant look down on Omar for his Castillo/Perez/Bay signings anymore

  • Connor O’Brien

    Show me.

  • Brian D.

It would be interesting to see what the Mets record in April was those seasons. I know in some seasons they were above .500 a few times as well.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Damn you are ruining my Friday already lol

  • billpulsipher

Wheeler and Mejia are the 2 guys on this team you shouldnt be dissing. everyone else is open season

  • jason bay

If Minada had gotten us some hitters we’d be putting some runs on the board.

  • CyYout

EYJ will lead off whenever he plays. It’s the only thing he does well. And expect Duda to sit. I would like to see TDA move up a spot as well. EYJ, Lagares, Wright, CY, Murphy, TDA, Satin, Tejada.

  • Sach

David, Murph, Juan, Matt and Dillon, sorry not Niese or Wheeler for me.

  • Connor O’Brien

He was considered a top prospect, that doesn’t mean they thought of him as an ace. From what I have read, most people have said potential ace like stuff but would probably never fully put it together to get to that. I’ve seen mostly #2-3 starters. I could be wrong. I’m so busy all the time that I don’t have time to keep great track of what Sickels, Law, etc. said.

Go ahead and correct me if I’m wrong, but I definitely recall them saying #2-3 at some point.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

They happen yes but when youve seen more than your share of losing for 5straight years. Only way to convince us is to keep on winning and firing on all cylinders rather than continue to look bad offensively and tell the fans, “Imagine how tough we’ll be when everyone hits their back of the baseball card numbers”…which isnt realistic just more hope being sold by the Sandy regime

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

It definitely would, Ive been meaning to do it too but havent had the time or energy for it lol

  • Mario Gonzalez

    Wow!!

  • Connor O’Brien

    See my comment above.

  • Connor O’Brien

    Quote? Anything?

  • Mike Lloyd

Collins post gam-paraphrase-we r still gonna mix and match in the OF..we gotta get him going Kev (Burkhardt) vomits at sound of his voice. (Collins)

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Yeah suuuuuuuuuure like things change in San Diego for the Padres when Alderson and DePodesta was there???

Oh wait, the Pads were in WORST condition when Sandy and D3po left.

I feel relieved already, thanks Bay(NOT)

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

I cant argue with facts. 😉

  • Connor O’Brien

So I guess that’s a no to any evidence then. Whatever.

    You’re right. I’m done.

  • Connor O’Brien

Cool. Proof is for nerds anyway right?

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    Why is EY playing???

He cant hit leftys or righties

And Grandy is getting 15m per he better start every game whether he sucks or not. If he doesnt hit this team wont do anything….Sink or swim with him

  • Brian D.

    Same here

  • Connor O’Brien

For sure. I doubt they’ll have anyone left after they get a hold of this insightful conversation.

  • AlexHZ

Get a fucking life and type like a normal person. I imagine a hyena speaking when I SEEEE PEOPLE LIKE this typing LIKE A MORON

  • AlexHZ

This place goes to hell after a loss, I’ve begun to notice. All the trolls creep out of the woodwork. Stop feeding the trolls and they will go away.

  • KennyandtheMets

    I can live with that.

  • KennyandtheMets

I see your point, but I don’t believe in playing guys because of salary.

  • Sach

Yes- where are all the trolls and naysayers after a win? SMH.

  • ColoradoMetsFan

Our curse can be pinpointed to the 2006 trade of Xavier Nady for Oliver Perez. Changed everything…:)

  • Brian D.

    Interesting. Thanks

Yes you are correct he is the worst SS by WAR. But he for his salary a smart move as other options would not have made a difference. Look at Brad Miller who I loved and ctitcized SA for not trading an elite pitcher for him. Look at Jhonny Peralta is he woth his salary. Is Jeter? Would have Stephen Drew?

Can you find the Toronto SS on the list?

Ditto for this: Jessep pointed out they could read Wheeler pitches and yet the article below says Wheeler hides his pitches. Whatever happened to the Inverted W that Joe D. alerted us to?

  • LIKayLGM

    Let’s Go Mets

  • LIKayLGM

Oh boy lets not rehash as you say or post facts, they didn’t give up anything. A guy who had a foot out the door for what every scout, even outside the Mets projected as being a top pitcher.

    Lets not rewrite history

  • LIKayLGM

Simple Mets fans are happy when their team wins! Non one has spoken WS so you are a LIAR or can only buoy call Conner that?

Only fan base that has people complaining when they are happy their team wins. Unfriggenvelievable!

“How is it different when we win…….kettle black…….”

    Dumbest comment ever,

  • Super T

Huh? How exactly did CY & Colon become Mets again?

  • SchadenfreudianSlip

I think Dice K has pitched really well and as a one inning options, he’s really good. This is how closers are born/found. I think Dice K has been pretty great so far and I’d be very comfortable with him there. And in terms of results so far, you think our closers are worse than what you have around the league? Its not like there are a ton of Mariano Riveras out there.

  • LIKayLGM

The Mets traded their best player because he was going to walk in two months, so you’d rather keep a guy for two months to get nothing then to have Wheeler? Right and Alderson’s the moron?

  • Hotstreak

    Yes he was intentionally overhyped.
