MMO Game Thread: Mets vs Rockies, 8:10 PM

jenrry mejia

After losing their first two games against the Colorado Rockies, the Mets will try to regroup on Saturday night when they send 24-year old Jenrry Mejia (3-0, 3.49 ERA) to the mound. He will be opposed by left-hander Franklin Morales (3-1, 4.40) for the Rockies in the 8:10 PM matchup at Coors Field.

Mejia is 3-0 in four starts this season. Since 1990, the only other Mets pitcher under 25 to win his first three decisions of a season was Matt Harvey, who started last season 5-0. The Mets are 4-1 in his five starts. Mejia is averaging 9.85 strikeouts per nine innings, the seventh-best rate in the National League.

Travis d’Arnaud is hitting .303 (10-33) with five RBI and a home run over his last 10 games.

Curtis Granderson hit his second home run of the season last night, a two-run shot in the sixth inning. Granderson finished 2-for-4 and has hit in three straight games and has also scored a run in five straight games.

Juan Lagares has 14 assists from centerfield over the last two seasons, tying Carlos Gomez for the most in the majors from that position, although Gomez has played 557 more innings than Lagares. At the plate, Lagares extended his hitting streak to 11 games after going 2-5 last night and is batting .333 (15-45) during that stretch. Lagares has at least one hit in 14 of the 15 games he’s played this season.

Eric Young Jr. is on the bench for the third straight game, while Anthony Recker gets the start behind the dish.

Starting Lineup

  1. Juan Lagares – CF
  2. Daniel Murphy – 2B
  3. David Wright – 3B
  4. Chris Young – LF
  5. Curtis Granderson – RF
  6. Anthony Recker – C
  7. Lucas Duda – 1B
  8. Ruben Tejada – SS
  9. Jenrry Mejia – RHP

Game Preview

The Mets had their second straight rough night against the Rockies last night and put themselves in a position that in order to split the 4 game set, they need to win tonight. Last night Wheeler also had problems in the Mile High City which is understandable, the Rockies not only play in an offense minded ballpark but have a great lineup. Tonight Jenrry Mejia, who insisted to Kevin Burkhardt last night, will try his moving fastball, not cutter, to slash through this Rockies line up who is throwing out Franklin Morales.

Jenrry Mejia is 3-0 this season over 5 starts and a 3.49 ERA over 28.1 innings of work and 31 strikeouts. His last outing was his worst of the season going 5.2 innings allowing 6 earned runs, although that’s tricky because the Mets bullpen did not help him with the runners he left on base. Last year he pitched 5.1 innings, allowing 5 hits, 2 runs and one earned against the Rockies. The Rockies have the following numbers against Mejia:

  • Tulo 1-4, 3 K
  • Dickerson 1-3
  • Arenado 0-1
  • LeMahieu 0-2
  • Rosario 1-2
  • Blackmon 1-1, HR

The Mets bats will try to get hot against Franklin Morales who is 3-1 on the season with a 4.40 ERA over 6 games and 5 starts logging 30.2 innings and striking out 23 batters. He had a strong set of back to back games with 13.0 innings and 2 ER but in his last outing he allowed 4 ER and 7 hits over 5 innings. In his career he has faced the Mets in 7 games over 4.1 innings allowing 4 runs, 3 earned. The Mets have the following numbers against Morales:

  • C Young 3-12, 2B, HR
  • Granderson 3-5, HR
  • Wright 0-2

Lets Go Mets!

http://nypost.com/2014/05/03/commissioner-selig-i-have-amazin-faith/ Bud the idiot Selig talking about how great fred is….hopefully the new commish eradicates the wilpons and blasts selig for letting them get away with destroying the franchise

  • Benny

“Juan Lagares has 14 assists from centerfield over the last two seasons, tying Carlos Gomez for the most in the majors from that position, although Gomez has played 557 more innings than Lagares. ”

    Ha!

    That’s just amazing…

Folks we have the best CF in the game, which is just awesome.

  • mets4lyfe

    Selig and Fred are bffs.

  • billpulsipher

i think i will take Gomez’ offense

  • MyasDaddy

    Makes you sick don’t it?

  • Taskmaster4450

I think “heating up” is a bit over the top when referring to Grandy and TdA.

  • CJM

Gotta say, a genius move by Sandy Alderson to have Mejia take the 5th starter’s role. The guy pushes all the right buttons.

  • Taskmaster4450

    Short sighted.

In a year, Lagares will be a better overall player than Gomez.

  • Taskmaster4450

Most on here were convinced he would give in to Collins’ desire for the vet in Dice K.

  • CJM

I mean, TdA has been consistently solid since his 0-15 start, so he’s not heating up, really. Grandy’s swing looks better than it did, and he’s hitting more balls hard. But I agree it’s a little early to say he’s heating up.

  • CJM

Honestly, going with Dice K wouldn’t have been the end of the world. But I’m very happy with the situation, and Dice K has been great from the pen so far.

  • MyasDaddy

You like anyone in the derby?

  • CJM

I guess it’s hard to go against California Chrome. Texted my buddy who has had some good picks in the past. He says don’t overlook Wicked Strong and if I want to take a chance on a really long shot, General A Rod.

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

Defensively, yeah, he is the best. All total, top 10…for now.

  • MyasDaddy

Could you ever bet an A – Rod horse?

  • MyasDaddy

    California Chrome is the chalk?

  • CJM

I think that’s exactly why I might bet him haha. His jockey is the guy who rode Orb last year too.

  • CJM

Yes a pretty big favorite too.

  • MyasDaddy

    Haha. Thinking the same thing.

  • CJM

I can get even odds on Wicked Strong for 5th or better. I might bet that which I think is a lock and also bet on general a rod. thinking 100 on each. hopefully i come away 2100 richer.

  • LIMetfan22

Pumped for mejias start but I also have him on my fantasy team. Anybody think I should bench him against the red hot Rockies?

  • MyasDaddy

You see I’m not a fan of favorites. Even finishing 5th of better. I’m going to be cheap exotics and really try to make a score.

  • mr mojo risin

I’m faced with the same dilemma. I choose to go down in flames with my guy ! …. if necessary

  • CJM

I just wish I had a sports almanac from the future. I’d be completely set.

  • Captain America

    Go RR

  • Captain America

    24 homers and 40 steals?

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Travis d’Arnaud is hitting .303 (10-33) with five RBI and a home run over his last 10 games. He leads all rookies in walks and ranks second in RBIs.

    Actually:

Xander Bogaerts leads all rookies in walks with 16BB.
Marcus Semien ranks 2nd among all rookies with 15RBIs behind JOSE ABREU(33RBI).

TDA really isnt even close to 2nd in RBIs Castellanos is 3rd with 14RBIs, Jackie Bradley is 4th w/13RBIs. TDA has only 7RBIs.

  • billpulsipher

Tanaka getting slaughtered by Tampa….im sure in 10 days against the Mets he will have 15 KS with this lineup

  • MyasDaddy

    Haha. 4 hours to post

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    JUAN LAGARES > MICKEY MANTLE
    JUAN LAGARES > WILLIE MAYS
    JUAN LAGARES > ROBERTO CLEMENTE

    Told you guys 😉

  • mynewdisqusname

In the same boat as you two, could’ve picked up Morales as a floater, but stuck with Mejia. More than anything, I just think the Mets are due for a good start.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    JENNRY MEJIA = PEDRO MARTINEZ

Of course you start Mejia who is better than Colon and Wheeler combined

    BBLB
    Formerly known as BNB 😉

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    Try 19Ks

He will strikeout everyone except for our 2 best players
    -Juan Lagares
    -Chris Young

  • everybodysbuddy

Maybe he was only talking about National League. I guess he should have said that though if he didn’t want to get hammered.

  • Pedro’s Rooster

Could your bold statement mean over the 10-game sample? Just guessing here….

  • MikePiazza3186

    Mayweather tonight

  • mets4lyfe

    “over his last 10 games”

  • mets4lyfe

What makes me sick is the fact that Citi Field is a tribute to the Dodgers.

  • mets4lyfe

    quite a bold statement there.

  • Russ

Granderson has reached base safely in the last 10 games. In the last 8 (post 0-22 streak) He has a slash line of .259/.355/.370. Not the .800 plus OBPS, but getting there.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Unfortunately that is still not the case

Jose Abreu = 15RBI’s in his last 10 games
Nick Castellanos = 9RBIs in his last 10 games
Marcus Semein = 6RBIs in his last 10 games

    Travis d’Arnaud = 5RBIs in his last 10 games

It was probably a honest mistake on the authors part.
Apparently this info came straight from the METS WEBSITE and they are the ones whom F’d up or lied, my apologies to MMO

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    No.

  • Actually, after researching this further, the Mets just had that completely wrong. We took that straight out of their game notes email. He doesn’t lead in the NL either so it’s not that.

It could mean 10 games but I don’t know where to verify that. So I deleted that line from the original post.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Wow so the Mets are making sh** up to fool the fanbase that things are getting better eh? lol

Id hope its just a statistical error on their part but these are the Wilpon run Mets and you cant put anything past them

FYI Its not 10 games either I did a little sleuth work and posted it above.

  • QueensRussell

16-13 will look a helluva lot better than 15-14. We need Jenrry to toss a gem this evening, boys!

Bats have got to figure out a way to get us at least six runs. Rox have made us look bad for two days; stop the hemorrhaging.

    Let’s Go Mets!!!

  • Pedro’s Rooster

    Leave Johnny Bench 2.0 alone!

  • Pedro’s Rooster

Well then, I’m fresh out of ideas for you. 😉

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Lol JoeD posted the reason below apparently they got this info directly from the Mets site. But the mets were flat out wrong or BSing everyone who read it

  • I’m pretty sure that on Saturday and Sunday they have interns who prepare and send out the media notes. First off they often contain silly typos or misspelled names. Second they are much more condensed than Monday to Friday.

It will give us something to laugh about tonight if GKR mention it when d’Arnaud comes to the plate.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

LoL….Nothing personal with Johhny Bench 2.0 it was just for accuracy sake

  • Peter S

    All true

  • Peter S

Maybe they meant his last 10 games, which doesn’t coincide with the teams last 10 games. Being that he had two days off.

  • Man you think everything is a conspiracy with this team. Can’t say that I blame you with the three stooges we have in the owners box.

  • Two of the few things that have gone well so far this season.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

LOL…I do not trust them…they are snakes

Theyd rather work hard deceiving us than to work hard to build and sustain a respectable team

  • $14435385

Not sure he’ll have the pop, but I think he’ll be a better contact hitter and a better OBP guy.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    nope

  • Brian D.

It should have been a no brainer

  • 3 runs 7 innings?

  • $14435385

Still feels like he’s too open to me. Look at him in this pic from 2011, then watch him today. As recently as ST he was driving balls the other way – now it feels like the only pitches he’s hitting are middle-in, and he’s pulling everything. He has been looking better, though…

  • Tanaka did what we will hopefully in time see Colon or Wheeler do, get beat up a bit and stop the bleeding and limit the damage. All in all it’s a pretty damn good start now….3ER 7IP I’ll take that from Mejia tonight!

  • MetsfanInParadise

NY Times didn’t hesitate to report it thus:

His seven runs batted in are the second most among National League rookies, and his nine walks lead N.L. rookies.

  • Peter S

Straight up idiots…I got it lol

  • beers22

Let’s take 3 out of the next 5 here guys. Obviously, Colorado’s not an ideal park for our team.

  • Pedro’s Rooster

Fact checking isn’t in the NYT budget, I guess…..

  • Now I don’t feel so bad. Should I warn metsblog before they add it to their Sound Smart feature?

  • KennyandtheMets

I hope Mejia has his command tonight. He is going to need it against this red hot team.

  • Sylow59

I’m not arguing he’s not but OF assists can be misleading. OFs with bad arms often have high assists because they’re run on a lot more. Nobody ran on Clemente. Nobody. I’m guessing Lagares will be run on less in time thus lowering his assist totals.

  • MetsfanInParadise

Most here would say don’t bother. They can’t help but Sound Dumb

  • billpulsipher

i posted that after it was 3 runs in 2 innings…unlike Colon, he settled down and kept his team in the game, instead of blowing the game up like el gordo

  • A lot of confusion on d’Arnaud stats. For what it’s worth both ESPN and MLB seem to confirm that d’arnaud is the NL rookie leader in walks coming into today and is 2nd among NL rookies in rbi’s to Mike Olt. The email was most likely a typo. The online pdf game notes may have been corrected if it originally was wrong as well since it states among NL rookies also.

  • MikePiazza3186

    Huh why is that????

  • BCleveland3381

    Recker is starting. Guaranteed win.

  • George_Theodore

Recker batting 6th ahead of Duda

  • BCleveland3381

Probably just because the lefty is on the mound. I think this says a lot about Satin though. Im glad they are giving Duda a chance to hit against the lefty though, Satin has been practically worthless this year.

  • George_Theodore

Yes, I like this lineup & glad to see Lagares in 3 days in a row..

  • BCleveland3381

    Lagares
    Murphy
    Wright
    C Young
    Granderson
    Recker
    Duda
    Tejada
    Mejia

  • BCleveland3381

They could be talking about NL rankings. All the other guys play in the AL.

  • KennyandtheMets

I hope Lagares stays in the line up and the lead off spot.

  • BCleveland3381

Nevermind, just read further below, that was debunked as well.

  • KennyandtheMets

Nothing lasts forever, but I hope you are right.

  • TC’s talking head

Heating up my @ss!!!! Grandy and tda “FINALLY” get a few hits and they are heating up?!? Give me a break! Make a trade and get some offense for gods sake!!!!

  • Anthony

    Stop the bleeding

  • TC’s talking head

Please baseball gods, keep Mejia healthy. He’s a definite keeper for a long time in the rotation. His stuff is nasty.

  • MetsfanInParadise

More protection for Grandy I predict another HR tonite. You read it here first!

  • MetsfanInParadise

    “Getting warmer.”

  • Erin_II

    Adam Rubin ‏@AdamRubinESPN 3m
Terry Collins now calling Juan Lagares his “everyday” outfielder, with sporadic days off to guard against hamstring reinjury.

And Duda batting 7th against LHP. Grandy 5th.

  • TC’s talking head

I’ll accept that. Terry belongs in a padded room if he doesn’t make Lagares the everyday C.F.

  • George_Theodore

Lagares kind of made that an automatic the way he’s hitting.

  • TC’s talking head

Like going from 0 degrees to 2 degrees in a blizzard

  • Happy Mejia Dia! LGM!

  • mets4lyfe

He’ll be singing a different tune as soon as Lagares has a 1-5 or a 0-3 game. That’s why I dislike Collins as a manager. He flip-flops between his decisions way too much to trust anything that comes out from his mouth.

  • since his 0-5 games to start the season, TDA is batting .267 with a .343 OBP. Or just hate the Mets for no reason. Your call

  • Anthony

Franklin morales will be. A cy young candidate after tonight

  • TDA is like Piazza and Bench had a love child and gave him an injection of Griffey blood

  • TC’s talking head

I will never hate the Mets. My comment was more directed towards Grandy. As fars TDA goes, he’s still only hitting around .210, so I am frustrated, not hateful.

  • with that terrible start. Dude is a rookie, was putting too much pressure on himself, etc. Since he got over the butterflies, he’s hitting rather well

  • probably not

  • Pedro’s Rooster

Days off to guard against hamstring reinjury? Is that an actual preventative measure, or is TC playing doctor?

Seriously, tho, I assume that’s a way to couch it so he can ensure playing time for everyone.

  • TC’s talking head

TDA defense has been impressive, and his HR from 2 games ago was a nice sign. I’m hoping to god that Grandy isn’t a black jason bay.

  • Anthony

Why the way we handled nicasio an de la Rosas .

  • BCleveland3381

Against lefties, I think I would consider Ruben Tejada for the leadoff spot. He’s actually hit them really well over his career. Lagares is fine there, but I’d rather see him hitting somewhere where he can drive runs in. I can understand Lagares leading off against righties just because of the lack of options in the leadoff spot.

  • a crap day. Meh. He’s still not a Cy Young candidate.

  • Grandy had a dingeroo last night too. He’s looking much better. He’s not gonna bat better than .250 so expect a ton of 1-4s but he’s gonna jack em

  • WillisReid

2 hits last night for Wright and another lefty tonight. Hopefully just what Wright needs to get it in gear.

  • how’s the new screen name working out, Alex?

  • WillisReid

I think he’ll end up having a Pedro Alvarez type year,

  • we can only hope

  • TC’s talking head

That’s the thing with Grandy. If he doesn’t hit HR’s, he has no value cause his BA and throwing arm is below average. He can cover a good amount of ground, but he will never be a GG. His defense reminds me a lot of EY.

  • WillisReid

    He’s fighting scrubs now.

  • Metropolitan

Yeah because we’ve got to get Wright “going”

  • we do. He’s an integral part of the offense. What were you going for there?

  • he has a good OBP over his career and is a better defender than EY

  • Metropolitan

I was not going for anything, just wanted to say we got to get Wright going à la Terry Collins because he has not said it about Wright

  • Metropolitan

I will really get angry if the Mets don’t win tonight

  • He says things that don’t make much sense the he rethinks them and ultimately winds up doing the correct thing. He declared Duda the 1B. Front office says “We’re shopping Ike again, get him in there” so Ike plays a few games.

  • what I liked was that play yesterday when he was on 2B and the ball was hit to the hole between short and 3B. He learned from his mistake the previously night when he was doubled off and made sure the ball got through before breaking for 3rd. Smart kid. Murph is still a dumbass tho

  • because he was going then slumped again. ML baseball players go through slumps.

  • le yawn

  • Anthony

He will look like one tonight

  • MetsfanInParadise

    baby steps

  • pastline63

See your point and agree-it’s creepy also, as if they are pulling some sort of scam like in the play and movie The Producers. Almost deliberate to cash in on some sort of loophole.

  • Metropolitan

    never mind…

  • Hitmanᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ ✔

Take him out of Miller and his production isn’t the same.

  • We can still salvage this series. It’ll be tough as hell but it starts with a clean game and a nice W tonight. Really feel like we have to get some good vibes going again. Big oppurtunity for Mejia to stop the bleeding so to speak. Hey, we ran into a damn buzzsaw the last 2 nights. The Rockies gotta come back to Earth at some point. Unless they end the year w/ 6 guys hitting over .350! Why not come back to Earth tonight. Let’s. Go. Mets!

  • QueensRussell

I am glad I am going out tonight. If things don’t go our way, I would hate to be sitting in front of the t.v. cursing and screaming. Still, LET’S WIN!!!

  • BarnRat

We’re sort of doubling-down with this game. We obviously need the W, but if Jenrry can pitch anything close to a gem at Coors and against this Rockies line-up, he’s going to feel like he can win against anyone anywhere (which maybe he can).

    LGM!

  • $14435385

This is a relatively important game tonight…it’s starting to feel like that lost road trip they seem to have every year. At least there’s no snow this time…

Need to stop the bleeding, Jennry…

  • let’s get the split. Winning 2 of 4 against the best offense in baseball (currently) on their home turf would be more than acceptable

  • billpulsipher

Alderson is a fool for the most part but he must have come down on TC and told him to play Lagares everyday because now TC is waxing poetic about Lagares. for once, the genius makes the right call

  • Andrew Herbst

We need Meija to pitch well tonight. Win tonight and then split tomorrow.

  • the trading an old knuckleballer for the game’s top catching prospect and a consensus top 20 [prospect SP (and an interesting low minors OF), 2 months of Beltran for the top SP prospect in the game at the time or 2 months of Byrd and Buck for an exciting IF prospect and a high ceiling reliever… was that when Sandy was being a fool or does his signing Marcum for a one year deal that didn’t work cancel that out?

  • Anthony

What’s with getting a life, sell out

  • pastline63

I am on the fence about Alderson, but he seems to have ideas but his bosses seem to castrate him at any turn when it comes to pressing foward

  • what’s he think he’s better than us or something? Sheeeeeit

  • The guy has a very good idea of what he’s trying to do. He is handcuffed by finances as he was in the latter portion of his time with the A’s. Then he still managed to build the foundation of a perennial contender. He is doing the same now

  • Mario Gonzalez

I get that the coupons are “broke” but where has he been castrated? He loathes giving big contracts to anyone so I’m not sure where the castrating comes in.

  • MetsfanInParadise

That’s actually not a bad idea. He did some leading off, back in the days before he’d given anyone reason to doubt him, when he was considered a potentially adequate replacement for Reyes. He’s sorta like Mejia–he was the FUTURE then he wasn’t but he’s still young enough to regain his status.

  • Destry

Agreed. I would lead him off vs LHP, and play Q vs RHP.

    vs LHP

    1. Tejada-SS R
    2. Murphy-2B L
    3. Lagares-CF R
    4. Wright-3B R
    5. C. Young-RF R
    6. TDA-C R
    7. Grandy-LF L
    8. Satin-1B R

    vs RHP

    1. EY2-LF S (.357 OBP vs RHP)/Lagares
    2. Murphy-2B L
    3. Wright-3B R
    4. Duda-1B L
    5. CY/Lagares-CF R
    6. Grandy-RF L/Lagares
    7. TDA/Recker-C R
    8. Q-SS L

Lagares would be in the lineup everyday against RHP too, and rotate the other three to keep them fresh.

  • pastline63

Will not argue with you there-just would like to see him perform with no handcuffs and see if he is all that some think he is cracked up to be-not putting him down just curious about his role in the Wilpon nightmare.

  • Destry

We hit LHP much better than we do RHP. The Mets will score some runs tonight.

  • Mario Gonzalez

    I’m with you there chief!!!

  • He built a dynasty when he had the leeway to spend.

  • pastline63

He mentioned cash at the end of last season-he said he expected payroll to be at 110 to 115 million -can go to 120 if right player came along-was this part of the Wilpon game or him being sincere.

  • Mario Gonzalez

    When did he spend though?

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

No its the “9 STRAIGHT LOSING SEASONS AS A GM” that tells you all you need to know about Alderson Genius or lack thereof.

FYI Youre only credit for trades when the players you acquire achieve more or produce at the major league level

And so far Beltran has outperformed Wheeler every year
Dickey although he has struggled has produced more than everyone he was traded for etc etc

  • BarnRat

Sandy and the Wilpons are a marriage of convenience. He doesn’t like to spend money and they don’t have any to spend. Everyone’s happy (oh, except us).

  • MetsfanInParadise

Trading an expiring contract for high prospects doesn’t require talent evaluating skills, because it’s not a comparison between like qualities. It requires negotiating skills. Rather than “which horse is better” it’s more like “how many sheep can I get for this cow? The free-agent signings haven’t reflected good talent evaluation, nor have they made a trade that requires it-they’ve all been for universally ranked prospects. Sandy is a good bean counter but now the decisions have to be made by baseball men.

  • pastline63

Now that is where I would put my money on, but I feel there is a riff between him and the Wilscums-there is more of a dynamic to it all

  • Mario Gonzalez

    Very well said!!

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Its easier to blame the Wilpons expecially when Sandy is the 1 at fault

  • the A’s had the highest payroll in baseball before they changed owners and he was forced to slash costs

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Thank you. LGM!

  • he’s not though. No matter how many times you claim to the contrary

  • Mario Gonzalez

Yeah i just looked that up. The reason for my question was that when he was in the MLB offices, he was appalled at the lavish contracts being tossed around the league. With that in mind, I really doubt if he actually had to money to spend, he would spend it.

  • well, it’s 8 straight losing seasons but I don’t expect the Sandy Haters to fact check each other. Maybe a bit less regurgitation might make it a bit easier to take you seriously.
Secondly, he was forced to cut payroll dramatically while with the A’s and now with the Mets but hey, facts don’t mean anything to you people. See above.

  • BronxMets

    are you kidding?

  • BronxMets

no he had a steroid fueled lineup you need to look up the word dynasty.

  • pastline63

Glad you put your input into the discussion -I am just someone who as a former military background-my thoughts are in an investigative mode. Something is rather odd happening behind the scenes, but can not place my finger on it and in the end we are suffering.

  • care to elabor.. wait, of course you don’t.

  • BronxMets

elaborate on BS they do that on the news not interested.

  • they went to the WS 3 straight years and the ALCS a year after their last appearance, dude. Only won once but is that your big hangup? OK, man. Whatever. I’ll take 1/3 WS wins for the Mets over the next 3 years

  • He is opposed to crazy contracts now and he is right to be. It’s ludicrous. However, if Jeffy opened the coffers, I don’t think he’d be worried about spending a few bucks on players he felt were worth the expense

  • so as usual, you got nothing and you’re going to present the fact that you got nothing as support for your position. Compelling.

  • pastline63

Hey I am side by side you there

  • BCleveland3381

I think Sandy has done a solid job flipping this franchise and rebuilding the farm system. If you want to say, “just look at our record”, then yeah, he failed.

But nobody in baseball has dealt with a worse situation than Sandy did. From having to cut payroll 60 million in 3 years, deal with farm system that wasn’t very good, in a market that won’t stand for rebuilding, he did the best job he could under those circumstances.

Having ridiculous goals really just shows me you hated the move all along and were going to crush it no matter what.

  • perhaps “dynasty” is the wrong word since they only won once but 4 playoff appearances in 5 years with 3 WS and a championship? Yeah, anyone except the most delusional Sandy Hater would say that’s pretty solid

  • don’t try to logify with this guy Cleveland. He knows he hates Sandy and the facts must be molded to support that illogical position

  • pastline63

I want something in that range and it is possible, but is this all part of the Wilpon game?

  • whatcha mean?

  • pastline63

Ever see the movie the producers? It is as if they found a loop hole and intend to cash in on it at our expense.

  • BCleveland3381

I think Sandy was the right guy to fix the farm system and keep this organization’s head above water as well as possible for the last 3 years. The pitching depth on this team and in the farm system going forward is amazing. The offensive talent pool is weak.

I think this is a big season for Sandy. Everything he has done has pointed towards this season being the start of contention, if the Mets aren’t a .500 team at the end of the year, the heat on him becomes justified in my mind. A .500 team that adds Harvey, and a piece here or there is pretty easily a playoff contender. Another 74 win team and it’s on Sandy.

Im open to the fact that Sandy helped rebuild our farm system but may not be the guy to take this team to the next level. This season will have a lot to do with that.

  • MetsfanInParadise

I think he’s more comfortable with statistics than he is with the eyeball test or gut feelings. Just like decades of playing gave Jeter the instinct to be in he right place for “the flip” and a chess player can tell how a game will develop, the guys who have spent 30 years on the field with players are going to have a better idea of who’s capable of what or what we need. The hitting philosophy is a perfect example. It looks great on paper but not all batters have the eye or the patience to identify and wait for that perfect pitch, and some hit bad balls as well or better. They need to identify and enhance each player’s particular skills. I don’t think Sandy gets that. What would he have done with Vlad Guerrero? Satin s another example. He’s 29, he’s never going to be more than he is now, and he can’ hit off the bench. And he strikes out too much for a contact hitter. He’s a failed experiment, regardless of his minor league numbers. With his lack of power he’s only valuable if he hits .320. They need to risk losing him through waivers because he’s not all that valuable and play the odds that Campbell or Lutz will succeed. They can’t be any worse. Skill decisions, not accounting decisions.

  • ooh, haha. Gotcha. Nah, I just think they are broke as a joke and want to build a contender on the cheap so they can start making money in baseball again. I am an avid hater of Mets ownership. I would LOVE to see Jerry Seinfeld, Cuban and Jay-Z make a bid for the team. I cannot stand almost every move they make. On the other side, I think Sandy has done some solid work. He’s not infallible but he’s done a nice job with the limited resources he’s been provided

  • MetsfanInParadise

See my comment below for related thoughts

  • pastline63

This where I get confused- agree with you, but is this part of the Wilpon act, and he is playing his role. And waiting for his pay day.

  • Metropolitan

The difference between Oakland A’s Sandy and the New York Mets one is he hired Tony LaRussa for the A’s and Terry Stinkin Collins for the Mets…see the disconnect ?

  • dude has been paid already and he’ll probably be commish one day. I don’t think the Wilpon situation is any more complex than it appears. They have no money and the team has been subpar. They need more people to go to games to generate revenue to invest back in the team. What they fail to recognize somehow, is that they need to invest money to make money. This is something that every businessperson understands, from a corner bodega owner to Tim Cook at Apple. The Wipons seems to think they can generate more revenues by getting lucky

  • Metropolitan

at least you are a somewhat rational Sandy lover

  • that’s the difference, huh?

  • Sandy Lovers don’t exist, Metropolitan. That’s how they differ from Sandy Haters.

  • BCleveland3381

I think that’s a fair take. Some of the free agent moves have worked, some haven’t. Guys like Capuano, Chris Young(the pitcher), Marlon Byrd, and LaTroy Hawkins were good buy low guys that outproduced their deals. He’s had some busts with buy low guys as well, but that comes with the territory.

As for the more big money guys, before this season the only guy that would make that list was Frank Fransisco, and he was a terrible signing. No clue why he shelled out that much money AND two years to a guy that was never good. Granderson isn’t looking great, but it’s still early. This year’s crop of free agents will probably decide for sure.

  • BCleveland3381

“Sandy Lovers”. LOL. I don’t even like Sandy that much. I think he’s probably a middle of the pack GM. But when people on here ridiculously overstate how bad of a GM he is, I end up having to be on the side defending him. He isn’t a great GM, but he isn’t nearly as bad as a lot of the haters on here have pegged him to be.

Unlike guys that hate Sandy, I actually have an open mind that every move could actually be good OR bad for this organization.

  • MetsfanInParadise

So a “Sandy Lover” is just a regular person. And a “Sandy Hater” is…. I like it.

  • basically. If you’ve successfully completed 3rd grade, you’re a Sandy Lover.

  • MetsfanInParadise

I think Sandy’s more comfortable with statistics than he

  • MetsfanInParadise

I’m going to re-post above my rational analysis of Sandy, which is more critical than anything but I’m not a lover or a hater, for the record.

  • KennyandtheMets

I teach third grade. I neither love nor hate Sandy.

  • you should invite BBLB, BronxMets and Metropolitan to sit in on some of your classes

  • that would be a problem with inflexibility rather than the philosophy itself. Waiting for a pitch to drive is not bad advice. It is what hitting coaches everywhere teach. They take it to another level and that is to their detriment. If you can’t be a successful selective major league hitter, then you’re probably not a major league hitter.

  • Pedro’s Rooster

    Oof–well done!

  • KennyandtheMets

There have been guys who were great bad ball hitters through MLB history. It isn’t very common, but it happens. Vlad Gurero, Yogi Berra, Manny Sangian are a few examples.

  • if you CAN do that, then you should. However, most guys cannot. Sandy & Co’s problem is that they want to force everyone to adhere to their philosophy. The problem isn’t with the philosophy itself because more often than not it is good advice

  • KennyandtheMets

Sandy has made some strong trades. No question. However, if he doesn’t bring in a legit power bat soon, this team will soon fall below 500 and stay there, IMO.

  • MetsfanInParadise

The organizational philosophy is that they all have to try to do it the same way. They’re all being graded on the same criteria. That’s like telling Justin Verlander and Mark Buehrle that they’re being evaluated the same way-whether it’s by strikeouts or grounders, it’s unfair to one of them

  • Mejia DIa. Vamonos.

  • I agree – I think the Mets are currently 1 legit bat away from making serious noise. It’s time for him to prove that he can be a successful buyer. He’s shown that he’s got what it takes to get some nice deals from the sell side

  • right – the rigidity is the issue but people often mock the approach itself. The approach is the same thing you were taught since little league. “Wait for your pitch”. Hell, the philosophy can also be applied to guys like Vlad. It just happens that his pitch is the one 4 inches off the ground 🙂

  • KennyandtheMets

    Lol.

  • MetsfanInParadise

The only things that matter-outs, wins, hits, runs. Doesn’t matter how you achieve them.

  • KennyandtheMets

I agree. Guys like Duda, in particular, need to be more aggressive. I think Lucas has begun to do that this year.

  • bah, enough of this negativity. Is anyone else very excited for a Saturday night spent watching King Jenrry spin a gem?

  • Anthony

I already nodded out the game hasn’t even started. I’m shot

  • He’s the best example. Dude is a friggin ox. I like that he’s selective but he needs to be unleashed on a 1st pitch fastball if he gets one

  • MetsfanInParadise

Absolutely! LGM. And take note-just about that entire juicy intelligent opinionated conversation occurred with civility and no name-calling (except for one random Sandy Lover reference). lets talk about the game tonight, not about each other.

  • MetsfanInParadise

Damn-between this and cooking I missed part of TCs’ pregame radio show

  • Anthony

Nothing like killing a Saturday night

  • KennyandtheMets

Exactly. Sandy deserves credit for creating the pitching depth in the organization. It is time to parlay some of that into at least one big time bat. Preferably a RH bat. Honestly, I think it is past time for this to happen. I wanted to see it this past off season. I think we disagree on Jose Abreu, but I wanted Sandy to sign him. Once he signed with the White Sox, I wanted Sandy to make a trade. I don’t really get the Chris Young deal.

  • MetsfanInParadise

You can probably find some WWE on TV if it’s conflict you’re looking for. Or a hockey game.

  • Anthony

They had a translator what insight

  • billpulsipher

    more like 3 bats

  • KennyandtheMets

Especially with guys on base. It really bothers me when a strong guy like him takes good pitches to hit in RBI situations.

  • to replace whom? I am sure I’ll get a reasonable and logical answer.

  • MikePiazza3186

    Just let your Soul Glo!!!!!!!

  • I’ve liked the Young signing since the start. A bit out of the box but I think he can have a good deal of success and either be extended or traded off for prospects depending on the situations. We definitely need to unload some minor league pitching for a bat. If we can trade Thor and Flores for Tulo we should do that every day of the week and twice on Sunday

  • billpulsipher

Marcum, Acosta, Granderson, Francisco, holding onto Reyes instead of dealing him at the deadline, handing 20 million to a PED 42 year old Colon, failing to get Abreu, giving 7 million to chris young who hit .200 last year and was bidding against himself, continuing to trot out Tejada, his utter failure to acquire a legit replacement for Parnell, his love for Duda, not trading Wheeler for J Upton…shall I continue on his mistakes? and idk if you should be taking bows for Wheeler, the more this guy pitches, the more he looks like a 3rd/4th starter at best

  • MetsfanInParadise

Interesting factoid-David Cone started on May 3 three times as a Met. Shutout,8 scoreless, shutout.

  • BronxMets

You said dynasty i didn’t you just throw words around

  • MetsfanInParadise

Yeah-hit a high pitch for a sac fly

  • billpulsipher

point is, the worst offense in the league is more than 1 bat away from becoming a legit offense. they may be 1 bat away from becoming “decent”.

  • BronxMets

No you throw untruths around then challenge people. I don’t argue with BS. That sit that simple

  • $14435385

If you look at the team from an owner’s (rather than a fan’s) perspective, he did the three things they wanted him to do: cut the payroll by 40%, revamp the prospect pipeline, and present an articulate public face for the franchise during a crisis. Has he been perfect? Not at all – lots of bad judgment on FAs (ones he signed and ones he didn’t) and picks (though that one’s yet to fully play out).

But from the Wilpon’s perspective, Sandy did exactly what they wanted him to do, because winning has never been a priority to them; it was subordinate to their other goals (keep the team, cut expenses, be sustainable with lower overhead – specifically payroll – from year to year).

Of course that line of thinking fails to take into account the opportunity costs and long-term brand damage caused by sucking for so long…but I wouldn’t expect that kind of high-level thinking from Jeffy & Co.

  • Acosta? Marcum? Are you joking?
Granderson is a bust after a month with the team, huh? First season watching baseball? Colon was a fine signing. Reasonably priced innings eater. Reyes was injured, what is he going to get for him? Not to mention what he meant for the team. Baseball is entertainment, not a business where all you care about is the bottom line. Reyes was in the midst of a batting title run and got people tuning in. Instead, he held onto him and got Reynolds and Pawlecki as comp picks. Not too shabby.

Pretty much every single scout praises the hell out of Wheeler’s stuff. He hasn’t been lights out but not a whole lot of rookies are. He is still growing and will be an excellent pitcher one day.

Duda is a league average 1B. How dare Sandy have an average player on the roster??! Parnell was fine and recovered from his surgery. You don’t sign a backup closer just in case

  • you don’t get to field a 12 man roster. Who would these 3 bats replace?

  • Mike Lloyd

Pigpen gonna be filthy tonight-let’s go Jennry! Let’s go Mets-need to bust out here after 2 stinkers…maybe players are on a ‘Rocky Mountain High’.

  • Anthony

That reminds me of a song

  • Anthony

I’m breaking out my home karaoke machine

  • Mike Lloyd

John Denver? Betcha he never realized how it could be misapplied.;)

  • what untruths? What have I said that is factually incorrect? Surely it’s easy enough to point that out.
Sandy has not had 9 straight losing seasons. It’s been 8. Fact.

  • slightly hyperbolic since they only won one but 3 straight WS appearances and getting at least to the ALCS in 4 of 5 seasons. That’s a pretty dominating 1/2 decade

  • MetsfanInParadise

You have it wrong. He knew what he was saying and knew some people would go past the surface meaning to understand. And the last chorus contains the line “Friends around the campfire and everybody’s high”

  • igotyourbackman

Saturday night! Clean slate. Jenrry pitching. Let’s Go Mets!

  • Anthony

Wake me when we are out of Colorado

  • Bail4Nails

I’ll believe Colorado’s offense if they can hit Mejia (which they won’t). Colon and Wheeler are nothing more than trade-bait in my humble opinion. Jenry’s the real deal.
I hope Grandy magically became a hitter last night, but I’ll believe it when I see it. Like Recker in the 6 Hole. Would LOVE to see anyone else in the Tejada Hole, but Management still sucks- what can you do? Try to Win anyway. It’s Dia Mejia! Let’s Go Mets!

  • Terry’s face last night when Murph was caught inexplicably stealing 3rd was priceless
“Even *I* know that was a stupid move, Murph” – Terry Collins

  • you lucky dumbass

  • George_Theodore

Murph was lucky on that one!

  • $14435385

Damn, someone needs to shoot him coming around 2B (a blowdart will do).

    Nice RBI for D Wright.

  • George_Theodore

    Call up Flores!

    Wright should steal 3rd

  • mets4lyfe

Smart of Morales to pitch around CY and get to Grandy.

    Duda baby!

    Tejada is an inning killer

Gary REALLY LOVES that Strasburg story.

Anyone see Tejada throw his bat after that strikeout? like he isnt used to striking out every other at bat lol

  • Some raw emotion there from Ruben… Slams his gear to the ground…

  • sperry

Aww don’t throw the bat Tejada, it’s not your fault that you aren’t very good. It’s the Mets’ fault for making you think you are by being the only team in baseball who would make you their starting SS.

  • MetsfanInParadise

he hears the footsteps behind him

At least we cleared the Tejada’s spot. We get the Pitcher Leading off next Inning.

  • I think it was the check swing.

  • I think you have a different Bible than I do

  • I think Mets starting pitchers are still hitless, 0-for-40-something

  • Taskmaster4450

Yeah so we can get that loudmouth Cohen telling us the Mets are 0 for whatever this season.

  • amarksupreme

Im wondering, how many hits do Mets pitchers have?

  • BarnRat

    That was funny

  • Anthony

    Ask gary

And just like Lagares, Arenado is showing he isnt just all glove this year. He wasnt much of a bat last season…now he is.

  • KennyandtheMets

I don’t dislike Young. I just feel that we need a legit power bat in RF. Granderson should be in LF. He doesn’t have a RF arm. I can’t see the Wilpons taking on Tulo’s contract. I’m not sure I would, given his injury history. Shouldaswung was posting about Soringer (from Houston) on another thread earlier. He looks like a great fit for us in RF and the Astros are looking for pitching.

I’m glad people are finding out this series why Arenado won the GG over Wright. Wright is a good defensive 3B, but Arenado is a GREAT defensive 3B.

  • igotyourbackman

    Tejada is fielding angry…

  • MyasDaddy

Yeah OKC and the horses. I hit pretty good today so it’s not too bad. I really wanted to see Mejia pitch.

  • BarnRat

Anyone else think Duda is leaving the bag early when he doesn’t need to?

  • George_Theodore

He was going to either be off tonight or Sunday.. makes more sense to put Recker in against the lefty

  • Manager of The Year

At the end of the day I think Helton is a hall of famer

  • George_Theodore

    yes

  • igotyourbackman

Tejada’s throw actually was a bit wide

  • iwamofo

I can’t even see the ball on the tv with the sun/shadow…

  • Dude was a hit machine. A juiced up, playing in the thin air of Denver, CO hit machine 🙂

  • Run Support Group

I would too, but I understand the case against him. He was a slugger who flourished in the steroid era and played in Coors Field

  • HarveyKsYou

Wright should’ve won in 2012.. Not last year, he didn’t even play a full year. I don’t know why Gary keeps saying that Wright should’ve won last year when he is mixing that up with 2012.

  • Bail4Nails

Anyone else find it a little funny that Mets games on SNY are filled with Disaster Preparedness commercials?

  • Run Support Group

Why does it say CY has no homers??

  • Anthony

    Cameraman is juicing

  • Helton not a HOFer to me. All his best and all star seasons were when all the Rockies hitters were tearing it up and pre-humidor.

  • Manager of The Year

This camera is just terrible I didn’t even know what happened on that last play

  • Andrew Herbst

    Bad camera work.

  • MetsfanInParadise

    respectfully disagree

  • camera guy is taking advantage of the recently legalized recreational plants CO offers these days I think

  • mets4lyfe

Damn, Wright popped up on that SB like Spider-man.

  • mr mojo risin

    camera got a ‘late break’

  • igotyourbackman

    wait that wasnt an out?
    sheesh

  • iAmDevlynT

Keith is in love with David Wright this game.. The amount of compliments he’s giving out to the Captain tonight..

  • Manager of The Year

I see your argument but there are a lot of things forgotten about when it comes to the HOF. For pitchers things like ERA and K’s matter but what mainly matters is wins and that’s something pitchers can’t control. I think there are definitely flaws in the HOF

  • igotyourbackman

these 0-2 counts need to stop Grandy…

  • Anthony

    Get this run in

  • goorru

It’s funny with Colorado they talk about the stadium meanwhile the hof is filed with Yankee hitters.

  • HarveyKsYou

    It’s a miracle!

  • att boy Grandy!

  • Metropolitan

    The grandy-man can

  • Andrew Herbst

    Good job Grandy.

  • grandyman sighting!!

  • Ted Danson

    Mission accomplished!

  • Jgreen

    FINALLY

  • Run Support Group

    Ayyyy grandy

  • iAmDevlynT

That strike called on the check swing got him heated.. Plus Flores is hitting .289 down in AAA coming into today.. Hearing footsteps?

  • George_Theodore

Keith said ribeye steak, take a drink..

  • igotyourbackman

good at bat. dug out from that 0-2 count….

  • Totally agree with you on that. One thing that goes against Helton is not reaching 3,000 hits or 400 HR playing in that park. But he was a doubles machine and drew a ton of walks.

  • Andrew Herbst

It was. I love the way he battled. Especially against a lefty.

  • mr mojo risin

    Curtis GetgoinSon

  • MetsfanInParadise

You beat me to it, Stork

  • Skip

    Clutch….ha

  • Super T

“I think there are definitely flaws in the HOF”

Don’t think you would get much disagreement there.

  • mets4lyfe

    Umpire giving out free strikes

  • igotyourbackman

i honestly didnt think anything other than a K was gonna happen.

  • Andrew Herbst

Same here. I had a feeling he was going to strike out.

  • Run Support Group

    Recker+TDA is a good combo

  • Metropolitan

    our turn!!!

  • Jgreen

    what a day

  • Mcgrupp81

    sweet

  • iwamofo

    Recker should get more starts

  • looks like someone finally told the Mets they’re playing in CO

  • igotyourbackman

    Recker can’t miss.

  • Anthony

    Little bingo

  • Manager of The Year

Like I said I could really get used to scoring like this

  • Andrew Herbst

Recker has to get more playing time.

  • Wow Recker is always contributing to a Mets win when he plays!

  • he gets plenty. He’s the backup catcher

  • beers22

    Anthony effin Recker Day boys!!!!!!!

  • sperry

No. He’s this good because he’s not overexposed

The Mets record in his starts however will be a fun little stat all year

  • WilponsNeed2Go

Glad to see the bats warming up today.

  • Metropolitan

    Recker is an everyday catcher

  • MetsfanInParadise

Terry said he was going to but the half-life on Terry’s statements is about 6 hours

  • Run Support Group

    No

  • iAmDevlynT

I think I’m gonna like this TDA and Reck combo.. until Plawecki come up.. or maybe if Reck keeps playing like this.. Plawecki gets traded..

  • Andrew Herbst

I take everything TC says with a grain of salt.

  • No doubt

  • When did it go up? Thought it was 3 hours….

  • beers22

I think we have one of the top 1-2 catcher tandems in baseball, but right now I still think TDA needs to be the regular catcher despite the fact that there probably isn’t a huge discrepancy between the two.

  • MikePiazza3186

    Needed this badly!!!!lgm!!!

  • igotyourbackman

Come on Rubern, get a knock here.

  • Run Support Group

It’s strange, even though the gun says 92 for Morales it looks slower. Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me?

  • igotyourbackman

its the fog of THC it has to go through.

  • Mcgrupp81

Swing like DiMaggio! I was telling a fellow Met fan at work that I am not terribly concerned about his HR power because it always comes in bunches. If the Mets manage to get another impact bat, it’ll relax Wright a lot.

  • beers22

yep, instead of criticizing TDA, you’re actually pointing out the positive.

  • Andrew Herbst

Yes it will be a fun stat to follow.

  • that was a bullet Rubie

  • beers22

    GG my ass

  • Run Support Group

NOLAN ARENADO MADE A FREAKING ERROR IS THIS REAL LIFE

  • LOL nobody’s perfect!

  • Manager of The Year

A rare Arenado error take note of this day everyone

  • MetsfanInParadise

With 6 it’s conversation fodder overnight but down to imperceptible traces by the next afternoon’s pregame, freeing him up to contradict what he said yesterday

  • Andrew Herbst

You’re right. Very solid backup catcher.

  • WilponsNeed2Go

Tejada gets a little help from his friends.

  • igotyourbackman

    ok! Ruben contributes…. haha

  • Metropolitan

    Arenado!!

  • Mario Gonzalez

I doubt he’s hearing footsteps. Ever since last year he’s been dogged by the FO. A little emotion is good to see from him.

  • Rocky Thompson

After a slow start, Dominic Smith is up to .220. Cecchini is up to .279.

  • indeedy – he isn’t as good as he’s been and TDA isnt as bad as he’s been

  • Andrew Herbst

    Will that get Tejada going?

  • iwamofo

    Mets makin’ history

  • Taskmaster4450

D Smith moved his average up from about .160.

  • Super T

If there is a record for futility the Mets will find it.

  • Metropolitan

Wow Cohen sounds proud…he loves misery

  • Hitmanᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ ✔

    False.

  • WilponsNeed2Go

Who said we wouldnt break any hitting records this year?

  • amarksupreme

Im really loving that error on Arenado for some reason

  • psst. You’re cheering for the other team out loud now.

  • BurnInHellWilpons

hopefully the only going of tejada we get is him going to another team

  • Andrew Herbst

    Yep. Let’s hope so.

  • Manager of The Year

I feel kinda bad for Satin. For his skillset he isn’t a good pitch hitter nor does he have enough power for first. If he played 2nd or SS where power isn’t a necessity he may be a much more valuable player

  • Taskmaster4450

I wish Cohen would just shut the h*ll up.

  • maybe he’s your soulmate?

  • MetsfanInParadise

He loves anything Met and noteworthy. It’s a hoot!

  • Metropolitan

well it was because of him we got the run..have to give him some props..Tejada does not deserve it that is for sure

  • iAmDevlynT

Flores average up to .289 coming into today after hitting under the mendoza line all year.

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Yes, yes it will.

  • BarnRat

Legal herbs, team sponsored by beer, SS who leads the league in everything. Could be Colorado has figured it all out.

  • it was a very well struck ball. If it is a slow roller, Arenado makes the play so yeah, Tejada deserves some credit

  • MikePiazza3186

Cohen loves the mets so why would we hate him for that??

  • Rocky Thompson

Good call by the Mets starting him at Savannah. And any thoughts of sending him to Brooklyn should be done with.

  • igotyourbackman

he just likes to talk about odd crap at times… the obscurity of facts intrigue him…

  • Run Support Group

Everything besides how to build a competent pitvhing staff

  • igotyourbackman

yeah, i’d go with Rocky the Rock myself.

  • Metropolitan

    no no hitter 🙁

  • Guest

other teams’ pitchers fail at bunting too. good to know.

    Murph!

  • Metropolitan

  • igotyourbackman

hey now! as the world turns!

  • goorru

Down by 6 runs running on contact is dumb base running.

  • mets4lyfe

Mejia’s only allowed 3 base-runners, but it feels like more.

  • Taskmaster4450

Two not so well hit balls find grass and the one that is ripped ends up as a DP.

  • Metropolitan

come on lets score some more runs..no lead is safe here

  • igotyourbackman

the beauty and pain of baseball…

  • Taskmaster4450

He learned base running from Murphy.

  • MetsfanInParadise

This seems to be one of those nights when the breaks are evening out. Baserunner misses 2B, line drive DP

  • mr mojo risin

  • see? This is how you positively cheer your team on. I knew you could do it

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    He does play 2B

  • Metropolitan

I have my positive moments …here and there

  • igotyourbackman

$14 to see a game. imagine that. with a mile high view.

  • Taskmaster4450

    Citi Field in September.

  • meanwhile Ike is batting 9th for Pitt tonight. Sad to see

  • igotyourbackman

i chuckled. but not this year!

  • Taskmaster4450

Double switch…he didnt start the game.

  • igotyourbackman

    is it?

  • Jgreen

    holy fck

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Im convinced Travis d’Arnaud is the reason we are losing.

Recker in the lineup today and POOF!

The bats start working again and pitching is…..well he has Mejia on the mound and we all know

    Mejia > WildWheels
    Mejia > Colon

    Trade TDA ASAP!
Dude is Bad luck and he cant hit

  • igotyourbackman

damn, that was a great play….

  • Metsaholic

    WOW is right.

  • Anthony

    Nolan sucks

  • Taskmaster4450

CY lost 2 hits this series because of Arenado.

  • MetsfanInParadise

    WOW.

  • BarnRat

Last couple of Septs should have been “buy a Poland Spring and get a free ticket”.

  • mr mojo risin

geez, any other 3B and that’s a hit

  • goorru

    It’s probably not luck.

  • double switch in an AL park?

  • Metsaholic

DW is never getting another gold glove as long as that guy is in the league.

  • iwamofo

Not to take away anything from Arenado but that ball was two steps to his right, he just makes the Jeter throw which makes his plays look amazing.

  • Andrew Herbst

    Arenado is an amazing fielder!

  • well, I’d rather have him suck on someone else’s team but I wanted to see him do well

  • Manager of The Year

    Don’t forget Machado

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    Youre right he sucks

  • mr mojo risin

    we’re doing downvotes now ?

  • igotyourbackman

his swing is broken. he won’t be in the bigs next year.

  • Mario Gonzalez

    Season’s still early

  • Taskmaster4450

When did PIttsburgh become an AL park?

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    Arenado > Wright

Another potential trade aside from the Upton/Wheeler deal that Sandy screwed up and didnt pursue.

    Thanks Sandy

  • mr mojo risin

I don’t know, he gets rid of it so quickly

  • donobrien

    funny, very funny ^^^^^^^

  • I didn’t see pitchers in either lineup so assumed it was in Toronto. They’re just both in the middle of the order now

  • Taskmaster4450

    Dickey 0 for 3.

    Lariano 0 for 1.

Not sure what you are looking at.

  • Mario Gonzalez

    Where??

  • Christopher Hoffa

He’s better defensively and he’s younger, that’s about it

  • change of scenery, more hitter friendly park, more hitter friendly division and he is still terrible. Dude is broken

  • mr mojo risin

    lemme find out

  • Taskmaster4450

Bring your 3 kids for free.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Can you smoke weed at Coors Field???

If so do they go around selling weed bags like bags of peanuts at a game???

  • iwamofo

As a fielder yes but I’m taking Wright’s bat everyday over Arenado.

  • igotyourbackman

The new roof deck at Coors – standing room only ticket…

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

And a better hitter NOW with a ton more potential.

He goes up while Wright continues to go down

  • Lotus1209

Dude seriously now you’re just abusing it. I understand everyone’s making a joke out of it but this is getting out of hand. Enough with this Sandy b.s

  • Super T

    Ike PH for the pitcher.

  • .267 with 10 HRs last year playing 1/2 his games at Coors field. You have never been right about anything on this site

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    Who’s joking?

    Im serious as death -_-

  • Holy cow, I need to go out to dinner with the family more often. Shocked to see us up! Good Indian food and now maybe a win to top it off!

  • igotyourbackman

Hope I don’t jinx it, but pitch count looks good…

  • MetsfanInParadise

I think there are limitations on what you can do in public. Fortunately there are none on what I do in private.

  • Christopher Hoffa

I agree with the fact that Wright will decline, but in no way is Arenado a better hitter than Wright. Even in his years of decline, he will be a better hitter even when Arenado is aided by the fact that he plays in Coors

  • Manager of The Year

You know Arendado plays in Coors where his bat is average

  • Mario Gonzalez

If only they had those at Citi everywhere. Place would be sold out always.

  • I remember when trolls took pride in their craft. This is just lazy and tedious

  • Metsaholic

    Was that a 95mph fastball?

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    You’ll lose everyday going forward….

And FYI because I know its coming Arenado is hitting BETTER on the ROAD than at home in Coors field. So its not a product of his stadium

  • IndianaMet

You’d rather see Bartolo swing the bat or see one of our pitchers lay down a bunt instead of a legit hitter take his cuts?

  • Jgreen

    Don’t feed him with replies!

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Check the stats Arenado is a better hitter on the ROAD than he is at home.

    1 Myth down.

  • Catching up…looking at box..nice to see Wright and Grandy hitting! Mejia getting the job done.

  • mr mojo risin

they walk around saying ‘pssst, hey buddy’

  • Metsaholic

That is the best road uni.

  • Benny

There’s a limitation on how much one can consume “publicly,” but considering the Rockies are privately owned, they can pretty much set their own rules, ala “no smoking.”

  • igotyourbackman

    agreed.

  • Christopher Hoffa

No he isn’t. If you look at his career line, he is clearly better at home than away. You looked at his 2014 stats, which is clearly a small sample size.

  • neither one of them are still in the game and neither team’s pitcher is batting in the 9th hole now. It really isn’t terribly important but please, continue

  • iAmDevlynT

I couldn’t agree more.. We need just one more bat.. and our lineup will look scary.. A guaranteed clean up hitter is what the doctor is prescribing..

  • George_Theodore

    Who’s the Geico Sportsnight hottie?

  • mets4lyfe

Mejia hit 95-mph on one of his cutters to Tulowitzki.

  • you’re a liar and a bad one at that.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    Rookie season lol…

What is he doing now….and he hits better on the ROAD.

  • mets4lyfe

    They sell brownies at Coors

  • MetsfanInParadise

I love the piping. It’s so classic. I agree with Gary about the racing stripes. They’re special because of 86 but they weren’t so attractive.

  • Metsaholic

If up to me, it would be only that and the home pinstripe.

  • BCleveland3381

No lead is safe. Good start so far by Mejia, but he’s struggled in later innings, and in this park and against this team it can turn quick. Lets keep adding on. It’s about time the offense helped out our pitching.

  • BigAl831

    a 3th grader?

    Man you are so right!

  • MetsfanInParadise

I like the home whites with the piping.

  • Manager of The Year

    Where is your source?

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Only 47 pitches

  • over 60something at bats this season. For his career, his numbers are far worse on the road than at home.
    1 Myth down

  • igotyourbackman

    yes, but only on Sundays.

  • iAmDevlynT

I agree.. but I definitely thinking the footsteps will get louder if/when Flores cracks and remain at .300.. I say about a month

  • you really want him to post a pic of his arse?

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    Arenado

  • MetsfanInParadise

Gotta appreciate a player who can talk up his own guy AND give credit to the opposition.

  • iAmDevlynT

    Recker just missed that one..

  • so rather than using his career splits, you’re just gonna roll with the small sample size of this season and pretend no one is gonna see how full of mierda you are?

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

His career? LMAO…he was a Rookie that only played 130something games lol@Career

    Im done with you

  • igotyourbackman

    Camptown Races! DUDA!

  • Metropolitan

    inning over..

  • Jgreen

Man seriously it’s time to say good bye to Satin

  • hahaha so he “only” has played 130 games so let’s ignore them in favor of the much smaller sample size from this season because they currently skew in favor of the argument you’re making
    El Oh El

  • MetsfanInParadise

Maybe, but not by hitting their best player. After all, they didn’t hit ours.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Career? He only has 1rookie season under the belt.

You never determine a player by their rookie season.

Lagares is he the same hitter from his rookie season?
    I rest my case

  • goorru

Then We would have to hit a ballboy to retaliate.

  • I am not sure if you’re stupid enough to believe what you say or whether you just think we are

  • igotyourbackman

Let’s go Ruben! Ducks on the pond….

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

  • Manager of The Year

Call up Florse please. If he can’t play it at the major league level than call up Reynolds. We need a new face at shortstop before we throw up from getting force fed Tejada

  • Christopher Hoffa

The hole at SS has to be fixed. Give the spot to Flores to let him showcase his bat so that he can be moved in the offseason as a part in a big deal. He’s on fire right now in AAA. He isn’t the SS going forward, but Tejada clearly isn’t as well. Might as well let him show what he has.

  • unless that player’s name is Travis d’Arnaud of course. You’re a clown, man,. Grade A clown

  • igotyourbackman

on fire, meaning he had a good game last night?

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Youd be a fool to trade Flores ESPECIALLY if he played in the majors and excelled with the bat.

  • MetsfanInParadise

    He’s exciteable

  • iAmDevlynT

He’s hitting .289 for the season after his average was below .200 for most of the year.. Seems like he’s on fire a bit

  • Christopher Hoffa

.387 average over his last 9 games with OPS north of .900

  • mets4lyfe

    Duda can hit

  • WilponsNeed2Go

I wish but even Im not that naive to think anyone would take Wright off of our hands for a good return now.

  • Mario Gonzalez

Wow. One hot month for Reynolds and now the calls for him to be up are starting. Guy wasn’t much before his one hot month. Let’s wait before we call him up.

  • Mike Lloyd

    I prefer TUMS. Lol

  • George_Theodore

Dice-K starting to warm up for the 9th.

  • I haven’t seen an update for today yet

  • Anthony

    Wtf

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Id play him at SS now. If he proves he cant handle it but if his bat plays well at the Major league level.

He makes Murphy(who’s contract is expiring) expendable, and we can trade Murph who will soon be on the wrong side of 30 to fill another NEED!

  • Metropolitan

This could be the start of a meltdown folks!

  • BCleveland3381

Get the bullpen ready, Terry. Now isn’t the time to mess around.

  • BarnRat

Weld Mejia and Niese and they make a monster starting pitcher

  • Taskmaster4450

Collins will wait until the Rockies score 5 runs before getting anyone up.

  • MetsfanInParadise

6th inning. And “far be it FROM you…”

  • WilponsNeed2Go

The only one more surprised by Mejia slowdown than BBLB was Dan Warthan…shocked.

  • Anthony

    Dice k haha

  • Taskmaster4450

    Terry likes Tequila.

  • On the mound for the New York Human Centipedes, Jonnry Niejia

  • Mario Gonzalez

Ok, now the ump is squeezing him. At least according to gameday

  • iAmDevlynT

We’d get a minimum of 2 top prospects for David Wright right now.. Even before todays 3 hit game

  • Christopher Hoffa

We can’t have a team that is filled with only young players. You will need a mix of veterans, and Murphy’s personality instills a good atmosphere in the clubhouse. He will probably end up being extended. On top of that, our team will be comprised of young pitching. With young pitching, we will want strong defense up the middle, which means that Flores won’t stick at SS

  • MetsfanInParadise

    meant to put that below

  • BCleveland3381

    WTF DUDA!?

  • PessiMets

    Horrendous

  • WilponsNeed2Go

    Duh!

  • BCleveland3381

    He would have been out.

  • MetsfanInParadise

Oh, don’t take him seriously. His views are so distorted that to treat them as reality is preposterous.

  • Mario Gonzalez

    Ok, what did I miss?

  • Metropolitan

not the best throw by Murphy…the dude is just a goof

  • George_Theodore

    Ike would have caught that

  • the kid has never hit in the majors but he’s suddenly the replacement for one of the most consistent hitters on the team and one of the top 10 best offensive 2Bs in the game.
    Sandy Hater logic

  • Anthony

Duder has a lot on his mind

  • Metsaholic

    Safe.

  • Selltheteam06

you blame that on murphy? take off the shaders

  • Alwayzamazin

True that! BBLB speaks the truth. You won’t find a more truthful poster than him.

  • Mario Gonzalez

    Ok, bad relay got it.

  • Jgreen

    Can we just have Harvey

  • Selltheteam06

oh i got you my bad yeah duda needs that

  • MetsfanInParadise

Leroy reaches a new low. Wright is so bad they can’t even trade him. Just like Ike, huh?

  • PessiMets

This game is going to b tied pretty soon

  • Anthony

    I hate this park

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

TDA’s 1st taste was in 2013. I didnt judge him on that.

Its 2014 and Im still not judging him but the leash is getting TIGHTER!

TDA is a rookie but he is what maybe only 2years younger than Duda??? His time is running out as a prospect.

He’s 25…usually guys are coming into their prime years TDA is just starting

  • goorru

My wife would have caught that.

  • BCleveland3381

Is the bullpen actually warming up yet, or just Dice K screwing around? Someone’s gotta be up here!

  • BarnRat

    No challenge left

  • igotyourbackman

    Let’s GO METS!!!!!

  • Taskmaster4450

Someone should have been up 3 hitters ago.

  • Metropolitan

    Meltdown !!!

  • Metropolitan

    Wheels wobbling

  • PessiMets

Take him out wtf u waiting for?

  • iAmDevlynT

I think Leroy lives in CO.. With the great weed laws..

  • George_Theodore

if you need a reliever in a hurry, dice-k is not your guy!

  • MetsfanInParadise

it’s not his fault they didn’t turn the DP but he’s gotta be able to focus and shut it down.

  • igotyourbackman

the DP ball… for the 2nd time.

  • Alwayzamazin

    dice k put his cap on…tooo late…

  • BCleveland3381

That’s what I said. It’s obvious to everyone here that Mejia looked off. Even Gary and Keith said it. In this park against this offense isn’t the time to let a young kid work through it.

  • Mario Gonzalez

Wow, some of you guys need some valium. Chill people.

  • MetsfanInParadise

Tying run at the plate. I’m just sayin’

  • Taskmaster4450

Mejia lost it after the HR.

    Just like the last game.

  • Jgreen

What is wrong with Mejia’s 5th inning??

  • WilponsNeed2Go

I understand letting your starters work out of jams, but this is just negligent management now.

  • igotyourbackman

ok, even i say take him out. he’s gassed or something…

  • Metsaholic

    Hang in there Jenry.

  • PessiMets

The mets r getting swept their inability to tack on runs kills them each time

  • sperry

Seriously. It’s not like he’s battling these guys then losing on the 5th or 6th pitch. They’re just teeing off on him.

  • Mcgrupp81

    Come on Terry!

  • igotyourbackman

at 64 pitches too… what the hell is going on….?

  • Metropolitan

    payback !!! Got him!

  • BCleveland3381

Honestly, hitting Tulo might have been best case scenario. Bring Dice K in now.

  • Alwayzamazin

    get the hook!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Please take him out, stat.

  • Selltheteam06

Mejia should have been pulled about 4 batters ago

  • WillisReid

Wow. Meija just falls apart so quickly.

  • they’re up by 2 runs and this is a 4 game series. If you’re gonna be negative, at least make sense

edit: well that wasn’t true for long

  • PessiMets

    Here comes 8-4

  • Mike Lloyd

I think he drinks it too much then.

  • George_Theodore

Terry waiting for the grand slam

  • HarveyKsYou

Mejia proving he’s not capable of being a starter.. This won’t end well:/

  • Mcgrupp81

    F U Terry

  • George_Theodore

    called it!

  • BCleveland3381

Terry Collins can burn in hell.

  • Alwayzamazin

    dear lord

  • Manager of The Year

You are now on my hit list

  • HarveyKsYou

    Mejia sucks.

  • MAS0031

    F Off!!!!!!

  • Selltheteam06

    WORST MANAGER EVER

  • BronxMets

    Terry Collins is an idiot

  • PessiMets

    Told u

  • Metropolitan

    Coors field..no lead safe

  • BurnInHellWilpons

    HAHAHHAAHAHAHAH GOTTTA LOVE IT

  • igotyourbackman

    called it.

  • Mcgrupp81

Can’t wait for the post game explanation

  • mr mojo risin

    are ya fuggin kidding me

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

WTF IS TERRY DOING WHY DIDNT HE TAKE HIM OUT EARLIER

  • Metsaholic

    Sh!t!

  • WilponsNeed2Go

You can hang this loss on Terry too. Thats three for the year.

  • bspo1

I’m sorry you need to be more mentally tough then that. Here comes the sweep

  • Anthony

    Unreal nice job by all

  • billpulsipher

call Montero up and put Mejia in the damn bullpen. He sucks as a starter

  • oleosmirf

Nice job Mejia. Second start in a row you fall apart with a big lead.

    Completely and utterly disgraceful.

  • Alwayzamazin

    typical terry

  • Taskmaster4450

How do you allow a pitcher to give up 8 runs in an inning?

  • Yes, finally a bit of Terry realism from Ron and Keith.

  • PessiMets

    They’re up what?

  • $14435385

For those who think managers don’t lose games, here’s another example. Not over yet, but Stevie Wonder could have seen Mejia was done.

  • George_Theodore

    Fire Collins

  • Jgreen

    Terry never disappoints us

  • HarveyKsYou

    Such typical mets.

  • igotyourbackman

I’m really bummed. He fell apart and they just left him in there… why?
I’m all for leaving him in, but way too long that time. Thats on TC.

  • Manager of The Year

Terry Collins is a joke and doesn’t deserve to manage even A ball

  • you hope he doesn’t allow 5 runs off of long balls?

  • It’s on Mejia for pitching like crap

  • How does anyone not see this coming? You know how many people saw this coming? The world population – 1.

  • igotyourbackman

no doubt this is why they wanted him in relief, perhaps?

  • Taskmaster4450

    Mejia is weak mentally.

Gives up a HR to Stanton last time…he falls apart.

Gives up HR today, he falls apart.

  • SCalNTMetfan

    TC is an idiot

  • goorru

Terry Collins must put his condom on after he has sex.

  • Destry

And that’s why Terry Collins is the worst in the business

  • BurnInHellWilpons

    cant stand em!

  • Selltheteam06

    Wheeler sucks!

  • mets4lyfe

why are the Rockies swinging at first pitch strikes? Do they not realize that’s not how you score runs?

You have to be patient and wait until you’re 0-2 before you can start swinging at fastballs.

  • Christopher Hoffa

how do you leave in a starting pitcher to give up 8 runs in one inning…??

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    “for a good return now.–BBLB”

    Reading comprehension.

    You need it

  • Andrew Herbst

TC pulled a Grady Little. What was he thinking?

  • Metropolitan

    The Wheels are off

  • amarksupreme

there was one visit already. but I agree, get Terry outta there!

  • PessiMets

Mejia needs to go to the bullpen bring up montero

  • BronxMets

    Dan came out

  • Erin_II

Good thing I pledged my oath to the team, or I`d be pissed at Terry Collins for allowing this to happen.

  • Alwayzamazin

    with SA?

  • Mcgrupp81

Just a snippet of what was going on in Terry’s mind these past 5 minutes: “Meow Meow Meow Meow Meow Meow Meow Meow ….”

  • sperry

I’m blaming this on Terry because it was obvious Meija just lost it, but how does that happen? Cruising then you just forget how to pitch? What?

  • MikeyT

Mejia starting to look like a 5 inning pitcher. 2nd and 3rd time through a lineup he just throws batting practice

  • Mejia is in the floor of the dugout having a tantrum right now

  • WillisReid

Put this guy in the BP.

  • igotyourbackman

    8-6

  • WilponsNeed2Go

This has got to be a mental thing for Mejia. To pitch great one inning and fall apart the next, in two consecutive starts, and in the same inning?

  • Destry

That’s on Terry Collins. Not even a visit to the mound

  • Taskmaster4450

Where’s Leroy and his 5 innings 1 run crap and his Mejia better than Pedro.

Seems Mejia is working his way out of the rotation.

  • oleosmirf

How do you blow a 5+ run lead 2 starts in a row??

He only had like 50-60 pitches too so he shouldn’t be tired.

  • bspo1

I agree after these last 2 starts the league has figured him out. Not fooling a soul.

  • iAmDevlynT

Montero.. is that you boarding the bus?

  • Metropolitan

Sandy Alderson hired Collins then gave him an extension

  • doesn’t make your comment make any more sense when you made it

  • PessiMets

    Agree

  • Taskmaster4450

He is weak mentally. He gives up a HR and loses it.

  • BarnRat

Oooooh… Wow, I’ve been trying to figure how that could’ve been handled worse.

  • HarveyKsYou

    The. Mets. Are. Cursed.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

140mil contract and a no trade clause(10-5 rights)

Yeah lets see you get 2 really good prospects

    Lol…you should think this through

  • Christopher Hoffa

I guarantee half of the comment-ers on this blog could manage this team better than Terry Collins.

  • $14435385

Can’t stand this park, and not just because they lose a lot here. Just not a fan of 12-10 games.

  • BronxMets

What can happen in a half hour

  • Tom

He’s looking like a reliever, has no business being in the 5th inning.

  • Taskmaster4450

Two biggest mistakes of that Alderson made.

If the Mets lose this game, it will be lose #3 on Collins.

  • BCleveland3381

HR and single to start the inning meant someone should have been getting ready. No reason to let Mejia pitch after Blackmon’s single. Then he hits Tulo and it’s obvious it’s lost. We’re playing in the most hitter friendly park in the history of baseball, there is no reason on earth you let Mejia go that far. And even after he hits Tulo, he’s left in to give up a Grand Slam?

Terry Collins is without a doubt the worst manager in baseball. The guy can’t even make the lineup card out and put the right guys in there. Bullpen management has always been terrible. Awful…..just horrible management.

  • bspo1

Here comes the 6 game losing streak

  • igotyourbackman

    well thats a given…

  • MetsfanInParadise

Wow. Can’t believe it actually happened. Not often it gets that bad. We talk about our worst nightmares but that’s almost incomprehensible. Those last 2 pitches Mejia didn’t even stop to think about -he just chucked them. Recker should have been out there to slow him down and refocus him before he threw that pitch. Most managers call catcher moves like that from the bench. So not only did Terry not make the pitching change in time, but he absolutely failed to take responsibility for what was going on on the field.

  • BarnRat

Devils Advocate: Dice-k = Fed Ex — next day delivery guaranteed.

  • MikeyT

League has figured mejia out Put him in the pen

  • $14435385

He wasn’t prepared – started his bullpen too late. Dice K is not the guy to come in in a situation like that – he needs 20-30 pitches to warm up…he’s even said as much. The other night he was throwing in the 5th inning in case he was needed in the 7th-8th.

Someone else should have been throwing. Someone else should be managing.

  • BronxMets

    hey where you been?

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

Guys we still got 4 innings to hit!

  • SaberMets

BBLB disappears when Mejia falls apart……coincedence?

  • Mario Gonzalez

Um, it happens, genius. Whether he lost it after the HR is irrelevant.

  • Manager of The Year

Honestly Mejia gets destroyed 3rd time around the order. He is a 5 maybe 6 inning pitcher. I think Toby Hyde made some good points saying we should piggyback him with DeGrom

  • iAmDevlynT

We got 2 decent prospects for a month or 2 of Byrd and Buck.. Not hard to think

  • igotyourbackman

i am worried. I hope not.

  • MAS0031

Terry will talk in the post game how Mejia battled in the 5th inning.

  • PessiMets

Mets aren’t scoring the rest of the way

  • Jgreen

Dicek was probably aiming for 6th or 7th inning… just look at Mejia’s pitch count before this shittt

  • goorru

If Dice K wasn’t ready you can stall. Did Warthen even make a trip to the mound?

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    GET OUT

  • BurnInHellWilpons

just blew a 6 run lead… this team just got a hard punch to the gut. wouldnt surprise me if they get 3 hits the rest of the game.

  • BCleveland3381

    yeah he did.

  • Manager of The Year

    By my count loss #4

  • iAmDevlynT

I really question whether you’re a Mets fan every time I’m on here..

  • MikeyT

Unfortunately I agree. I wanted him to start but he has no businessstarting

  • BCleveland3381

Thank god I have a Middle Ages double IPA to ease my pain.

  • Metsaholic

    Don’t respond to this guy.

  • WillisReid

How about pitching like a professional?

  • Manager of The Year

Sometimes I think you’re just Omar Minaya under a made up screen name

  • sperry

I mean the Mets have had problems with tacking on runs after early scoring for as long as I can remember. Putting up 4 runs or more early on then being 1 hit the rest of the way is pretty standard for them.

  • WilponsNeed2Go

your trolling is more predictable then a swiss time piece.

  • HarveyKsYou

You know we have innings that long for our offense.. But we only come away with two runs lol.

  • Joey D.

    Holy Shyte,

Turned off the game with a 6-0 lead cause MJ and I wanted to catch the end of Bil Maher that we missed last night. Then put it on split screen, saw a Rockie greeted by a few at home plate jumping on him, and was floored to see it suddenly 8-6.

Catching up with this stuff about Mejia being kept in too long and Dice-K not being ready and Keith being angry and saying “tough”. Wow

  • igotyourbackman

    Beer. yum.

  • Alwayzamazin

terrys talk will be total gibberish

  • corny12491

Honestly, the experiment was worthwhile, but I think we’ve seen a good sample. Swap Dice-K and Mejia.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    OMG READ!!!!

“If he proves he cant handle it but if his bat plays well at the Major league level. He makes Murphy(who’s contract is expiring) expendable—BBLB”

Did you see the BUT/IF he hits at the major league level part???

Lmao…Its embarrassing take reading comprehension classes we shouldnt be subjected to this level of stupidity on MMO. You should be banned just for your poor reading comprehension

  • Super T

    Seems like the logical decision.

  • BCleveland3381

What a clown. Non met fan. Funny how you wait to respond until we’re losing? Go root for your Yankees.

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    Were going to win

  • igotyourbackman

Lots of time left. Get the wood out and start hammering Metsies!

  • Super T

    Nice.

  • welcome back, Alex. Did your time away cause you to reflect and matur… what the hell am I doing? Of course it didn’t.

  • oleosmirf

Why would you put Dice-K in the rotation? He’s been a good reliever.

You DFA Valverde or send down Familia and bring up deGrom.

  • MAS0031

Bring up Montero, put Mejia in the bullpen and cut Valverde.

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    If only you knew..

  • MikeyT

Agreed. Once hitters have seen him the mejia is toast. Just tossing bp. He has no business starting

  • Emmanuel

My goodness can you guys stop f*cking whining. You’re acting like we just lost game 7 of the world series.

  • But so many like to point out that the manager does not impact the final result. I feel like I’m pointing this out almost every night.

  • Metropolitan

    Mets not doing so well

  • BCleveland3381

10% alc too, which is important when watching games like this.

  • bspo1

Terry honestly deserves to be fired. He is absolutely clueless and has done nothing good for this organization. Terrible hire. Must fire ASAP.

  • Mario Gonzalez

Ok, 2 bad starts and it’s off to the BP, eh? Sure hope Bartolo and Wheeler come back strong or we’re gonna have a loaded BP.

  • Alwayzamazin

    90 wins alex!
    #core

  • HarveyKsYou

Until we get an ace (Harvey will be back next year), and a good bullpen, this team can’t compete. We have 3/4s in the rotation but not one who can dominant. If we had a really good bullpen and average hitting we’d be a lock for playoff contention even this year.

  • George_Theodore

    hey chago!

  • MikeyT

Fully expecting to get shutout the rest of the way. Won’t even mount a threat

  • Joey D.

    Hey Say my dear friend,

An unexpected pleasure! Thought we were not going to hear from you until the cannibals were chasing you out of the jungle!

  • you have to get embarrassed for him. I mean, even though this is an anonymous forum, you’d think he’d have a little self respect, no?

  • This is my fault. 8 – 0 Rockies since I turned it on.

  • Super T

You’re not missing much chago, enjoy your travels.

  • Metropolitan

Funny how Sandy hired Tony LaRussa for the A’s but gave us Terry Collins…

  • Mario Gonzalez

    What happened to the (CH)?

  • George_Theodore

lol… TC still sucks in case you were wondering

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    Wright = 30+
    Granderson=33+
    Duda = 29
    Recker = 30+
    Colon =40+
    Farnsworth = 38+
    Abreu = 40+
    Valverde = 35+

How many geezers do we need we are in the 40’s

FYI Tejada doesnt have strong defense at SS. And if you are so hell bent on defense up the middle you dont want Murphy there since he is below avg.

Our problem now is OFFENSE or a lack thereof thats whats hurting our pitchers the most. Lack of run support.

  • Mcgrupp81

Mismanagement doesn’t usually get as blatant as that. Even a 1st grader would have questioned why Mejia was left in there for so long.

  • PessiMets

    U get out

  • corny12491

They will wait until June to do any callups. Hence why I proposed a switch

  • oleosmirf

It’s not “on Terry” It’s on Mejia for falling apart in the 5th inning of the 6-0 game.

Yea Terry should have taken him out, but Mejia channelled his inner Ollie Perez there.

    It’s all on him.

  • skyking26

The correct scoring Mets 6 Terry Collins 8. We lose this one this is on Terry.

  • Erin_II

If I`m running the Mets, Bob Geren is the manager tomorrow afternoon.

  • MetsfanInParadise

Recker should have gone to the mound between the HBP and the HR. Mejia should not have had a chance to chuck that last pitch without any thought.

  • Mario Gonzalez

    CHAGO!!!!!

  • Metsaholic

Hope all you guys jumping of the Mejia bandwagon at least have parachutes. Jess, relax guys. It’s his first full season, at 24 years old.

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

Whenever my brother watches the mets they are 0-6.. He just turned on the game about 15 minutes ago..

  • And he puts it on his finger.

  • MetsfanInParadise

    He’s clueless

  • Joey D.

It’s so wonderful to hear from you pal. You OK?

  • Metropolitan

    Just on the interim right???

  • SaberMets

Gotta be patient with the youngsters but he needs to show some poise and avoid those complete melt downs. Get em next time.

  • PessiMets

I want to see how fast the mets go down this inning

  • MetsfanInParadise

You know what you have to do

  • HarveyKsYou

Yeah well why don’t we keep making excuses for every player.

  • bspo1

    Balloon has exploded.

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    Yes…. yes i do

  • goorru

No doubt, they have to stall and Warthen and Collins need to learn to walk in their mound visits.

  • WillisReid

Although I’m not sure he’d have the mental make up for any late inning work.

  • Mario Gonzalez

You really banking on Harvey coming back and pitching like last year post TJS?

  • Manager of The Year

I hope you have a great time on your trip Chago.

  • MetsfanInParadise

Sorry, man. Sometimes being a Met fan means sacrifice.

  • Even if the Mets lose tonight, they are a game over .500 having played one of the toughest schedules in the league over the first month. You somehow thinks this is a vindication for your pessimism – primarily because you’re a halfwit

  • Mcgrupp81

They’re is always a trouble maker. Assault him with a Nerf gun or something until he vacates.

  • igotyourbackman

Murphy gets it going….! Wright now Wright!

  • PessiMets

Everybody here was screaming to take him out

  • Joey D.

    Hey Say Friend,

We’re doing pretty good. MJ feeling stronger. My prostrate biopsy was negative. And most of all – you popped in!

  • $14435385

    Yikes…

  • Mario Gonzalez

So which is the Real Mejia? These last 2 starts or what he did prior?

  • donobrien

METS WIN 12-10 . Hang in there!

  • Metsaholic

You can continue to make excuses, no one is stoping you, Enjoy.

  • Jgreen

Braves and Nats lost or almost lost tonight and yet Mets never want to join the competition.

  • Metropolitan

comeon Wright hit a damn home run for Christ sake

  • MetsfanInParadise

That’s at least 4 that are directly laid at Terry’s doorstep-2 Gee starts, this one, and at least one other I forget.

  • corny12491

His BA against after 2nd time through the order is pretty telling, for all of his starts.

  • Taskmaster4450

Take a base hit to get a run back.

  • CY hits 2 run ding-dong to tie it up

  • HarveyKsYou

We could really use a home run.. Can this team actually hit a HR when it matters.

  • bspo1

    No

  • iwamofo

This is why none of us fans are GMs. Fans react immediately to what they see when Mejia is a pitcher with tons of potential who just needs to get innings over a full season.

  • BCleveland3381

It will be interesting to keep an eye on Mejia and see if these kind of meltdowns continue. It’s not even like he starts to lose his stuff. Seems like he just loses it mentally. With DeGrom and Montero seemingly ready to come up soon, and Syndergaard after that, it will be interesting to see if Mejia gets moved out of the rotation if he keeps struggling in the middle innings.

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    hahaha

  • igotyourbackman

    i’d take a passed ball and a single….

  • Metsaholic

    Sure they can.

  • Alwayzamazin

packing my bags for Colorado! Great baseball and legal pot!

  • Joey D.

    Hi Fearless Leader,

Stop showing off! I flunked high school Spanish and had to take my Regents exam twice – second time passed it with a 65! All I remember was “Como Esta Usted.”

  • MetsfanInParadise

    CY tie it up

  • Pedro’s Rooster

Mets were up 6-0, now down 8-6.

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    Strikeout in 3…2….

  • bspo1

He needs to see a shrink. These kinds of melt downs he has had are unprecedented.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Byrd didnt have a not trade clause plus a sh** load of money owed to him

Let me spell it out for you

    1. Wrights contract $140mil= It eliminates more than half of the teams in the MLB who cant afford to pay an aging player.
    2. Wright has a no trade as well as 10-5 rights. Meaning he can CHOOSE where he goes or you CANT trade him. So the Mets GM is screwed because other GMs know that Sandy has NO bargaining power.
    3. How do you explain to your fans youre trading Wright now after giving him that contract? Sandy never admits to mistakes nor does the Wilpons.

So good luck thinking its easy peasy moving the Captain and his albatross contract.

  • Pedro’s Rooster

    1.

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Rockies new mascot?

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Wabbit season!

  • Metsaholic

    Wrong again.

  • Mcgrupp81

    Missed that one CY.

  • MikeyT

He’s already worn out his welcome in the rotation. These total meltdowns clearly show he doesn’t have it between the ears to start

  • Pedro’s Rooster

Mejia imploded, and TC left him in for the grand slam coup de grace to Arenado.

  • Alwayzamazin

Chago, post pictures if you can! glad all is well! Eileen

  • Mario Gonzalez

    Mejia

  • Joey D.

Well, two run lead isn’t safe in this park but can’t hit a home run if one can’t get wood on mistakes. CY is now facing a right hander.

  • iwamofo

Mejia has pitched great this season except for those two 5th innings in which he exploded and everyone wants him in the bullpen already.

  • Mcgrupp81

    So close…

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    OH MY GOD SO CLOSE

  • Metsaholic

We’re gonna have roast wabbit. We’re gonna have roast wabbit. We’re gonna have roast wabbit. We’re gonna have roast…

  • igotyourbackman

its the 3rd time through the rotation thing. Hitters adjust, but he can’t it seems, then mentally maybe gets lost….

  • HarveyKsYou

  • Jgreen

    CY!

  • Just missed….nice shot.

  • Joey D.

So there goes my statistical analysis. LOL

  • skyking26

I don’t call it a melt down as much as leaving your starter in too long

  • bspo1

Each of these games in this series has gotten worse and worse. Next on to play Miami who also doesn’t lose at home. Welcome to May.

  • ooh so close

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

Not watching. How’s this one Collins’ fault?

  • WilponsNeed2Go

    Nice at bat!

  • BCleveland3381

We don’t even have HR power in Coors LOL. Nice hit though, Young!

  • PessiMets

We better not lose 8-7 great ab. By CY

  • by leaving Mejia in about 5 hitters too long

  • sperry

Just casually leaving Mejia in to get knocked around for 8 runs

  • Metropolitan

    it is effing ridiculous

  • HarveyKsYou

Granderson get a big hit for once!

  • MetsfanInParadise

    OUR new mascot!

  • Metropolitan

yeah right these guys just can’t hit a home run when it counts…

  • Mcgrupp81

wrong part of the ballpark. Granderson needs to drive this run in.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

WTF happened it was 6-1 I look up and its 6-8!!!!!

How did Collins allow Mejia to surrender 8runs without YaNking himbefore the bleeding got that bad???

    Jenrry Pelfrey

  • BCleveland3381

He left Mejia in way too long in the 5th. It was obvious to EVERYONE Mejia had lost it. Even Gary and Keith kept mentioning it. He kept struggling, gave up 4 runs, then beaned Tulo to load the bases. He should have been pulled 2 or 3 batters before that. Even after beaning Tulo, he left him in and he gave up a grand slam. Horrible managing.

  • Erin_II

    Now you`re upset they scored?

  • Gland1

    good call

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    7-8*

  • Geez what the heck happened????

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

Were you not watching? TC happened

  • Joey D.

    Hi BBLB,

You too? I left with it 6-0 and came back when it was 6-8.

  • Erin_II

You`d really SUCK as a gambler.

  • igotyourbackman

we’ve got to challenge our guys, see what they got and get em going — TC

  • MikeyT

It’s much more than adjustments. This guy has shown no ability to handle pressure, battle and pitch his way out of jams

We’ve already see him throw a hissy fit like a 6 year old. Guy is not mature enough to start

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Thanks but that still doesnt explain why didnt Collins yank Mejia before things got way out of whack

  • HarveyKsYou

    Jenrry Perez

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

    Two game winners not enough?

  • BCleveland3381

Even Gary and Keith were mentioning how lost Mejia looked. He gave up 4 runs and then beaned Tulo and Terry STILL left him in and he gave up a granny.

  • MetsfanInParadise

Not only that, but he should have sent Recker out to the mound to calm Jenrry down after the HBP, instead of allowing him to chuck a meatball up there without thinking. He ignored the situation totally. he’s just not a good enough brain to process all the details

  • Mejia gives up 8 runs in an inning. Somehow it’s not his fault

  • $14435385

He’s clearly an emotional player, and that can work for or against you. If he’s going to make it in this league, he’s got to learn to have a short memory…otherwise it won’t matter how good his stuff is. There’s also the possibility that he hasn’t got enough variability in his repertoire to get through a lineup three times on a consistent basis…the jury is out on that one, but his stats sure suggest that it’s something to keep an eye on.

  • 2rings

    come on Grandy. Lets rake

  • Alwayzamazin

    no excuse

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    :-O

  • Erin_II

I like that he hit that up the middle and didnt ttry to pull it..

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Well, well, well. LGM!

  • MikeyT

Cechinni up to about .275 too

  • corny12491

Looks like we might have a football game tonight boys

  • HarveyKsYou

Okay he’s not as bad as Bay anymore.. Bay never got any big hits and never hit the ball that hard in consecutive games!

  • George_Theodore

    game reset

  • Metsaholic

    Go get’m Brandon.

  • Joey D.

Now what was that Keith just said about if you see a pitch you like, “attack”? Grandy got a single – guess he is going to get bawled out for not waiting for a pitch he could do “damage” on?

  • BCleveland3381

Kind of scary how fast he lost it. He still had a really low pitch count too. He was in the 40’s to start the inning.

  • donobrien

    Murphy, CY, and Grandy.

  • igotyourbackman

    0-0

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    I dont get it 🙁

  • My neighbor came to borrow booster cables, and next thing you know… lol

  • MetsfanInParadise

But it doesn’t change the fact that TC’s negligence contributed to that last awful inning

  • BCleveland3381

I blame all of you LOL

  • corny12491

    I’m so sorry

  • Alwayzamazin

all’s well here! where are you , travelin man?

  • BadBadLeroyBrown
  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    Explain 🙂

  • Super T

That was sarcasm after his hit.

  • BurnInHellWilpons

cant wait to hear his post game comments on that inning and mejia…… regardless of outcome of the game.

  • derek murphy

TC should be fired right after the game for stupidity. Mejia was not sharp at all they lucked out before with murph making the double play. The last game should have had TC sitting on the edge of his seat. How he did not see this implosion is beyond me. After the homer he should have gotten dice k up in case he needed a few innings. Then a single TC still got his fingers up his a$$. The very latest mejia should have been pulled was after blackmans hit. The score at that time was 6-4 but this moron let 4 more runs cross the plate.

  • MetsfanInParadise

    High scoring

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    Thats crazy….

Did Warthen come out to talk to him?
And if so did he further implode after that talk? lol

  • corny12491

See, when a team scores a lot of runs, it begins to resemble the score of an American Football game. Because points are scored in intervals of 2, 3 and 6, with an extra point being allotted for certain scoring

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    :O I GET IT I GET IT!!!

  • mr mojo risin

maybe TC can get tossed out somehow

  • 2rings

Mejia melted down so fast, TC was caught without anyone ready in the pen

Not making a excuse for TC, manager has to be ready for ANYTHING, but he looked stunned

  • MetsfanInParadise

I’ll miss it because MLB online doesn’t stay with the SNY feed once the game is over.

  • mets4lyfe

I truly believe the Mets are the only team in the Majors who would employ Collins as their manager.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

A good manager stalls he creates time.

  • Taskmaster4450

    I think you are correct.

  • Super T

Currently it is 8-8, but that is after we were already up 6-0 in the 4th.

  • BCleveland3381

After Tejada, I have no interest in a no power no speed, cant really hit SS on the Mets again. Cechinni is still young, but has showed very little that he can be a successful everyday major league player.

  • mets4lyfe

Bay had a couple of 2-HR games in 2010 with the Mets.

  • Great to see you, Chago. Everything good and bad about the Mets is included tonight.

  • Emmanuel

    as in… nimmo?

  • 2rings

couldn’t really stall in this situation. Already one mound visit, so as soon as he crossed the line to the field, change is made

  • Manager of The Year

Even the Astros are too good for TC

  • MetsfanInParadise

He should have sent Recker out after the HBP to slow Mejia down. he didn’t even think about the next pitch he threw. TC wasn’t paying attention. He’s not smart enough to multitask.

  • Joey D.

Couldn’t hold off his swing at ball four

  • BCleveland3381

Yeah. Warthen came out. But TC only got Dice K up. I’ve actually liked Dice K out of the pen, but he needs a long time to warm up. He needed to have a guy that can get warm quick in case something bad happened. Especially playing in Coors field.

  • Ryan5757

So it’s Terry’s fault Mejia didn’t have it tonight?

When the pitchers pitch well should he deserve credit? Or does the pitcher just get all the credit?

  • Metropolitan

Collins is sayin to himself ..I told ya so Dice-K should have been the 5th starter

  • BurnInHellWilpons

i hate seeing your avatar everytime you post bc i hate terry so much. Just seeing his face pisses me off haha

  • WilponsNeed2Go

He chose to have Dice K warm up when everyone knows he takes forever. Even still by the 5th or 6th run in the inning, even Dice K tossed enough to be ready, yet Terry did nothing.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

No wonder they stop selling this candy

  • HarveyKsYou

Marlins about to win.. They definitely look like a better team than us.. Beating good teams. Remember, they have an ace and hitting, something we don’t.

  • Helton, Musial

  • Manager of The Year

That’s hilarious maybe if we fire Terry I’ll change it to Jerry Manuel?

  • MikeyT

Cechinni has 2 hrs playing in an enormous park. Maybe he can be a 10-12 hr guy

  • Alwayzamazin

leroy, why can’t we get wilpon on tape with a statement like they did with sterling? problem solved!!!

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Yes

  • $14435385

There’s no excuse…it’s clear it takes Dice-K longer to warm up, so get someone else going as a stop-gap, or use him only at the start of innings. Terry was unprepared…he’s got an awful feel for bullpen management.

  • I do love how the especially dimwitted posters on this site think responses are a function of “stalkers” and not the fact that they say an astonishing number of incredibly stupid things

  • Skip

I wish we had a “good” manager. I’d be happy with a below average manager right now.

  • Mario Gonzalez

I believe Mejia’s gonna be fine. Actually, I would love for Mejia to visit Frankie V once he’s done with his rehab and help right the ship. Not sure why he imploded like that and I’m not in the “he needs to go to the BP” camp. Wish Colon would pull him to the side and show him some video of this. LGM.

  • George_Theodore

    Gary & Keith backpedalling

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Isnt Dice-K already warmed up…That dude is always up in the pen. He warms up with the games starter lol

  • mr mojo risin

    and finished with 6

  • Super T

    Grandpa Simpson maybe?

  • BCleveland3381

With DeGrom, Montero, and eventually Syndergaard coming up at some point, I think Mejia needs to lock down his spot or he’s a risk to get bumped. Colon, Niese, Gee, and Wheeler are locks barring injury.

  • Taskmaster4450

    Collins is a moron.

  • Love these guys but wish they just would not talk about Terry at all rather than work so hard at toeing the company line. It’s somewhat nauseating.

  • iwamofo

The SNY booth has been praising Collins as a great in game manager for the past 2 years…are they freaking clueless!?!

  • Joey D.

    Frankie Valli?

  • Metropolitan

    Doh!

  • Metsaholic

Keith being sarcastic with the TC support?

  • SaberMets

ehhhh…..TC should have pulled him but he was only at 60 some pitches through 4……lets call a spade a spade….it was a meltdown

  • Taskmaster4450

    No sadly he’s serious.

  • MetsfanInParadise

    And lineup management, And strategy.

  • Mario Gonzalez

Sweet Music baby!!!! Frank Viola, LOL!!!

  • Alwayzamazin

if we could get wilpon pulling a sterling…

  • Joey D.

David cuts off Tejada and so he plays like Tejada.

  • BarnRat

    “Excellent manager”. “Field General”.

Keith has imbibed in the local cuisine.

  • Hotstreak

    Didn’t Todd Helton retire?

  • Super T

Same reason they’re signing their names to letters being sent out to the fans. Toeing the company line.

  • Bail4Nails

    And The Four (Losing) Seasons.

  • BCleveland3381

I don’t think so. He’s always loved Terry. But I never hear that support from Ron, and we all know who’s opinion is more valued….

  • Metsaholic

    Wright is a duffus

  • Selltheteam06

he loves terry im sure SNY isnt going to let him say TC is a terrible manager even if keith thinks that

  • He’ll tell him to Walk Like a Man.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

I dont think its that bad yet.

Nor do I think Syndegaard or Montero pose a threat to him this year. If anyone is a threat this year its Dice-K with TC managing.

But to put things in perspective Mejia has been far better than Colon and Wheeler so he is still the guy he had only 2 bad games well 2 bad innings that cost him 2 games but same results.

  • Joey D.

    THAT WAS CLOSE

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    What did he do?

  • Metropolitan

I would have wanted to choke Wright if that would have went out

  • 2rings

man lazy flies go to the track here…I hate this park..This is AL baseball

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Warning track power.

  • Mario Gonzalez

Really wouldn’t call Wheeler a lock just yet. He didn’t do so hot this series either.

  • BCleveland3381

I never would have said this coming into the season but we’re lucky as hell Dice K is in our bullpen. He and Torres have saved us.

  • saddest thing is Mets lose a 6-0 lead and the trolls come out of the woodwork to gloat and there’s a sudden burst of dozens of new posts. Mets come back to tie it up. Pindrop.

  • Ironically, Ojeda doesn’t and often points out his bad decisions

  • billpulsipher

they better win the next 2 because its going to be hell in miami next week. marlins buried the braves 3 straight and now they are burying LA. they are world beaters in that dump stadium

  • MetsfanInParadise

You missed his error! Awesome! I love irony

  • $14435385

He’s a skinny 20-year-old playing in a league where the average age is 22.2, and playing his home games in a massive park. I’m not saying he’s going to be Cal Ripken, but let’s see what happens in the next year or so as he matures. Look how much Nimmo filled out in his 21-22 year…

  • Metsaholic

Dropped a ball in his glove. That is so typical.

  • 2rings

at least the miss Fernandez again

  • billpulsipher

for a week because i am sure he will replace Mejia

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

So Wright is still being a terrible defender….

Idk maybe his wife is giving him hell….worst move any bachelor could make.

Sign a big a** contract to stay in NYC and THEN get MARRIED!!!

David Wright is not too bright….

    Definitely NO Derek Jeter!

  • iwamofo

Yes, that’s why I love Ojeda’s post game recaps.

  • WillisReid

    The app does.

  • Mario Gonzalez

    Troll Sighting!!!!

  • Good ol’ Colorado.

  • Hotstreak

Blackman and Helton are the same guy. Yes I said that too for the quiz..

  • $14435385

    No argument here.

  • Run Support Group

Why does Keith like TC so much???

  • Taskmaster4450

    Trivia: Helton and Musial

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Wright was an idiot for marrying that B-model after signing that big contract.

She saw him coming and is ruining his career

  • did you miss the Mets taking 3 of 4 from the NL champs last week?

  • Metsaholic

We should all be so stupid.

  • Run Support Group

    TC happened

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    Typical Wright.

  • Manager of The Year

Mejia meltdowns plus TC’s idiotic managing tend to do this

  • BCleveland3381

Im not saying that from a skills standpoint. I like Mejia’s stuff and upside more than anyone else in our current rotation. But with salaries and commitment, Colon, Niese, and Gee are locks. Wheeler is considered a cornerstone part of the rotation, whether justified or not. Mejia had to earn his rotation spot to begin with. I think he’s at risk this season.

Nobody is going to overreact to a Coors Field start(I hope), but a few more bad starts and he’s a risk I think.

  • Run Support Group

Yeah, typical perennial all star+GG winner

  • billpulsipher

5 hour game coming up. sure Keith loves that

  • Bail4Nails

No better way to slow down another team’s momentum than to literally Slow…..the…other…..team….down. He’s perfect for Relief.

  • BurnInHellWilpons

bc they know the fan base doesnt so Mets FO is hammering them(gary, keith, ron) to push it down our throats n promote terry to sway our opinions of him and stay positive. thats my guess.

  • BCleveland3381

Should have learned a lesson from Russell Wilson. Get married early and divorce BEFORE the monster deal.

  • Manager of The Year

Can Dice-K end the streak for pitchers here. Still doesn’t count for starting pitchers though

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

140 Million in NYC and cougars on your trail hot to trot.

Any man with MONEY and he gets married in America is an idiot. Your money becomes her money and she becomes your boss as soon as you say I do.

Now if youre broke by all means get married.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

LMFAO!!! Did he really do that???

    HAHAHA smart man

  • iAmDevlynT

That “DK likes to go topless” comment by Gary Cohen though..

  • 2rings

    why is he swinging 3-1…ugh

  • Our best hope to get our first hit from a pitcher.

  • BCleveland3381

Yes and he’s still on his rookie contract. But there are rumors Golden Tate slept with his wife so it’s a bit more complicated I suppose, LOL

  • Manager of The Year

Dice-K has a .192 career BA probably higher than our SS

  • MetsfanInParadise

“What are you thinkin’, Lincoln?” Classic Keith

  • AlexHZ

I wasn’t watching the game live but I don’t see how this is TC’s fault. He has to learn to get out of these jams and Mejia right now at least is proving he cannot. Correct me if I am wrong cause I wasn’t watching but I bet Arenado got that cutter//FB which he was sitting on. Outside corner. Gonna go watch a replay now and see.

EDIT: Not a cutter/FB but still on the outside corner. These dudes really gotta learn how to pitch inside, its getting infuriating. They’ll make a inside pitch when the count is 0-0 but when it count they just go outside corner.

  • Mike Lloyd

Career .192–almost as good as Ruben.

    Pathetic…bunt attempt

  • Run Support Group

TC has to know that 6 runs in Coors is nothing with this offense. After it became 6-2 I would’ve pulled him

  • Metropolitan

Pitchers should just pitch not hit

  • BCleveland3381

Im just glad Dice K didn’t break a finger. You see how he wrapped his fingers all the way around the bat? By the time I was 10 years old, I knew how to properly bunt a baseball….

  • BurnInHellWilpons

    been drinkin?

  • Run Support Group

Yeah, 2-4 with a RBI and he strikes out against a tough lefty. What a bum!

  • 2rings

wow..again..forget the lack of hits, WHERE are the fundamentals???? They cannot bunt. That is why there are 10 freaking weeks of spring training!!!!

  • George_Theodore

he was clearly done… even gary & keith were saying they were surprised he was still in the game..

  • MetsfanInParadise

    Dude! How are you?

  • Metsaholic

  • Manager of The Year

He should have taken out Mejia before he faced Cargo atleast. It was obvious he didn’t have it after 2 or 3 runs

  • mets4lyfe

It’s Terry’s fault for not realizing that Mejia was out of it by the 5th inning.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

The reason Wright is sucking this year.

“Molly Beers” her name translates to “Drugs Beers” in slang

Which is why Wright seems like he is playing high on drugs and beers

He’s probably afraid one o-fer is gonna get him put on the bench because he’s not 40 years old

  • Andrew Herbst

Yep. Exactly. He should have Dice K warm up sooner.

  • $14435385

    …and tomorrow, EYJ will start….

  • Mike Lloyd

$10 bucks and my left nu* says TC uses Juan having a bad day to play EY tomorrow.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Show me where I ragged on her?

  • 2rings

when you are never on base, not shocking you don’t know what to do when you finally get there

  • BCleveland3381

You seem a little jealous, Leroy!!!!

  • $14435385

Said the same thing earlier. Except the nut part.

  • MetsfanInParadise

An article on the Mets site says he was going to anyway to be careful with Juan’s hammy

  • BurnInHellWilpons

    hes trash.

  • AlexHZ

Lazy organizations sign lazy coaches. Difference between a club like st louis and the mets. Cardinals will not promote you until you’re a professional ball player. A professional ball player, pitcher or position player has to know how to put a bunt down. period. It’s embarrassing.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    Jealous. Not at all.

Im going to need her to stop stressing that dude out so he can start hitting some homers instead of swinging like he wants to crack someones skull and miss the ball

  • $14435385

Makes me think of Mickey…”Women. Weaken. Legs!”

  • Alwayzamazin

    los mets!

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    LOL…Good one

  • Waz0787

Guys just started watching the game.. Wtf happened?

  • donobrien

Chago, greetings. Have you cast a line in the water yet? Enjoy!

  • mets4lyfe

Hopefully Collins doesn’t sit Lagares tomorrow because of his 0-5. That’s not how you instill confidence in your young players.

  • 1000 hits for Tulo. About 900 more than we’ll ever see from Tejada.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

    LGLM!!! 😉

  • $14435385

    Thanks for getting the reference…

  • WhatsaSeawolf

Lagares strikes out but I’m loving the intensity he shows. Nice to see, and seemingly a rare thing the past few years. Now let’s win it.

  • AlexHZ

He is but TC is gonna say it was premeditated

  • Metsaholic

What, you can’t see what an @zzh0le you’re being? MSee an eye surgeon.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Thats a flat out lie….He brings poor play to the table every game.

  • 2rings

why do we NEVER GUARD THE LINE??????

  • HarveyKsYou

    Here we go again.

  • Waz0787

Tejeda doesn’t belong in the majors. He is the chris carter of alderson

  • mets4lyfe

    That’s 100% on Collins

  • Taskmaster4450

Just part of Collins losing philosophy.

  • billpulsipher

7 games in col and miami…0-7 here we come

  • 2rings

The kiss of death. A mound visit by Danny boy…the pipes the pipes are calling

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Ahhh so you couldnt show me where so you revert to acting like a untrained Savage.

Your mother is an @zzh0le, you heathen.

  • Waz0787

Please summarize did mejia had a meltdown?

  • Mario Gonzalez

    Troll Sighting!!!!

  • billpulsipher

no those 8 runs in 2/3 of an inning were a mirage

  • In summary, yes.

  • George_Theodore

yes, and tc left him in way too long

  • Taskmaster4450

8 runs in one innings is a meltdown.

  • billpulsipher

    its called reality bro

  • $14435385

The wheels came off fast, so I can understand why he wasn’t up sooner. But if you know that’s the case, get someone else up and use him for a batter. Or know going in that DiceK will only be used to start an inning. This isn’t rocket science.

  • Mario Gonzalez

Negative. I say we take 2 of 3 in Miami after we take the last 2 of this series!!

  • George_Theodore

he’s going to walk this dude

  • Waz0787

    We getting our ass kicked

  • Metsaholic

I didn’t had to watch that

  • 2rings

    murph asleep as usual

  • Murphy should have gotten him when he overslid.

  • Metropolitan

    Murphy being lackadaisical there

  • HarveyKsYou

Well we’re not coming back. This team doesn’t fight back this much.

  • mets4lyfe

Mets in a bases-loaded 1-out situation probably would’ve resulted in a DP or two infield pop-ups to end the inning.

  • Selltheteam06

Wow that has to be an out Murphy needs to pay attention

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Bad News = We are going to lose
Good News = We finally got some hits and runs

Facts = This was never a 90 win team….74Wins maybe

  • BCleveland3381

WTF, Keith doesn’t know that!? LOL

  • $14435385

That’s a play you learn in Babe Ruth league…his head’s been somewhere else for the last few days. Maybe it’s the thin air…

  • mad met

Yes i want a real cleanup hitter and not a statue at first base

  • dude. Just shut the f up already

  • Selltheteam06

Where were you when Mejia gave up 8 runs in 2/3 of an inning? You complain about everyone except your favorites.

  • Metsaholic

The guy slide by Murph when Murph is looking at the ball coming in. He had no chance to tag him.

  • billpulsipher

1 more inning til Hawk comes in to stick it to sandy the genius

  • HarveyKsYou

Really? We’re going to start this again?

  • mets4lyfe

Rockies hitters go out there looking to succeed instead of looking like they’re trying not to fail.

  • Mario Gonzalez

The GMan here with your nightly Public Service Announcement: Please, do not Feed the Trolls. Thank you for your time.

  • No need for that.

  • corny12491

Definitely a help play there, someone (probably 1B) should have let Murph know there was a runner tagging

  • plus Dice-K has as .913 WHIP and a 1.17 ERA

  • bspo1

Absolutely embarrassing series by the Mets. If people say the mets are good then the Rockies are the best team in baseball.

  • BCleveland3381

Gotta step back on not overreact to a matchup nightmare for the Mets. Best offense in baseball in the best hitter’s park in baseball history against our weak offense and fly ball pitchers. I agree this isn’t a 90 win team, but we’re better than 74.

  • 2rings

her voice annoys the crap out of me

  • HarveyKsYou

So anyone who is annoyed by their teams performance is a troll? Oh alright.

  • Metropolitan

Nah the Rockies got a good team but we suck

  • Metsaholic

    We disagree.

  • donobrien

Murphy doesn’t know he’s running if no one yells it out.

  • Run Support Group

Or it’s just the Rockies are the best offensive team in baseball and Coors is very conducive to their game.

  • Waz0787

74 for being generous. I am going with 68

  • yeah. It got old like a monbth ago. This whiny beotch act is very, very stale.

  • mad met

Hey bud hope fishing going well .nice to see u posting .keep an eye on degrom this kid is for real

  • donobrien

I repeat myself. Mets win 12-10.

  • HarveyKsYou

She’s very ugly. You must be an old timer who thinks all women are pretty. No offense.

  • BurnInHellWilpons

this series has showed the difference between a major league lineup and our little league lineup.

  • BadBadLeroyBrown
  • mets4lyfe

All the Rockies need is decent pitching to become of the best teams in baseball. And it might just happened every soon with Jon Gray and Eddie Butler joining them next year. A rotation of Chacin, Gray, Butler, Chatwood, and De La Rosa/Nicasio would be good enough for them to win 95+ games.

  • BCleveland3381

Nice game for Murphy. Cmon Wright!

  • WilponsNeed2Go

Time for the Cap’n to get an extra base hit here.

  • mets4lyfe

I’m really not surprised that Wright struck out.

  • Waz0787

    Jessep cursed our team lol.

  • BurnInHellWilpons

how is that overreacting? thats what this team has been the past 6 years..it is what it is… whats changed to make that dramatic jump to 90 wins?

Clutch hitting by CY late in this game

  • Super T

One positive – I do like the lineup tonight.

  • oops, Mets tied it up. Back under your bridges my little trolls

  • 9-9 nice job. Some of you give up so easy

  • Selltheteam06

I guess not all managers leave struggling pitchers in high risk situations

  • billpulsipher

TC should put Valverde in so we can watch home run derby

  • WilponsNeed2Go

And he took a discount to stay with the Mets. BTW 3 for 5 1 RBI 2 runs

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

  • Taskmaster4450

Only Collins. The rest yank them.

    I like Murph, but he’s a goofball…

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    yes exacly

  • Jgreen

Wow you were right. Miggy gone to 1B, No Aroid

  • HarveyKsYou

Home run Granderson, enough of these singles, though you have looked a little better.

  • HarveyKsYou would find a reason to complain if he were drinking a beer, having a cigar and getting head from a supermodel

  • Metsaholic

Actually it should be just the opposite. Mets fans are not quitters.

  • MetsfanInParadise

Think about what it’ll mean if the Mets can manage to win a high-scoring game. One of those things that’s been eluding them for awhile. Like when they went over 300 games without a grand slam–then hit them in back to back innings

  • mets4lyfe

Arenado’d GS came on the first pitch of the at-bat. Cargo’s RBI single came on the first pitch of the at-bat.

Statistics also show that swinging at 1st pitches (usually strikes) yield positive results.

    Interesting

  • Come on Granderson blast one!

  • 2rings

    Lets go CG

  • $14435385

I meant when he was rounding 2nd on the double. He’s had two boneheaded base running mistakes the last two nights…he’s not been the sharpest knife in the drawer this series.

  • BarnRat

In hopes of jinxing myself, Grandy’s chance of a 2 strike hit here are zero

  • Manager of The Year

But you know our hitting philosophy means taking as many fat pitches as possible

  • mad met

    K shocking

  • it’s also an excellent way to allow the opposing starter to get into the 7th inning having thrown 30 pitches

  • HarveyKsYou

Trolls are people who take enjoyment in being proved right.. If I was a troll id be gone from the thread.

  • Waz0787

  • Metropolitan

    damn

  • Taskmaster4450

    That was very….metish.

  • HarveyKsYou

We never get over the bump 🙁

  • mets4lyfe

As opposed to letting the pitcher throw a complete game shut-out because the Mets don’t swing until they’re in a 2-strike hole?

  • Alwayzamazin

love the video, i know you saw them in their prime..so cool…maybe the sad is more for myself that I lose you as a kindred spirit and llfe only gives us so few true amigos! thank you for being one of mine, Eduardo, and peace always..

  • HarveyKsYou

You’re whinny. You keep whining about true fans showing frustration.

Because that’s how it is being a mets fan. You get kicked in the gut game after game.

  • $14435385

Win or lose, I can’t stand this park. This isn’t baseball.

  • Metsaholic

He’s right . This is a typical Coors field game.

  • no, it isn’t. I have been a Mets fan for a very long time and I don’t assume the game is lost every time we fall behind in a game

  • BurnInHellWilpons

its not the park… its our team. Colorado seems to be doing just fine.

  • mets4lyfe

And when was the last time a pitcher made it to the 7th inning while only throwing 30 pitches?

And how many times have the Mets been shut-out in the past couple of years by a starting pitcher who kept throwing in 1st pitch strikes because no one was swinging?

The entire premise of my post is going right over your head. You’re manipulating it a manner to support your own side of the argument. I’m sure you’re smart enough to realize what my original post was about. Or maybe I’m giving you too much credit.

  • Metsaholic

    Yep.

  • Alwayzamazin

ok not exactly sexist but still insulting. are you a bully in real life or just here?

  • Christopher Hoffa

I couldn’t imagine having my favorite team play 81 games at Coors. Talk about a roller coaster of emotions from all of the lead changes

  • MetsfanInParadise

My favorite moment of the night was when Leroy missed Wright’s error.

  • Waz0787

We speak our minds and we speak the truth

  • My favorite moments of the night were when the Mets took the lead or tied it back up and he went away

  • Run Support Group

Colorado has tulo, cargo, Blackmon, Rosario, Morneau

  • Metsaholic

    LOL!!

  • $14435385

It’s not the results. It’s everything about games played here…I’m just not a fan of 12-10 baseball games.

  • Alwayzamazin

another reason why pot is legal in colorado! patience for these games! 🙂

  • BurnInHellWilpons

exactly…. its our team…..we just dont have good players.

  • metsjetsfan

Our starting pitching had been doing just fine till they got to Colorado. They tore them all a new one. They are amazing at that park.

  • donobrien

Since only his mother and I are rooting for Tejada, I gotta say, Nice catch, Reuben.

  • MetsfanInParadise

Well, yeah, but I was just struck by the irony

  • WilponsStinkLessNow

this is really the first hot hitting team theyve played this year. Obviously the anemic offense gets exposed, but it also makes you question they pitching results so far…

  • Mario Gonzalez

Count me in amongst that small group of Tejada supporters!!

  • BurnInHellWilpons

Yes they did. But mets had equal opportunity to tear their pitchers one as well. Same playing conditions.

  • Waz0787

Opposing hitters are hitting .400 after 5th against mejia. Stat don’t lie

  • HarveyKsYou

Walking a guy who strikes out a lot.. Hmm.

  • Nice lol

  • Run Support Group

We seemed to be ok before this. You ever stop to think Colorsdo has an insane advantage at home? It’s not just is that struggles here..it’s almost everyone

  • MetsfanInParadise

“Making him get it up.” Keith is hilarious

  • Anthony Delgado *17 WS Champs*

    Oh god hes due too

  • Mario Gonzalez

    Ump squeezed Rice there.

  • Run Support Group

    Coors field

  • HarveyKsYou

The pitching is middle of the pack. If wheeler develops then we’d have a dominant pitcher in the rotations, but for now it’s full of 3/4s and a guy who can’t give you length (Mejia).

  • SchadenfreudianSlip

I was out for the night. Just came back and caught up on the game, not through reading here. But I’m curious. So many of the haters here are such Mejia fan-boys, how are they dealing with the fact that for the second time in a row, Mejia just totally fell apart and gave up a huge lead?

I’m a Mejia fan and want him to succeed. But all the guys who praise his name and then kill every Wheeler outing, how’s that working out?

  • donobrien

Good to see you agree with my early prediction, 12-10 Mets. LGM.

  • it was hyperbole but if you swung at the first pitch in every at bat, it is quite likely. However, it never happens because major leaguers know that swinging at the first pitch all the time is a stupid thing to do… so yeah, the point of your post. It sucked.

  • Selltheteam06

    Leroy conveniently missed that inning

  • Run Support Group

    Good job insta rice

  • BronxMets

    Nice job

  • MetsfanInParadise

    A Hobson’s Choice

  • metsjetsfan

    Agreed with you there.

  • WilponsNeed2Go

    Great inning by Rice!

  • Metropolitan

This is the game here we must score!!!

  • corny12491

Huge out right there. That could set the tone for the rest of the game

  • HarveyKsYou

It’s TCs fault. The manager is to blame for ALL the problems. These people are just haters of Collins.

  • metsjetsfan

I don’t mind 12-10 games every once in a while, except the Mets may never get to 12 runs in any game this year haha

  • MetsfanInParadise

Gotta score. Otherwise it’s set up for a Tulo walk-off. Damn. Jinx.

  • WilponsNeed2Go

I guess that includes GKR, because they were second guessing Collins’ decision there too.

  • Manager of The Year

Don’t know if anyone heard but Jared King proposed to his girlfriend before the Savannah game. He got the memo

  • Hotstreak

La Troy lets put a blemish on his saves or holds excuse me..

  • Mario Gonzalez

Yes, Mejia imploded in the 5th and gave up 8 runs. Completely on him. It happens. Hope he comes back strong in his next start. None of our starters have looked good here.

  • BCleveland3381

    Not a save situation though.

  • Waz0787

TC is a genius. Torres already overused pitches two innings yesterday when mets had no chance in winning. TC trying to end a career if he pitches today.

  • donobrien

Here we go, we are taking back the lead.

  • MetsfanInParadise

Not just once or twice, but just like we were, they kept saying, “I can’t believe he’s leaving him in there,. . You gotta get him out of there.”

  • Mario Gonzalez

Whoa dude. You will only confuse him.

  • It just blows my mind the way some fans kill their own players non-stop with the TDA and Wheeler suck comments. I guess they prefer to have Thole and Ollie back.

  • cmon Lucas. Put one over the wall, close out the 9th and we can all go to bed early

  • BurnInHellWilpons

we have that emotional roller coaster either way….were met fans!

  • SchadenfreudianSlip

To be clear, I love Mejia’s stuff and think he’ll develop into something really special. But the crazies who scream that he’s an ace and Wheeler is a bum, that’s just stupidity.

  • Torres is a converted starter. Pretty sure he can handle pitching 2 one day and getting work the next

  • George_Theodore

    first night Juan hasn’t hit..

  • HarveyKsYou

Yeah, he left him in too long.. But still, Mejia still imploded.

  • Damn what a rip…

  • MetsfanInParadise

And Collins just sat there and let it happen

  • Run Support Group

Except for his first start and his cardinals start. He didn’t exactly implode in those

  • MetsfanInParadise

Lucas has looked good against the lefties today.

  • SchadenfreudianSlip

My issue with it is that it demonstrates such a lack of understanding about the game. If you watched TDA, even early this season, you knew he could hit. Good at bats. Good swings. Any argument against him even when the numbers weren’t good was just people who want him to fail.

And the Wheeler stuff, that’s silly nonsense. The kid is 24? And hasn’t pitched a full year in the league?

  • Waz0787

He is on a pace to pitch 100+ games this year.

  • iwamofo

    Right. Down. The. Pipe. Dangggg

  • Mike Lloyd

You old Rascal-how’s the fish biting?

  • MetsfanInParadise

Nothing you can do about that.

  • Metropolitan

Mets don’t score here in the 9th I give them a 1% chance to win this game

  • billpulsipher

here comes Hawk to stick it to sandy

  • HarveyKsYou

You’re a troll. Please shut up.

  • mad met

There you go bambi beg for another walk 250 lbs wuss

  • billpulsipher

if Valverde pitches in a tie game, put them at -0 percent chance

  • SchadenfreudianSlip

so when Gee has trouble in the 7th, he’s a bum. But when Mejia struggles in the 5th its on TC.

TC makes some bad decisions. And he’s to blame for a number of things. But lets at least use some philosophical consistency with the criticisms.

  • Run Support Group

You’re rooting for him to do well just so you can have the self satisfaction of knowing he sure showed all the SANDY LUVERS!!11!, aren’t you?

  • HarveyKsYou

That’s what a real troll is.

  • Run Support Group

2-5, RBI. 2 K’s against two tough lefty specialists. WHAT A BUM

  • BCleveland3381

    trollin’

  • billpulsipher

when Hawk was a bargain basement retread, the price was right. as soon as he wanted real money, sandy and fred went running

  • corny12491

Dude ripped one down the line that was close to being a double. Relax

  • mets4lyfe

You’re still not getting the point, and you probably won’t get it until someone points it out. Here, I’ll do it:

You said, “if you swung at the first pitch in every at bat”

I said, “Statistics also show that swinging at 1st pitches (usually strikes) yield positive results”

The point is, you swing at 1st pitch strikes if the pitchers is throwing them right down the middle. Pitchers are more likely to throw pitches down the middle (particularly fastballs) if a line-up has a habit of taking 1st pitch strikes. There’s no harm in swinging at 1st pitch strikes, especially if you know that’s probably going to be the best pitch to hit. Am I advocating for swinging at 1st pitch breaking balls in the dirt? No. If you see a 1st pitch right down the middle, swing at it.

The reason why hitters have success swinging at 1st pitches is because majority of the time the pitches are fastballs down the middle. Why not swing at it? If anything, it’ll force the pitcher to throw out of the strike-zone. No one’s saying to swing at 1st pitch breaking balls out of the zone.

  • $14435385

Foolish move by Weiss. Can’t stand this oversimplification of the game that any same-handed matchup is better than any offhanded matchup (Collins does this all the time). Bringing in Hawkins means facing Abreu instead of Tejada…who’s more likely to give you trouble?

  • Run Support Group

No. He wanted an opportunity to close. And bullpens are very year to year anyway. The pen has held its own so far and will be helped by DeGrom and black later in the year

  • billpulsipher

and he wouldnt have that with the mets? lol. He said he WANTED to come back

  • SchadenfreudianSlip

And when they did sign him last year, you were probably at the front of the line screaming that he was an old bum and a retread.

    Pipe down.

  • Run Support Group

LTHAWK REALLY STIKING IT TO SANDy!!

  • Selltheteam06

    PR Eric Young NOW

  • corny12491

    Exhibit A

  • In my ten years of running a Mets site, I’ve learned that about 10 percent of fans just like to rant like their head’s on fire. Always looking at the negative, complaining even when we win, defeatist attitude, etc.

  • Run Support Group

    A TC-like move

  • metsjetsfan

    Nice job, Bobby!

  • SchadenfreudianSlip

No, because coming into the season that job was Parnell’s. Is that hard for you to understand?

  • HarveyKsYou

    That’s how it’s done.

  • donobrien

    Viva Abreu!

  • billpulsipher

here comes Satin looking for a walk

  • WilponsNeed2Go

Yes, Mejia imploded but the managers job is to limit the damage. Maybe you can argue that Mejia owns the 3-4 runs, while someone gets warmed up. But there is no reason Terry should have let him pitch to Arenado.

  • MetsfanInParadise

Uh, no. We’ve also criticized Terry thoroughly for leaving Gee in one batter too long. He’s directly cost us 2 games that way. In fact, I’m pretty sure you’ve been on those bandwagons. But in addition he just left Mejia out on the mound to stew, and he gave up a grand slam on his last pitch. he should have directed Recker to go out there and calm him down. he’s just not in control.

  • Perfect use of EY!

  • $14435385

This is where Young and Abreu have value…this exact scenario.

  • Waz0787

That’s why he has a job.

  • Run Support Group

No. We had Parnell going into the season. So no, he wouldn’t have looking at it from the offseason

  • metsjetsfan

    Let’s go Satin!

  • SchadenfreudianSlip

Nice to see you here Chago.

  • George_Theodore

would rather have Campbell up here

  • mets4lyfe

A smart hitter would know that Hawkins doesn’t walk a lot of batters. I feel like most Mets hitters come out looking for the pitcher to walk them even if it’s someone like Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee, Zack Greinke, etc.

They’re not going to walk you.

  • BCleveland3381

Wow. If he stays healthy this season, Hawkins will get to 1000 appearances in his career!

  • Metsaholic

    Satin is better.

  • Mike Lloyd

Suffering after the last 2 games with everybody else-but with a shot here-personal-heading to West Virginia tomorrow..quiet time with my lady 😉

  • Run Support Group

Meh, basically the same player, save Campbell can play 2nd

  • $14435385

If this pitch is middle in and he doesn’t swing, I’d demote him before the at bat ends. Can’t go up looking for a walk.

  • Mario Gonzalez

    Ump squeezing everybody now.

  • MetsfanInParadise

    I.e., limited

  • Abreu was a nice addition.

  • Run Support Group

    SHUTUP SANDY LOVER!!!!

  • billpulsipher

Satin failed…how unusual. another AAA scrub

  • HarveyKsYou

Satin not giving us any use anymore.

  • Metropolitan

Lagares you can be the hero here

  • HarveyKsYou

    Over swinging too much today.

  • George_Theodore

    C’mon Juan!

  • metsjetsfan

    Come on, Juan.

  • iwamofo

that was the one to hit

  • AlexHZ

Was peeking on gameday, saw a fastball to satin right down the middle, ground out softly to third.

  • donobrien

    You can do it, Juan.

  • Mike Lloyd

    In 2005 Lol

  • $14435385

He’s trying to hit the ball 600 feet. Shorten the swing, Juan…take it to RF…

  • MetsfanInParadise

Hitting streak on the line too. Would be a great way to extend it.

  • mets4lyfe

Good to see Lagares swinging at a fastball down the middle

  • SchadenfreudianSlip

God bless and much peace to you. I hope they are biting and their is much about which to reminisce.

  • HarveyKsYou

    Lol!

  • WilponsNeed2Go

Best 1 for 6 night ever!

  • Alwayzamazin

good to see lagares on the field!

  • Run Support Group

2014 if he keeps this up…

  • iwamofo

Lagares has been the best hitter on this team this season and has been soo CLUTCH. Gotta get myself a Lagares jersey soon.

  • MAS0031

How about a few insurance runs……….

  • Metsaholic

    Yes!

  • Alwayzamazin

    irish hammer!!!!

  • Run Support Group

Come on David, gives us some much needed cushion

  • corny12491

    Perfect 1st pitch attacking there

  • BronxMets

    Ok DW

  • Metropolitan

Lets get at least one more hit !!

  • George_Theodore

    Hawk sticking it to Sandy!

  • metsjetsfan

Please, let’s get an insurance run here, DW.

  • HarveyKsYou

Hawkins looking fine. Time for Wright to hit a bomb.

  • corny12491

    I’m in love with this

  • What an amazing game!

  • donobrien

I knew we would come back. Great his, Juan. You too Daniel. David, let’s do it.

  • derek murphy

    Don’t choke wright

  • Fast Eddie

Yeaaaah…come on, we need an insurance run now!

  • mad met

Juan and murphy thats how u get it done bat off shoulder bambi

  • SchadenfreudianSlip

I differentiate between deserves and reality. He may deserve it this year but he won’t get it. Next year, he’ll both deserve it and get it.

  • MetsfanInParadise

Too bad he cut it off. Now cmon David!

  • mets4lyfe

Lagares ain’t having none of that ‘looking for a walk against a pitcher with a 1.59 BB/9’ approach.

  • mad met

Thank god bambi was not up

  • If Wright makes out, you can bet a bunch will moan about it rather than showing any excitement that we took the lead.

  • Run Support Group

That’s true. Gomez will prob get it

  • BronxMets

This is why Murphy is the stupidest player ever

  • Metropolitan

    make em pay Young!

  • Jgreen

    Chris GET MAD

  • Metsaholic

    Keith is wrong here.

  • Alwayzamazin

    lol joe don’t jinx it

  • WilponsNeed2Go

This IBB is exactly why we need a 4 hole hitter that actually scares people.

  • derek murphy

Good. Better off w CY n game on line

  • BronxMets

no worries the stupidest player on the team took care of that

  • Terry

Joe D is being quite cynical tonight 🙂

  • Fast Eddie

If we can tack on three more, I’ll feel safe…well, sort of.

  • HarveyKsYou

Everyone hates Wright. The only true all star that has had a long career with us and no one appreciates him. They’ll be sad when he’s gone.

  • Metropolitan

a walk would not be a bad thing

  • Waz0787

Sad? We stuck with him for 7 freaking years!!!!!!!!

  • iwamofo

Gomez deserves it. Lagares’s numbers don’t quite match up and their defense is about the same. And Mccutchen is probably next in line after Gomez.

  • mets4lyfe

Young took a hanging slider belt-high for the 1st pitch……

  • Run Support Group

    Dang, hit that hard

  • 95% appreciate him, the 5% are the ones that love to complain on comment threads so it looks like it’s a lot.

  • Fast Eddie

    Crap..

  • MAS0031

Now time to sweat the bottom of the 9th

  • letsgomets28

What do you guys think of extending Murphy to a similar deal the Braves did with Chris Johnson…I believe both had 1 year left of arbitration left too….3 years 23.5 mill with club option for 10 mill?

  • Jgreen

    Ok Farnsworth here we go!!

  • Rocky Thompson

Glad Sandy was smart enough not to sign LaTroy Hawkins.

  • BCleveland3381

Farnsworth eh? Well, this should be interesting at least.

  • Mike Lloyd

    Why? Lol

  • billpulsipher

Farnsworth with a 1 run lead in coors field….oh joy

  • Alwayzamazin

    Wow

  • SchadenfreudianSlip

Wish i felt better about a lead going into the 9th. But its Colorado. Hard to be comfortable. Team showed heart tonight regardless.

  • Run Support Group

Where is your god now billpulsipher? Did LaTroy stick it to Sandy last inning or what?

  • Metropolitan

scoring 2 runs would have been better..but 1 should be good enough!Pen got to do their job ,3 more outs

  • HarveyKsYou

See I’m not a troll.. Leroy and Alex aren’t saying things like that.. Yet I keep getting attacked. Anyways, Wright has sucked this year so far (no power, striking out too much and not walking). But he’s been the greatest offensive met.

  • MetsfanInParadise

Can’t remember the last save situation-Sunday?

  • BCleveland3381

If Farnsworth only gives up one run he should get half a save.

  • AlexHZ

Im kinda shook as is everyone else i think about the bottom half of this inning

  • Run Support Group

You love being miserable, don’t you?

  • Taskmaster4450

    Tulo to lead off.

  • metsjetsfan

    Ugh… Tulo scares me

  • Scottydoeskno328

    Here comes the blown save.

  • billpulsipher

    one word….Hanrahan

  • MetsfanInParadise

Don’t feed the troll. Collapse thread

  • Waz0787

    Truth hurts

  • donobrien

You, sir, know nothing about baseball nor can you evaluate players. Have you actually ever played the game above little league?

  • I just get tired of seeing the same people complain about the same things night in and night out. I don’t mind as I believe everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but sometimes it’s just too much. lol

  • Run Support Group

How about LaTroy bro?? Really stuck it to those Sandy lovers!

  • iwamofo

    that would be about right.

  • Terry

No matter what happens, gotta love the fight. And an entertaining game also. Lagaras comes through and hopefully keeps his spot. Terry would have loved an 0-6 so he could get EY back in the lineup.

  • billpulsipher

talk to me if Kyle gets the 3 outs, since hes the one who replaced Hawk

  • MAS0031

What are the chances of an easy 1-2-3 ninth?

  • Hey there Chago!

  • Run Support Group

OK, but you were wrong. Doesn’t change that

  • Fast Eddie

    Let’s go Farnsy!

  • mets4lyfe

Familia should pitch this inning given his super sinker, especially with Tulo and Arenada due up.

  • Pablo Purchese

    Pray for that

  • derek murphy

Damn ddnt want wright to whiff again. Lageres always seems to come through in the clutch. Was hoping to add a couple of runs onto that. Farnsworth and a one run lead in feeling ill.

  • BCleveland3381

Don’t feed him. He’s said some awful things on here that have nothing to do with baseball. A sad person. Move on from his posts…

  • Run Support Group

The chances of Coors field becoming a pitchers park 😉

  • HarveyKsYou

    .

  • corny12491

I dislike Terry like the next guy, but can we stop accusing the man of rooting against his own players and his team? Jeez

  • donobrien

WAZ0787 agrees with you. What a surprise.

  • We need three big outs people!

  • Terry

Lagaras has become my favorite Met.

  • Run Support Group

    I can’t watch…

  • SchadenfreudianSlip

    You think? Or you hope?

  • Alwayzamazin

    right on Chago!

  • Waz0787

Collins and rest of his coaches should get a 5 years extensions

  • Old man stupid Sandy shouldn’t have signed doubles and scores the go ahead run against the old man that stupid Sandy should’ve signed. Therefore, Sandy is stupid. QED

  • MetsfanInParadise

Tulo .575 at home coming in, 2-3 tonite

  • Joe

What a mess for Mejia tonight… sad to see.

  • metsjetsfan

The chances of me going on a date with the woman from the at&t commercial (she’s soooo hot)

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

Guess we’ll find out in a month when he’s ready to pitch.

  • HarveyKsYou

Nothing to be happy about.. See this here is a troll comment..

  • Run Support Group

She and xerox girl are like hnnngggg

  • BronxMets

Amateur what’s next you’re going to tell me he is a good second baseman? Drop dead. Now.

  • Rocky Thompson

    You’re kidding, right????

  • Alwayzamazin

can we blame it on mile high stadium?

  • WilponsNeed2Go

I hope keith starts complaining about Dinger again.

  • HarveyKsYou

    Ugh.

  • Run Support Group

That wasn’t even a bad pitch. Tulo is just insane

  • billpulsipher

    Oh lord, here we go…

    dick

  • Run Support Group

    Brace for impact

  • mad met

Wish he could teach that to granderson and duda

  • It’s never easy lol

  • billpulsipher

JOEL HANRAHAN…nice move sandy by ignoring him

  • Waz0787

When the mets blow the lead. I will let you know.

  • HarveyKsYou

It’s so embarrassing that Kyle Farnsworth is our closer. Joel
    Hanrahan where are you:(

  • Fast Eddie

Tulo is just amazing…wish we had him.

  • Joe

3 outs man. that’s honestly all we need.

  • classy as always, BxMets

  • Two teams who want it bad that have no quit in them!

  • billpulsipher

with a big market team called detroit

  • BCleveland3381

I wouldn’t even be mad if we end up tied after 9.

  • George_Theodore

yeah, cause he’s ready to pitch now

  • Run Support Group

he won’t be ready for a month. He wa bad in Boston last year. He’s a huge question mark

  • Terry

I didn’t say he “roots” against his own players. But he and the front office have their favorites. The guys they believe better fit their system. That is very much clear.

  • billpulsipher

    2 teams whose closers suck

  • Metropolitan

    wanting a Double play ..

  • $14435385

When he’s healthy, I’d take Tulo over any player in the NL.

  • Wont be ready to pitch until June. He couldn’t help us tonight.

  • WilponsNeed2Go

Keith starts complaining about time of game….everyone drink!

  • Run Support Group

    Ugh good baserunning

  • mets4lyfe

    Familia should’ve pitched this inning.

  • metsjetsfan

I hope they don’t take him out of the rotation. Let him grow from these two horrid outings.

  • would his cheering from the bench be the difference maker?

  • billpulsipher

idc if its a month, you want Farnsworth for 4 more months after june 1?

  • Metropolitan

    off line throw

  • Metsfan27

So he can walk the tying run in?

  • billpulsipher

    our closer started this game….

  • BronxMets

Way to turn the wrong way Q

  • Fast Eddie

A perfect throw might of had him..

  • BCleveland3381

I cant remember the last time I saw a Lagares throw not right on the money.

  • Alwayzamazin

    LGLM!

  • except Keith. Which is why he’s complaining about the length of the game

  • Run Support Group

It doesn’t matter who closes. Closers are overrated and saves are meaningless. Closing by committee is fine with me

  • billpulsipher

call Montero up, put him in the rot, and let Mejia close…now

  • Joe

Lagares is a damn good fielder. His mechanics are textbook.

    Despite tonight’s mishaps.

  • letsgomets28

Farnsworth’s inability to strike people out as a closer is scary

  • BronxMets

Yeh he would sign with us and not detroit

  • BronxMets

    Rofl

  • not a good set up here with farnsworth

  • metsjetsfan

    SANDY LOVERS

  • $14435385

Said that earlier…best player in the NL when he’s healthy.

  • Metsaholic

    Please shutup. Please.

  • billpulsipher

Mejia would be a filthy closer and you know it

  • Mario Gonzalez

Wow, tell that to the Yankees and Rivera, or what’s his name in Boston last year.

  • HarveyKsYou

Bobby Parnell doesn’t strike anyone out either.

  • Metsaholic

    Please.

  • Metropolitan

strike him out for christ sake!!!

  • I am fine buddy. And I hope you are as well. 🙂

  • Run Support Group

Well, at least now he doesnt

  • MAS0031

It’s never easy being a Mets fan

  • BCleveland3381

MLB Network showing the game feed as well, and its about 10 seconds ahead of SNY

  • corny12491

No matter the result, I can say I haven’t watched a Mets team in years that would’ve fought back like this after completely blowing it

  • BronxMets

    Shut up

  • BCleveland3381

    ARE YOU KIDDING ME

  • billpulsipher

    surprise surprise

  • Metsfan27

Do we ever receive nice things?

  • MAS0031

    This is just HORRIBLE

  • Joey D.

    That’s our closer!

  • fun game, craptastic finish

  • Okay the bar is open!

  • Ted Danson

    That was extremely disappointing.

  • Mario Gonzalez

Only in Coors does that Ball go out

  • Metropolitan

    DFA Farnsworth ASAP!!

  • Selltheteam06

    What a team

  • billpulsipher

    JOEL FU*KING HANRAHAN.

    We’ll get’m tomorrow.

  • BronxMets

  • donobrien

Guy hitting .111 get walk off HR. The sharpest cut of all.

  • billpulsipher

i know, but who is going to close in june, july aug and september>

  • sperry

Neither team deserved to win this game. Pathetic pitching all around

  • Waz0787

    Mets lost troll

  • HarveyKsYou

What a joke. I don’t even know who they guy is.

  • MetsfanInParadise

At least we went down fighting. A little less unsatisfying than the last 2 nights. The most disturbing aspect was Mejia’s meltdown.

  • Hotstreak

    I’ii take Hawkens.

  • BronxMets

Idiot would you sign here as apposed to Detroit. Are you that dumb?

  • metsjetsfan

    LOL, omg you’re truly pathetic

  • Mr.Metropolitan

What a sickening game. Going to put my fist through something.

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

Is watching games from the dl

  • MAS0031

Why doesn’t these nice things ever happen to us?

  • Terry

Let the bashing commence…fellas, we have holes. We are far from a good or certainly great baseball team. But they showed fight tonight and the future looks good. Sorry to be so positive. I know it’s not the popular flavor on this site.

  • Mcgrupp81

Figures. I knew we were going to need those insurance runs.

  • BCleveland3381

Terry Collins’ Met career should burn at the stake for this game. It’s only one game, and it was a horrible matchup coming into the series, but this could have been avoided by pulling Mejia when it was 6-3 in the 5th. This game is 100% on him. Worst manager in baseball.

  • Mike Lloyd

    Lmao-ugh painful loss though.

  • Alwayzamazin

at least it didn’t take 3 more innings just to lose…god forbid we wear out the (what) bullpen!

  • BronxMets

Had opportunities to stop the Rockies scoring and didnt

  • Waz0787

    I am going to sleep.

  • Mejia? Wa;lters? Leatherrocket? Socovichololviz? Familia? DeGrom? Dunno. Not gonna be Hanrahan though.

  • Skip

    I’ll buy first round. Damn!!!!

  • billpulsipher

sandy alderson once again showing what a useless failure he is. letting hanrahan walk and using this garbage farnsworth…THIS TEAM HAS NO CLOSER AND ITS MAY 4TH…anyone who thinks this season is going to be a success should stop smoking the crack pipe..YOU NEED A CLOSER

  • Andrew Herbst

    Farnsworth can’t be closer anymore.

  • Joe

we’re still .500, we just lose in heartbreaking ways for some reason.

  • MAS0031

This is what happens when you have Farnsworth and Valverde in the bullpen. Blame this on our cheap owners.

  • Sandy Alderson faux

    Bullpens are overrated.

  • $14435385

Baseball shouldn’t be played at altitude, period. Can’t stand this park.

  • AlexHZ

they are going to go in a tailspin after this game. hope im wrong

  • metsjetsfan

Yupp. Left Mejia in too long. Another game, another idiotic move (non move, in this case) by Terry.

  • Shea2citi

    Thank you Sandy.

  • hmm… live in the biggest media market in the greatest city in the world or Detroit. That’s a tough one

  • SchadenfreudianSlip

Can’t wait to get out of town.

  • Sandy Alderson faux

I have money to spend, I keep telling you that.

  • billpulsipher

so should alderson for signing garbage like farnsworth and having the audacity to make him closer

  • Andrew Herbst

Nope it’s not. TC does not know how to manage a pen.

  • Waz0787

Being a mets fan is a curse.

  • mets4lyfe

I can’t believe Familia didn’t pitch the 9th inning. Collins should know that Farnsworth pitches up in the strike-zone with his fastball and he’s pitching at Coors Field. Furthermore, he’s not a good enough relief pitcher to be given the close role every single time.

Familia has given up only 1 ER in his last 5 1/3 IP with only 2 walks. Plus, he has a super sinker that would keep the ball in the ballpark.

  • Joe

Well guys, we WERE doing well this year.

And then the Colorado Rockies happened.

  • corny12491

    Thanks Obama

  • Mcgrupp81

The problem is that the bullpen has been crap for years and then you get to read reports that they want to try DeGrom and Montero in there.

The problem is that your GM says that the “evaluation phase” is over and fails to address roster shortcomings.

  • WillisReid

Hanrahan was available to pitch tonight?

  • billpulsipher

sandy “who needs a closer its not like its important or anything”

  • metsjetsfan

I wonder how they would hit if they played their 81 games at Citi Field instead of Coors Field.

  • iwamofo

Lol Hawkins gets the win to shove it in the Mets face

  • AlexHZ

    i needed that chuckle

  • Selltheteam06

DFA Valverde and Farnsworth bring up anyone, a walk there doesnt lose the game

  • That was a punch in the gut. I think we now have 6 blown saves in 12 save opps.

  • derek murphy

Knew I should have went to slews soons farnsworth came in. Good thing they didn’t sign hanrahan. That was almost as smart as not signing Abreu. Why would we want a 1b that hits bombs or a closer who could close? The guys hitting 111 n farnsworth gets jacked.

  • billpulsipher

thank mr alderson for his ever so cheap bullpen additions. who needs hanrahan or Balfour or Hawk or Nathan…i would have taken Joba on a 1 year deal

  • metsjetsfan

Can you use it to pay off my student loans? 🙂

  • Alwayzamazin

so is sandy alderson, but some keep drinking the kool aid!

  • Collins would look at this and say, “Wow, that’s a lot of words.”

  • Joe

For once…. ONCE. The offense doesn’t get the blame for the loss.

  • sperry

It’s funny. Everybody says closers are overrated. Pretty sure the only teams who say that aren’t the ones throwing sh*t up against the wall and hoping something sticks.

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

Mets Bandwagon making all local stops.

Please gather your belongings and exit through the rear door.

Thank you for riding with us.

  • AlexHZ

    That’s pretty crazy

  • WilponsNeed2Go

Its the worst when they tease you into thinking they’ll win.

  • derek murphy

    Sleep

  • CY
    Grandy
    Lagares

some nice positives out of this otherwise disappointing loss.

  • BronxMets

Stop people hanrahan is not signing here as apposed to Detroit. So stop

  • MikeyT

Sandy absolutely blows at building bullpens. I’ve never seen anyone worse. Gross incompetence

  • PessiMets

I still don’t understand why people go crazy cause the mets had a good April this team is just not good

  • MAS0031

Bring up Montero, DFA Valverde and put Mejia in the bullpen. I’m tired of watching these retreads blowing leads.

  • Waz0787

Its a deep flyball to center field. Lagares looking up. It is high it is far see ya. Homerun rockies. The rockies win!!!! The rockies win!!!!

  • LIMetfan22

Thank god I’m hammered. Fukc the Rockies. Fukc mejia

  • Name Mejia the new closer.

  • Used to be a guy named Donal who commented here that I used to get into it with him on that. Closers are not overrated.

  • Selltheteam06

hes overdoing it by posting the same thing every 3 seconds but hes right. hanrahan couldnt pitch tonight but he could for most of the summer when we still wont have anyone who can close.

  • BronxMets

You are stupid. Really really stupid

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

What’s Balfour’s ERA these days and who gave up that go ahead hit to Lagares again? I missed it.

  • billpulsipher

mind blowing that this braindead idiot alderson did nothing to acquire a closer as insurance policy for parnell all offseason. even more mindblowing he showed zero interest in Hanrahan….so theres only 130 games left and these idiots have no closer…lol

  • MetsfanInParadise

The Mets must give off walk-off HRs at a rate 10 times higher than the overall HR rate. Elias or ESPN should calculate how many potential walk-off at bats teams have had against the team this year and how many have resulted in HRs.

  • Joe

I wouldn’t give up on Mejia yet. If that were the case you’d also have to give up on Wheeler, because he got rocked. It’s just the rockies and their offense / ballpark.

  • $14435385

They have good hitters, so they’d hit well wherever they played. It’s just not fun to me to watch games like this, even if they win. It’s not the way the game was designed to be played.

  • BCleveland3381

This loss was on Terry and we should have won this game, but I still reiterate, this is the worst matchup in baseball for this team. Best offense in the game, best offensive park in baseball history, fly ball pitchers with a questionable ‘pen, weak lineup, we were due to struggle here. Im not giving up on the season by any means, but Terry Collins does nothing to better this team. He is a cancer to the Mets.

  • Tango01

Hey Sandy how is that search for a closer coming along?

  • WilponsNeed2Go

Now that Dice K has shown himself an effective long reliever, I think Torres is next on the closer rotation.

  • Guest

he will get back to you next april

  • Joey D.

    Hi Bill,

It’s not cheap – it’s a combination of 1) advanced statistical analysis that shows that it is better to have outsiders rather than former players run a team and 2) success through “payroll concentration”.

  • Waz0787

Not a garbage. He was released by the mets after spring training lol. We picked him up from unemployment line.

  • MAS0031

Mejia seems to run out of gas after 4-5 innings. I love his stuff, but he’s been bad 3rd time through the order.

  • MetsfanInParadise

You know I’m right there with you, brother. He lost control in the 5th

  • Sandy Alderson faux

    oops

  • Terry

I agree. Although I don’t want Montero in the BP. Want to see him as a starter. But I see both sides…

  • metsjetsfan

NOOOO. Give him at least 3 more starts, and if he still hasn’t figured it out then, then move him to the bullpen.

  • well said, as always.

  • Waz0787

Good night. Some people thought our season end after april.

  • metsjetsfan

    Murphy, too

  • billpulsipher

maybe sandy will sign jesse orosco or john franco. they are up his alley

  • Alwayzamazin

Chago! did you hear the song? i’ll repeat it…

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVQGxFDINng

  • ThatGuyWhoLeavesComments

Man. All you guys crying for Mejia in the rotation back in March now want him in the pen.

The fans give me more entertainment than the team.

  • WilponsNeed2Go

He doesnt seem to handle high pressure situations real well.

  • MikeyT

You think that guy has it between the ears to be a closer? You’ve seen how he handles adversity. He completely chokes and implodes

  • yeah but he’s been going all season. Good to see CY and Grandy getting some traction and JL redeeming his otherwise rough day at the plate with a key hit in the 9th

  • billpulsipher

2 weeks ago, Mike Francesa “Farnsworth will be a failure and wont last as closer, he will implode liek he always does”

  • Joey D.

    Hi MikeyT,

Don’t blame Sandy, blame the players he acquired…… 🙂

  • metsjetsfan

LOL, I see what you did there.

  • mets4lyfe

I dislike Coor Fields even more than CBP.

  • Waz0787

Look at the stat he crashes after 4th innings

  • BCleveland3381

Relax on Farnsworth for now. Coors field is a nightmare for any pitcher. This loss is on terry.

  • iwamofo

Idk I really like the length that Dice-K and Torres can both give. Send down Valverde and bring up degrom and try Familia in the closer role.

  • metsjetsfan

Oh, my. Now you’re quoting Mike Francesa.

  • Joe

I don’t want him in the pen. I still want him in the rotation. All three of our starters against the Rockies so far have gotten slammed. It’s just a bad matchup. Mejia is a good starter and will bounce back.

  • billpulsipher

Kyle has been getting ripped for 2 weeks dude. he needed a miracle to not lose the STL game

  • mets4lyfe

that’s not really a bold prediction. Actually, most people saw it coming.

  • Joe

As much as I don’t like him, he’s usually right

  • Well Montero and deGrom will soon be in our bullpen after 2-3 reps in AAA. The Valverde and Farnsworth experiment may be coming to an end.

  • AlexHZ

There is no closer on this team as of this moment, people need to realize this. The only guy who even resembles a closer is familia but he can’t throw strikes atm.

  • billpulsipher

not if you’re sandy or TC who think he is the 2nd coming of Mariano

  • MetsfanInParadise

I’m talking about Collins. But that’s not true of Mejia either

  • Joe

I still think Dice – K can close

  • metsjetsfan

Ah, yeah. Those 2 hits from CG off of lefties was nice to see.

  • billpulsipher

in June after they blow another 7-10 games

  • Selltheteam06

If Terry Collins is managing this team, the FO is not serious about winning plain and simple

  • Waz0787

    Dude belongs in pen.

  • Lagares
    Murph
    DW
    Duda
    Grandy
    TDA
    CY
    Flores

man that lineup looks so much better with making a single substitution

  • AlexHZ

He’s kinda right. He was just chucking that ball up there.

  • Joey D.

    Hi Terry,

But having holes loses more games than having fight wins ’em.

  • corny12491

Tejada and P is literally a black hole

  • Guest

sandy can pat himself on the back with all his great young starting pitching. it means not a damn thing when you have no closer….

  • yeah, dude is looking a whole lot better recently and CY is really looking solid

  • metsjetsfan

We are now 6-1 when Recker starts…

  • WilponsNeed2Go

I think we will have to make due with just Dice K and maybe even German in long relief. Familia does not have the control or the experience IMO. Unless you want to watch the mets lose alot of games by HBP.

  • BronxMets

You want to compare playing for a team that can go to the world series to playing for the mets. You’re an I Diet. Stop responding to my posts. You’re to dumb to talk to

  • Alwayzamazin

what is Francouer up to? he can pictch! get him off his couch!

  • willymayshayes

Always thought he was more of a closer, but I was glad he got the nod. Hopefully he bounces back, still has nasty stuff. For me it was more of a health concern, keeping his innings down was more of a preservation thought. I think we have a LOT of young pitchers and their roles are not set in stone. find a what works and stick with it.

  • BronxMets

Give em a mulligan cause of TC

  • Waz0787

Batters hitting over .400 after 4th inning. Please pull it up. Mets aren’t commited to winning simple reason TC and rest of his coaching staff have a job.

  • mets4lyfe

I’m 99.9% sure Alderson doesn’t believe this team will even come close to 90 wins. It’s just something he had to say to show the players that he believes in their abilities and show the fanbase that he’s constructed a team that’s capable of winning 90.

At the end of the day, all the blame should go to the Wilpons for handcuffing this Mets franchise.

  • metsjetsfan

Yupp. Can they continue doing this? That is the million dollar question.

  • Waz0787

Flores is not coming up. We all want him but Alderson doesn’t.

  • BronxMets

We open April with 3 losses we open may with 3 losses

  • Joe

All i’m asking is that you guys aren’t quick to jump the gun and give up on Mejia / demand to send him to the pen. I still think he’s the best pitcher in our rotation. He’s going to bounce back, he has filthy stuff.

All of our pitchers against the rockies so far have gotten hit hard. It’s not an excuse, but it’s a bad matchup.

  • BCleveland3381

Colon, Niese, Gee, and wheeler aren’t going anywhere. Montero, DeGrom, and eventually Syndergaard are coming up, and Dice K has been outpitching him in the pen. If Mejia isn’t significantly better than everyone, he’ll be out of the rotation. Despite having great stuff, Mejia has had to battle his way into the rotation to start the year, his leash will be shorter than the other guys.

  • We don’t want him until he starts hitting. He is starting to do that. His defense at short is horrific but I am tired of Tejada and am willing to accept some errors if we can get some production out of the 8 hole

  • metsjetsfan

Agreed with you there. This one’s all on Terry.

  • AlexHZ

Familia or Dice-k and you would choose dk?

  • mets4lyfe

I’ll give up on Mejia as a starter if he has another 5 straight outings where he gives up 5+ ER.

  • Selltheteam06

How does a manager let a pitcher give up 8 runs in 2/3 of an inning?

  • but no stamina – his stuff is exactly why he could probably be a lights out closer

  • Joey D.

    Hi Bill,

Glad you pointed that out for if it was just tonight nobody would be saying to DFA him along with Valverde.

  • Sandy Alderson faux

    NEXT!

  • billpulsipher

1 game out of last place…

  • Waz0787

I agree with you. Crap wtf is goin on lol. Again we don’t make decisions for this team. The man whose in charge dont want him.

  • Joe

Not yet. He’s technically still 3-0, and his ERA was under 2.00 a couple of starts ago. He’s had a couple bad outings, and this is a bad matchup against the Rockies.

Just give him ATLEAST 2 more starts before jumping to a wild conclusion.

  • BCleveland3381

Closers aren’t overrated. But dominant ones are hard to come by. That’s the difference. For every Mariano Rivera or Craig Kimbrel, there are 20 guys that have a great year and then regress.

  • mad met

    They were up 6 runs

  • mets4lyfe

The chances of what I said above is highly unlikely.

  • I don’t think SA will delay Flores’ callup longer than is necessary. Tejada deserves a few more weeks and more importantly, Flores needs more time to get the bat going and improve his defense if he can. I don’t think anyone in management has a soft spot for Tejada.

  • mad met

Duda batting clean up makes me wanna throw up

  • HarveyKsYou

How does a pitcher implode in back to back starts like that?

  • why? He or Grandy are the best power hitters on the team and Duda makes more contact

  • corny12491

TC: I should have taken him out, but I didn’t.

  • metsjetsfan

I understand the players have to play the game and are the ones mostly responsible for the wins and losses, but it does seem like most of the time Terry is clueless out there. Now, I don’t know what a new manager would do with this squad, but it would be nice to see someone else managing this team. Maybe it would ignite them a bit (and maybe it is someone who can manage the pitchers a lot better). Having said all this, I loved the fight they showed tonight. Needless to say, it was a really tough loss.

  • George_Theodore

Kevin asked TC about taking Mejia out earlier… blah blah blah blah… yeah, i should have taken him out earlier..

  • mad met

    Bring up degrom

  • bspo1

Why even show up to that place tomorrow? You know you’re not very good when you score 10 runs and still can’t win. Enough of the 40+ year old closers. Step it up Sandy this is embarrassing what has happened the last 3 games.

  • Selltheteam06

Guys TC just said he knew hed get asked if he should have taken out Mejia earlier! #Genius

  • Waz0787

Mets winning 68 games this year

  • Terry

Couldn’t agree more. I think we are all running out of patience with this organization.

  • HarveyKsYou

    Balfour…

  • Mike Lloyd

Rough loss-need resilience and avoid the sweep.

  • Waz0787

    I e you’re right.

  • donobrien

Who do you root for? I know who you root against.

  • Selltheteam06

Because he is not good enough to be a starter, thats his fault but TC has to pull him. Mejia was horrible but thats on TC.

  • HarveyKsYou

    15 wins now coming!:)

  • Joe

It happens. Mejia will be fine. He’s a good pitcher. Just give him a couple more starts. I’ll eat my crow if he lets me down.

  • you feeling ok? 😉

  • Joey D.

Did TC sound a bit sarcastic when responding to why he didn’t take Mejia out earlier? He talked about a DP that should have been made, a seeing eye hit, etc. and then “yeah, I should have taken him out earlier”. He seemed mad.

  • Joe

He is good enough to be a starter. Without a doubt.

  • HarveyKsYou

I like mejia it’s just so disheartening seeing our pitchers get hammered.

  • sperry

I’m shocked those two lasted this long

  • mad met

I wanted him in the pen and degrom to get the fith spot but i never get what i want

  • a series win or a split would’ve been nice but even getting out with a single win isn’t terrible considering how great the Rockies have been in the early season

  • Joe

It’s not an excuse, but this is a very very poor matchup at Coors for us.

Let us just get out of this series and see what happens before mentally going off the deep end.

  • Rocky Thompson

I agree that the Valverde and Farnsworth experiment may be coming to an end, but I doubt both Montero and deGrom will be going to the bullpen. Matsuzaka has surprisingly (to me) looked good in the pen, so I would use Montero or deGrom as next up for the rotation and Mejia will quickly be approaching his innings limit. Additionally, there are some relief options at AAA: Walters, Black and Goeddel who after a rough start to the season in his last 6 games has gone 7.2 innings. one run, 5 hits, 2 BB and 10Ks. All three are on the 40-man roster.

  • Selltheteam06

3rd time through the lineup hitters are hitting 400 against him. his stuff is filthy but you cant blame this on coors field.

  • mad met

Starting with a real cleanup hitter 🙂

  • Joey D.

    Hey Say Friend,

Chago, it was wonderful having you drop in. Hope we catch up with each more often than expected.

    MJ sends her love.

  • Waz0787

    Paging alex and leroy

  • Joe

What? It is definitely terrible considering they are 4 game sweeping us. Especially after a game like today.

    It’s just not ALARMING.

  • Selltheteam06

Im willing to give Mejia another start because we wont be competing this year anyway but he imploded last start too in one of the biggest ballparks in baseball.

  • well Grandy is a pretty safe bet to pick it up. He’s been too solid for too long to play like he has been. CY is a bigger question mark but so far he has not looked anything like the .200 hitter he was last year. Guy knows what he’s doing up there and has some serious power. I think (hope?) that that might go down as one of the better FA deals made.

  • BronxMets

Nobody wants to say it but The Captain stood at 3b while his young teammate explodes.

  • BronxMets

Caught that well its kind of like duh.

  • Joe

I know. I have faith in Mejia from what i’ve seen last year / early on. I’m willing to give him an additional start or two before making a conclusion.

If he continues to implode, yes, I can agree with you. But trust me, Mejia is good. He’s having a bit of a bad stretch i think.

  • HarveyKsYou

Don’t get into too much trouble buddy! 😛 kidding, of course. Enjoy your self. God Bless

  • Waz0787

I had a wonderful day. I missed watching the game till 7th lol. In general I am trying to be nice

  • Sandy Alderson faux

Francoeur’s too young to close for us.

  • Rocky Thompson

Duda has got to catch that ball.

  • HarveyKsYou

    Kyle is a dick.

  • Selltheteam06

Im with you and harvey, that game just killed me. No point jumping on mejia im rooting for him as long as he wears the NYM on the front of the jersey.

  • Waz0787

    He is a wilpons spokesperson.

  • Waz0787

Farnsworth and Valverde are professional baseball players.

  • MetsfanInParadise

If Wainwright could do it in ’06 DeGrom can do it.

  • HarveyKsYou

    Haha

  • HarveyKsYou

Except he was drafted by the braves (they know how to develop pitching) and came up with the cardinals (they know how to develop pitching). We can’t develop relievers for some reason.

  • donobrien

    Yes, I have one. Jealous?

  • Joey D.

    Hi Joe,

What is alarming is that OK, this was Coors Field and we know hitting was going to dominate, however, our pitching should have been able to contain the Rockies batters more than they have and that cannot be attributed to just the park.

And if it is, then can the signs we’ve seen with CY, Granderson and d’Arnaud these past three games also be just attributed to the park as well? Can’t have it both ways.

  • Waz0787

He has been the best pitcher in vegas. I don’t care about potential send either wheeler or mejia down to work on control and pitch count. Bring him up

  • me too – we took the boy out to brunch then went down to the 79th Street Boat Basin and had some outdoor beers. My friend and his wife met us with their boys and we had some more outdoor beers then we headed over the playground, came home and took naps. All around a fun day. Until about 20 minutes ago

  • MetsfanInParadise

What about starters who are used as relievers for a year before moving into the rotation?

  • Joe

Sending Wheeler or Mejia down is a bad idea man. They’re only human, they aren’t perfect and Colorado is a rough matchup.

Overall, they’ve pitched well for us this year.

  • I’m not quite ready to concede the 4th game of the series just yet. May 4th and the Mets are over .500. Not too shabby

  • HarveyKsYou

    Perfectly stated.

  • MetsfanInParadise

I wonder how many more butts would have to be in the seats before it would be worth ignoring Super Two considerations to bring some of these guys up now. But replace bullpen parts, not a starter

  • all 3 of those guys were having good at bats before they got to CO though. If they suddenly just got hot there it’d be one thing but things were looking up before then

  • Joe

I agree, but you need to keep in mind our pitching isn’t going to be near perfect every single game. The rockies are an offensive powerhouse so it’s not surprising.

  • Selltheteam06

Exactly Joey D, I havent seen anyone make that point yet. If the pitchers get mulligans since its coors field, then why are we talking about how granderson, cy, and dw are heating up?

  • BronxMets

Me know not of anything that small. But hey your boyfriend is happy.

  • I think it’s time to call up Montero and DeGrom. DG goes to the pen with Mejia, Montero into the rotation. Mejia is gonna be on a 100 inning limit as it is, let’s stretch him out over the whole season by only making him throw 4 or 5 innings a week

  • Waz0787

I understand. Mejia falls apart after 4th innings and wheeler needs to work on his control. At least give the dude a reward. He had been brilliant in vegas.

  • Joe

Call him up to work from the bullpen / spot start. Guys like Mejia and definitely Wheeler need to be seasoned as starters. They’re going to have bad outings. Not everyone is Harvey.

  • MetsfanInParadise

That’s actually a good point. For awhile he was showing that kind of leadership in the field.so does Murphy at times. He never should have thrown that last pitch until someone talked to him. But it’s on Terry. If an infielder or the catcher doesn’t take the initiative he has to send someone out there.

  • BronxMets

Why hasn’t Mejia spoken to the media. What is that BS?

  • Waz0787

    Lol. It’s all about money

  • not counting tonight, Grandy is hitting .260 since breaking his slump last week.

  • BronxMets

At the end of the day it’s all on TC as he is the head coach but that enforces the theory that David is just not a leader.

  • Waz0787

No one has seen degroom pitch in the big. I want him to start. Enough with potential crap. It’s also mental as well. Our ace Gee people said he doesn’t belong in the majors. He made adjustment. I am not going to argue for sake of arguing. If anything montero should be bought up for the pen. He has a very smooth delivery

  • MetsfanInParadise

So which one of his 3 suddenly hot hitting outfielders is Terry going to sit to get EY into a game?

  • Bail4Nails

There was a great Terry Collins/Sandy Alderson metaphor tonight. Once again TC waited too long to make a move, and bring in a new Pitcher.
How long is Sandy going to wait to upgrade the horror show in the Bullpen (DeGrom, Montero) and Shortstop (Jesus, anyone at this point is an upgrade).
Are we going to wait until the Trade Deadline, when the Mets are sub-.500 and probably out of contention?? Again?
Hey Terry and Sandy, here’s a good idea. Let’s try to Win the game TODAY. Replace Tejada. Replace Valverde. Help the Mets win your 90 Games.

  • Joe

Trust me, I agree Degrom and Montero should get their shot at starting. I’m just saying we shouldn’t go crazy and automatically dismiss Mejia / Wheeler as starters.

  • donobrien

God Bless, my friend, enjoy each day.

  • Bail4Nails

Hang in ther Chago. Good luck buddy, we’ll say our prayers.

  • Bail4Nails

I would not be opposed to trading Wheeler for the right price at this point (Good Cleanup Hitter or Shortstop/Leadoff Hitter).

  • mr. belvedere

Didn’t see the game…what happened to Mejia in that inning, did he just lose it or was it something else
