LAS VEGAS 7, SACRAMENTO 6

The only game played in the Mets minors yesterday, this one was certainly a battle of the bats as both teams went back and forth the entire game.  Daisuke Matsuzaka gave up five hits and three earned runs in five innings, walking four and striking out four, but the Mets eventually won the game on a Matt den Dekker walk off single in the bottom of the ninth.  Cesar Puello walked with the bases empty with two outs and swiped second base to give den Dekker the opportunity.  Puello finished the game with two hits, a walk, and a strikeout in five at-bats raising his average to .350 on the year.  Rafael Montero will get the ball on Tuesday at 7:05 as the 51’s look to win their third contest in a row.

BINGHAMTON, ERIE, PPD

Monday night’s game between the B-Mets and Erie SeaWolves was postponed due to inclement weather. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Saturday, June 14th with game one scheduled to start at 6:05 PM.

ST. LUCIE, NIGHT OFF

The St. Lucie Mets were off on Monday night and are back in action today when they travel to Jupiter to play the Hammerheads at Roger Dean Stadium at 6:05 pm. Mets starter has yet to be announced.

SAVANNAH, AUGUSTA: PPD

Monday’s game between the Sand Gnats and the Augusta GreenJackets was rained out. The game will be made up today as a part of a double header.  Right-hander Kevin McGowan is set to set to take the mound for game one and  lefthander Dario Alvarez will throw in game two.

PLAYER OF THE NIGHT

Cesar Puello: Stealing second with two outs proved huge as he eventually scored on Matt den Dekker’s single.  He also contributed a single, double, and an RBI of his own.
