Syndergaard Untouchable, Montero Slightly Ahead, Both Will Debut In 2014

Mets GM Sandy Alderson was a guest of Mike Francesa on WFAN this afternoon and spent a considerable amount of time discussing two of the team’s best pitching prospects, Noah Syndergaard and Rafael Montero.

Alderson was adamant that Syndergaard would not be traded under any circumstances. “None.”

The plan for these two exciting power arms will be similar to the tracks taken by Zack Wheeler and Matt Harvey before them. Sandy said there was pretty much “no chance” that either Montero or Thor will make the team out of Spring Training.

He believes that Montero is ahead of Syndergaard and cited his remarkable performance as a significant achievement.

The bottom line is that he expects to see both Syndergaard and Montero pitching with the big club at some point next season. “I’d be very surprised if that didn’t happen.”

Good stuff, Met fans, good stuff.
