New York Mets 2013 first round pick (11th overall) Dominic Smith, has been promoted from the Gulf Coast League to the Appalachian League and will join the Kingsport Mets immediately.

ESPN’s Adam Rubin initially mad
e the announcement, noting that the lefthanded slugger has been promoted at a pivotal time in the K-Mets season and just in time for the league playoffs.

Kingsport has just three games remaining in the regular season.

The 18-year-old first baseman was having a solid pro debut and hitting .287/.384/.407 in 167 AB’s with 22 RBI, nine doubles, one triple, three home runs and two stolen bases.
