Reason being is the thinner field at first base. For example, Yahoo has him as the 7th ranked 1B (6th if you consider Posey is ranked ahead of him and will be everyone’s catcher) compared to the 15th OF. I can’t see anyone drafting Gonzalez as an outfielder mostly because if you wait till the 4th round or so to try and grab him behind those other guys, you’ll miss out. His ADP is somewhere around 31 after Pujols, Fielder and Votto, amongst others.

And Harper will bat third this year for Davey. Span/Werth/Harper/Zimmerman/LaRoche is the 1-5. That’s a lot of runs and RBI chances for a kid who also hit 22 home runs and stole 18 bases in a shortened rookie year.

I wouldn’t put him in the top 15.

I had him last year. He scored over 100 runs last year despite missing about 30 games with an injury. And now his lineup is even scarier with Detroit adding Torii Hunter, and a healthy Victor Martinez coming back. AJax could easily score 120-130 runs this year, health permitting.
