I see you choose to ignore that he’s a career .292 hitter, but this is his last year on the team anyway. His salary is going up and Flores or Havens (if he doesn’t get DFA) will replace him midseason.

Whether at 1B, 2B, 3B or DH, he could start or platoon for almost all of the contenders which means he is all but gone once the Mets fall out of contention…

You start every season as if you are contenders. Once the Mets fall out of contention, then guys like Byrd (if productive) get shipped out and replaced with younger guys.

You don’t concede from day 1 although given that there are more RHP in the game, between CF and RF Valdespin should be able to get more than enough AB throughout the week…

You’re in the SPIN ZONE! It’s just a matter of time before everyone realizes how much better he is than “El Stiffo” Murphy. He of the over rated variety. He of the Met fan hearts. He of the “he’s home grown and tries really hard” BS. He of the can’t run, field, with zero speed. Yes, that Murphy, who rarely walks and had six dingers in three times the at bats than that of Valdespin.

2013 is a throwaway season everytime we talk about signing Bourn or keeping Dickey….but some how some way, we should play every game like its a game 7 of the WS…

Spin has a stanglehold on RF, for as long as they can Colllins will try to keep the apprearance that he may start seson in AAA, but we are going to war w Spin this season,,and there’s nothing wrong with that..
