Mets Reach Naming Rights Agreement, Champions Club Is Now The Hyundai Club
METS AND HYUNDAI REACH MULTI-YEAR DEAL FOR
HYUNDAI CLUB AT CITI FIELD
FLUSHING, N.Y., March 18, 2013 – The New York Mets today announced a multi-year partnership with Hyundai for naming rights to the Hyundai Club, the only all-inclusive premium seating area at Citi Field.
The Hyundai Club, formerly known as the Champions Club, is located on the field level behind home plate with its 660 seats spanning to the dugouts. The all-inclusive gourmet buffet includes a daily chef selection of carved meats and pasta and unlimited non-alcoholic beverages. A selection of peanuts, popcorn, fresh baked cookies and ice cream are also available.
Hyundai will have the exclusive right to showcase one of its vehicles on the Field Level concourse in front of the club for all 81 games.
The multi-year agreement is an expansion of a partnership that began last year with an outfield sign.
“We are proud to grow our relationship with Hyundai to including branding rights for one of the premiere seating locations at Citi Field,” said Dave Howard, Executive Vice President Business Operations. “Hyundai is the latest partner to join us for what will be an exciting All-Star season for Mets fans.”
“Citi Field provides a great venue to showcase an award-winning Hyundai line-up that continues to get even stronger,” said Ken Bloech, General Manager for Hyundai Motor America’s Eastern Region. “Over the course of the season, we look forward to having Mets’ fans enjoy games from the comfort of the Hyundai Club. We’ll also be displaying a range of vehicles from an all-new, three-row Santa Fe that’s perfect for families to a redesigned Equus sedan that delivers a higher level of refinement for the luxury segment.”
Other Corporate Partners of the Mets with naming rights for premium hospitality spaces at Citi Field include Delta Air Lines with the Delta Sky360 Club, Caesars Atlantic City with the Caesars Club, Amtrak with the Acela Club, Modell’s with the Modell’s Clubhouse and Party City with the Party City Deck.

Thoughts from Joe D. – Initially the new Hyundai Club was slated to have 666 seats. But then word suddenly came down from the owners last month, to bring capacity down to 660 seats. Apparently there were some major concerns that Howard Megdal was going to expose the Satanic connection between Hyundai and the team, and start referring to birthday parties and corporate affairs as diabolical cult gatherings. Good thinking…

So, is it safe to assume there will be 660 mostly, if not completely, empty seats behind home plate? Those Mitsubishi execs who purchased those seats may be a tad upset with this news!:)lol
Maybe the section will be filled with die hard crazy Japanese fans, waving Met banners and making noise. They go all out over in Japan, so maybe this will be a good thing! Then again, it might only be 660 crazed fans in one section and about another 660 fans scattered throughout the rest of the stadium.
not likely, since Hyundai is Korean.
Ok, strike the Japan part and insert Korean. Thank you for proving I’m an idiot. I had a feeling I was, but this confirms it.
It would have been nice if Chevrolet, Ford, Chrysler, Buick or Cadillac stepped up for the sponsorship. That being said it is a nice score for Hyundai to snag the naming rights in NY in this all-star stadium.
These seats are slightly elevated from field level. The food is excellent. Get there early to eat your fill.
And remember to bring an exorbitant amount of money.
It is a pay one price. Watch Stub Hub for some good deals. I went to Chipper Jones’ last game in New York. I picked up two tickets @$55 each. The food was excellent quality. The seat views were the the best I ever bought in New York.
How in the hell are people going to know what is what? If every section has a brand name, you can’t differentiate what it is.
660 seats, huh? Next thing you know, people will have their panties in a bunch because somehow, it’s the Wilpons way of honoring Willie Mays.
Yippy skippy….
A discount car maker supporting a discount baseball team – perfect!
Hyundai sounds so much better than Champions.
It won’t be long before they start putting product names on uniforms.
Or probably on the outfield walls again. Remember back in the 90s, they had stuff like The Wiz and Gap signs on the outfield wall?
Hitman – remember Endy’s catch? On the wall behind him was “THE STRENGTH TO BE THERE”.
How could I forget? That’s what makes his catch even more iconic.
Well we knew it wouldnt be the Rolls Royce club
*Hyundai is the latest partner to join us for what will be an exciting All-Star season for Mets fans.*
A thrilling 4th place finish.
How much of this dough goes to improve team?… Nothing.
The Hyundai Club, LMAO!
Could be worse, The Yugo Club, The Ford Edsel Club, The Mattel Big Wheel Club.
How about Studebaker?
Oh yeah, yet another instance where the word “champion” is stricken from the Mets vocabulary.
LOL, nice one.
