Mets Notes: Turner Injury Update, Spin Leading Off, Niese Starts Tonight
The Mets will be in action tonight against the Miami Marlins at 7:05 at Roger Dean Stadium. Newly appointed Opening Day Starter Jonathon Niese will be on the hill, and Jordany Valdespin will bat leadoff. Including tonight’s contest, the Mets have just ten Grapefruit League games left to play, and will play their final game on March 30. Four of the Mets ten remaining games will be televised; two will air on SNY and two on PIX 11. You can check the television schedule here.
Today, Justin Turner started at third base in a minor league game. On Thursday, Turner had a pinch-hit single in what was his first game action since injuring his ankle last week.
Kirk Nieuwenhuis started in center field in a minor league game in Port St. Lucie today. He also played in a minor league game on Thursday, and went 1-2 with a double and three walks, but did not play the field.

I can just see Terry trolling everyone and starting Turner OD as the clean up hitter.
Niese was nothing but shaky tonight. I watched him from behind the plate, there was barely any command, and all of his outs were on either his curve, or the run from the fastball. it merely looked as though he was overthrowing.
Velocity on the plus side was 87-92, and the movement was uncanny.
maybe they have all had enough of ST too. I sure have!
