I think that has something to do with it, sure. I think the 2013 Royals will be better than in recent years, but the Shields experiment will be over before all the young kids mesh with each other and then they’re out an ace pitcher and two top prospects.

I think the Royals picked the wrong time and wrong players to go for it all. Shields has a tough time pitching outdoors and they were more than one pitcher away, anyhow. I always like Davis, but he’s nothing special. It would take everyone in their lineup to reach their potential all at once, while Davis overreaches, Shields surprises everyone, and their bullpen pulls an “Orioles.” If all that happens, all at once, then maybe they can compete for a Wild Card, because the Tigers are still light years better.

so, looks like none of you are thinking that the Royals big “go for it all” trade is paying off for them. Certainly reasonable, but it would be nice to see them actually make some noise for a change. It is a nice area, and truly a long suffering but supportive fanbase.

Two other immortals are working on minor league coverage. These two immortals are working major leagues. We had an immortals meeting and decided to divvy up the workload that way. The meeting took place on top of a cloud around a table made of the finest marble while sitting on those Brookstone massage chairs. It was great.
