All I’ve read about Wheeler is he’s quiet, unassuming, humble and confident.

You don’t get the tag “bulldog” by pitching in Binghamton or tossing bullpens in spring training. That don’t mean shit. You think Brad Holt didn’t impress in his first spring training and said the same things as Wheeler has about wanting to win and making it to the majors? How quickly you all forget.

Still rooting for Johan to have a solid final season. But probably wouldn´t bet on him being much of a factor. And certainly wouldn´t expect any sort of meaningful trade haul for him this July.

I can understand your suspicions not only based on the actions of the past few weeks but also because we’ve seen it before where the Mets stall off reports of bad injury news for as long as possible.

And that is a question I have which maybe you could shed some light on. As fans, we know mainly how the Mets do things. Is it common for other teams to be so secretive when it comes to the health of big name players or it it more unique with the Mets (i.e., Reyes’ injury before the all-star break first not being serious then three days later he goes on the DL, Beltran with his knee surgery, etc.). And either way, what do the Mets believe they have to gain holding this news back from the public? Is it what some of us suspect might simply be for season ticket sales or is there more to it?

Any thoughts from inside your perspective?

This guy will end up as another form of Jason Bay, though he has done MUCH MORE as a Met. Honestly, we all love Santana, but either he’s going to give us a full season, or… fizzle.

Actually all our starters are all studs now. Except for Santana they are young studs. I think they all could satisfy Angelina. You know our rotation is hot stuff !

Pelfrey seems like a nice enough guy but it got to the point that it was painful to watch him pitch. I’ll take a guy like Harvey with a bulldog attitude any day.

I know Pelf was quoted early as saying he would like to return to the Mets but only in a SP capacity. Think he got 4.5 MIL from the Twins. Wonder if the Mets even checked in on him.

And given the history here why would you think it unusual for me to think it was a person under another name? I don’t think it was unusual for me at all to think that.

Johan is adamant it’s just rust b/c he didn’t pitch at all during the off season and it’s going to take a bit to build up the arm strength to where it needs to be. Said it’s not a setback.

TC more or less said the same thing. Said he was concerned after they watched his BP session b/c the velocity wasn’t there and the release point wasn’t right. He more or less said they’re going to take a step back now to build up to where he would need to be to start pitching in a ST game.

So…take that for what it’s worth. I’m kind of thinking like you. Until I hear otherwise I’ll take it at face value for the moment. However, won’t surprise me to hear the word ‘setback’ or some more bad news two weeks from now.
