ANY SECOND SUCH VIOLATION, THE VIOLATOR MUST REFUND ALL SALARIES EARNED BETWEEN VIOLATION DATES AS WELL AS PERMANENTLY DISQUALIFIED FROM EVENTUAL HOF BALLOTS

I agree Jessep and Metro,

The more GIO says the more contradiction there is.

I know this won’t go with the player’s union though some within the ranks have strongly voiced for it to become so – suspend any player caught for a full year and then a second time, it’s a lifetime ban.

Hit ‘em where it really hurts. A 50 day suspension of pay is not the same as a full year’s salary.

PED generally won´t help you become a good hitter, i.e. swing at the right pitches and learn to drive balls, lay off bad pitches, “learn to hit the curve”, etc.
Maybe PEDs helped Puello recover from injuries.
In FMart´s case, that would certainly be a reasonable assumption, considering his chronic knee issues.

Of course, if this story is true, it makes some of the looming 40-man roster decisions a bit easier as Puello certainly could now be in danger of losing his roster spot – in spite of the structural OF issues.

Yeah not all PEDs turn players into the incredible hulk. The first MLBer to test positive for steroids was Alex Sanchez he was about 180 pounds. Not all players who use fit the McGwire/Bonds prototype.

Agree. I like to give players the benefit of the doubt, but from what I’ve read, the situation with this clinic just seems too shady.

For those who didn’t click through to the story, F-Mart is another who has now been caught up with this clinic.

It appears all the names have now been leaked. It’s fortunate no Mets major leaguer has been named.

Mark – I didn’t see what they said Puello got but you need to be careful when assuming that every PED = Barry Bonds.

There is a slew of items on the banned list and all can do different things. None of them are magic though.

Yeah, find it hard to believe that Puello took anything. One would think that there would be a change in his body type or in his performance and his numbers don’t suggest that. I think I will come up with a new name for steroids that have no noticeable impact on a player. Let’s call them BPS for batting practice steroids. I hear that Puello hits some prolific shots in batting practice but just hasn’t translated into games. I think getting a little off course that the intriguing question to ask is if MLB investigators can find irrefutable proof that Ryan Braun took steroids are they barred from pursuing any additional punishment since his case has already been dismissed by an arbiter? It has been fully litigated and if this were a criminal case the answer would be yes.

If Puello indeed used PED’s they haven’t done him much good (.278, .346, .390 5 year slash line). Even though he’s only 21 repeating St Lucie without much success doesn’t bode well for his status as a prospect. And if he DID cheat, his numbers should exceed what he’s produced. Unless his physical skills have been overhyped by the Mets, and since when do the Mets ever overhype their own prospects?!
